thuy – i hope u see this (deluxe)

Vietnamese singer-songwriter thuy (pronounced twee) released the deluxe edition of her critically-acclaimed debut EP, i hope u see this. The fourteen-track project is a reflection of thuy‘s truth, unraveling the complexities of love through a utopia of harmonies that spotlight heartbreak, love, empowerment, and self-confidence. i hope u see this (deluxe) introduces five more reasons as to how thuy is paving the future for modern R&B in her own right.

“The deluxe project is a continuation of the theme that I’m closing the door on the past in order to enter a new chapter in my life,” thuy said with excitement about the deluxe EP.

i hope u see this (deluxe) is a cohesive body of work that celebrates thuy‘s innate musicality. It’s a consistent approach, meant to be played in any setting that honors emotion. Songs like “distance between us” prove that thuy’s regaining control over those overwhelming thoughts and unwanted feelings that have sapped her energy over the years. Her smooth vocals permeate the work, flirting over bouncy percussion that grinds into a catchy hook with “inhibitions” featuring P-Lo

When trying to make sense of thuy, you’re introduced to a fiery songstress that’s capable of making the best out of a bad situation. “in my bag” featuring Destiny Rogers channels those elements of misfortune into a deeper meaning that encourages listeners to remain focused in the face of adversity.  Diving deeper into the remix, thuy explains, “the ‘in my bag’ remix with Destiny Rogers is a major women empowerment anthem and that’s why I knew I wanted to get another female artist on it. Destiny Rogers was the perfect feature for this remix; she just exudes confidence and drive. I wanted to really embody the idea that women can be bosses and to never count us out of anything because we always come out on top!”

The project shares a beautiful and introspective collection of records touching on heartbreak, love, empowerment, and self-confidence. Yarge – El Vuelo

Venezuelan artist Yarge released her latest single and music video, “El Vuelo,” a soft, melodic song about being in a long-distance relationship. See HERE.

A perfect blend of pop, R&B and hip-hop, “El Vuelo” showcases Yarge’s effortless voice and identifiable lyrics.  “The Flight” (English translation) is a story of two lovers who have been separated by living conditions, and captures the feeling of wanting to take a flight to see someone you love.

Yarge sings, “and let the bad be left behind / we no longer have to suffer / we are going to love each other and we are going to see each other / imagine that it happens like this”, asking to leave behind evil and suffering and imagine being together.

The music video was filmed in Caracas, Venezuela, and delves into the history of wanting to be with someone but not being in the same place. The video reflects images of Yarge and her lover doing FaceTiming and wishing to be together.

“For me, ‘The flight’ is so special for its lyrics and its rhythm, since when we started producing it I really wanted to give it that very marked R&B vibe… [but] as we were advancing with the beat we added hip hop and… [less] reggaeton.

Yarge is the first Latina woman to sign with United Masters and her first single with United Masters, “más de mi,” garnered more than 300,000 views in the first two weeks of release.

Kendy X × Dreamdoll × Kalan.FrFr – For Me

Rising Westcoast R&B artist Kendy X sets her mark with today’s remix release of “For Me” with Bronx-born rapper Dreamdoll and Los Angeles’ own Kalan.FrFr. Available to stream and purchase now, the trifecta forces unleash an irresistible remix to Kendy X’s debut single, which was met with praise last year upon immediate release.

Kendy X shares “For Me is the most important song on the EP, because it shows the transformation into a bad bitch.” She continues with, “The whole project is about finding yourself and becoming the woman you are meant to be and not changing for anybody. On For Me, I’m saying, this is for me. I can get shit on my own. I can do whatever I want to do. It’s meant to empower women. I’ve been listening to Kalan.FrFr since high school, so it was a dream to do a song with him. DreamDoll is such a powerful woman who demands respect. She embodies the spirit of the song.”

A soon-to-be expert with weaving elements of R&B, Hip Hop, and New-Age Pop with her forthcoming body of work, “For Me” Remix serves as a savory exemplification for the gleaming rising star as she prepares to keep the momentum at a staggering high this year.

