Proceeds from Leap Into the New Year will benefit a wide range of SF Ballet artistic initiatives, including new works, accessible digital content, scholarships and financial aid programs for San Francisco Ballet School students, and community education programs for youth, families, and seniors. The event begins at 6 pm with access to private virtual tables; a wine education session with the event’s wine sponsor, Rodney Strong Vineyards; and behind-the-scenes content from rehearsals, followed by a 7 pm performance.

Ticket holders at the Artistic Director, Principal, Producer, and Soloist levels will enjoy VIP programming, including the pas de deux from William Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, rehearsed by Forsythe on Soloist Sasha Mukhamedov and Principal Dancer Aaron Robison, and the White Swan Pas De Deux from Helgi Tomasson’s Swan Lake performed by Fogo and MacKay.

Under the direction of Music Director Martin West, San Francisco Ballet Orchestra recorded music for the event using approved safety protocols at Skywalker Studios, 25th Street Recording, and the SF Conservatory of Music, which was produced, engineered and mastered by Leslie Ann Jones.

The evening is hosted by SF Ballet Soloist Madison Keesler, who will be styled by Neiman Marcus. All table guests will enjoy a private, virtual meet-and-greet with a Company dancer during the event and will have access to a virtual social wall where they can share photography and messages with other benefit-goers. Artistic Director and Principal level table guests will also have the option to request an on-site, socially-distanced photo-op with Drew Altizer Photography.

Tickets to the event start at $3,000 for a pair of guests or $1,600 for a virtual table of four for ENCORE! members. Guests who wish to receive a meal, wine, and gifts delivered to their home day-of must RSVP by December 31, 2020. ABOUT HELGI TOMASSON

Helgi Tomasson, one of the most venerated classical dancers of his generation, embarks on his 36th season with San Francisco Ballet in 2021. Born in Iceland, he danced with Harkness Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet, and New York City Ballet, where he distinguished himself as a dancer of technical purity, musicality, and intelligence. Tomasson assumed leadership of SF Ballet in 1985. Under his direction, SF Ballet has become a company widely recognized as one of the finest in the world.

Tomasson has balanced devotion to the classics with an emphasis on new works, cultivating frequent collaborations and commissions with choreographers such as William Forsythe, Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky, Trey McIntyre, Cathy Marston, and Mark Morris, among many others. He has choreographed more than 50 works for the Company, including full-length productions of Swan LakeThe Sleeping BeautyRomeo & Juliet (taped for Lincoln Center at the Movies’ Great American Dance), Giselle, and Nutcracker (taped for PBS’s Great Performances).

He conceptualized the 1995 UNited We Dance festival, in which SF Ballet hosted 12 international companies; the 2008 New Works Festival, which included 10 world premieres by 10 acclaimed choreographers; and 2018 Unbound: A Festival of New Works. Tomasson has also connected SF Ballet to the world, through co-commissions with companies including American Ballet Theatre, The Royal Ballet, and Dutch National Ballet; and major tours to Paris, London, New York City, China, and his native Iceland. In 2020, Tomasson received the San Francisco Arts Medallion, created by the Museum of Performance + Design to recognize those individuals whose leadership, action, and generosity have benefited the cultural life of the San Francisco Bay Area.

ABOUT THE SAN FRANCISCO BALLET

San Francisco Ballet, long recognized for pushing boundaries in dance, has enjoyed a long and rich tradition of artistic “firsts” since its founding in 1933, including performing the first American productions of Swan Lake and Nutcracker, as well as the first 20th-century American Coppélia.

SF Ballet is one of the three largest ballet companies in the United States and currently presents more than 100 performances annually, both locally and internationally. The mission of SF Ballet is to share its joy of dance with the widest possible audience—in its community and worldwide—and to provide the highest caliber of dance training in its School. Under the direction of Helgi Tomasson, the Company has achieved an international reputation as one of the preeminent ballet companies in the world.

GWEN STEFANI “LET ME REINTRODUCE MYSELF”

Global superstar Gwen Stefani releases her new reggae-tinged single “Let Me Reintroduce Myself” today on Interscope Records. With the release, Stefani is featured on New Music Daily on Apple Music. “Let Me Reintroduce Myself” is available now at all digital retailers.  Watch the lyric video for “Let Me Reintroduce Myself” HERE.

Stefani will debut the single with a performance on tonight’s episode of The Voice, airing at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT, where she is now in her fifth season as a coach on NBC’s four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series.

Recorded in quarantine and co-written with relentless hitmaker Ross Golan alongside rising songwriter/producer Luke Niccoli, the single finds Stefani reminding fans of what she does best: create vibrant, uplifting music that is real and honest to who she is as an artist.

