Björgvin Arnarson chats up Chucky with Vaughn Lowery in 360 MAGAZINE exclusive.

BJÖRGVIN ARNARSON – CHUCKY

Listen to Björgvin Arnarson and Vaughn Lowery chat all things CHUCKY on 360 MAG Apple/Spotify podcast HERE.

Björgvin Arnarson plays ‘Devon’ on the hit TV series, CHUCKY.

Björgvin is an up-and-coming American television actor with a fraternal twin brother. In 2019, this biracial (Icelandic father and Floridian mother) boy wonder made his acting debut as a guest star on Family Time. When asked about his early acting experiences, Arnarson said, “I always liked performing. I used to do community theater back then, I also made short films with my brother… Then my mom asked, ‘Why don’t you start auditioning?’ I replied, ‘Sure!’… I did one commercial, a low-budget film, some horror movies, and a book trailer. I booked some small things and then booked CHUCKY.”

Subsequently, Arnarson broke into film with a supporting role in horror, starring Vadhir Derbez and Guy Pearce, The Seventh Day. Additionally, he solidified a bit part in Hulu’s hit comedy series, PEN15, earning numerous credits in a short span. When questioned about daily set life, he asserts, “I never know what scene we’re shooting until the day of, so I have to be prepared to be super dramatic or super not dramatic.” He further elaborates, “Shooting out of order is interesting to me …like we’re shooting episode 3 but it’s only the end scene, and we’ll shoot the beginning later.”

Björgvin portrays Devon Evans in the TV version of the cult classic, CHUCKY, premiering October 5. “I was on my computer playing games, my dad told me that I booked it. I was like ‘Oh Dang Okay!’” Arnarson recalled the day he got the role. “The first thing I did was watch all of the Chucky movies.”

Born into a family that is both artistic and supportive, it is not surprising that Björgvin Arnarson is an eclectic actor with enormous dedication. Arnarson mentioned that he has a twin brother who is a talented musician and ballet dancer, “We’re fraternal, not identical, but he is three minutes older, he always says that, but whatever.” When they were babies, his mother danced and sang for them, and they soon found out that his father was once in a band and performed in the theater.

While this tailspin continues to earn honors, Arnarson enjoys reading comics, playing the piano and being an active company in the local artistic scene. “I like photography, digital art… putting things together into one big piece… filmmaking, mixed media, Manga… and I’m a big music guy,” Arnarson said.

DEVON EVANS is a boy-next-door and true crime addict who runs a podcast called “Hackenslash,” which sheds light on local crime in his hometown of Hackensack. Evans is hell-bent on making sense of the mysterious Hackensack tragedies, not only from the past but also from the present. Devon is a student at Perry Middle School and is dating “Jack Wheeler” (Zachary Arthur).

CHUCKY is a continuation of the emblematic cinema franchise that retraces the murderous events of the famous killer doll. In the television series, Chucky encounters former allies, sworn enemies and new prey, as he tries to inspire fear, nervousness and chaos wherever he goes.

After his horrible plot to invade America’s children’s hospitals was thwarted in the first season, Chucky now seeks revenge on those he blames, surviving teens Jake (Zackary Arthur), Devon (Björgvin Arnarson) and Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), along with his ex-Tiffany ( his sworn enemy).

The series averaged 11.6 million viewers in season 1. Season 2 will premiere on October 5 (trailer) on SYFY and USA Networks.

ADDITIONAL BJÖRGVIN QUOTES:

“In season one, I was pretty nervous,” Arnarson confessed, “but going into season two, it feels more like second nature, I can focus more and get into the character.”

Director Karam Gill and Lil Baby discuss film Untrapped at Tribeca Film Festival via 360 Magazine

LIL BABY’S UNTRAPPED

Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby” is the chronological narrative of Dominique Armani Jones, a black horse’s right of passage. Re-invents the American dream for the next generation, operate outside the rule of the general public. Lately, director Karam Gill has been christened by Forbes’ 30 Under 30 and indexed by Variety’s 10 Top Documentary Filmmakers to Watch. He has created a psychological yet visual anthology of the socioeconomic fate of a young black man in America. Recalling the days when Jay-Z moved dope in Marcy, this tale hits a hard chord with the less fortunate – making ends meet with whatever means necessary.

In 2016 the prosperous Quality Control Music imprint catapulted City Girls into the realm of Salt-N-Pepa and the Migos into a stratospheric N.W.A-ish enclave. With their managerial mastery, they signed Cardi B and enlisted him into their brigade. Shortly thereafter, Lil Baby burst into hip-hop celebrity after releasing My Dawg, peaking at 71 on Billboard Hot 100. Widely respected by peers in Atlanta’s West End, the film re-confirmed Lil Baby as one of the most influential in his set.

