In honor of Women’s History Month, the Bob Marley: Legacy mini-documentary series continues with episode two: ‘Women Rising’ The moving and empowering short premiered today on Bob Marley’s official YouTube channel and features interviews with Rita Marley, also known as Bob Marley’s wife and the matriarch of the Marley Family, whose strength and character is an inspiration for people around the world. Rita was an integral part of the Wailers musical development, as well as a constant presence and influence in Bob Marley’s life, guardian of his legacy, and a member of the Iconic Reggae Group I-Threes.  Mrs. Marley is also the founder of the Rita Marley Foundation, which works to eradicate poverty and hunger while empowering communities in Ghana and Jamaica. Her life’s work epitomizes integrity and grace.

Bob Marley: Legacy Episode 2 – ‘Women Rising’ also features Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt of the I-Threes, Mystic Marley, Donisha Prendergast,  academic and writer Isis Semaj-Hall, former activist, campaigner and former councilor Seyi Akiwowo and Stella Dadzie writer & historian, Kim Walker, photographer, and more championing women and the messages in Bob Marley’s music. Last month’s episode, Bob Marley: Legacy Episode 1 ‘75 Years A Legend,’ is a refreshing and cinematic journey through the life, legacy, and relevance that Bob Marley still holds in this present day and is also available now on Bob Marley’s official YouTube channel.

In other news, due to recent CDC restrictions and guidelines, The BeachLife Festival has been postponed until further notice. Ziggy Marley & Stephen Marley will be performing together at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA on August 19 (Tickets here) and Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY on August 20 (Tickets here).

Reggae Legends at Adults Only Hollywood

360 Magazine joined LA’s treasure speakeasy, Adults Only Bar, for an epic night of Reggae music & dance. This new event, “Reggae Legends”, recoups traditional Reggae classics with renowned artists such as Fully Fullwood, Rock Deadrick, Michael Hyde and Linda Taylo for a fantastic evening at the hidden lounge in Hollywood. Adults Only showcased a lavish decor with a cinematic theme. Break down & boogie and enjoy ravishing hand-crafted cocktails from the Happy Hour Menu, displayed on mature menus while others on the back of artsy VHS boxes. The dim lighting and live band filled the venue with a swaying sound that made for an intimate ambiance.

Shaggy x Massari

Legendary reggae musician, Shaggy teamed up with Canadian crooner, Massari to release their new record, “Why” via 300 Entertainment and Brooklyn Knights Entertainment. With an accompanying lyric video, “Why” is an uptempo club jam with a smooth chorus.

“Why” comes shortly after Shaggy released his brassy reggae record with Sting, “Don’t Make Me Wait.” The surprise duo are gearing up to release their collaborative album, 44/876 via A&M/Interscope Records. After a string of performances and appearances on the 60th Anniversary Grammy Awards and Good Morning America, the two Grammy winners will embark on a European tour this summer.

Shaggy’s legacy in entertainment goes beyond reggae music. His multi-platinum singles “Oh Carolina”, “Boombastic,” “It Wasn’t Me” and “Angel,” have ushered in an undeniable influx of Caribbean-inspired flare into today’s pop music.
