Grammy winner Jazmine Sullivan earns place on Time100 via 360 Magazine

Jazmine Sullivan – TIME100

TIME has named Jazmine Sullivan to the 2022 TIME100, its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The full list and related tributes will appear in the June 6 / June 13 double issue of TIME, available on newsstands on Friday, May 27, and now at time.com/time100

The list, now in its nineteenth year, recognizes the impact, innovation, and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals, and there’s no denying that Jazmine took the world by storm with her lauded Heaux Tales project. With vulnerable lyrics and candid spoken word tales, the project won a GRAMMY Award for Best R&B Album and the RIAA-certified Platinum single, “Pick Up Your Feelings,” won a GRAMMY for Best R&B Song. Earlier this year, Jazmine won three 2022 NAACP Image Awards – Outstanding Female Artist, Outstanding Album and Soul/R&B Song (“Pick Up Your Feelings”). Last year, Sullivan collected a BET Award for Album of the Year, plus two Soul Train Music Awards for Best Album/Mixtape and Best R&B/Soul Female Artist.

Heaux Tales landed at #1 on several best of the year lists, including NPRLos Angeles TimesEntertainment WeeklyPitchforkVulture; and within the top 10 on The New York Times (#4), FADER (#5), Complex (#5), Rolling Stone (#7), Billboard (#9), Time (#10), and more. After the year-long impact of Heaux Tales, Sullivan released Heaux Tales, Mo’ Tales: The Deluxe on February 11, 2022, which contained four new tracks and five new tales, including one from “Insecure” actress, writer, producer Issa Rae.

In the coming months, fans can see Jazmine at the following summer festivals:

Orlando Funk Fest (6/3), The Roots Picnic (6/4-6/5), Governors Ball (6/10), Essence Fest (7/2), Lollapalooza (7/28), and Austin City Limits Music Festival (10/7-9 & 14-16).

From her first single “Need U Bad,” Jazmine Sullivan demonstrated an innate ability to write songs that perfectly capture the stories of so many Black women. Sullivan has a lyrical vulnerability that makes you think she has been reading your journal. She is so deserving of her most recent Grammy win, along with acclaim and other accolades that have been an honor to witness. But the most exciting part of her recent career journey has been that Sullivan has allowed us to share in her journey to self-love, removing herself from the shadows of fear as we can clearly see in her 2021 album Heaux Tales. In her speech during last year’s 2021 Soul Train Music Awards, she shared that she had made a vow to be present and not to hide away. It is this type of candor that makes Sullivan such an inspiration and icon to so many Black women including myself. It has truly been my pleasure to call her a friend over the years and I want to thank her for being an example of what happens when you believe in your gift and trust God’s calling for your life.

Isaac Dunbar – Fool’s Paradise

Isaac Dunbar released his latest single, “Fool’s Paradise,” out now via RCA Records. Written and produced by Isaac, the emotive, piano-driven ballad examines the complexities of unrequited love. Propelled by Isaac’s melodic vocals, “Fool’s Paradise” is an operatic exploration of disillusionment and what happens when one no longer ignores the red flags waving in front of them.

“I wrote ‘Fool’s Paradise’ about my struggle between discerning what is real and what is fake with the relationships in my life,” says Isaac. “It’s about the process of waking up to mistreatment, manipulation and reading in between the lines. It’s about breaking those cycles. ‘Fool’s Paradise’ is a song for the delusional girls.”

Joining the previously released rebellious pop-anthem “Bleach” and the disco-infused “Tainted Love,” “Fool’s Paradise” serves as the latest release off Isaac’s highly anticipated forthcoming EP, Banish The Banshee. A series of sonic parables inspired by love, loss, shame, and joy, Banish The Banshee is a conceptual body of work that illustrates the stories of Isaac’s life so far through the lens of his alter-ego, the banshee.

Banish The Banshee is out May 27 via RCA Records, pre-order it HERE

About Isaac Dunbar

19-year-old Isaac Dunbar has carved out a spectacular and unique lane as one of the most critically heralded emerging artists of his generation. After supporting girl in red on her North American and European run of shows in 2019, he released his highly anticipated debut EP, balloons don’t float here. It garnered the attention of notable tastemakers like Zane Lowe, The FADER, Hypebeast and Lyrical Lemonade, who called it “a display of pop mastery.” Hailing from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, his music melds complex sounds and atmospheric, beat-driven production to create melodic and introspective tracks with potent hooks. He makes lush, synth-driven music, which he writes, performs and produces himself.

In 2020, with his newly inked deal with RCA Records, he released his critically acclaimed EP, isaac’s insects, which garnered over 48 million streams worldwide. Billboard called it a “stunning major label debut” and led his track “makeup drawer” to be featured in NPR‘s “Best Music of 2020” list. His third EP, evil twin, was released at the top of 2021 and saw support from the likes of Earmilk, who declared it a “defiant pop record,” along with features in PAPER Magazine, SPIN, American Songwriter, E! News and more, while amassing over 38 million streams worldwide. Last fall, Dunbar hit the road on his first-ever North American headlining tour, which included a sold-out show in New York and a performance at the All Things Go Festival in Washington, DC. With new music to come in 2022, Dunbar’s future shines brighter than ever before.

