Khalid and PNAU release The Hard Way via 360 MAGAZINE.

PNAU × KHALID

Collaborations don’t come much bigger than PNAU and Khalid’s heavyweight meet-up for their brand new single“The Hard Way.” The two artists share a combined total of over 70 million monthly listeners at Spotify, with a host of international #1 smashes to their credit, with their biggest moments including PNAU’s unmissable Elton John /Dua Lipa collab “Cold Heart” and Khalid’s “lovely” alongside Billie Eilish.

“The Hard Way” out via Sony Music Germany/RCA Records, instantly lives up to its billing. It’s a big scale contemporary pop at its finest, with PNAU’s sublime synthpop providing the towering melodies and a supremely confident hook that allows Khalid’s starry vocal majesty to shine. The two artists really lean into each other’s vibe to establish a depth of feeling, with Khalid’s lovelorn lyricism and sentimental emotions complemented by PNAU’s ability to evoke nostalgic ‘80s sonic elements within a modernistic production.

PNAU’s Nick Littlemore says, “We are so very excited to share this with you. Working with Khalid has been an absolute dream, we hope this song shall live in your hearts like it does ours. Big love, PNAU.“

Khalid adds, “It’s just awesome, it’s feel-good but then the lyrics have that melancholy, bittersweet thing about them. It’s that juxtaposition, that the lyrics are heartbreakingly sad but if you listen to the song you can’t help but smile. Those are my favourite songs, the ones that contradict. Just waiting for the world to hear it, they’re going to attach to it and just love it.”

PNAU are Australia’s biggest streaming exports, a multi-Platinum ARIA award-winning electronica trio with Nick Littlemore joined byPeter Mayes andSam Littlemore. Their career is rooted within Australia’s underground dance scene, but they possess a midas touch for a crossover dance hit which saw them achieve huge domestic success with “Go Bang” and “Chameleon” before delivering a global smash with “Cold Heart. Now approaching 2 billionstreams, “Cold Heart” fired to #1 in the UK and saw PNAU reach the US Top 10 for the first time, resulting in award nominations at the BRITs, the Ivor Novellos, the Billboard Music Awards and the American Music AwardsPNAU have also remixed and/or collaborated with Diana Ross, Tame Impala and Lizzo, most recently teaming up with fellow Aussie superstar Troye Sivan for“You Know What I Need, while simultaneously nurturing a new era of talent with their own record label, Lab 78.

Khalid is a multi-Platinum global superstar who has been heralded in the TIME100 list of The Most Influential People and as a “pop prodigy” by Rolling Stone. He has taken the world by storm since releasing his debut single “Location” while still a teenager, leading to two global hit albums in the shape of “American Teen” and the critically acclaimed Billboard #1 Free Spirit. He has collaborated with some of music’s biggest stars, achieving UK #1s with Benny Blanco and Halsey (“Eastside”), and Ed Sheeran (“Beautiful People”) as well as further UK Top 10 hits, both solo (“Talk”) and with Logic and Alessia Cara (“1-800-273-8255”), and Marshmello (“Silence”). In 2020, he was named the youngest artist to surpass 15 billion streams on Spotify alone and was named BMI’s Pop Songwriter of the Year. To date, Khalid has exceeded 30 billion streams, and has been nominated for seven Grammys, and won six Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, a Teen Choice Award, an MTV Video Music Award, and an MTV Woodie Award. He was also honoured with the Key To The City in his hometown by The Mayor and Council of the City of El Paso. Queen Naija × Big Sean

Queen Naija and GRAMMY-nominated, multi-Platinum artist Big Sean heat up the snowy streets and rooftops of New York City in the official video for their new single, “Hate Our Love.” The two Detroit natives shot the romantic visual with director Cam Busby (Wiz Khalifa, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby). DJ Envy of “The Breakfast Club” has a cameo, setting the song up as the new cuffing season classic. View “Hate Our Love” HERE. Facebook gave fans an exclusive official first look at the video the day before it was released.

For Queen, recording with Big Sean was “a bucket list collaboration.” Released shortly before Valentine’s Day, ”Hate Our Love“ amassed over 4.2 million combined global streams in its first week of release, her biggest debut since 2018’s “Karma,” which is certified Platinum. “Hate Our Love” was produced by Mike Woods (Kehlani, Kiana Lede, Yung Bleu). The single is already charting in Billboards Hot 100.

