THE RONNIE WOOD BAND
MR LUCK – A TRIBUTE TO JIMMY REED: LIVE AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL

The Ronnie Wood Band return to the blues this month with the second instalment of his live album trilogy –‘Mr Luck – A Tribute to Jimmy Reed: Live at the Royal Albert Hall’. Released by BMG today, September 17,  2021, the 18-track album features The Ronnie Wood Band including Mick Taylor with incredible special guests, Bobby Womack, Mick Hucknall and Paul Weller and pays tribute to one of Ronnie’s musical heroes and major influences, the Mississippi electric blues pioneer Jimmy Reed.

The album is recorded live at a memorable night at the Royal Albert Hall on November 1st, 2013. It features stunning tracks including “Good Lover,” “Ghost of A Man,” and “Shame, Shame, Shame.” With unique album artwork specially created by Ronnie, Mr Luck will be available digitally, on CD, as a vinyl release, and as a beautiful limited-edition dual-tone smoky blue vinyl.

When self-taught guitarist Eddie Taylor imparted his skills onto his friend Jimmy Reed, he surely couldn’t have imagined the effect this was to have on the Chicago blues scene. Backing up such luminaries as John Lee Hooker, he is best remembered for his work with his former student.

Sweet coincidence, then, that in 1974 another Taylor, Mick, would make way for Ronnie Wood in the Rolling Stones, paving the way for these two friends and celebrated guitarists to work on projects ever since. The culmination of this to date is Taylor’s place in The Ronnie Wood Band at the Royal Albert Hall for 2013’s Bluesfest, where they played the now-legendary set that would come to birth to this recording.

Ronnie comments: “Jimmy Reed was one of the premier influences on the Rolling Stones and all the bands that love American blues from that era until the present day. It is my honor to have the opportunity to celebrate his life and legacy with this tribute.”

This album marks the second iteration in a trilogy of special and personal albums by Wood and the band, celebrating Ronnie’s musical heroes. The first album, Mad Lad explored the work of Chuck Berry as an emotional commemoration after Berry’s passing just over two years ago. Ronnie toured with Berry and was a lifelong fan.

Innovation in Wine Packaging

AVERY DENNISON, ESTAL, and LEONHARD KURZ co-launch ‘Make a Mark’ collaboration platform to accelerate innovation in wine and spirits packaging

The “innovation incubator” for global creatives will kick off with a limited edition book at Luxepack Monaco – September 27-29, 2021.

AVERY DENNISON, ESTAL and LEONHARD KURZ are launching Make a Mark, a three-year collaboration initiative for designers, printers and materials providers intended to break new ground in sustainable and innovative wine and spirits packaging, the companies announced today.

“Since wine and spirits packaging is more than just a glass bottle and stopper, we thought, why not join forces with the most respected industry leaders in labeling and finishing — Avery Dennison and Leonhard Kurz — to see how much further we can push creative innovation?” Estal CEO Gerard Albertí said of the initiative. “And what if we invited some of the world’s top packaging designers and turned this into a platform for showcasing new creative ideas while also building an inspiring design community?”

Make a Mark will kick off at Luxepack Monaco with the unveiling of a book featuring bold and provocative concepts by 18 of the world’s most creative packaging designers. Printed in a limited edition of 2,000 copies, the book is the first of several expected in a Make a Markseries, and one of many planned projects aimed at bringing together brands, designers, and materials providers over the next three years.

“We are all more innovative when we collaborate,” said Vladimir Tyulpin, Avery Dennison’s Market Segment Leader – Wine & Spirits. “And innovation is more essential than ever. The urgent need for sustainable packaging, the new ways COVID-19 is forcing us to shop, and the increasingly crowded playing fields in wine and spirits all demand bold new approaches, from the bottle shape to the label material to the design. Make a Mark was created to kick down the barriers that separate the contributors to wine and spirits packaging and give us more opportunities to collaborate and innovate.”

“With [Make a Mark’s] tremendous synergy and inspiration for those involved, we want to break boundaries and make impossible things possible”, said Stéphane Royère, Head of Business Area Packaging and Print at LEONHARD KURZ.

A focus on sustainability, luxury and innovation

Some of the most awarded packaging design studios on a worldwide basis decided to come on board and be part of the Make a Mark project — Anagrama from Mexico, Boldrini & Ficcardi from Argentina, Butterfly Cannon from United Kingdom, Chad Michael Studio from USA, Denomination from Australia, Dragon Rouge from China, JVD Estudio

from Chile, MARK Studio from South Africa, Motherland from Sweden, Pocket Rocket Creative from UK, RitaRivotti from Portugal, Ruska Martín Associates from Germany and Spain, SeriesNemo and Supperstudio from Spain, Servaire & Co amd Studio Créa’ Design from France, Smith Lumen and Spazio Di Paolo from Italy.

