Doechii – Crazy

Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) and Capitol Records‘ new artist Doechii drops the song and video for “Crazy.” The record and the visual challenges the stigmatized imagery of the female form, with both the director, C. Prinz, and Doechii working extensively over the last four months developing the narrative of this film: intentionally and meticulously crafting each scene and frame to tell a story derived from both of their personal and shared experiences.

“Crazy is about un-contained power, creativity and confidence. People call you crazy when they fear you or they don’t understand you,” says Doechii. “So when I use it in the song I’m reflecting that energy back on them to show them themselves.”

Listen HERE and watch  HERE.

On “Crazy” the Tampa rapper, singer, dancer, fashionista, and genre-disruptor attacks with aggressive flexes, colorful cadences and shouted raps while conveying a range of intense emotions. The vicious and surreal music video matches the song’s controlled chaos. Doechii, and likewise nude women, wield guns, dance in dynamic choreography and engage in destruction. The hybrid of hip-hop and broken beat finds Doechii raging as she attempts to empower the exponential capacity of women in every form of their being.

Video director C. Prinz states the film is a visual metaphor for “the hardships women go through in their ascension to power” that asks viewers “to see the female form not in moments of sexuality but instead for what we all go through, what we survive through and what we transcend.”

A testament to the breadth of Doechii’s sound and talents, “Crazy” stands in stark contrast to previous TDE/Capitol single, “Persuasive” a suave ode to weed and late-night partying.

Both singles follow the news of TDE and Capitol’s partnership with Doechii. She’s dominated the internet since the release of her unwaveringly original EP, 2020s Oh the Places You’ll Go and 2021’s BRA-LESS, and the single “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake,” which has generated over 33 million streams on Spotify alone. In addition to featuring on Isaiah Rashad‘s “Wat U Sed,” she was named one of Spotify‘s “Most Necessary Artists to Watch in 2022” and tipped as an Artist To Watch by Complex, XXL, Rolling Stone, Pigeons & Planes and Hiphopdx.

Jack Johnson – Meet the Moonlight

Multi-platinum musician Jack Johnson announced the release of a new studio album, Meet The Moonlight, available June 24 through Brushfire Records/Republic Records. The album’s lead single “One Step Ahead” is available now through all digital platforms, alongside an accompanying video. View HERE. Meet The Moonlight is available for a pre-order HERE and features an exclusive 180g milky clear vinyl.

Meet The Moonlight, Johnson’s eighth studio album and first full-length release in five years, was produced by Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes, Perfume Genius, Jim James) and recorded both in Los Angeles (at Sound City and EastWest) and The Mango Tree (Johnson’s studio in Hawaii). The creation process marks a major artistic milestone from past work, taking shape from a one-on-one collaboration with Mills (whose contributions included everything from fretless guitar to Moog synth to steel drums) and unveiled an intimate and highly experimental process that involved embedding Johnson’s elegantly stripped-back arrangements with enchanting sonic details.

“When Blake and I first got in touch we’d send each other playlists, and over time we realized we were drawn to music that sounds effortless despite all the effort put into making it,” says Johnson. “After a while we got a language together and I gained a trust in him that allowed me to let go, push outside my comfort zone, and get to a sound I really loved.”

On Earth Day, Johnson will perform an intimate set on the Kōkua Learning Farm, an educational and agricultural destination located in the heart of Haleʻiwa, Hawaiʻi. The farm is part of the latest project of Johnson’s Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation which is establishing agricultural, educational, and retail activities that promote local food, waste reduction, and environmental stewardship. Tune in on social media Friday, April 22nd on Earth Day to watch the performance and for a special announcement from Johnson himself. Time and additional details will be announced soon.

This summer, Johnson will embark on a 35-date summer tour, kicking off June 21 at Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford, NH, with second shows recently added in several markets due to demand. The full Meet The Moonlight 2022 Tour tickets are available HERE.

Continuing a commitment to support sustainability and local community projects, all net proceeds earned through Platinum and Premium ticketing programs will be donated to the Johnson Ohana Foundation to support All At Once Non-Profit Partners at each concert. In addition, $2 from every ticket will support the environment, with half being directed to carbon offset projects and the other half to support the All At Once Non-Profit Partners and their environmental projects, plastic-free initiatives and food security efforts.

