The R-07 features multiple high-quality recording modes, plus unique dual recording and hybrid limiting functions that ensure perfect audio capture every time. It also includes Bluetooth® for remote operation and features Bluetooth-capable audio streaming enhanced with Qualcomm® aptX™ audio technology.

While today’s smartphones have the capability to record audio, achieving high-quality results requires using external peripherals that are fussy and inconvenient. Stylish and easy to carry in a pocket, the all-in-one R-07 makes it simple to capture high-resolution audio wherever the user travels.

The R-07 supports mono and stereo WAV recording at rates up to 24-bit/96 kHz and MP3 recording at rates up to 320 kbps. For added protection during storage and travel, Roland is also offering an optional soft zippered pouch (CB-BPR07) and a sturdy bag with a shoulder strap and pockets (CB-BR07).

Roland Announces 4XCAMERA App for iOS

Easily create split screen music video performances on iPhone or iPad

Roland (LVCC Central Hall, Booth# 17544) announces 4XCAMERA, a unique new video capture app for iOS devices. 4XCAMERA makes it easy for musicians to create music videos with up to four performances split on the screen. Aspect ratios of 1:1 and 16:9 are supported, and 10 split-screen patterns are available for each. The app is a free download and allows users to capture up to two performances. Full functionality is available via an in-app purchase of $3.99.

With 4XCAMERA and an iPhone or iPad, it’s quick and simple for one person to create split screen performance videos of original music, cover songs, or karaoke tracks. And by sharing 4XCAMERA video projects through cloud-based storage, multiple musicians can use the app to contribute performances from anywhere in the world.

The user starts by capturing one video performance to the 4XCAMERA app. Using this video as a guide, they can capture three more performances, adding new parts on each pass. Sound can be recorded via the device’s built-in mic or through a connected audio capture device.

All videos for a song are stored within the app’s library. To complete a split screen music video, the user applies a split screen pattern, adjusts volumes for each video, and then renders a final file for sharing on YouTube and other social media sites.

La Divine Comédie

Tracy Paul & Company Inc. launches La Divine Comédie, the most exclusive French property in the heart of Avignon.

Tracy Paul & Company Inc. is proud to announce its representation of La Divine Comédie, an exquisite luxury property located in the most treasured setting within Southern France. The hotel resort La Divine Comédie is a 19th century mansion, comprised of 5 spectacular suites. Each suite has it’s own unique style, inspired by Gilles Jauffret the renowned French interior designer as well as one of the properties owners. He has meticulously thought of every detail throughout the entire compound.

There are some places which seem to have an eternal soul, transmitted through the ages, from one occupier to another. Certain individuals have the gift of giving free rein to the spirit present within these walls, and of respecting the building’s unique character. Listening to the echoes of its past and reading the lines of its own story. This is true of the lucky occupiers of La Divine Comédie, who have devoted themselves, heart and soul, to breathing life into one of Avignon’s most particular private residences, using their creative talents and impeccable artistic taste to bring out the very best in every inch of the 2,600 m2 space.

The grounds of the hotel contain a spa & wellness center as well as a large outdoor swimming pool. The hotel also has the largest private garden directly centered in the middle of Avignon, with over 100 varieties of trees and plants. The owners Amaury and Gilles wanted to create a true haven of calm and tranquility in the heart of the city. Yet the hotel is just footsteps away from the Pope’s Palace, restaurants, shopping and all the other attractions offered in one of France’s most historic romantic cities.

La Divine Comédie is, first and foremost, a garden to be found behind high walls. Catch your first glimpse from the outside as the gentle breeze stirs the leaves of the ancient plane trees, hinting at this oasis of calm right in the city center. The light and airy house can be seen through the open gate, inviting and casting a spell over its visitors, who can all too easily fall in love with its mysterious, mesmerizing charm. The garden and the house come together to tell an enchanting, enticing tale of discovery and pleasure. Pass through the open doors to enjoy the hedonistic pleasures of La Divine Comédie, a dreamlike, but very real, paradise.

THE ANATOLE SUITE

The Anatole suite tells the tale of Uncle Anatole, a seasoned traveller recently returned from abroad, bringing a whole collection of souvenirs. Two magnificent, antique model boats show his love for the sea.

Anatole also collects orientalist paintings, particularly Cortès and Pascal; the mirrors, screen and the 18th Century canopy over the bed are other gems brought back from his travels. The antechamber is home to a desk, perfect for planning the next trip.

Visitors to the suite are greeted by a portrait of Anatole in his younger years.