They were asked to develop a wine or spirit brand concept combining sustainability, luxury and innovation. They were free to bring their boldest ideas to life without the usual constraints of costs, tight deadlines, and client requirements. Access to some of the industry’s latest technologies enabled them to execute their ideas.

Among the concepts featured in the book are a wine brand that draws energy and color from Argentina’s move toward democracy in the early 1980s; a whiskey brand that pairs elegance with acknowledgement of the crises facing freshwater and oceans; an acquavite that pays homage to the volcanic origins of Sicily; and a gin inspired by the iconic 1990s TV show Baywatch, complete with a mini life preserver that gauges the level of liquid in the bottle.

A limited number of sample packets and more information about the Make a Mark book and initiative are available at www.makeamark.world

Bhad Bhabie – Miss Understood

From viral sensation to multi-platinum hip-hop phenomenon, 18-year-old Danielle Bregoli (aka Bhad Bhabie) is a true 21st century star, known worldwide for her mischievous flow, razor-sharp wordplay, and unstoppable charisma. With over a billion global streams thus far, the Florida born rapper has emerged as a landmark talent.

Today Bhad Bhabie returns to the music scene with sizzling visuals for her lead single “Miss Understood.” Directed by Tiny Tapes and Orazio and filmed in Los Angeles the high energy video will be featured on her forthcoming EP.

Amidst an aesthetic of neon lights, blurry screens, paparazzi and dollar bills, the video’s opening finds the rapper donning a dominatrix like outfit and welcoming fans into her world to share a story about love, haters and decadence. She says, “the video for Miss Understood has some fire sexy looks and a real intimate feel. It’s definitely a new kind of video for me.”

Co-written by London Jae (Beyonce, Rihanna, Cardi B) and produced by Go Grizzly (Future, Nicki Minaj, Kehlani) the song’s hook “They say I’m trouble, but maybe I’m just misunderstood…” seems apropos for the star who sometimes finds herself in hot water for being so outspoken. This time Bhad Bhabie has channeled all her passionate energy into creating a new more mature sound while continuing to carve out her own niche in the hip hop world. “I’ve definitely evolved with my sound. My new music is less gimmicky, I feel like a lot of my old music was kinda childish. I was young, I was 14 and 15. Now I’m 18 and I’m definitely going to show that I’m more mature with my content and delivery.”

With her increasing catalogue of chart-busting hits, social media triumphs, and seemingly non-stop artistic growth, Bhad Bhabie is unquestionably one of today’s most successful new superstars. She has catapulted herself from a meme to a globally recognized influencer and artist boasting over 1.5 billion global streams. She seamlessly moves between worlds of social justice and sexy, with a massive OnlyFans account and she also made headlines this year speaking out against Turn About Ranch and the “troubled teen industry.”

Having previously collaborated with heavyweights Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Yachty, City Girls and Lil Baby and more. With this new project she hopes with this project her listeners can finally get a feel for who she is as a woman, artist and human being. Whether she’s talking about relationships, finances, breakups or the glow up, Bhad Bhabie is letting her ingenuity manifest itself. It’s the way she speaks, dresses and creates.

L’FREAQ showcases her raw talent

Today, LA-based dark-synth pop artist, L’FREAQ, shares a live and unplugged version of her newest single, LOUD,” from her sophomore EP, Showgirl, due out on September 23, 2021 via Position Music. The intimate performance on plush red couches and a heart-shaped bed shows L’FREAQ’s literal comfort with vulnerability and also with her own power. Without a mic, and accompanied only by an acoustic guitar player, the glittering bones of this powerhouse song are brought to light.

L’FREAQ recently shared the official video for “LOUD.” In a music world (and the whole world) where women have consistently been silenced, taken as a joke, out-shadowed and pushed around, this song reminds anyone who’s ever been shut up not to shut down. In fact, L’FREAQ recommends getting loud. As the ferocious beat slaps, the fiercely free lyrics gain momentum: “You ask me why can’t you sit down and shut up and wait your turn / I want it now so I guess you could say I never learn” and “I’m gonna be loud / I’m gonna break out / So watch my mouth / I’m gonna be loud / I’m gonna break the mold.”

On the new track, L’FREAQ says, “I made LOUD as my war paint song. I’ve had so many experiences in the music industry of men trying to take advantage of me, specifically one man who led me down a dark alley when I was 16 and made fun of me when I said I didn’t trust him. I went into the studio with my cowriter, Chris Ayer, and we played badass movie scenes on mute of women standing in their power, letting their kick ass personas inspire us. I wanted to make a song that could perfectly narrate those movie scenes, so LOUD was born. This is the song I would play for the 16-year-old version of me, helping her realize that she doesn’t need a man to get ahead, and she’s free to take on the world.