“This song is a way of saying I’m back with new music. It’s a fun, lighthearted song because I got inspired and hope to bring a little bit of joy, said Stefani. “The idea was to write a song that had a bit of a nostalgic feeling to it, so I think musically it reminds you of back in the day, going back to where I started musically which was with ska and reggae. I’m still the same me but here’s something a little bit new in case you feel like hearing a little bit more of me.”

Musically, “Let Me Reintroduce Myself” is a full-circle moment, with an instrumental that nods to her roots with the ska-punk band No Doubt. Bass-heavy beats and breezy acoustic guitars course under and around her laid-back vocals, as Stefani confidently asserts her space in the modern musical universe: “In case you forgot—no, I’m not records on your shelf.” The single also offers a sly callback: “I already gave you bananas,” she sings playfully, nodding to the cheerleader chant on her 2005 Pharrell Williams-produced No. 1 hit, “Hollaback Girl.”

“Let Me Reintroduce Myself” caps off a busy year for Stefani. She had two top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with fiancé Blake Shelton, “Nobody But You” and “Happy Anywhere.” And her holiday album, You Make It Feel Like Christmas, was just reissued with two new songs, including Ryan Tedder co-write “Here This Christmas.”

A three-time GRAMMY® Award winner, Stefani, has achieved global success as, among other accomplishments, a performer, songwriter, frontwoman for ska-punk heroes No Doubt, and multi-platinum solo artist. To date, she’s sold more than 50 million units worldwide. Her 2015 solo album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. If 2020 is any indication, listeners should keep an eye out for more from Stefani soon.

Paris Jackson’s Late-Night Debut

Paris Jackson made her late-night television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! performing “let down” from her debut album wilted. This eleven-song album was released via Republic Records in early November. Upon its release, wilted received widespread critical acclaim and climbed to #1 on the iTunes US Alternative Albums Chart. Filmed at the world-famous Viper Room on the Sunset Strip, the performance illuminates the nuances of her presence and understated, yet palpable star-power.

Jackson has gained amazing reviews from a variety of publications. Rolling Stone labeled Jackson’s music as “well-crafted indie-pop,” while People said “Paris Jackson is blazing her own path in the music industry.” While talking about her album, wilted, the New York Post said, “There is a dreamy wooziness, a sultry torchiness, a haunting moodiness to ‘wilted’…”

While Paris hails from one of the most successful families in music history, she is best known for her activism, acting & modeling work, the latter of which has seen her front campaigns for international brands like Calvin Klein, grace the cover of top fashion magazines, including numerous Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar titles, and make her runway debut earlier this year at Jean-Paul Gaultier’s final show.

On the acting front, Paris has taken on several TV and film roles, collaborating with acclaimed industry professionals, including Lee Daniels, Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton, and Rachel Winters. Aside from music, Paris’ biggest passion has always been in using her platform to shine light on causes important to her, notably going off script while presenting at the Grammy Awards and MTV VMAs, to highlight the Dakota Access Pipeline and events of racial injustice in Charlottesville, respectively.

Paris also serves as an Ambassador for the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF) and is passionate about continuing her godmother’s legacy of ridding the stigma and finding a cure for the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Pirelli Elect

The Porsche Taycan is the first car to use Pirelli Elect tires.

With low rolling resistance to increase autonomy, decreased road noise, immediate grip that puts the power down for a quick getaway and a special structure to support the weight of a battery-powered vehicle, Pirelli Elect tires are changing the game.

They are developed specially with leading car manufacturers to meet specific technical requirements of and be compatible with electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

The Elect marking, which was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019, is the distinguishing factor. It is available as original equipment for the most modern cars.

The new P Zero Elect was developed by Pirelli’s own engineers for the Porsche Taycan, and they capitalize on the already staggering performance.

Pirelli’s perfect fit philosophy was the baseline for the tire, and the compound, construction and tread pattern suit the Taycan to a tee.

Even with the power and low-down torque of the Taycan, the Pirelli tires give the driver autonomy, grip and reduced noise, enhancing drivability and perfecting safety.

All drivers of Taycan can now feel comfortable with tires designed with fully electric cars in mind.

Pirelli has also created Elect versions of their Winter Sottozero 3, Scorpion Winter and P Zero Winter for all of the laws mandating winter tires in many different countries. The P Zero Winter is available in 19-inch and 20-inch sizes.

Winter tires are recommended for those who put in a lot of miles in the cold or simply want the best performance in harsh conditions.