Suite size : 50 m2

THE APHRODITE SUITE

The Aphrodite suite features a spectacular round bed, surrounded by soft, diaphanous draped voile, the perfect place to relax in privacy. The suite is decorated in soothing greys and blues, reflecting the soft tones of an 18th Century Vernet-style screen. A number of extremely fine orientalist paintings add to the overall effect.

The suite opens out onto a private terrace of 30m2, with spectacular views on the garden. Visitors are welcome to take their breakfast or to enjoy an aperitif on the terrace. The suite also features a second, smaller room.

Suite size : 50 m2

THE CONSUL SUITE

The Consul suite is decorated in the style of the Napoleonic period, when the fashion was for all things exotic. A collection of lithographs of the Bosphorus in the antechamber sits alongside a superb collection of antique trunks. The typical furniture, notably the armchairs – replicas of the throne of Tutankhamun – is set off by a palate of warm cumin, black and brown tones.

The orientalist spirit can also be seen in a series of engravings representing Napoleon’s first trip to Egypt, reflecting the fashion for exotic travel. The suite is oriented west, offering a glimpse of the Papal Palace from the windows.

Suite size: 50 m2

THE NAPLES SUITE

The Naples suite is home to a stunning collection of gouache paintings of Mt Vesuvius erupting. The artworks are set off by the matte grey walls of the main room. Three huge, south-facing windows look out over the garden. Majestic bed hangings, suspended from an 18th Century canopy, sit alongside a modern headboard designed by Gilles Jauffret. The simple, clean lines of the light fixtures, imported from Morocco, add a graphic touch to the décor.

Suite size: 50 m2

THE VENICE SUITE

The Venice suite features a collection of over 40 18th– and 19th-Century oil paintings of the Italian city, set against a backdrop of blue and grey tones.

Enjoy the beauties of Venice without leaving Provence! Much of Avignon’s palatial architecture is inspired by Italian art, as Papal legates commissioned their favorite artists to work on their residences in the city.

The suite also features a 1920s Iris chandelier and 1970s shell chairs, the perfect place to enjoy some of our collection of works on Venice.

Suite size : 50 m2

REEBOK

REEBOK DISPLAYS INNOVATION IN FLEXWEAVE FOOTWEAR TECHNOLOGY WITH DESIGNER COLLABORATIONS

Reebok partners with Joe Doucet x Partners, Modla and Odd Matter in global creative co-op; using Reebok Flexweave to create imaginative fitness prototypes

Reebok has partnered with some of the most creative and innovative minds in the world to create a custom collection of fitness prototypes showcasing the power of Flexweave; the brand’s latest footwear innovation launching in Spring 2018.

In partnership with Joe Doucet x Partners (USA),  Modla (ENG) and Odd Matter (AN), the global fitness brand explored the potential of Flexweave. Flexweave boasts an open figure-8 construction that interlocks unlimited strands of fibers to create a single surface construction that is as strong as it is light. All designers worked with the version of the textile that will appear in the first-generation of Reebok Flexweave footwear, launching in 2018, made from chenille yarn.

Each designer was briefed to explore Flexweave’s limitless potential to create a unique product linking form and function, creating an aesthetic product utilizing the benefits of Flexweave whilst serving a fitness purpose.

Reebok Flexweave prototype collection includes a pair of cutting-edge running gloves (Joe Doucet x Partners), a 3D printed altitude training mask (Modla) and a collection of light-weight, active sitting chairs (Odd Matter). Flexweave was developed by the Reebok Innovation Collective; a division championing the open-sourced pursuit of progression via innovation and partnerships that aims to push the boundaries of invention.

All prototypes can be viewed right now at http://www.reebok.com/en-US/campaigns/flexweave/

JOE DOUCET X PARTNERS –  New York City, United States

As a designer, entrepreneur, inventor and creative director, Joe Doucet is one of the most sought-after creative talents in America. Doucet designed a pair of Reebok Flexweave running gloves, form-fitting to the wearers hand, absorbing sweat as they run and lightweight for maximum comfort. The prototype was designed with the vision of being GPS-enabled, guiding the wearer through their run with flashing LED lights to indicate when to turn left or right.

“My inspiration was to capture the unique qualities of the Flexweave technology through something advantageous to an active lifestyle. The strength, flexibility and multi surface durability of Flexweave led me to the idea of a ‘smart’ running glove with a sleek, stylish silhouette. With the form crafted by Flexweave, the next stage of development would be GPS integration paving the way to a new frontier in wearable technology,” said Doucet.