Vibe observed, “Queen Naija returns to the music scene with ‘Hate Our Love,’ an ode to defending a difficult but ultimately worthwhile relationship. No stranger to defending love himself, Big Sean joins the songstress on this modern flip of Bobby Glenn’s timeless ballad ‘Sounds Like A Love Song.'” HipHopDX said, “Big Sean blesses Queen Naija’s ride-or-die new single.” BET noted, “This song is a soundtrack for anyone who wants to keep those messy crows out of their love life.” Queen paid a visit to Fox’s “The Real” to discuss the single.

“Hate Our Love” appeared on New Music Friday playlists in 14 countries around the world and has earned spins on Clara’s “Hottest Records of the Week” show on BBC Radio 1. The single impacted Urban Mainstream radio in the U.S. earlier this week. The official audio for “Hate Our Love” was deemed “viral” on TikTok, where it has more than 225 million combined views already.

Big Sean topped the Billboard 200 for the third time with his 2020 album DETROIT 2. His six-song EP with Hit-Boy, What You Expect, was released last fall. He will be performing at Coachella in April. Queen has amassed over three billion combined global streams in her career to date. Her debut album, missunderstood, entered Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart at No. 1 and earned a place in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. Nominated for a 2021 American Music Award in the Favorite R&B Album category, it includes the No. 1 hit “Butterflies Pt. 2” and the Gold-certified singles “Pack Lite” and “Lie To Me” ft. Lil Dirk. The deluxe edition of the album, missunderstood, still, includes five previously unreleased songs.

ZOE WEES × SPOTIFY SINGLES

Emerging German pop singer-songwriter, Zoe Wees, has released her inaugural Spotify Singles recordings. As the face of Spotify’s 2021 EQUAL program for the month of May and one of Spotify’s Germany RADAR artists in 2020, Zoe has almost 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and is excited to share these new songs with her wide global fanbase.

Side A is a heartfelt ballad version of her hit single, “Hold Me Like You Used To,” backed by a stunning string section. For Side B, Zoe flexes her powerful vocals with a raw, soulful cover of Canadian singer-songwriter Tate McRae’s “You Broke Me First.”

To date, Zoe’s music has been featured on over 345 Spotify playlists worldwide including New Music Friday, Today’s Top Hits, Hits du Moment, It’s Hits Sweden, and Pop Rising, with Zoe’s first two singles, megahit Control and Girls Like Us, having reached half a billion global streams.

Zoe says, “I decided to do a string version of ‘Hold Me Like You Used To’ because I love strings and I wanted to give the song another sound with a different kind of vibe that makes it even more sad. I covered Tate McRae because I love ‘you broke me first,’ I love Tate, and she’s doing an amazing job. I love the lyrics and the way she wrote the song.”

Valley – Society

Just last week, JUNO nominated alternative-pop band, Valley shared their new song “SOCIETY” via Capitol Records. They return today with a fresh video to support the track that made waves on Spotify’s New Music Friday, It’s A Bop, Pop Sauce and Chill Pop playlists to name a few. Valley, comprised of Rob Laska, Karah James, Mickey Brandolino and Alex DiMauro have spent the past two years developing organic buzz through a personal and intimate connection with their fans. Watch the official video for “SOCIETY” HERE.

In the video, directed by Oliver Whitfield-Smith and produced by Dwight Jantzi, the band can be seen feeding into the fast rise to fame, cracking under the pressure, and eventually pushing back against the money-hungry fat cats to stay true to themselves. The band’s own bass player, Alex DiMauro, portrays the villainous music executive in the video. Fans have flocked to this track for the relatability of never being able to please everyone without first burning out.

“SOCIETY” hinges on a hummable, clean guitar riff. Its head-bopping beat thumps in the background as Valley gleefully nods to “You Get What You Give” by The New Radicals and “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus. Laska comments, “To us, both those songs have such an uplifting chorus but lyrically deal with some frustration with the world/pop culture and just not letting it get you down. They both lyrically touch on not following the rules just because you’re told to; trusting your own beliefs and making your own decisions.”

If TikTok happened in 1998, it might sound like this song. Underpinned by dancefloor-ready piano, the track rides this momentum towards the sweeping and shimmering hook. On the song’s meaning, Laska explains, “‘SOCIETY’ tells a story of how our career can sometimes feel. We exist within an ever-changing creative industry full of opinions and music machines making everything go round. At times, what you truly have to say as an artist can feel diminished or not as important when it comes to the context of making a product or something that people will label as sellable and listenable. At the end of the day, “SOCIETY” is Valley accepting the terms and conditions of our identity, songs and career, the fact that we’ll never be able to please everyone but also coming to terms that no matter what the public considers to be a ‘hit,’ we tell ourselves we’re always going to follow our own artistic arrow.”