In short, this tabulated transmission, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, portrays a successful drug dealer who has become an endearing father that amassed immeasurable success. Further, 2020 was his breakthrough to become a global star. Lil Baby was the first and only recording artist to achieve double platinum status and tied Prince as well as Paul McCartney for Billboard Hot 100 hits.

Gloomily, the film did not fully explain his rap culture and his flair for fashion, thus taking away the viewer’s affinity for the protagonist of nonfiction. Looks like a series on the verge of whistling out of the kettle.

Lastly, the ceremony ended with a public Q&A and a special performance by Lil Baby.

The Silent Sea – Netflix

By: Kai Yeo

Korean dramas have been popular, but it seems like they are even more on the rise in 2021. Ahem, Squid Game. K-dramas are known for their high production value, character arcs and engrossing storylines. While most of them are only 16-20 episodes, quality acting allows the audience to build a connection and become emotionally invested.

Looking for something to binge over the holidays? Part of the Top 10 trending shows on Netflix is a K-drama titled The Silent Sea. A Netflix original, sci-fi series that has been catching global attention, and is already at a 70% score less than a week after release. On top of positive reviews, the fascinating plot has been all the buzz on film socials. Before you start this series, you probably want to know the gist of what it is about – we got you covered.

The Silent Sea

The Silent Sea narrates the story of an earth that has been ravaged by drought, and a large crew must travel to an abandoned base on the moon to retrieve a sample. This sample supposedly contains what will save the world… but we are not quite sure what it is yet. Watch the trailer here.

The Synopsis via Netflix:

“During a perilous 24-hour mission on the moon, space explorers try to retrieve samples from an abandoned research facility steeped in classified secrets.”

Will they ever return to Earth? What lies ahead on their mission? So many questions and no answers, you’ll just have to tune in to find out. What we do know, though, is the stellar cast in this new release. Starting with the instantly recognizable leads: Train to Busan’s Gong Yoo and Sense8’s Bae Doona, acting as the caption of the mission and lead scientist respectively.

If you’ve been keeping up with the Korean film industry, most of these other actors might also be familiar to you:

With such a big crew, many unprecedented things happen, but The Silent Sea provides a lot of mystery and interesting plot twists by the end. While saying anything more would include spoilers, it was certainly a wild ride. A refined production that will be high on our sci-fi list for a little bit.

Bella Thorne – Girl

By Hannah DiPilato

Last week, Girl starring Bella Thorne was released to select theaters and VOD platforms. The psycho-thriller movie has gained mixed reviews so far with a 4.8 out of 10 on IMDb and a 63% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film was directed and written by Chad Faust and stars Faust, along with Thorne and Mickey Rourke. Thorne stars the main character known as Girl, who returns to her hometown for the first time since she was kicked out of her house by her father at age six. She comes prepared with a plan to get revenge on her abusive father. Upon arrival, she discovers that someone has reached him first and finds him dead.

Determined to find out what happened to her father and fueled by rage, Girl ignores the advice of her mother to get out of the small town. Instead, she makes it her responsibility to find out who was responsible for the murder of her dad. Armed with her father’s old hatchet throughout the movie, Girl sets out for revenge and answers and it seems nothing will stop her from getting them.

She comes into contact with a lot of interesting characters along her journey through the small, rural town. She meets a friendly bartender, played by Glen Gould, a kind prostitute, played by Lanette Ware, and Faust’s character, a mysterious charmer. Rourke plays the local sheriff, who seems suspicious from the start.

As the story progresses, we learn the sheriff and the charmer are working together to find a large sum of money that Girl’s father supposedly hid. With the suspension that Girl now possess the money, it’s clear why she becomes the target. The storyline goes into a whirlwind of family secrets and drama that Girl discovers throughout her investigative journey. The movie plays on themes of poverty, abuse and trauma.

The movie is reminiscent of the 2005 film House of Wax and also has similarities to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror series. Thorne does an impeccable job portraying the character of Girl and used a realistic southern accent to add to Girl’s persona. Thorne isn’t one to shy away from big roles and Girl is the actress’s fourth appearance in a feature film for 2020.

The film is available on Apple TV, YouTube, Google Play and Amazon Prime Video for $6.99. The thriller is an hour and thirty-two minutes of plot twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

Thorne is continuously making a name for herself in Hollywood. Her first Hollywood appearances took place on ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money and NBC’s My Own Worst Enemy. She then took on a lead role in 2010 as Cece in the Disney Channel show Shake It Up. Thorne is continuing her career and has been featured in many new TV shows and movies after her success as Cece. In 2018 she starred alongside Patrick Schwarzenegger in Midnight Sun, a moving teen romance movie. She has also taken on roles in The Babysitter, Blended and The Duff.