When temperatures drop below 44 degrees, summer tires are unable to perform to their maximum capabilities. Winter tires are softer, allowing them to work even when temperatures drop below zero, providing secure braking.

Adaptogens for Athletic Performance: What You Should Know

Could adaptogenic supplements and herbs help improve athletic performance? Well, every athlete is looking for an edge, and it should be something that will make them better than their competitor – legally, of course. At the very least, it should help them improve endurance, focus, strength, oxygen utilization, mood elevation, and recovery from long workouts faster.

While various solutions can help them reach peak performance levels, the list of natural solutions is relatively small. Some synthetic solutions are banned for their specific sports, while others come with side effects. Finding a natural solution that will elevate their performance without these side effects can be a blessing for the typical athlete.

Luckily, adaptogens offer just that. All an athlete will need to do is to introduce them into their diet. Here is what you should know about adaptogens and how they can elevate an athlete’s performance:

What Are Adaptogens?

Adaptogens are non-toxic plants that help the body cope with stress better, whether physical, mental, or biological. These herbs have been around for centuries and have been used in Chinese and Ayurvedic healing traditions. While some can be consumed as part of a diet, others are mainly brewed into teas or consumed as supplements. Each herb’s benefits might differ from one herb to another, but the general benefit is stress relief.

How Adaptogens Work?

Adaptogens help maintain the right balance in the adrenal system, which is responsible for releasing the stress hormone. Anytime you are dealing with stress, you are likely to develop adrenal fatigue. While stress is supposed to be a temporary state of wellbeing, people are always stressed in today’s environment.

Stress might arise from heavy workout sessions for athletes, having their name circulated in the media, and even family and career problems. The faster they can deal with this stress, the easier it will be to focus on improving their performance.

Sadly, this constant stress often leads to adrenal fatigue. This results in people experiencing symptoms like having a craving for salty foods, extreme fatigue, weakened immune system, and irritability. Different adaptogens relieve the body of this stress in a variety of ways. Here are three adaptogens every athlete should consider trying:

  • Ashwagandha

Athletes who want to perform optimally can always rely on Ashwagandha benefits. Being among the most vital Ayurvedic herbs, Ashwagandha is known to improve brain health, boost adrenal functions, increase stamina and endurance, and improve moods. It also plays a crucial role in controlling cortisol levels in the body.

Cortisol is a stress hormone that is mainly released by the adrenal glands to respond to stress. If the cortisol levels in the body become chronically elevated, the athlete can experience increased fat storage in the abdomen and high blood sugar levels.

  • Rhodiola Flower

The impact of Rhodiola on athletic performance and recovery is an issue that has been widely researched. The plant boasts anti-fatigue, anti-hypoxic, anti-stress, immune-enhancing, antioxidant, and sexual stimulation properties. Besides increasing oxygen rate use in the muscles, it also helps produce creatine phosphate and ATP.

The fact that it is also an antioxidant and can lower elevated cortisol levels also makes it ideal for athletes’ consumption. These benefits can help enhance muscle strength and stamina during periods when peak performance is required. Research has also shown that the herb can also help with perceived exertion, assisting athletes in working harder for longer.

  • Ginseng

Ginseng has, for long, been a prized energy enhancer in Chinese medicine. The adaptogenic herb has its primary active ingredients in its roots, which are known as ginsenosides. These active ingredients increase strength by enhancing creatine production. In one Canadian research, ginseng was administered to rats for four days. Observations showed that the rats extended their exercise time to exhaustion since the herb encouraged the body to burn fat for fuels and spare glucose.

This proved that the herb could increase endurance and aid in fat loss. Ginseng also helps lower muscle fatigue by inhibiting the production of serotonin in the body. Since the body has low levels of hormones that signal exhaustion, you can train for longer.

How to Include Adaptogens in Your Diet

For athletes to enjoy the benefits adaptogens have in store for them, they need to include them in their diet. While they are used to complement well-balanced nutrition plans, adaptogens aren’t in any way meant to substitute living a healthy lifestyle. They should be included in a diet that already has whole food components like carbohydrates, proteins, and vitamins within them.

In case you want to add them to your diet, you might only need to buy premixed powder before using it to spice up your food. Alternatively, you can also mix most of these herbs with teas or combine their tinctures with water.

Some adaptogens are also sold as capsules to be taken as supplements. However, athletes need to be careful with the specific pills they choose. Reading the ingredient list will help them assess whether the supplements will improve their workout routines and performance, without causing any side effects.