“SOCIETY” follows Valley‘s unanticipated release earlier this year, “Like 1999.” Its genesis traces back to a TikTok post that featured the chorus of an unreleased song. In only a few short days, the TikTok had over 700,000 views and over 100,000 likes with Johnny Orlando and JESSIA posting duets of the song on their own accounts. Valley rushed to finish “Like 1999” in under 48 hours for fans and the song went on to inspire thousands of creators and amass 2.5M+ views on the original TikTok post. Now their fastest growing song to date, “Like 1999” has helped push their catalog to eclipse over 100 million streams while breaking borders, appearing on viral charts in the U.S., Philippines, Korea, Japan and more.

After an unprecedented year for live music, Valley is excited to reconnect with their fans to perform across North America. The band is gearing up to play Wunderbus Festival in Columbus, OH and Bottlerock Festival in Napa Valley, CA at the end of the summer and then joining COIN on a 17-date North American tour this fall.

girl in red

Spotify’s global emerging artist program, RADAR, announced its latest artist partnership for the US, the Oslo-based pop sensation, girl in red, aka Marie Ulven.

On the heels of the recent announcement of her debut album, if i could make it go quiet, out April 30th and its accompanying FINNEAS-produced first single, “Serotonin,” Marie has proven exactly why she’s a Spotify RADAR artist: She has over 886 Million Spotify streams to date, almost 9 Million monthly listeners, and placements on over 396 Spotify playlists including New Music Friday, LOREM, Oyster, Ultimate Indie, and Out Now.

To celebrate these milestones, Spotify and girl in red have teamed up for a mini-documentary, which is out today and viewable on YouTube HERE or on our RADAR playlist HERE

In the 11-min clip, Marie’s bubbly personality shines, as she cracks jokes and spins a basketball while playing show-and-tell in her childhood bedroom: The serotonin molecule she bought in honor of her new single, her grandmother’s metronome, her bass, her cello, a spiderweb (!!), her fingerboard ramps, and even her diary.

After a jaunt through the snowy forest in Marie’s hometown of Horten, Norway, we learn about her early inspiration for making music.  Her close bond with her family is clear, and we’re let into their circle as her mom shares old photos and memories of her upbringing — from her tomboy style to her fear of flying to her sexuality.  As Marie revs up for a return to live music, a busy album promo cycle, and arena-headlining ambitions, she shares who keeps her the most grounded: Luna, her Bernese Mountain dog!

Zachary Knowles 'carpool single' shot by Josh Hymowitz (Cornerstone) for 360 Magazine

ZACHARY KNOWLES – CARPOOL

TENDER POP CREATOR ZACHARY KNOWLES SHARES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO “CARPOOL” OUT NOW VIA FADER LABEL

WATCH HERE | LISTEN HERE

“Knowles’ emotional, nostalgic longings are universally felt, and are sure to tug on your heartstrings. At the same time, his music is upbeat, catchy, and dazzlingly ambient.”

-360 MAGAZINE

“Zachary Knowles has dug himself a soft spot in our hearts, and it is only a matter of time until he finds his way into yours.”

Ones To Watch

Knowles offers up honeyed vocals while he straddles the sonic outlines of introspective bedroom-pop and pacific R&B inflections. Propelled by the subtleness of a minimal production and an eloquent falsetto… toward the direction of a sonic haven where one can find equanimity in a time of difficulty.”

-EARMILK

Rising artist and tender pop creator, Zachary Knowles, shares his newest single, “carpool,” today via FADER Label. The latest from Knowles is a song of yearning for his love to be next to him and the pain of distance that turns to a need for escape and daydreaming. Nobody can drive in the carpool lane alone and Knowles feels into the void in his life, and sings, “it’s not the same without you here with me.” On the single, he says:

“carpool” is about the mental traffic jam and anxiety of being separated from the person you love. I can’t stand being stuck in traffic, so I thought it would be the perfect concept to portray those lonely feelings. The song itself flowed out very naturally and I knew it was something special. At its surface, “carpool” focuses on how bad it feels to be alone, but below it’s a love song about desire and how your person makes all the lonely and sad times better.”

The music video for “carpool” opens with Knowles sitting in front of his car underneath a street light. Lyrics flash across the screen that hit extra hard, like “only so many songs I can sing by myself,” as the loneliness in his heart is written all over his face. He gets on his feet and starts packing his car up with every door as wide open as his longing heart.

