TOP MUSIC ORGANIZATIONS AND CHARITABLE FOUNDATIONS AND MORE MAKE MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MUSICARES® COVID-19 RELIEF FUND

STARTED BY THE RECORDING ACADEMY® AND MUSICARES®, THE FUND PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR MUSIC CREATORS AND INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS AFFECTED BY THE PANDEMIC

Music industry associations, including the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences®, and the Country Music Association; ticket marketplace StubHub; record label conglomerates Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group; financial institution City National Bank; concert promotion, artist management, touring, and publishing company Bill Silva Entertainment; and charitable foundations and trusts including the Gross Family Foundation, George Harrison’s Material World Foundation, the Michael Jackson Estate, Alicia Keys’ She Is The Music foundation and the Yoshiki Foundation America are the latest organizations that have made major contributions to the COVID-19 Relief Fund established by the Recording Academy® and its affiliated charitable organization MusiCares®.

The MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund was created to help music people affected by the pandemic due to the cancellation of income-generating music events and other industry work opportunities. Since the fund’s establishment two weeks ago with initial seed donations of $1 million each by MusiCares and the Recording Academy, millions more have been raised with the support of numerous partners. However, more is needed to meet the demand.

“We are thrilled that so many in our community are coming forward to support each other and grateful for all the organizations who are standing in the gap for the music community, said Harvey Mason jr. Chair and Interim President/CEO of the Recording Academy. “The music community remains in desperate need and many are living day to day whether they are a gigging musician, sound engineer or event logistics person. The impacts of this virus are very real as many struggle to know where their next rent payment is coming from  or how next week’s groceries are going to be paid for, so our fund is there to help meet needs in a small way.”

Beyond the initial donations, all Recording Academy Chapters have committed to fundraising in their local communities. Additionally, the Recording Academy appealed to Congress to further protect musicians, performers, songwriters, and studio professionals such as self-employed gig workers who are impacted by cancellations due to the ongoing pandemic. The stimulus package has since passed, and includes key provisions and protections that will benefit countless music industry professionals who are struggling in the wake of Coronavirus.

With the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, music industry professionals, including artists, production crews, technicians, and anyone impacted by the loss of income due to live music event cancelations, can apply for basic living assistance.

LISTEN TO MODUS VIVENDI HERE

“A vital new singer makes her debut…an emo-rap Dark Side Of The Moon …Modus Vivendi suggests Enya and Pink Floyd as much as Frank Ocean…the sound of a realist and fantasist sparring, it reflects an artist still coming into focus on her own thrilling terms.”

“Ms. Balbuena’s voice is the record’s most extraordinary feature… The lush sonic backdrop, infused with strings and gentle drones, conveys an ethereal chamber-music setting altogether unusual for hip-hop and R&B.”

“On ‘Modus Vivendi’, she manages to craft a sound that’s anthemic, and built for festivals and clubs; but within the grooves, she’s precise… This is project sculpted away from current trends.”

“A sprawling journey across the emotional spectrum… while adequately booming, there’s a certain intimacy to ‘Modus;’ there are no featured verses — no voice other than Balbuena’s rasping lines across nearly an hour of music… the singularity of this project beams through with unsettling clarity.”

“She is constantly playing with contrasts—raw and smooth, light and dark, harsh and tender—and the songs on Modus Vivendi seem to shift with her mood.”

About 070 Shake
The title of 070 Shake’s debut album is Modus Vivendi — a Latin phrase used to reference a way of life in which two opposing parties can coexist peacefully. Art has always been Shake’s way of life, whether writing poetry as an outlet for depression or crafting playful rhymes about her teammates on bus rides to high school basketball games. “It was an escape for me with all of the frustrations and voices that were going on in my head. I’ve always felt that I had to do something with these words.”

All the way back to her childhood, this individualistic charm has always led the New Jersey-raised talent to stand out. Traditional schooling just wasn’t for Shake. Rather, she stuck out from peers with a natural knack for poetry and a profound love for basketball, even being deemed “Shake” for her crossover dribble. As she grew older, Shake became known for her rebellious nature, constantly causing trouble at school with countless pranks and a disinterest toward academics.

