LUIS VAZQUEZ — “TU FAN”

Luis Vazquez, Salsa music newest sensation, peaks #1 on Billboard Tropical Airplay chart

The newest tropical music sensation, Luis Vazquez, celebrates the big success of his first single “Tu fan,” after receiving one of the biggest and most exciting news of his life: his song peaked #1 on Billboard magazine.

This dream becomes a reality thanks to the great success that his first promotional single “Tu fan” has obtained on all digital platforms, showing that the tropical genre is still on trend, and this young Puerto Rican has come to refresh the image of the most iconic music genre for Latinos around the world: La Salsa.

“Tu fan” debuted on the Tropical Airplay chart of Billboard magazine, staying for more than six consecutive weeks in the top 10. Today, the singer woke up to a dream come true, seeing his name in the # 1 position on the same list for the first time, which for so many years has been headed by his greatest idols.

Luis Vazquez, a Jak Entertainment artist, put his emotions into words: “This is a true dream come true, which would not have been possible without the support of salsa fans—I am infinitely grateful to them and to the Jak Entertainment team, who guide me on this path every day. Thank you, and let me tell you something: this is just the beginning.”

The single “Tu fan” belongs to Luis Vazquez’s first studio album “Comienzos,” which is available through all digital platforms, and includes his hits “Me tienes mal,” “Para siempre” and “Comienzos.” You can listen to the album HERE.

Jessia x I Should Quit

Rising Canadian pop star and songwriter Jessia released the official video for her new single, I Should Quit.

Directed by Nina Kramer, the carefree video highlights Jessia’s struggle to accept her friends’ advice to stop making impulsive bad choices, while knowing that she should quit but in reality admits she has no intention of doing so. On the track, Jessia says “I’m really good at giving advice but not always good at taking it. I know what I SHOULD do but what’s the fun in always playing it safe? Sometimes you just need to fully accept that you are a hot mess.”

Recently, Jessia was featured as Billboard Magazine’s Chartbreaker for the month of June. Her CRIA Gold-certified body acceptance anthem I’m not Pretty is currently Top 5 at Hot AC radio in Canada and features GRAMMY® Award-nominated artist Bebe Rexha on the official remix version of the track released last month. “I’m not Pretty” recently crossed 100 million+ streams and this week tops the Billboard Canada Emerging Artists Chart for the SEVENTH consecutive week at #1.

I’m Not Pretty initially exploded on Tik Tok when Jessia introduced the a cappella hook of the song by sharing, “I don’t know if this is total trash, or if it’s actually a bop.” Turns out it was the latter, as the clip racked up 1 million views in a day. The candid lyrics describe a journey towards self-love and the emotions one can feel while on its path – a message that has instantly resonated with audiences all over the world.

In addition to early support from international tastemakers, Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer Ryan Tedder personally reached out to Jessia upon hearing the song to champion her work and collaborate. Together they are putting the finishing touches on more new music—due out soon.

JOSHUA BASSETT

JOSHUA BASSETT RELEASES SELF-TITLED DEBUT EP AND MUSIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “TELLING MYSELF” – WATCH HERE

NOMINATED AND PRESENTING AT THE NICKELODEON KIDS’ CHOICE AWARDS

PERFORMING ON THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW ON MARCH 24TH

ANNOUNCES “A NIGHT WITH JOSHUA BASSETT: A ONE NIGHT ONLY VIRTUAL CONCERT EXPERIENCE” ON APRIL 16TH

After building feverish anticipation and emerging as one of 2021’s most exciting artists to watch, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and actor Joshua Bassett releases his anxiously awaited self-titled debut EP on Warner Records—available HERE.   To celebrate the release, he just shared the music video for new single “Telling Myself ” – watch it HERE.

In addition to releasing the EP this week, Joshua will make an appearance at the 2021 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards tomorrow, March 13th, where he is nominated for Favorite Male TV Star.  Joshua will also perform a song from his EP on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on March 24th.  Furthermore, Joshua will treat fans to his first ever virtual show, “A Night With Joshua Bassett: A One Night Only Virtual Concert Experience,” on April 16th at 9:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM PT. Performing his songs for the first time with a band, Joshua will showcase his multi-instrumentalist and songwriting prowess. Tickets are on sale now at joshuabassettmerch.com

About the EP, Joshua said, “My debut EP is a rollercoaster of stories and emotions. It was written over the span of two years, so every song represents a different chapter of my life recently. It’s all about the messiness of relationships, the back and forth of falling into and falling out of love, and how those stories somehow come together into a cohesive chaos.”