Jack Johnson has released seven studio albums and two live albums that have sold over 25 million copies worldwide. Tauren Wells – Joy in the Morning

Ten-time GRAMMY nominee Tauren Wells will release his new album, Joy in the Morning, on June 10. As the album pre-order launched, he shared his new single, “Empty,” and announced that he will give the song its national television performance debut on the Tamron Hall Show. (Check HERE for air times.) The soaring piano ballad is perhaps Wells’ most empathetic song to date. “You could have it all / You could have the whole world at your feet / But still feel empty,” he sings, his voice reaching new crescendos. He wrote the track with Tedd T., who also produced, and Paul Duncan. Listen to “Empty” HERE. View the visualizer HERE. Check out the album trailer HERE.

Joy in the Morning, Wells’ third album and first for Capitol Records/CCMG, follows 2021’s Citizen of Heaven (Live), which received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. He also received GRAMMY and NAACP Image Awards nominations for “Hold Us Together (Hope Mix),” his 2021 duet with H.E.R. On Joy in the Morning, Wells pushes the limits of what people might expect from him, combining sonically adventurous music with a deep, abiding message.

“I’ve come to view my music as an entrance not as an escape—it’s where you get to step in and consider your life,” explains Tauren Wells, who will be co-hosting the K-LOVE Fan Awards in Nashville this May. “You can consider the pain. Consider the disappointments. Consider the dreams. And now, all of a sudden, you have a soundtrack that helps soothe the wounds or awaken the dreamer. It’s not about getting out of your life. It’s about getting more out of your life.”

Joy in the Morning includes his recent single “Fake It” Feat. Aaron Cole, praised by E! News as an “upbeat, infectious track.” Wells recently gave an exclusive live performance of “Fake It” from the Vevo Studios. Watch HERE.

Fans who pre-order the digital edition of Joy in the Morning will instantly receive “Empty” and “Fake It.” The album is also available in Wells’ online store along with an exclusive line of Joy in the Morning merchandise, which includes t-shirts, long-sleeve shirt, hats and more.

About Tauren Wells

tThe celebrated recording artist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter has amassed one billion combined global streams and 225 million video views in his career to date, charted six No. 1 radio singles and earned one RIAA Platinum certification and two Gold records. Remembering his childhood in Battle Creek, Michigan, he notes what a varied and diverse his musical upbringing he had. “My dad played everything for me from Winona Judd to the Isley Brothers to Bonnie Raitt, Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, AC/DC, James Brown, Prince,” Wells recalls. “I realized I could make music as inspiring and exciting as Michael Jackson while also talking about things that actually matter to me through this lens of faith and love. Now I can sit down at the piano and talk about what I’m going through and, because of the power of songwriting, someone else can identify with the same thing I’m feeling even though we’ve never met and I’ve never heard their story. That was the thing that propelled me to sing and write and dance and perform and create.”

In the process, he asserts himself as a strong, soulful, and spirited voice for not only his native Chicago, but the culture at large. He’s endured his fair share of pain and gained wisdom and perspective as a result. Growing up on the city’s notorious Southside, he watched friends and family fall prey to violence and drugs. At the same time, he gained popularity throughout his high school and community. Stuck at home on house arrest, he honed his voice through a series of freestyles online. During 2020, he brought his Spotify stream tally into the millions on the back of “Addicted” and initial breakthrough “Deep In Love.” After piling up over 15 million views and 10 million streams, the artist immediately connects by holding nothing back.

Expert Diet Advice

Health is important, and having a good diet is necessary, but with a million “experts” out there, it’s hard to know what to take seriously. This is why to trust scientists like Nicole Avena, PhD, Associate Professor of Neuroscience at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Visiting Professor of Health Psychology and Princeton University. She gave the below advice.