The official video, shot in an alley and harkening back to that moment, reclaims autonomy and energy with hair flips, rhinestone gloves and bold fashion. On the video, she adds, “I filmed this video in 110-degree heat in my hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. Bless my videographer, Josue Orozco, for always being game to do crazy things like this with me. The unique clothing is from my friend Robert who owns one of the coolest vintage clothing stores in the country, Fashion by Robert Black. I wanted the video to be messy and fun and LOUD, and I edited it myself to create the perfect atmosphere.”

L’FREAQ’s previous single and battle cry title track, Showgirl,” is also out now. She also recently shared a lyric video of the single. The word empowered stands boldly in front of the red curtain in the lyric video, and in the new live and unplugged version L’FREAQ’s voice alone is full of potent, passionate energy. Her raw performance, only accompanied by an acoustic guitar, proves every lyric’s realness in every note.

Furthering the story from the debut single and music video for “Gimmick,” it’s clear that the upcoming EP is absolutely stacked with metaphor, all-star fashion, witchy babe vibes and an important message about the role media plays with children especially young women. L’FREAQ is turning trauma into triumph, tapping into her heart and getting out of her head.

From puppet to powerhouse (just like in The “Gimmick” video), L’FREAQ breaks free of the monotony and shreds through the brainwashed stereotypes, as she literally shreds on a guitar. “Gimmick” showed L’FREAQ embodying themes of resilience in a time of self-doubt, combining heart-pounding beats with passionate lyrics about believing in the power that everyone inherently owns and nobody else can take away. It also emphasizes L’FREAQ’s expansive “robust range (Refinery29),” which is also on full display in her recent live and unplugged version of “Gimmick.” This new track follows in those footsteps and takes it further into a deeper love of music, family and personal freedom.

Having recently performed for Backline’s “Set Break” live stream alongside Alanis Morissette, Tom Morello, Ben Folds, Sara Bareilles and more to raise funds and awareness for mental health services to be distributed to music industry for free, L’FREAQ has been a champion for her community. This song is another chapter of that consistent commitment to rise up and bring people with her.

L’FREAQ, continues to remain an open book of emotions for fans as she lays out her own experience with rejection and struggles with mental health. L’FREAQ belts, “Got the courage to be vulnerable, got the guts to wear the crown, cause I dare to bare it all, I refuse to water down,” as a testament of truthfulness and self-confidence even when it’s hard. Intimacy on this level allows L’FREAQ to push the storyline forward when it comes to believing in dreams as a reality, especially in the face of adversity. Nylon Look at L’FREAQ, draped in jewels and Cleopatra-esque eye makeup; then look a little harder. Behind the artifice, integrity abounds.”

L’FREAQ is all about being inclusive, and she is outspoken when it comes to defending the underdog. As an ally of everyone on the spectrum of gender and sexuality, bullies, racists and sexists are not allowed in L’FREAQ’s kingdom. She also shows her love for those closest to her, by highlighting their work: namely her fashion photographer mom, Kelly Cappelli (as seen Vogue), who does all the photography.

The new release follows L’FREAQ’s debut Weird Awakenings, which played with themes of self-discovery, as well as her 2021 single “Make Me Move.” Armed with a full book of poetry, L’FREAQ took pieces of her work and composed songs with Mike Irish, who also produced and mixed the EP at Shifted Recording Studios. The EP was mastered by Stuart Hawkes at Metropolis London Music. They took their time in discovering a sound that felt genuine, one that explored all the raw places she had been longing to find.Together, they created a modern amalgamation thoughtful poetry and her raw musical instincts ;which inevitably alchemized ;into songs that are all at once aggressive, sensual and moving.

Having shared a stage with ABBA, India.Arie and Jakob Dylan, it’s important to note her live performance prowess, even without tour dates on the books (speaking of longing). L’FREAQ played a packed NYC performance debut at SoHo House, and channeled Britney Spears (especially during her ferocious “Toxic” cover”), Nick Cave and Beats Antique vibes. The Deli Magazine;later dubbed her Éc;NYC’s Favorite Emerging Artist.Éd; She’s also currently playing Amy Winehouse in Las Vegas show “27”, and has been featured on the news several times for her iconic portrayal of Winehouse, who inspired her to sing in the first place, leaving audiences moved to tears from the experience.

In addition to the release of her new music, Tems is set to ignite the stage on her first U.S. headlining shows coming up the next few weeks in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago along with a set at Afropunk ATL.

RCA Chairman & CEO, Peter Edge and Co President of Since ’93, Glyn Aikins along with Tems offer the following about her signing.