The EP opens on the dreamy piano of “Sorry” as twinkling keys give way to his show-stopping delivery. Bass-y piano shuffles underneath the chantable hook, “She said, ‘You’ll be sorry when you left me, cause I’m the best thing that you aren’t ever gonna get again’.” Elsewhere, delicate fingerpicking carries the tender ballad “Do It All Again.” It culminates on the gorgeous “Heaven Is You” where he ignites one last uplifting refrain.

Joshua paved the way for the EP with “Lie Lie Lie” and “Only A Matter of Time” which received wide acclaim and established him as a breakthrough star. Teen Vogue raved, “‘Lie Lie Lie’ has a 2000s boy band feel in the best way – fun, acoustic, guitar-driven pop,” Elite Daily dubbed it “a total #mood,” and Billboard praised his “pop-rock talent, and ability not to mince words in his music.” The New York Times touted it on “The Playlist,” and Pop Sugar captured the excitement best with the admission, “I can’t wait to hear what other pop hits he has in store for his upcoming EP.”

Taking a moment to give back in a big way, Joshua recently pledged 100% of the proceeds from his merch store to the charity of the buyer’s choosing. Fans who pick up merchandise may pick one of five charities for their money to go to, all of which focus on youth-led movements or organizations led by next generation leaders, including A Long Walk Home, Jack, Teen Line, The Sunrise Movement, and The Young Feminist.  Joshua is also donating 100% of the proceeds of sales of his “Franklin” Build-A-Bear furry friend available at his online merch store to CASA of Los Angeles (CASA/LA). CASA mobilizes community volunteers to advocate for children and youth who have experienced abuse and neglect.  You can learn more about CASA/LA at casala.org.

Joshua Bassett may sing, write, act, and play multiple instruments, but he humbly identifies himself as “just a kid from San Diego who loves music.” Long before starring in the Disney+ original series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, generating millions of streams, and garnering widespread acclaim, he grew up surrounded by music in the suburb of Oceanside, CA. Described by many as an “old soul,” he played drums in church, taught himself ukulele, guitar, and piano, and wrote his first song for his homecoming date at 15. In addition to being homeschooled alongside his five sisters, he was able to strengthen his voice as a singer and actor in local theater productions. After various television parts on Dirty John, Grey’s Anatomy and more, he landed the lead role of Ricky in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series which premiered in November 2019. Simultaneously, he feverishly wrote music. Inking a deal with Warner Records, he unveiled his solo debut “Common Sense” and follow-up “Anyone Else” in 2020, laying the foundation for his debut EP out now.

Tiwa Savage – “Dangerous Love”

Nigerian-born singer, songwriter, and fashion icon TIWA SAVAGE – widely regarded as the ‘Queen of Afrobeats’ – releases her brand new single, “Dangerous Love,” via Motown Records. The song is the first official single taken from her long-awaited fourth studio album ‘CELIA’, aptly named after her mother. Listen to “Dangerous Love” HERE.

Produced by Cracker Mallo and recorded in Tiwa’s home city of Lagos, Nigeria, “Dangerous Love” is the perfect blend of R&B and Afrobeats. With a powerful, enchanting chorus and silky ‘afro’ beat throughout, the mid-tempo record is a representation of Tiwa’s musical growth and preview to her upcoming project.

“Dangerous Love is such a vibe! It’s a song that is basically about a girl who is dipping in and out of a ‘relationship’ with a guy that really doesn’t deserve her time or attention. She knows that he is bad for her but she gambling with her heart anyway,” says Tiwa Savage. “I feel like every girl and maybe guys too can relate to this one.”

Savage’s fearlessness in combining various genres has paid off, earning her abundance of award wins and recognitions. In 2018 she made history by becoming the first female to win the MTV European Award for ‘Best African Act’. She has since earned four Channel O Music Video Awards nominations, five World Music Award nominations, MTV Africa Music, BET & MOBO Award nominations and many more.

In 2019 she signed an exclusive recording contract with Universal Records and in September released her first global single titled ’49-99’ under Motown Records. In May, 2020, Tiwa Savage graced the cover of Billboard Magazine’s first issue devoted entirely to Africa alongside Afrobeat superstars Davido and Mr Eazi.

Tiwa was born in Lagos, Nigeria, where she lived until the age of 11 when her parents decided to move to London. In her early days, like most families, she would attend church with her parents and soon developed a love for performing and relocated to London. At the age of 16, Tiwa found herself singing backing vocals for George Michael. As a result of that session, Tiwa quickly found further work over the years with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Emma Bunton and Blu Cantrell.

Despite having already completed a degree in Business Administration at the University of Kent, she was focused to continue pursuing music and received a scholarship at the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. With her newfound strength to push forward with music, Tiwa moved from London to New York City and began taking meetings with various producers and industry professionals. Inspired and stimulated by the lack of true female superstars in her home country, she moved back to Nigeria.