LATTO × MARIAH

LISTEN TO THE “BIG ENERGY” REMIX.

Listen to Latto’s New Album 777

Raised in Atlanta, GA, 23-year-old rising rapper Latto has been making a name for herself since she was eight years old. The Rap Game Season One winner has continually released music since 2016 and signed with RCA Records in 2020. In June 2019, Latto released her EP Big Latto, which included her breakout-hit song “Bitch From Da Souf.” The December 2019 release of her follow-up project, Hit The Latto, contained the remix version of the track featuring Saweetie & Trina, the accompanying video has been viewed over 86 million times. Prior to this, her impressive catalog of music includes Miss Mulatto (2016), Latto Let ‘Em Know (2017) and Mulatto (2018).

As part of the elite new wave of female rappers, such as Megan Thee Stallion, City Girls, Saweetie and more, Latto has proven that her pen game, replete with witty and raw verses, is unmatched. Her track “Bitch From Da Souf (Remix)” featuring Saweetie and Trina went RIAA-certified Platinum, making Latto the first solo female rapper from Atlanta to accomplish this feat. She was also one of only two women inducted into the XXL 2020 Freshman Class, earning her another major milestone in her burgeoning career. In August 2020, Latto released her major label debut project Queen of Da Souf and later that year also released of the extended version of the project. It included multiple standout tracks such as “In n Out” feat. City Girls, “Sex Lies” featuring Lil Baby andthe now RIAA-certified Platinum track “Muwop” feat. Gucci Mane. In addition to her own music, Latto has been inescapable; from her cameo in Cardi B’s iconic “WAP” video featuring Megan Thee Stallion, to countless features including Chris Brown & Young Thug’s “Go Crazy (Remix)” with Future and Lil DurkChloe & Halle’s “Do It” (Remix) with Doja Cat and City GirlsNLE Choppa’s “Make Em Say” andmore, she’s proven that Big Latto is bigger and better than ever before.

Latto’s first official release of 2021, “The Biggest,” was the introduction to her new moniker that explained her reasoning for the name change, her intentions and moving forward into the next stage of her career. To start off the new chapter, Latto received her first-ever nominations for “Best New Artist” and “Best Female Hip-Hop Artist” at the 2021 BET Awards followed by performances at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on their Extended Play Stage where she gave fans a sneak peek snippet of “Big Energy” prior to its release along with performances of “Bitch From Da Souf” and “Muwop.” In addition to her VMAs performance debut, she received her first VMA nomination for “MTV Push Performance of the Year” for “Sex Lies.” She was also nominated for two 2021 Soul Train Awards and one 2022 NAACP Image Awardfor Chris Brown’s “Go Crazy (Remix)” with Young Thug, Lil Durk and Future.

Most recently, “Big Energy” has proven to be a certified smash-hit making it into the top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart (#14 currently), becoming RIAA-certified Gold, and dominating radio (cracking top 5 at Pop radio and was #1 at Urban and Rhythm). Deante’ Hitchcock – Alone

Grammy-nominated Atlanta rapper Deante’ Hitchcock released “Alone,” his new single out now via ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records. The slow cut, driven by the sensuous strum of guitar strings, finds Deante’ weighing the risks of letting his guard down for a potential love interest or whether they are both better off alone.

“We’re so busy trying to be understood we forget how to be understanding,” said Deante’. “Everybody’s trying to figure this thing out, but it’s so hard, man. On one end, it’s like I’m better off alone, so I don’t have to deal with anyone else’s shit, but it’s also like damn, I’m better off alone to not have to deal with my shit either. But I’m trying, ya know.”

The latest in a run of relationship-driven releases set to come from Deante’ this year, “Alone” follows his Valentine’s Day-themed EP Everyday The 14th in February, which received critical acclaim. Featured by XXL, Hypebeast, HipHopDX, Okayplayer, and more as one of the ‘Best New Releases of the Week,’ Lyrical Lemonade praised the project, noting that it “further solidifies Deante’ Hitchcock’s immense skill and versatility as an artist,” while The Source called the EP a “tight, solid listen for returning fans and newcomers alike.”

Last week, Deante’ also announced the launch of The Mother God Project in partnership with local Atlanta nonprofit Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs Inc. (ACE) Women’s Business Center. Powered by Deante’, The Mother God Project will provide assistance to 100 women within the community in order to successfully launch their own businesses. The selected participants will each have the opportunity to obtain their own LLCs within Atlanta, in addition to receiving one-on-one coaching and training.

About Deante’ Hitchcock

Introspective. Talented. Lyricist. These are just a few words to describe Grammy-nominated Atlanta artist Deante’ Hitchcock. After dropping out of Georgia Southern University, Deante’ decided that rap was his only option and began working harder than ever by releasing mixtapes and videos that created an undeniable buzz. His witty, charismatic social media freestyle videos generated attention, leading him to open for acts such as Lil Uzi Vert and Yo Gotti, and eventually led to a recording deal with Mark Pitts’ ByStorm Entertainment.

