The massive Live Nation produced tour – which ultimately travels through 46 cities in 15 countries – just wrapped up the run through Latin American and will next head to North America before wrapping up in Europe on December 18th with a performance at Paris’ Accor Arena. TRIUMPH OF ROSALIA IN MADRID

Rosalía surrenders and triumphs with the M of Madrid and Motomami in her two shows full of hits.

The Catalan singer offered two wild and innovative pop shows at the WiZink Center before an ecstatic audience. We couldn’t wait to hear Rosalía sing in concert. And finally, this Tuesday, July 19, and Wednesday, July 20, we saw the creator of Motomami gather her fans in Madrid.

On Tuesday, she appeared in a total red look with an unstructured board skirt, bullfighter leather jacket, bodysuit, extra-long braids, and high boots. The Spanish singer appeared under her iconic helmet. On Wednesday, she acted with the same look but in a different color by using black and nude yellow for the second time.

Just a few minutes after 9:30 p.m., the first reflections of the helmets of the Motomami universe appeared behind the stage. It sounded like “Chica, que dices?!” with the motorcycles roaring. The singer began the show with Saoko‘s unbeatable song, which is a shot of energy to start both concerts on top.

She continued to sing hits, one after another. CandyLa Fama, and Bizcochito were played in the first part of the two concerts, some of the greatest hits of her latest work.

With all the eclecticism, all the avant-garde, and all the groundbreaking elements of her disco, she knew how to transfer to the stage without great artifice, thus creating a historical show. Not only did we get a chance to listen to this new kind of music style, but we also got to feel the organic vein of hers settling into her setlist. Thus, we heard how Dolerme interpreted with no more elements than his voice and guitar.

In the way that her most recent album is a tribute to all the music that the artist likes, Rosalía scored a fun medley with mythical Latin songs: Gasolina by Daddy Yankee and Papi Chulo by Lorna. She also included them in her two performances, the Blinding Lights remix with her friend The Weeknd.

As we have already been observing in other tour’s concerts, the composer wanted to premiere new songs live: Despechá, Libertad, Dinero, or Aislamiento.

Motomami is an album that mixes flamenco, reggaeton, bolero, some jazz, and rap, perfect for you to listen to live.

Carly Gibert "Interstellar" image via Abby Harari at Def Jam Recordings and 10:22PM for use by 360 Magazine

Carly Gibert QxA

Carly Gibert is a 19-year-old house, R&B, and pop music artist, who recently was signed to 10:22PM/Def Jam Recordings. The bi-lingual, Spanish born singer just released her groovy single, “Interstellar,” which reflects on her move from Spain to LA. The disco-inspired bop appears on NOW Volume 79, and can be listened to HERE. Gibert has been making music since the age of four, and her passion for creating is evident in all of her releases. We sat down with the rising house star to speak about the inspiration behind her latest release, her songwriting process, and whats to come next in 2021.

  1. What inspired you to write “Interstellar?”

“Interstellar” is about trying to make someone care for you as much as you care for them. You would do anything for the other person, but they only think about what’s best for them. When I moved to LA from Spain–where I was born and raised–I kind of started a new life, it felt like living in another universe. “Interstellar” actually means “living between stars,” and that is how LA felt to me. It only took me moving to the other side of the planet to realize that I wasn’t taking care of myself. It also references the movie Interstellar (which is one of my favorite movies of all time) with its theme of leaving your life behind and starting over in an entirely different setting.

  1. How would you describe the sound of “Interstellar” in three words?

Futuristic, disco and progress.

  1. What musicians influence your music style the most?

Not specifically for this song, but I grew up with and have always been very inspired by Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Mac Miller and Tyler the Creator. I definitely grew up on house music as well, since my dad would play it at home all the time; and I think you can actually hear that on “Interstellar.” The song has a kind of house vibe to it.

  1. What does your song writing process usually look like? Was this process the same for the writing of “Interstellar”?

I usually start off with one of the 100,000 notes on my phone. I write notes every single day–anywhere, anytime. You never know when the inspiration is going to hit, so this is how I keep track of my thoughts. When I find a lyric idea or a concept that resonates with how I’m feeling, I start writing random lines around it. At first, it honestly doesn’t make any sense and nothing rhymes. At that point, it’s all about placing the right lines in the right places and making them fit into a melody. This was also the writing process of “Interstellar.” I sometimes like to start with the melodies, though, and just build the lyrics based on the melody.

  1. If you could design your dream music festival where you were the headlining act, who would you choose to perform alongside?

If we’re talking about VERY ambitious dreams, I would obviously say Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Kanye. Then, of course, Frank Ocean, Tyler the Creator, A$AP Rocky, Doja Cat, Audrey Nuna, SZA, BIA, Anderson .Paak, Rosalía, Saint Bodhi, Little Simz, Kali Uchis, Kaytranada, Rico Nasty, Tinashe, Ryan Beatty, Daniel Caesar, Miguel, Jorja Smith…there are too many great artists.

  1. What has it been like being signed and working with 10:22PM/DefJam?

If someone told me 3 years ago that I would be working with the people I’m working with today, I wouldn’t believe them. The people I’ve met and am surrounded by are some of the people I look up to the most, and I’m so grateful for everyone who made it possible. I have a very close relationship with everyone on my team. I speak to my A&R literally every day, and I’m so lucky to be able to talk directly to the label if I ever need something. I’m super involved in all aspects of my career, so having a direct relationship with the label is very reassuring.