  • Eat your fruits and veggies: It’s a cliché tip that many individuals have heard from their parents from a very young age. But it’s true. Each day you should strive to have at least a handful of both fruits and vegetables. Try finding foods that are high in antioxidants like blueberries, strawberries, and kale. In light of this year’s theme, ‘Celebrate a World of Flavors,’ go outside your comfort zone and try a new recipe or food from a different country. It might become a new favorite!
  • Daily vitamin intake: In addition to a healthy and balanced diet, it’s important to cover all your bases when it comes to daily vitamins. Each person’s dietary needs will vary slightly. While most people can get enough from diet alone, others may need to take a supplement, and nowadays, there are many vitamin options for men and women of all ages. For men, try vitafusion™ Men’s multivitamin, and for women, try vitafusion™ Women’s multivitamin, both easy to take chewable gummy supplements that include the necessary vitamins and minerals to stay on track. With the weather so unpredictable this season, I also recommend having a cold shortening product on hand that contains zinc, like Zicam RapidMelts, that can help get rid of a cold quicker when taken at the first sign of symptoms. Taking vitamins is a simple yet often overlooked habit for maintaining proper health. If you need an extra reminder, set a daily alarm to ensure you get your necessary vitamin intake.
  • Water is your friend: Staying hydrated is essential for your overall health. Not only does water help increase your energy levels and flush out toxins, but it also helps your body maintain regularity and improves your skin complexion. It can be easy to forget to drink water throughout the day, so keep a water bottle at your desk or area where you spend most of your time. This will serve as a constant reminder to stay hydrated.
  • Spice up your life: This month, try incorporating more herbs and spices into your diet and ‘Celebrate a World of Flavors.’ Herbs and spices allow you to season food using less salt and sugar while imparting health benefits. Fresh ginger, basil, rosemary, and mint are all excellent additions to many foods and recipes widely consumed around the world. In celebration of flavor, I challenge you to try a spice you have never tried before.

Annika Wells – Modern Art

Rising pop artist Annika Wells shares the video for her new single “Modern Art.” The video was directed by Logan Fields (Syd, Slayyyter, Rod Wave) and captures the songs essence as Annika walks the halls of an art gallery. The exhibit? Remnants of a relationship.

The minimalist pop song is a poignant piece of commentary on heartbreak in the digital age. Her voice is soft yet fragile as she tries to absorb the truth of her own words. “There’s no pretty way to break a heart,” she intones in a half whisper over an ominous drone. A delicate beat then kicks up underneath, urging her to share more. “Breaking up is modern art,” she declares, before orchestral strings sweep in as if soundtracking the credits to another sad ending.

The track not only captures the pain of a breakup, but the struggle with having to process it inside—and online. Annika explains that the song “explores the aftermath in the modern age where our relationships are no longer just interpersonal experiences, but digital galleries in which we can curate, arrange, and erase carefully constructed identities. It walks you through the world that’s left after the real break up—the physical evidence, but also the online remnants that are increasingly inescapable in this day and age.”

About Annika Wells

Most people keep personal, embarrassing, and crazy thoughts to themselves. Annika Wells isn’t one of those people. She doesn’t just express these thoughts out loud either. She peppers them through her songs with the kind of honesty you expect from your childhood best friend. In her music, she’ll rattle off bucket list ambitions, refer to herself phallically, or write about a doomed romance (with that same ex as her cowriter). After watching her older brother play piano, she started taking classical lessons at the age of four. She eventually ended up at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Before dropping out, she linked up with producer Giulio Cercato and wrote and recorded what would become her first single “Break” in 2016. It caught fire around the world, catapulted onto the Spotify Global Viral Chart, and eventually eclipsed 15 million Spotify streams. She wrote and featured on “Crawl Outta Love” for Illenium, amassing 58 million Spotify streams, reaching the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot/Dance Electronic Songs Chart, and notching the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) Grand Prize. Between performing in sold-out arenas across the country with Illenium throughout 2019, she landed a string of major placements as a writer for Jonas Brothers, PRETTYMUCH, BTS, and Steve Aoki. After racking up over half a billion streams, she welcomes everyone into her mind and heart on a series of singles and her forthcoming debut for Vol. 1/Epic Records.

Sam Thompkins – who do you pray to?

