AGT SEASON 17 FINALE

MAYYAS CROWNED WINNER OF NBC’S ‘AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’ SEASON 17

Lebanese All-Female Dance Group Wins $1 Million Grand Prize and Will Join “America’s Got Talent Las Vegas LIVE” Stage Show at Luxor Hotel and Casino

“AGT” Continues as Summer’s #1 Program for the 17th Consecutive Year and Surpassed a Billion Video Views Across All of Its Social Accounts

The votes are in and America has chosen the show-stopping Lebanese dance group Mayyas as the winner of “America’s Got Talent” season 17. The Mayyas win the show’s $1 million grand prize and will join “America’s Got Talent Las Vegas LIVE” stage show at Luxor Hotel and Casino. The group’s specific performance dates in Las Vegas, as well as the other season 17 fan favorites that will be joining, will be announced soon.

The Mayyas won America’s hearts and votes through their powerful, hypnotizing and synchronous choreography. Their inspiring first audition garnered the instant attention of Sofia Vergara, who granted them her Golden Buzzer, and has now received nearly 17 million views on YouTube.

Throughout the competition, the group continued to raise the bar and receive high praises from the judges with their stunning performances. Executive producer Simon Cowell called their final performance “astonishing, global and huge.” Howie Mandel exclaimed it was “his favorite act ever on ‘AGT.’” Heidi Klum said, “This is what a million-dollar act looks like.”

“From the moment I first saw the Mayyas, their act was spectacular and gave me goosebumps,” said Sofia Vergara. “Their coordinated choreography was the most beautiful, creative dancing I have ever seen. Each time they competed, they continued to outdo themselves. Their empowering performances have earned them the ultimate title and I’m so proud of them and can’t wait to see what they do next.”

The Mayyas is an all-female alternative dance crew, founded by choreographer Nadim Cherfan, consisting of 36 Lebanese women of different ages. Their main message is female empowerment. The name of their group stems from an Arabic word, meaning the proud walk of a lioness. Building a career in Lebanon has been difficult, especially for female dancers, so it was important for the group to compete on the biggest stage on “AGT” and show the world what Arab women can do.

Season 17 of “America’s Got Talent” concluded tonight with an unforgettable finale at the Pasadena Civic Center with judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and host Terry Crews. The show’s finale featured the top 11 finalists performing alongside memorable guests, including the Black Eyed Peas, country music artists Darius Rucker and Jon Pardi, musician Trombone Shorty, as well as “America’s Got Talent” previous winners Terry Fator, Darci Lynne and Shin Lim. Emmy Award-winning actor and director Henry Winkler and comedian Jeff Ross also appeared.

“America’s Got Talent” is the most-watched summer program for the ninth consecutive year and is the most-watched summer broadcast unscripted program for the 17th consecutive year. The season has reached 57.6 million total viewers across linear and digital platforms, and has surpassed over a billion viewers across its social accounts.

Submissions for the art contest were accepted through December 18, 2020, with the winning submissions going on display January 22, 2021. The theme for this year’s contest was “Time to Think,” which encouraged young artists to think and express their thoughts through art. All of the artwork focused on being unique in concept, design, and execution. All winning artwork will help expand the illusion art gallery in a special section created to highlight local area youth art.

Encouraging youth to engage in art comes with many benefits. According to the National Endowment for the Arts, youth that engage in arts do better in school, are more optimistic, less likely to try drugs, and have higher school attachment. Additionally, youth who engage in art tend to have a higher quality of life, reduced stress and make them feel more involved in the community.

“Art is one of the things that we focus on here at WonderWorks Myrtle Beach,” added Stinnett. “We are happy to offer the area’s young artists a chance to have their artwork on display. Combine that with all the other family fun we offer, and it’s a winning combination.”

3 Common Misconceptions People Have About DraftKings

Daily fantasy sports are a type of fantasy sports (DFS) game where each contest takes place over a matter of days or hours. This is opposed to traditional fantasy sports, which take place over a whole season.

Just like with traditional fantasy sports, you build a team from a roster of players and earn points based on how well their team members play. You can also place bets and earn money by competing against other players via online platforms.

DraftKings is perhaps the most popular of these online platforms. Developed in 2012, they call themselves “the leader in daily fantasy sports” and boast a user-base of eight million players, far greater than their closest direct competitor, FanDuel.

Despite this popularity, there remain a number of major misconceptions when it comes to the DraftKings platform. Hopefully, by refuting these, you’ll be able to see why DraftKings is the right DFS platform for you!

Playing DraftKings requires more luck than skill.

It’s easy to see why this is a common belief. There is an element of luck in everything we do, but especially in sports – for example, a player you have in your lineup may be injured before the game, or not played by the coach during the game.

However, this does not mean that luck is the only thing involved when playing DraftKings. If you want to be truly successful, you will need to do your research. For example, you will need to be aware of any last-minute lineup changes before deciding on your roster of players for the game. Just because a player is famous does not mean that they are performing well, so you will also need to be aware of players’ current stats.

This is just some of the research that will go into being successful at DraftKings, so it is certainly not all based on luck.

Most games on the website are fixed.

There have certainly been cheating scandals about other daily fantasy sports games and websites, which makes it easy to see why many players believe that games on DraftKings have been fixed as well.

However, DraftKings is vigilant about cracking down on any cheating users. It uses the latest software and technology to detect anyone trying to subvert the system and takes strict action against such players. With a strong security system, you can be assured that even if some other websites have cheating problems, DraftKings is legit.