ODD MATTER –  Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Odd Matter is a design studio driven by curiosity; researching, creating and exploring the world through its materials, processes and concept. The duo created a furniture series of ‘active sitting’ chairs; made through a combination of Reebok Flexweave and malleable EVA foam.

“The Inspiration for the chair came from the Flexweave material itself. Whilst experimenting and playing with the fabric we were very intrigued by its behavior, structure and strength under tension. From there we wanted to create an object that played with that tension, a bit like the string of a bow, something in which the tension and strength is palpable,” said Els Woldhek, Odd Matter.

“Working with the Flexweave was very interesting, for instance when cutting it in different directions you straight away notice the differences between the fibers and the technical properties of the Flexweave. This in turn has made us really curious about everything else that is possible with the technology.”

MODLA – London, England

Co-founded by Jon Fidler and Richard Goddard, Modla is an artistic design house specializing in technological innovation, pushing the creative boundaries of 3D printing and digital 3D design. The pair created an entirely new Reebok Flexweave altitude training mask; 3D printing the valve technology across the nose and mouth, coupled with a Flexweave facial strap to comfortably wrap around the wearer’s face during intense training.

“I do a lot of high intensity training so I’m interested in how such equipment works, functions and can help improve performance. But we also saw the potential in the aesthetic of the Flexweave material, to create something which would blend with the mask and align with the contours of the wearer’s face.

As it happens, the Flexweave material provided even more benefit than just the aesthetic and was amazing to work with. It’s strong and durable, so perfect for a product that will get a lot of wear and tear; while also incredibly lightweight, making it breathable on the face for athletes when training.” said Fidler.

Short video on the partnership: http://youtu.be/RyqLZJCNMwc

“Flexweave is going to a major part of the Reebok DNA moving forward. With this creative and imaginative project, we’ve achieved exactly what we set out to do; demonstrate through collaborations in other fields what Flexweave can truly achieve when put to the ultimate test,” said James Woolard, Global Marketing Director, Reebok Running.

The Reebok Innovation Collection champions the pursuit of partnerships and innovations that will continue propelling the brand forward in spaces like fitness, fashion and footwear. Flexweave represents a huge step forward in footwear upper technology and brings with it a wave of anticipation and excitement for what the future holds for this brand”.

Reebok has extended the creative experience around Flexweave to its community, setting up an interactive digital experience on the Reebok Innovation Collective website called ‘Create Your Weave’; inviting you to construct your own virtual weave design and share it with friends.

The brand is also working with one of Savile Row’s finest tailors, Huntsman & Sons, to create a bespoke men’s suit made from Flexweave. Designed for Reebok Running ambassador and superstar WR Brandin Cooks, the experimental pursuit will be complete in Spring 2018.

Flexweave is the latest innovation from the Reebok Innovation Collective, dedicated to creating new technologies, ideas, techniques and prototypes. For more information on the Reebok Innovation Collective please visit http://www.reebok.co.uk/en-GB/innovation_collective/

Margaret Thatcher and the Middle East

A consistent strand of Margaret Thatcher’s Middle East policy was preserving regional stability as this was vital to ensuring that Moscow could not expand its influence and become a threat to Western interests.

Thirty-six years on and a resurgent Russia is once again dominant in the Middle East. Unfortunately, while Margaret Thatcher has been proved right on this score, Azriel Bermant – the author of a new book (Margaret Thatcher and the Middle East, Cambridge University Press, October 12th) – warns that Theresa May is in danger of undermining that Prime Ministerial & Conservative Party legacy due to Brexit and also the strategic misstep of her immediate public support of and supplicant friendship with President Trump.

Today with Brexit, Britain is increasingly dependent upon the United States, and therefore has even less influence than it did during the Thatcher period.

Ultimately, Thatcher sought to save the moderates of the region, and though publicly in lock step with US Middle East policy, she was privately furious yet influential with the Reagan administration. However, there are now worrying signs that the Trump administration is making the same mistake in the Middle East without Theresa May having any status or influence to temper wilder decision making. Now that Islamic State appears to be defeated, there is a danger that Washington could retreat from the region and leave a dangerous vacuum that the Russians and Iranians will be quick to exploit.

While the conflict in Syria demonstrates that the Arab-Israel conflict is peripheral to the present turmoil afflicting the region, various ideological forces, like the Soviet Union in an earlier era, are exploiting the unresolved conflict with the potential for further mayhem in the region.

If Theresa May is to become any kind of heir to Margaret Thatcher, when it comes to Middle East diplomacy, she urgently needs to learn the lessons of history to articulate and assert a distinctive British foreign policy, free of Brexit dependencies.