RCA Chairman & CEO, Peter Edge: “We’re excited to welcome the immensely talented Tems to the RCA fold and embark on this new chapter with her alongside Since ’93. She’s an incredible artist whose unique style and vocal abilities have no bounds. There’s no doubt she’ll accomplish great things and we can’t wait to see Tems flourish.”

Co President of Since ’93, Glyn Aikins: “We are thrilled and excited to be working with Tems! A once in a generation artist whose originality and style is second to none. This unique partnership between Since 93 and RCA in the US to support Tems is a clear testament to our joint commitment to amplifying Tems’ message far and wide.”

Tems: “I am excited for everything the future holds. My team and I have been working really hard over the years, now we’re in a new season and on a higher level and things can only get better as we reach more people all over the world. I’m looking forward to this new partnership with RCA/Since ‘93 and working with their talented teams as we enter this next chapter.”

Apple Music 1 host Nadeska Alexis speaks on their Apple Music Up Next artist Tems’ career and artistry.

Apple Music 1 Host, Nadeska: “Tems once told me that ‘being yourself actually takes more courage than people would imagine.’ In her career that has meant ignoring opinions and pressure to compromise her music, while constantly defying expectations. Her debut EP was raw and addictive, leaving fans hungry for her next release. And no matter how her songwriting evolves, her unique and captivating vocal tone will bring her the spotlight on any original or feature record she touches.”

Tems has been having a standout year since releasing her last EP For Broken Ears. She’s a singer/songwriter/self-taught producer that writes, arranges and produces her music with a genre-blending sound that fuses R&B with soul, reggae and more in her own unique way. Recently, Tems was featured on the standout track “Fountains” on Drake’s latest album Certified Lover Boy and is featured on “the song of the summer” “Essence” with Afrobeats star Wizkid, which recently released a version featuring Justin Bieber. The original version just hit #1 at Urban Radio and #1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart this week. She’s also worked with various artists such as Khalid, Disclosure, Davido and more. Beyond music, Tems is a gifted clothing designer who has created some of the outfits she will be wearing on her forthcoming U.S. tour.

This is just the beginning for Tems and there’s more on the way soon.

YouTube Originals – Laudato Si

YouTube Originals has ordered “Laudato Si’,” a feature-length documentary from the BAFTA and OSCAR®-winning production company Off The Fence, (My Octopus Teacher) produced in partnership with the Laudato Si’ Movement and in collaboration with the Vatican. Set to debut on YouTube in early 2022, “Laudato Si’ is based on Pope Francis’s second encyclical and provides an urgent call to action on protecting our planet and each other.

“Sustainability and climate action are key areas of focus for our YouTube Originals programming,” said Nadine Zylstra Head of Family, Learning and Impact for YouTube Originals, “Off the Fence’s expertise in this space makes them the perfect fit to bring Pope Francis’ critical message to our global audience.”

“We are thrilled to be partnering with YouTube on this incredible project. Their reach will ensure everybody has access to the film and their creativity in content and form means a whole generation will be engaged with Laudato Si’’s important message,” said Leila Monks, Off the Fence’s Head of Commissioning.

The documentary offers a breathtaking wake-up call and a humbling reminder of our responsibility as a society to come together in solidarity for the preservation of our planet. Following the personal stories of several characters deeply connected to the climate crisis, “Laudato Si’” calls on communities and individuals to lead change on the local, national, and international levels.

Currently in production, “Laudato Si’” is written and directed by Nicolas Brown, produced by Sam Barton-Humphreys and Off The Fence Co-CEO Ellen Windemuth, and executive produced by Off The Fence Co-CEO Bo Stehmeier and Tomás Insua. Susanne Daniels is Global Head of Original Content for YouTube. Nadine Zylstra, Head of Family, Learning and Impact for YouTube Originals and Lauren Vrazilek and Amina Wilson on the Learning and Impact development team oversee “Laudato Si’” for YouTube Originals.

“Laudato Si’’” producer and Co-CEO of Off The Fence Ellen Windemuth also added, “This film is the place where people of many faiths convene with scientists to embrace Pope Francis’s vision for the future of our planet. Our film will adapt this important message into a beautiful character-driven story, shot all over the world.”

“Laudato Si’” is the latest addition to the YouTube Originals slate of sustainability programming which includes previously announced series: “Seat at the Table,” which sends creator Jack Harries on a global challenge to give people around the world a seat at the table in the climate conversation ahead of the UN’s Climate Change Conference (COP 26), “Brave Mission: Rewild the Planet” (previously titled “Stay Wild”) where Brave Wilderness will transport viewers directly to the front lines of nature where the effects of climate change can be witnessed first-hand by their impact on wildlife and humanity, and “Shut It Off ASAP,” where YouTube creators AsapSCIENCE leave their comfort zone in the city and head to a remote farm in the country to try their hand at going green, regenerative farming, and building a sustainable lifestyle.