  1. What is something about you or your music that fans might not expect?

I would definitely say singing in Spanish. It’s something I’ve never done before, and I’m so excited to do it. I don’t have any full songs in Spanish at the moment, but I do have some verses here and there. The next song I’m releasing actually includes Spanish verses. Growing up, I was very insecure about singing in Spanish because I thought my accent was weird. It didn’t flow as naturally as English did, even though Spanish is my first language. Through the years, I’ve been practicing improving my diction and I feel a lot more comfortable now. I guess I just had to make it my own and embrace the “Spanish person who can’t articulate Spanish” aspect of myself.

  1. What is next to come from you in 2021?

I have two more songs that I really love coming out in the next couple of months. Hopefully an EP by the end of the year? (Nobody confirmed that—I just made it up—but I’m putting it out in the world). To be honest, all I want to do this year is release all the music I’ve been working on for the past 2 years. These songs are so special to me, and I can’t wait for everyone to listen to what I have to say.

ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER × ROSALIA

ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER & ROSALÍA

NEW SINGLE: “NOTHING’S SPECIAL”

Listen HERE

Lyric Video HERE

When ROSALÍA first posted casual studio photos with Oneohtrix Point Never in late 2018, the prospect of a collaboration from two of the most singular voices in contemporary music set the internet alight and received speculative editorial from the likes of FADER and Rolling Stone.

In the intervening time, the two Artists have each added considerably to their growing bodies of work with various notable projects.  In 2021 alone, OPN has been a frequent collaborator with The Weeknd; as musical director for his Super Bowl Halftime Show and also performed with him at last week’s Brit Awards, “The Weeknd confirms what we always knew: Oneohtrix Point Never is a genius.” While her primary current focus has been on recording sessions to complete her own highly anticipated next album, Rosalia has seen two other collaborative singles released this year.  The long awaited “Lo Vas a Olvidar” with Billie Eilish, received wide global acclaim and “La Noche de Anoche” with Bad Bunny set a record for the most-ever debut day Spotify streams for a Spanish language song, reached #1 on Billboard’s “Latin Airplay” chart, and was performed by the pair on Saturday Night live.

Today, OPN and ROSALÍA premiere a stunning reworking of OPN’s “Nothing’s Special.”

“Nothing’s Special” first appeared as the closing track on the highly acclaimed Magic Oneohtrix Point Never but is re-imagined here with the inimitable combination of ROSALÍA’s pristine vocal and OPN’s elegant arrangement.

The eponymous album Magic Oneohtrix Point Never was released on October 30, 2020 – an epic, drifting fantasia – that includes a vocal from executive producer The Weeknd on No Nightmares, as well as further contributions from Caroline Polachek on Long Road Home, Arca, Nate Boyce and Nolanberollin. New York-based filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie directed a video for Magic standout Lost But Never Alone, a continuation of the collaboration between the Safdie brothers and OPN and following his celebrated scores for two of their iconic films Uncut Gems and Good Time, for which he received the Best Soundtrack Award at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

ABOUT BILLIE EILISH

Billie Eilish has become one of the biggest stars to emerge since the release of her debut single “Ocean Eyes” in 2015 and continues to shatter the ceiling of music with her genre-defying sound. Fast forward from her humble breakout to 2019 when Billie’s album WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S as well as 17 additional countries and was the most streamed album of the year.  WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? was written, produced and recorded entirely by Billie Eilish and brother Finneas in their childhood home in Los Angeles. Billie Eilish went on to make history as the youngest artist to receive nominations and win in all the major categories at the 62nd Grammy Awards receiving an award for Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album. Billie Eilish is also the youngest artist to write and record an official James Bond theme song, “No Time To Die.”

ABOUT ROSALÍA

With the May 2018 release of Rosalía’s innovative breakthrough single “Malamente (Cap.1: Augurio)” – and the fall arrival of her landmark album “El Mal Querer,”  fans worldwide quickly embraced Rosalía’s phenomenal vocal capability meshed with her now fully realized fusion of classic Flamenco and other timeless music styles of Spain, with R&B, hip-hop, contemporary Latin-American rhythms and electronic beats. Coupled with Rosalía’s strong influences from industrial visual arts, female empowerment, fashion and choreography, it became clear to critics that: “Rosalía is a complicated genius… El Mal Querer is a boundary-breaking modern masterpiece … that has resonated like a shockwave… it stands out from virtually everything else on the global pop landscape .” Within the subsequent two years, Rosalia has garnered a GRAMMY Award, performance, a first-ever Best New Artist nomination for a Spanish Language artist, and eight Latin Grammys, including Album of the Year, 2 MTV VMA’s, multiple magazine covers, Coachella and Lollapalooza festival appearances, the most watched global YouTube video of 2019 for a female artist, landmark brand partnerships with Nike and MAC’s “Viva Glam” campaign, and “Best Music of the Decade” picks from Rolling Stone, Billboard, GQ, The LA Times, Pitchfork and more… and that’s just the beginning.