It was during these years, however, that Shake began to hone her artistic identity. From writing poems to falling in love with the cadences and storytelling of artists such as Alicia Keys and Kanye West, she quickly found a desire to start making music. Soon after, Shake began recording in a friend’s studio up until 2016, when the intensely vulnerable song “Proud” caught the ear of the legendary G.O.O.D. Music camp.

Shake signed to the label later that year, transitioning from manning kids’ bouncy castles in New Jersey to working with the likes of G.O.O.D. Music labelmates Kanye West and Pusha T, among others. Come 2018, she released the deeply personal EP, Glitter — a six-track culmination of diverse sounds and genres meant to chronicle the realities of love, depression, substance, and pain. Maintaining the same creativity that once fueled her high school poetry, she began to turn heads in the music world, becoming one of the year’s most talked-about names with her features on several other G.O.O.D. Music releases, namely the soul-stricken outro on Kanye West’s “Ghost Town” and her haunting vocals on Pusha T’s “Santeria.”

Today, in the wake of the release of Modus Vivendi, Shake is focused on bringing her reflective style to the spotlight with boundary-pushing creativity and pure emotional honesty as her compass. Detailing her creative process, “I just really go with how I feel in the moment and then that’s where the writing comes from. It’s like an ongoing disperse of words when I feel something.”

In a world obsessed with consumption, Shake is a much-needed breath of fresh air, more than ready to make her impact felt through music. In her own words, “I want it to make a change in the world. The agenda is bigger than just music.”

TM88 – “Tokyo Nights”

TM88 RELEASES “TOKYO NIGHTS (FEAT. MADEINTYO)”

LISTEN HERE

MORE NEW MUSIC FROM TM88 COMING SOON

Today, GRAMMY Award-nominated powerhouse producer, artist, DJ, and Taylor Gang affiliate TM88 drops “Tokyo Nights (feat. MadeinTYO).” Listen HERE.

The track comes in hot following TM88 producing “P2” off of Lil Uzi Vert’s  Billboard Top 200 number 1 album, Eternal Atake in addition to following up from TM88 & Smokepurpp’s joint single “RR.”

“Tokyo Nights (feat. MadeinTYO)” has a late-night cruising vibe to it. The track features fellow Atlanta native, MadeinTYO, known for his hit “Uber Everywhere,” rapping about the ladies and foreign cars encountered in a night out in Tokyo over TM88’s tranquil yet vigorous beats.

“I really wanted to bring the feel of a real Tokyo night to life racing through the neon light streets with a couple of beautiful women and just living the night of my life with my bro MadeinTYO,” says TM88.

The track came together organically at TM88’s home studio in LA when he was cooking up beats with all of his homeboys around -Southside, Travis Scott, Trinidad James, Sheck Wes, and Wheezy. TM88 recalls MadeinTYO pulled up and was ready to work after the duo already made 8 songs together that week. The rest was history. TM88 is a staple in the Atlanta trap scene and hip-hop.

As an artist he holds over 70 million streams and has collaborated with Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Future, Juicy J, Gunna, Moneybagg Yo, Wiz Khalifa, Project Pat, Lil Yachty, Valee and more. Under his belt, TM88 has production credits building an impressive discography of both superstars and rising rappers from Drake “Company”, to 21 Savage “Drip”, to Travis Scott “Nothing but Net” to the late XXXTENTACION “going down!”. Not to mention TM88’s somber infused beats are a key component to Lil Uzi Vert’s global smash-hit “XO Tour Llif3.”

The record is currently seven-times platinum certified from the RIAA. Cementing himself as a singular voice within Atlanta, TM88 maintains his position at the forefront of the pack. In fact, he does more than just influence the style of his hometown; he regularly pushes it to level up. He went from selling beats for $40 a pop at 12-years-old to co-founding 808 Mafia and eventually arriving as a solo musical force on the heels of a string of smashes.