With several impressive EPs under his lyrical belt (Good, So Much for Good Luck, Just A Sample, Just A Sample 2), in 2019, Deante’ secured a highly coveted spot on the Grammy-nominated J. Cole and Dreamville compilation album, Revenge Of The Dreamers III, which is currently RIAA-certified Platinum. He released his debut album BETTER on ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records in 2020, featuring the single “How TF” feat. 6LACK and collaborations with JID, Young Nudy, Miguel, and St. Beauty. Following suit with the deluxe version of BETTER later that year, which featured appearances from Guapdad 4000, Kenny Mason, Ro James, and more, the project solidified Deante’ as a must-watch artist within the next wave of Southern rap, garnering critical acclaim and ‘Best of 2020’ placements across Complex, NPR, XXL, and UPROXX.

Jay Gwuapo – Bassline

21-year-old Brooklyn drill rapper Jay Gwuapo returns with track and video: “Bassline” via From Nothing Records/Polo Grounds Music/RCA Records. The visual shows Gwuapo in the tropics with friends living it up and beautiful women while the track’s hypnotic beats play.

Watch “Bassline” HERE.

Last year Jay Gwuapo was on the track, “Proud of You” with Paris Bryant, and in 2020 he released “Black Mask” ft. Pop Smoke, which is special to the rising rapper as the late Pop Smoke was one of his best childhood friends. “Intro,” “Smoke Season Freestyle” and “Dangerous” were additional tracks Gwuapo released, and together, these four tracks honored and paid tribute to Pop as well as KJ Balla. KJ Balla was a frequent collaborator, labelmate, and friend of Jay Gwuapo‘s that was tragically killed. Other recent releases include “Lost Files,” “R8” and “Back to Back” with KJ Balla,  “Long Live The Woo,” a tribute to Pop following his death, and a feature on Lil Tjay’s album with “Gettin Lit.”

Jay Gwuapo is officially back–stay tuned for more music coming soon.

About Jay Gwuapo

Brooklyn’s long been a hotbed for the latest and greatest in rap talent, and Jay Gwuapo is the borough’s next rising star in the drill scene. The East New York native is just 21 years old, having picked up rap as a career two years ago—but he’s already making moves that artists with years on him have yet to accomplish. With a series of buzz-generating street singles and a debut mixtape under his belt, Gwuapo’s talent and hybridized musical style will surely only gain more recognition to come.

Gwuapo started pursuing rap in earnest, pumping out unreleased tracks that started making noise in the NYC rap scene and eventually teaming up with Russ and KJ Balla’s From Nothing record label. “Downbad” from 2018 marked his proper debut single, featuring chilly production and Gwuapo’s now-trademarked “R&B-drill” sound. Then came the languid, melodic “Drip Sauce,” a collab with fellow Brooklynite KJ Balla.

Since then, Gwuapo’s dropped a few more choice tracks, including “Steppin’ Out” and the grim, serious “Well Explained”. Eventually, word got around to star-making label Polo Grounds Music, whose B. Jacques took particular interest in helping Gwuapo take his career and talent to the next level. “A lot of people were reaching out, but no one connected with me like my son B,” he enthuses. “The love felt different from what I felt from nobody else.”In 2019, Gwuapo announced his signing to Polo Grounds Music/RCA Records and released his debut project, From Nothing Pt. 1 which featured collaborations with label mate Calboy as well as Lil Tjay, Don Q, and KJ Balla.

SAFE on “All I Need”: This song is about the thrill of being in love with somebody, there’s nothing better than the first kiss.

Earlier this year, SAFE released the first installment of his new EP Get Home SAFE (Part 1) which features Kaash Paige on “By My Side” and Kiana Ledé on “Contagious.” The 7-track EP unlocks a unique sonic space, creating a delicate balance of contemporary R&B and hip hop. He received praise from NPR, Billboard, Teen Vogue, and Uproxx, receiving comparison to Drake and Brent Faiyaz. Listen to Get Home SAFE (Part 1) HERE.

About SAFE

In 2016, the then 18-year-old SAFE became Toronto’s secret weapon, working closely with Drake and Oliver El-Khatib. SAFE came up through the Halal Gang collective, consisting of Mustafa The Poet, Puffy L’z and Smoke Dawg. On June 30, 2018, Smoke Dawg was killed, sending the city into a state of shocked mourning. “He was the voice of the streets,” mentioned SAFE in an interview with Vice. After the tragic loss, SAFE took some time to himself and relocated to New York. Since then, the city of Toronto has been waiting to hear what’s next. In 2019, he released “Paid In Full” featuring Playboi Carti. Pitchfork reviewed the single, stating “his light and buttery melody shines over the gloomy instrumental.” Now in 2022, SAFE is looking to elevate. The impact he made in Toronto back in 2016 still remains and he is looking to spread that impact to the rest of the world.