One of the fastest rising British male artists of 2022, Sam Tompkins releases the who do you pray to? EP alongside emotive visuals for new single “My Brother” via Republic Records.

With a host of stellar singles already released from the EP; including “Whole,” “Bloodline” and “Hero;” Sam honed his craft across the collection of 7 tracks revealing his unique voice as a songwriter instilled in the narrative arc of his songs.

New single “My Brother” encapsulates his intimate story telling style, as Sam notes; “‘My Brother’ is really special to me. I love it so much. The origin of it is actually a sad but lovely story. When I was about 18, we lost our Nana and at the funeral we had to read the eulogy. I got about 6 words in before being in floods of tears, my brother read the rest and was so strong. Flash forward to last year when my Papa (Grandpa) passed away and I decided to do the eulogy. Sadly because of covid my brother couldn’t make it as he was working away in Canada. This time I got the whole way through it and I remember getting the text from my brother who watched it through a live stream that I smashed it and I felt so proud because the only way I was able to do it was knowing I was the exact age my brother had stepped up and been brave 5 years prior.”

Sam Tompkins is a force to be reckoned with; following his own critically acclaimed singles, the TikTok trending collaboration with Jnr Choi “To The Moon;” a string of viral videos including impressive covers shared via TikTok and grass-roots touring; he has garnered over 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify and amassed a colossal online audience which has grown exponentially over the past year.

The release of this debut body of work is set to cement Sam‘s status as one of the year’s most exciting new artists. His music has already been praised by the likes of MTV, Clash, BBC, and Notion; played across BBC Radio 1 and featured on flagship Spotify editorial playlists.

Matching pop touches to a classic feel, he’s often compared to Sam Fender‘s anthemic truth-seeking or Tom Walker‘s revelatory autobiography. Yet Sam’s work stands alone and is already scaling mountainous heights. His music digs deep, explores the key topics in his life and communicates emotions we all feel, but sometimes can’t put into words.

Elton John and Shawn Mendes are fans, pop phenomenon Bebe Rexha has co-signed his work, while Justin Bieber is a prominent supporter. The two recently hung out in LA, while a video of Justin singing Sam’s single ‘Whole’ has gained more than 2 million views–and counting. Closer to home, JayKae jumped onstage on Sam’s last tour, and renowned UK artists Krept & Konan, Chip and Clean Bandit are fans.

Such a broad spread of support simply represents his audience as a whole; there’s a literal army of TikTok followers moving alongside him, with Sam amassing almost a half million followers on Instagram–more than some very established artists. In fact, he already has more Instagram followers than some winners at the BRITs last year.

Selling out every venue he puts his name against, Sam’s live prowess stretches across Europe. Next month, Sam will be one of the first UK artists to tour Europe in a bus since the pandemic hit as he heads out on a mammoth European tour, containing a packed out Kentish Town Forum date on April 8th.

From his humble beginnings busking on the streets of Brighton, EP who do you pray to? is set to continue Sam’s momentum and rise on the international pop stage.

Rosalía – CANDY

To celebrate the arrival of MOTOMAMI, Rosalía treats fans to another eye-popping visual with the music video for “CANDY.” Watch the video which features Rosalía partaking in her favorite pastime of karaoke HERE.

Rosalía launched a once-in-a-lifetime immersive experience on TikTok LIVE. Drawing a massive audience well over a million viewers, she performed 14 tracks from the record during a mind-blowing show, giving each song its own distinct feel and visual. The event was personally conceptualized and created by Rosalía, directed by Stillz, and produced by CANADA with all the footage impressively filmed exclusively on mobile phones.