Adaptogens Contribute To Your Long-Term Health

When taken consistently, adaptogens will do more than enhance an athlete’s performance in the gym or a sport. They promise long-term health benefits without the side effects of most exercise supplements, such as sleep disruption and irritability. Unlike other supplements that the body forms a tolerance towards and demands more of, to enjoy the same effects, adaptogen benefits increase with usage.

The more you use adaptogens, the more you can enjoy their stress-reducing qualities. These herbs are also known to adjust themselves to the specific needs of the user. For instance, if one user has low cortisol levels, they can encourage the body to produce more. Ideally, the herb you opt for during your training will depend on the benefits you need and its availability.

Adaptogens Are Great for Your Overall Health

Your training sessions and performance need every boost they can find out there. Adaptogens happen to offer performance enhancements while improving your overall health. Consider including them into your diet today to enjoy the above benefits and more.

As Wonho makes his first step as a solo artist with this eight-track mini album, he showcases not only his vocal skills; but also his lyrical, compositional, and production skills.

The title ‘Love Synonym’ symbolizes a new start that is different from Wonho’s music style and performances that he has shown before. ‘Love Synonym’ is a new definition of love that Wonho created in order to show his pledges and determinations that he will communicate with his fans. Wonho expressed his earnestness by participating in writing and composing five songs, including the title track “Open Mind” and the pre-released single “Losing You.”

Buzz surrounding his pre-released single, “Losing You,” which was dedicated to the fans who thought they may have lost him, took the U.S. Market by storm. Upon release, #WONHO_LosingYou_MV shot up to the #1 Twitter Trend Worldwide; and received notable mentions from publications such as PAPER Magazine, MTV News, Access, iHeart, and Rolling Stone, who stated,

“Performed entirely in English, the sweeping, piano-driven ballad showcases Wonho’s delicate falsetto, as he sings about protecting a cherished love despite all costs.”

Wonho also spoke to Forbes and Teen Vogue about his solo ventures.

“While these weren’t easy moments to face and endure, it was a time that made me think a lot and that allowed me to develop and grow — that was very important and precious for me. I thought of the fans waiting and supporting me … I feel a little more mature, and like I have more to say to the world.”

Late last year, Wonho’s fans tirelessly put forth efforts to show him he wasn’t alone in this world. Their message was heard globally, loud and clear; with multiple hashtags trending worldwide on twitter for weeks on end, online petitions garnering half a million signatures, fans taking it to the streets of Seoul writing supportive notes, and putting up billboards in Times Square, China and all over the world to support him.

As told by Forbes, “…fans had shown their support for the artist by sending the 2017 song “From Zero,” a special track co-written and producer by Wonho, to No. 1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart to help prove his continuing viability and commercial appeal as an artist, songwriter and producer.”

After months of fan-driven fundraisers, online petitions, Twitter trends and love; Wonho is thrilled to be giving back to his fans. His fanbase’s new name is Wenne; and the fandom name represents the special bond between Wonho and his fans, who have been there to support him through the ups and downs.

Wonho sings passionately on the track “Coz anytime or place I’d be your shield, when you feel, like you ain’t got the fight in you to heal.”

The release of “Losing You” is Wonho’s first step forward in his solo career after signing with Highline Entertainment, which is a subsidiary label of Starship Entertainment—the home to K-pop groups including Monsta X, WJSN and Cravity—and houses viral EDM star DJ Soda [Read HERE on Forbes]. Back in early April, Wonho also joined Maverick Management’s roster, alongside Britney Spears, Madonna, The Weeknd, and many more big-name artists.

Labrinth Performs Songs From ‘Euphoria’

For the first time since his Emmy nominations, Labrinth performed songs from the score and soundtrack of the hit HBO series “Euphoria.”

Presented by HBO themselves, fans of the show were treated to “forever,” “still don’t know my name,” “when I r.i.p.” and “all for us.”

Including Labrinth’s for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, “Euphoria” racked up six nominations. In her most adult-friendly role to date, Zendaya picked up a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and we can probably all guess which scene we’ll see when her name is announced as a nominee.

This video is proof that “Euphoria” isn’t leaving gorgeous colors and cinematography behind after the first season. It comes complete with everything but Labrinth wearing “Euphoria” makeup. Rich blues, purples and pinks set us up to be completely lost in the performance the way we were lost in the show.

HBO renewed “Euphoria” for a second season before the first season even ended, but because of production delays, we don’t have a release date yet.

Lovers of the show can still tune in to the 72nd Primetime Emmys on Sept. 20 to cheer for Zendaya, Labrinth and all of the other talented artists and creators responsible for “Euphoria.”

To see the entire performance, you can click right here. You can find “Euphoria” streaming now on HBO Max, and you can listen to the score right here.