Last year, in addition to setting the tone with her single “For Me,” Kendy X swiftly made a lasting mark with her strides as a co-founder of The Rose Fest Music Festival. Kendy X and a team of creatives, including her sister Ry Dope and creative director Phillip Riian created a platform for emerging musicians to showcase their bubbling stardom on a major platform stage with appeal compared to music festivals alike. The inaugural festival, which took place in Orange County, California, received national attention for the powerful initiative that also called on established artists such as Mozzy, Eric Bellinger, Rubi Rose, Day Sulan, Stunna Girl, and more to headline the joyous event. Kendy X made her eagerly awaited debut performance at The Rose Fest Music Festival, where she performed “For Me” along with an array of soon-to-be-released music that is set to make up her official debut project that is currently on the horizon.

About Kendy X

Kendy X gained her grind mentality from a childhood dedicated to gymnastics and now she applies it to music with her own scorching and sizzling brand of R&B. The Chicago-born and Long Beach-raised singer,  and songwriter hustles with the heart of an athlete as she simultaneously projects a fresh and fiery presence across the culture.

Kendy X’s vision begins to unfold on her 2022 independent debut project and much more to come. “Even though gymnastics and music are completely different, gymnastics taught me work ethic and how to perform in front of people,” she affirms. “The dedication helped me in the long run. I learned how to put all of my effort into what I want to do—and just do it.”

She devoted the first eighteen years of life to gymnastics, until torn ligaments in her knee derailed an ambition to compete in The Olympics. Along the way, she picked up cello and piano in middle school and always wrote songs of her own. Inspired by her older sister Ry Dope, she penned her first tune at just six-years-old. Meanwhile, her dad played multiple instruments, specializing in guitar and songwriting and enjoying local success back in Chicago.

Despite its influence on the periphery of her life, she fully embraced music in 2019.

“After I stopped training, music came in,” she admits. “I found my new passion to focus on. It always got me through difficult times. This moment was no exception.”

From that point forward, she went full steam ahead throughout 2021. Kendy X hit the studio and recorded what would become her soon to be released EP. Produced by Ayo & Keyz [Cardi B, Chris Brown, Bryson Tiller], the first single “For Me” served as a slick and sexy introduction to her signature style. As the original version generated over 1 million total streams, Kalan.FrFr and DreamDoll stunted on the Remix with surefire star power.

In the end, Kendy X has become just what she was always meant to be—a force of nature.

Abby Jasmine via Interscope Records for use by 360 Magazine

Abby Jasmine – SOS

Abby Jasmine delivered her first music of 2021 with the emotional and reflective “SOS.” The song shows the Staten Island native delving deeper into singing and songwriting with a hazy, harmonic track. The single follows up late 2020’s deluxe edition of Who Cares, Jasmine’s expanded nine-track EP, which featured Guapdad4000, Kash Juliano, and Smoke DZA. Listen to “SOS” by Abby Jasmine HERE

“When I wrote the song, I had this visual of me drowning,” Abby shares. She says she applied the sinking effect to drowning in feelings, addictions, and relationships. This idea inspired a dreamy song that sounds like its title. “I know I got something to say with you; I get tired of saving you,” Abby sings while checking a romantic partner on their behavior. The melody and harmony in the chorus reflect Jasmine’s heavy listening diet of early 2000s R&B.

About Abby Jasmine

Recording since she was a toddler, Abby Jasmine belongs to a musical family, with a Jazz musician for a father. By her teens, the Staten Island native flexed her music and her strong personality online. She reached millions through Vine, showing aspects of her life intermixed with singing and freestyles. Social media became a launchpad to a music career. In the late 2010s, she released Trap Mom and follow-up EPs: Abbnormal and I Hate You All. Songs like “No Hook” and “Relax” presented a woman with a slick pen, dreamy vocals, and a Big Apple attitude. Both achieved nearly seven figures in streams. Jonny shipes’ Cinematic Music Group signed Abby. By 2020’s sophomore LP Who Cares? Geffen joined in, drawn by the artist who continued to show range.

Now 23, Abby continues to focus on her craft and be a student of life. “I’ve just been taking time out to self-reflect, spend more time with people that matter to me,” the artist says. After prioritizing herself, Abby Jasmine’s time for reflection eventually returned her to the studio, where Jasmine self-recorded personal and bold music, beginning with “SOS.” Now, with her EP I Hate You 2 on the way and with three major US festivals in her future, the buzzing genre purveyor only continues to prove that she’s someone to pay attention to in 2021.