About Rosalía

Rosalía is a Grammy & Eight-Time Latin Grammy Winner who has quickly “leapt to the forefront of the global pop landscape” on the strength of her innovative musical fusions and distinctive style. She has repeatedly shattered barriers for both female and Spanish language artists, while being widely hailed as: “a complicated genius… reflecting femininity and strength… a new generation leader… making Flamenco a global phenomenon… while becoming Earth’s Most Exciting Pop Star.” With the May 2018 release of her innovative breakthrough single “Malamente (Cap.1: Augurio)” and the fall arrival of her landmark album El Mal Querer, fans worldwide quickly embraced Rosalía’s phenomenal vocal capability meshed with her now fully realized fusion of classic Flamenco and other timeless music styles of Spain, with R&B, hip-hop, contemporary Latin-American rhythms and electronic beats. Coupled with Rosalía’s strong influences from industrial visual arts, female empowerment, fashion and choreography, it became clear to critics that: “El Mal Querer is a boundary-breaking modern masterpiece… that has resonated like a shockwave… it stands out from virtually everything else on the global pop landscape.” As a result of the album’s long-running impact, and additional 2019 singles that followed, Rosalía garnered a GRAMMY Award, standout GRAMMY performance, the historic first-ever Best New Artist Grammy nomination for a Spanish Language artist, and eight Latin Grammys, including Album of the Year. Additional acclaim has included 2 MTV VMA‘s, multiple magazine covers-including the annual Sunday New York Times Magazine‘s special Culture Cover, highly praised Coachella and Lollapalooza festival appearances, the most watched global YouTube video of 2019 for a female artist, and “Best Music of the Decade” picks from Rolling Stone, Billboard, GQ, The LA Times, Pitchfork and more. While Rosalía has spent a large majority of time immersed in the creative process of writing and recording her eagerly-awaited next album, she also finalized landmark brand partnerships with Nike and MAC‘s “Viva Glam” campaign, lead the field of LATIN GRAMMY winners for the second year in a row became the first-ever all-Spanish language music artist to grace the cover of VOGUE in the United States (with the January 2021 “Vogue Values” issue, photographed by Annie Leibovitz), and joined Travis Scott, Bad Bunny, the Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Arca, Tokisha and more on massive streaming collaborative tracks. She now begins her next creative chapter with the music of MOTOMAMI.

Capella Grey × Nija – Confujawn

Bronx R&B sensation Capella Grey returns with a captivating new single called “Confujawn.” The intoxicating R&B anthem features breakout artist Nija, who showcases her trademark sultry vocals. Grey, who previously bent the ears of fans around the world with the player’s anthem “Gyalis,” shows a more introspective, vulnerable side on “Confujawn.” Listen HERE and watch a stylish, yet intimate video HERE.

The rich melodies and sensual vocals of “Confujawn” prove Grey has songs for everyone. If “Gyalis” was a take-no-prisoners club anthem, “Confujawn” finds the rising star showing a mature approach to a rocky relationship. “Like what we doing, no more games,” Grey croons over a plucky guitar line and boom-bap drums. “We’re getting older, I told you no more looking over my shoulder.” The track’s video opens with a frank conversation between Grey and Nija about the way they relate to one another. They eventually decide to make the most of a long night out in Los Angeles, which is captured in moody, stylish lighting while they trade verses.

Each of the artists has been on the rise over the past few years. Nija has proven herself an accomplished songwriter and an emotionally-affecting singer nominated for three Grammy’s. Since kicking off her career in 2017, she’s written for Cardi B, Summer Walker, and most recently Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa‘s new single “Sweetest Pie.” Now at 24, she’s come into her own as a solo artist with her acclaimed debut EP, January’s Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn You.

Grey, for his part, has created a fresh yet nostalgic R&B sound that invites listeners across generations. With the runaway success surrounding “Gyalis,” over 300 million combined streams, No. 1 at Urban Radio, No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100, it would be an obvious move to double down on that formula. However, Grey isn’t your typical artist. With “Confujawn,” he has created a song as instantly catchy as “Gyalis,” but from a completely different angle.

Though he’s newly signed to Capitol, the New Yorker has been establishing himself as a singer, songwriter, and star the past few years. With “Gyalis” and “Confujawn,” those days of relentless grind as a cab driver are starting to feel like a distant memory. Grey hit No. 2 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart, scored BET‘s Amplified Artist of the Month in December, and also made it onto Billboard’s 15 Hip-Hop and R&B Artists to Watch in 2022 list. Success isn’t easy to come by, but now that Grey is here, he’s showcasing the many ways he can craft a winning single while working on his debut project set to release soon.