Savage has also been active in her philanthropic endeavors, supporting various youth engagement organizations and breast cancer screening projects across Nigeria and further afield. Tiwa also is very active in #JusticeForUwa, loudly voicing her disgust at the rape of a young girl in a church in Nigeria, and creating an Instagram page @WeAreTiredNg where rape victims can speak out.

City Girls, rap, hip-hop, 360 MAGAZINE, Capitol Music Group, duo, Billboard Magazine

CITY GIRLS × BILLBOARD

City Girls have done things few female hip-hop duos or groups have managed, and as their momentum continues to rise Billboard magazine chose to recognize them as the face of what’s to break in 2020 as they continue their trail-blazing winning streak and reach new heights.

The duo, comprised of JT and Yung Miami, has become one of the most successful female hip-hop duos in the history of the Billboard charts. Racking up more than 1.3 BILLION streams, a pair of certified-Platinum Top 40 hits, becoming the #6 most played artist on urban radio (with singles “Twerk” and “Act Up” reaching #1 at Urban Radio), and raves from critics world-wide. City Girls will continue to dominate in 2020. They recently released “You Tried It” off their highly anticipated album which is coming soon.

Ratchet, brilliant, and sometimes both at the same time and sometimes neither at all, these women are showing up and doing the work, wrote The New Yorker. The ascent of the City Girls is one of the most unlikely success stories of the past years, with JT sitting in federal prison in Tallahassee, Fl, turning herself in for fraud in July 2018, the same day Drake’s massive #1 smash “In My Feelings featuring the City Girls was released. Yung Miami held down the group: touring, performing festivals, the BET Awards mainstage and MTV Spring Break, Alexander Wang’s fashion week party, doing interviews and accepting awards as City Girls – and always with a shout-out to her best friend with a heartfelt “Free JT!”

These City Girls would not be derailed nor defeated. With the brash, raw, uncensored swagger rooted in the queens who came before them, the duo released music and videos they had banked knowing JT was turning herself in and kept rising and rising up the charts. The accolades and nominations piled up: 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards Nominations for “Best Hip Hop Video” + Single Of The Year”; 2019 BET Awards Nominations for “Best Group” + “Best New Artist”; BET Social Awards Nomination and Won “Issa Wave” Award; Nominated for Billboard Awards’ Best New Artist.

In September Yung Miami happily announced her pregnancy, showing the world what a working woman was capable of. In October, JT was freed, and the internet exploded, with City Girls holding eight of the top 25 trending topics on twitter – not just trending but trending under eight different topics! (#2 JT FREE; #6 JT HOME; #11 JT IS FREE; #15 JT IS HOME; #16 Caresha; #19 Yung Miami; #20 JT OUT; #23 SO JT). Never ones to rest, City Girls returned that same day with the hard-hitting “JT First Day Out;” The City Girls’ rapper takes aim at her opposition and makes sure they know City Girls are here to dominate hip-hop with the legal mess finally behind her. “Left prison with a pimple, not a scratch,” she raps.

JT and Yung Miami are uncensored and unapologetic sharing a commitment to their hood roots and a bold insistence that the culture they come from shouldn’t stop them from getting a piece of the cash pie. One of the most provocative female hip-hop duos in years, JT and Yung Miami are trailblazers of the next generation of female who speak out as raw and confident — and with as much swagger as the boys and working twice as hard to be recognized.

Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas of the renowned Quality Control Music label discovered the girls and took their first song “Fu*k Dat N****” from a regional hit to a national smash when it appeared on the seminal Quality Control Presents: Control The Streets Vol 1 compilation.

Not only did he lend his voice to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Almost Like Praying” benefit single, but he also began architecting a sharp and soulful signature take on contemporary music. He teamed up with producer Will Wells [Logic, Pentatonix] for The Freedom EP, which garnered acclaim from Billboard and many others.

Ramos recently wrapped the lead in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s highly-anticipated ‘In the Heights’ movie directed by Jon M. Chu for Warner Bros to be released in June 2020.

Most recently, he appeared in the Academy Award-winning film A Star Is Born, directed by Bradley Cooper and starring Lady Gaga where he played ‘Ally’s’ (GaGa) best friend and the critically-acclaimed Netflix series She’s Gotta Have Itcreated by Spike Lee, based on his 1986 film.

This summer, Ramos made his Republic Records debut with the release of “Dear Diary.” A heartening confessional, “Dear Diary” sets the tone and marks the introduction to his forthcoming full-length album “The Good & The Bad.”