“TM88 (is) serving as one of the hottest track makers in the industry now”

“(A) hitmaker”

“Atlanta’s finest”

“The producer’s enchanting beats have served as the base to a plethora of hits along the years if you check the liner notes”

COLLEGE SOPHOMORE MAKES 3-D MASKS

Although Cedarville University sophomore Connor Hart of Loveland, Ohio has more than two years remaining in college, he is putting his education in 3-D printing to work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a freshman, Hart, the founder of Hands of Hope Foundation, started creating 3-D prosthetics for children with limb differences.  Since social distancing has become protocol to help flatten the COVID-19 curve, Hart stopped meeting with his clients, but switched to printing masks that could help medical professionals and nursing homes during the pandemic.

“What I love most about working for Hands of Hope is knowing I am positively impacting the lives of both our clients and volunteers,” expressed Hart. “Knowing I provided joy to someone else with no strings attached is what keeps me smiling and driven toward giving others the same opportunities I have been given.”

His love for others fits perfectly with the core values that are espoused throughout the university: Love for God, Love for Others, Integrity in Conduct, and Excellence in Effort.

Motivated by his care for others and multiple news reports about the shortage of qualified masks for doctors and nurses, Hart searched for a way he could pitch in. When the Hands of Hope Foundation received encouragement from a team of doctors about the need for masks, he decided to begin printing and distributing reusable masks. Hart started making 3-D plastic masks last week and sent them to various medical facilities.

Hart, who is majoring in mechanical engineering, can make eight masks a day through his 3-D printing equipment and has printed and shipped 25 masks so far. Each mask can be sanitized to allow for extended use.

According to Hart, each mask is completely reusable, meaning one mask can last for months if it is sanitized effectively and the filter is changed regularly. Hands of Hope Foundation has shipped masks to medical agencies, including a nursing home in Holgate, Ohio.

Hands of Hope Foundation has shipped masks to medical agencies, including a nursing home in Holgate, Ohio.

Hands of Hope started in September 2015 when Hart and three classmates at Milford High School in Milford, Ohio, volunteered to create a 3D-printed prosthetic for Hope McGill, a 7-year-old girl from the community missing her left arm from the elbow down.

“Hope was adopted from China. She had been taught from an early age to hide her arm, making her self-conscious about it. Because of the prosthetic, Hope became more confident in her little arm,” noted Catherine McGill, Hope’s older sister and a Cedarville student.

Hands of Hope became a club at Milford High School and made prosthetics for three other children. However, in the spring of 2018, Milford High School decided to drop Hands of Hope as an extracurricular group due to a lack of interest from the student body. Not wanting to see the organization dissolved, Hart transformed Hands of Hope into an official nonprofit and invited Catherine McGill to serve as the Foundation’s media director.

Hart and McGill created The Hands of Hope Foundation’s chapter on Cedarville University’s campus. This was made possible by Cedarville’s school of engineering and computer science.

“Connor went the extra mile prior to coming to campus for his freshman fall semester,” said Robert Chasnov, dean of the school of engineering and computer science and senior professor of engineering. “He needed a space for the 3D printers he uses to manufacture the hands his team would be designing. Since we had a project lab that was being used primarily to store mobile test equipment, I set him up in that space.”

Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 4,380 undergraduate, graduate and online students in more than 150 areas of study. Founded in 1887, Cedarville is recognized nationally for its authentic Christian community, rigorous academic programs, including its Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering program, strong graduation and retention rates, accredited professional and health science offerings and leading student satisfaction ratings. Simon Lewis, Head of Crisis Response, British Red Cross said: “This unprecedented global health emergency requires us all to pull together. As part of the British Red Cross response to coronavirus, we’re delving deep into the heart of communities across the UK to help strengthen support for the most vulnerable people through delivering essential food parcels and medicines to those unable to get out.

We have been overwhelmed by the kindness shown across the country, not only by our increasing number of volunteers, but also our longstanding partners.