The previous single, “johnny & june,” arrived last month, just before Valentine’s Day, along with a music video steeped in mystery, nostalgia and most importantly: love. The Texas-based singer, songwriter and performer calls back to one of the most famous love stories in music, that of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. The accompanying music video by TJ Hoover and Jonah George (Jeremy Zucker, Chelsea Cutler, Alexander23) takes the song to an innocent setting that many can trace first love moments back to: high school. The viewer never sees the face of this could-be June, and yet they see so deeply into the soulful eyes of this potential Johnny.

Spotify highlighted the track on their New Music Friday playlist, where Knowles is a mainstay with his new releases. The Most Radicalist described the single saying, “I can imagine a venue filled with fans chanting along to this cut,” and Wizard Radio says, “The best way to describe Zachary Knowles music is like a warm hug from a cozy blanket.” Hidden Hits says, “‘Sweeter than honey, “johnny & june” is the best love song we’ve heard from Knowles thus far. Although he wrote “johnny & june” at a time of chaos and confusion, Knowles managed to craft a charming tune that’ll certainly resonate with millions around the world.”

The selflessness of Zachary Knowles isn’t just in the music’s sweet lyrics of love, but also how it was made. Ashe, Alexander23, X Lovers, and more have been collaborators of his and share a collective vision of expression to really serve listeners in the most impactful way possible. With 45 million global streams, nearly one million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 53k followers on Tiktok, it’s clear it’s working.

The fresh up-and-comer, who opened for Alec Benjamin on tour in 2019, has been turning heads in the pop and indie-R&B realms with two EPs, Feelings (2018) and Magnolia (2020), with songs such as “city” and “slow summer” that show off his gifted, yet ever-improving songwriting skills that caught the attention of Ones to WatchUproxx, Earmilk, Happy Mag, and more.

The newest offerings, “carpool” and “johnny & june,” both out now via FADER Label, are follow-ups to his powerful stand-alone single “super sad songs” and his Magnolia EP, offering proof that pop can be personal and that Knowles is one of its most intriguing and capable emerging song crafters to date.

BIO

Zachary Knowles has spent his entire life leading up to this moment. Hailing from Magnolia, Texas, Knowles was bit by the musical bug at an early age, when his parents gifted him a light-up keyboard in first grade. “I started teaching myself songs on there, but I always kept it to myself,” he explains. It didn’t take long for Knowles to run with his newfound talents; Eventually, Knowles transitioned into writing his own material, and he was pleasantly surprised at the online reaction to his own work as it racked up tens of thousands of streams on SoundCloud almost immediately: “I fell in love with making music. I’d come home from school and write as much stuff as I could.”

In his freshman year of college, he set a goal to release something properly and ended up with a series of well-received singles that led to a full EP of music touching on influences ranging from John Mayer to Post Malone and, most predominantly, Justin Bieber. Most recently, he released his Magnolia EP, a collection of songs that take direct inspiration from his small-town upbringing, young love, and the lessons that come with growing up. Knowles’ music has a strong ethos – To forge deeper connections with those around him by reaching deep inside to expose the commonalities that bond everyone in this universe. “I just wanna reach people,” he explains. “My whole dream at the start of this was to build relationships, whether it’s with one person or a hundred people. Personal connections to others are so important. Music is a really cool way to express yourself in a real way and talk about real-life things, rather than what others want to hear.” It’s an admirable aim, and you’ll definitely want to hear what Knowles has coming next.

The album debuted at #1 and features the Top 10 hit “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.” The critically acclaimed and chart-topping single was nominated for the “Pop Duo / Group Performance” 2019 GRAMMY and was BSB’s first hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 10 years. Upon its release, the single went straight to #1 on iTunes Top Songs and Global charts and charted in over 22 countries.

In May 2019 the Backstreet Boys kicked off “The DNA World Tour” – the group’s biggest arena tour in 18 years thanks to the global success of their #1 new album. The DNA World Tour has seen the group sell out arenas all over North America, Europe, Asia and South America.

Over the years, the Backstreet Boys have continually captivated millions of people with their impressive catalog of hit songs and creative partnerships. Most recently, we saw the group’s highly successful Las Vegas Residency “Larger Than Life” become the fastest-selling residency in Las Vegas history; along with hilarious collaborations with Jimmy Fallon and James Corden; a #1 Country radio single with Florida Georgia Line; and viral remixes of their hit song “I Want It That Way” by Chance The Rapper and Lil Uzi.