DraftKings uses bots to cheat players out of money.

Again, this is an understandable belief because of many such scandals. However, with a large user base, DraftKings is 100% legitimate and features only real players.

There may be players attempting to use bots in order to cheat other users out of money. However, DraftKings takes quick and decisive action against such users. Furthermore, it will never use “official” bots to affect your ability to win money – your winnings are always solely based on your matches with your rivals.

Ultimately, DraftKings is a great way to challenge your knowledge of sports against other users.

FIM Gold Medals

The Principality of Monaco, steeped in motorsports history, once again proved the perfect location for the FIM Awards, with tonight’s glittering ceremony declared a huge success for the almost six hundred guests who packed into the beautiful Sporting Monte-Carlo venue. In front of an audience, including representatives from the one hundred and eleven national federations, motorcycling legends, various members of the FIM, championship promoters, manufacturer and team representatives, sponsors and other invited international guests, the 2019 FIM World Champions were duly rewarded for their respective sporting achievements.

During the glamorous ceremony riders from all disciplines were invited to the stage to collect their FIM gold medals, with many having their own individual stories of a season-long battle that required both dedication and determination to eventually reach their ultimate goal. With his brother Marc absent due to recent surgery, Alex Marquez was on hand to collect his FIM Moto2 Grand Prix prize, as was five-time FIM Superbike World Champion Jonathan Rea.

Illustrating the diversity amongst the 2019 FIM World Champions the aforementioned two Circuit Racing heroes tonight stood shoulder to shoulder with two motorcycling heroines in the form of six-time FIM Women’s TrialGP World Champion Emma Bristow and newly crowned FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion Courtney Duncan from New Zealand.

Fifteen-year-old Jesper Knudsen from Denmark claiming the FIM Speedway Youth World Championship and Italy’s fourteen-year-old Valerio Lata who secured the FIM 85cc Junior Motocross World Championship were the youngest two riders in attendance this evening. Whilst Bradley Freeman – FIM EnduroGP and E1 World Champion – and Toni Bou – FIM TrialGP and FIM X-Trial World Champion – both collected two gold medals each tonight.

In addition to celebrating the bravery and exploits of the many FIM World Champions, it was also a moment to recognise the work done by others – individuals and organisations – who continue to work tirelessly for the benefit of motorcycling overall, with the presentation of the following four very important FIM Awards.

The FIM Environmental Award was won by Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, whilst it was Motorcycle Clothing Assessment Program – Australasia who collected the FIM Road Safety Award on this occasion. The highly competitive FIM Women in Motorcycling Award, which received eight nominations this year, eventually went to MissBiker – Italy after much deliberation. Finally, the FIM Award for the Future was won by Hobby Sport – Primi Passi FMI – Italy.

Throughout the ceremony, the long list of prizes and awards were presented by a highly decorated group of true motorcycling legends. These included Max Biaggi – FIM Circuit Tacing Legend; Joël Robert – FIM Motocross Legend; Juha Salminen – FIM Enduro Legend; Carmelo Ezpeleta – FIM Promoter Legend; Rob Rasor – FIM Family Legend; and Guy Maitre – FIM Family Legend, who were all recognised for their own contributions.

Both proud and delighted to have hosted this memorable evening, FIM President Jorge Viegas remarked: “ It has been a wonderful night. Having the chance to have all the World Champions together with Promoters and the FIM Family is very special. The riders made huge efforts during the whole season; they are here tonight and we are very happy.

Vagabond Tours Accepts Two Top Awards

Vagabond Small Group Tours of Ireland is no stranger to accepting awards. In early February the company received not one but two 2019 Irish Tourism Industry Awards presented Feb. 2 at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin.

These awards recognize those people and companies that create enhanced experiences to draw people to Ireland. Awards are granted across 15 categories for general initiatives such as accommodation and marketing, and regional specific awards for the Atlantic Way, Hidden Heartlands and Ancient East. Fifteen winners were chosen from among 75 shortlisted nominees. For more on the awards see http://www.irishtourismindustryawards.ie/

Vagabond Small Group Tours of Ireland’s 6 Day Ancient Ireland Tour won in the category Best Ireland’s Ancient East Tourism Experience, under 25,000 visitors. “We introduced this tour in 2018 to help answer the question, “Who are the Irish?” explained Rob Rankin, co-owner with his wife, Amy Rankin. In their imaginations guests burrow into bogs, scale crenellated towers and shimmy up mountains for glimpses of Ireland beginning with Iron Age Celts sifted into Stone Age sands. Best Environmental Tourism Innovative went to Vagabond Tours of Ireland for environmental initiatives that in some instances have led to significant cost savings for the company while other initiatives are viewed as company investments that “we hope will have a long-term benefit to the environment,” said Rankin. These include:

  • Offsetting the company’s total annual carbon emissions and restoring Ireland’s lost woodlands with a program of replanting indigenous Irish hardwood trees.
  • Offering free compostable cups to guests to use in local coffee shops instead of non-recyclable cups.
  • Giving each guest an aluminum water bottle to use instead of single use plastic bottles, helping to eliminate an estimated 30,000 fewer plastic bottles per year in Ireland.

Vagabond’s staff curate locally owned accommodations, pubs and restaurants that help serve their goal of authenticity. In the end the mission is to have guests “love Ireland as much as we do.” Transport is in custom mini buses, Mercedes ‘Vagatrons’ or 4×4 Sprinters Newtrons that allows access beyond where regular tour buses go.
