Kylie Jenner Appears on Vogue Hong Kong Cover

By Elle Grant

In recent months, the metropole Hong Kong appears almost daily in news feeds: ongoing protests, clashes with Beijing, the impacts of the new security law, and more. This week, however, Hong Kong finds itself in the news with a less then predictable name: Kylie Jenner.

The 22-year-old makeup and reality television mogul graces Hong Kong Vogue’s self-titled “Action Issue.” She poses in cranberry latex with white hot nails with the text “Act Now” printed across her lap. While the imagery of the cover is elegant, many are calling into question the decision to have Jenner fronting the issue, citing the ongoing dynamics currently in Hong Kong. The cover reveal comes just two days after Hong Kong delays its election, in what many are calling an effort to support the growing pro-Beijing presence in the city and cripple pro-democracy candidates. Both revelations follow years of protests in favor of democracy, with heightened tensions over the last few months due to the coronavirus and a new national security law imposed at the end of June.

Vogue Hong Kong cites on Instagram: “At the age of just 22, her beauty brand #KylieCosmetics has achieved far reaching success, and she is also active in charitable causes including funding surgeries for children with cleft lips and palate through Smile Train” as its reasons behind making Jenner the cover star. Similarly, Jenner gushed about her excitement on her own Instagram, but made no reference to the current political situation in the region. The cover appears especially interesting in context of the September issue of Vogue U.K. which features 20 different activists photographed in black and white.

Diet Prada on Instagram, a notorious critic of the fashion community, writes “Y tho?” when questioning the “Kendall for Pepsi move.” The latter statement is in reference to Kylie’s older sister Kendall Jenner’s own brush with controversy. Severe backlash and accusations of political tone deafness followed her now infamous 2017 Pepsi ad. In the ad, Kendall Jenner hands a police officer a Pepsi at a protest, seemingly in reference to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests.

Comments, especially on social media, have called out Jenner and Vogue Hong Kong for the decision. “$5 she doesn’t even know what’s going on in Hong Kong,” joked one Instagram user. Another argued for criticism to be steered away from Jenner and instead towards the magazine: “How about you actually put an activist on the cover that stands for the message you’re trying to portray?” Currently, neither Vogue Hong Kong nor Kylie Jenner have commented on the criticism.

Kim K. Addresses Kanye

After the American public responded to Kanye West’s announcement to run for President in the upcoming election, Kim Kardashian West felt that it was necessary to speak out about her husband and address certain issues that she wants to communicate to the public. There has been a great deal of mixed rhetoric surrounding Kanye’s announcement to run for President, especially since many of his followers know he suffers from Bi-polar disorder and makes extremely controversial statements from time to time.

According to CNN Entertainment, through the use of Instagram stories, Kim expressed her perspective regarding Kanye, and proceeded to claim that he is a “brilliant but complicated” person. Although Kanye has been pretty open about his mental health in the past, Kim and others close to him have spoken up about how he should receive any mental health support he needs. In short, Kim publicized her thoughts and comments about Kanye to those who follow his actions in order to gain “compassion and empathy” on his part.

Kanye West Running For President?

By Eamonn Burke

Megastar musician Kanye West tweeted yesterday, July 4th, that he will be running for President in 2020. The announcement came with a call to action:

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future.”

The tweet, coming just months before the election, received support from prominent figures, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, entrepreneur Mark Cuban, and Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian.

Kanye, an avid Trump supporter, has teased at a possible run for president over many years, both in 2020 and 2024, but there is still no explicit evidence that he truly plans to run this year. Like his would-be opponent, President Trump, Kanye is known to make unfounded statements. As far as we know, Kanye has not registered his name yet. Another important factor is that of the candidate filing deadline, which Kanye has missed in many states, making him unable to appear on a ballot. However, he still has time to register as an independent in many key states like Pennsylvania and Michigan.

If Kanye really does run as an independent, it could shake up the projected votes for the November 3rd election.

About ONCH:

Los Angeles-based Onch is the creative force behind the “ONCH” brand (previously known as Onch Movement), designing ‘wearable art’ for a discerning VIP client list that includes Kate Moss, Kim Kardashian, and Nicki Minaj, who famously rocked her Onch Rainbow Ice Cream Cone Necklace to accept the VMA for Best Rapper of the Year, and introduced the Pink Fried Chicken Wing Necklace at the iHeart Radio concert.

Onch’s career originally kicked off back when supermodel Moss was spotted out and about wearing his Bloody Razor Blade Necklace in L.A., before the designer was even old enough to buy booze legally. Following that illustrious intro, the fresh-faced fashion phenomenon was asked to provide the accessories for Heatherette’s LA Fashion Week show. He subsequently launched his long-term relationship with cult favorite Hello Kitty, which culminated in his recent role as designer for the brand’s first collection at Forever21, The Hello Kitty Forever jewelry collection. Hasbro, the global play and entertainment company, has also enlisted the edgy designer to bring some of their most beloved brands to life, choosing him for their very first jewelry collaborations for Mr. Potato Head and My Little Pony, not to mention asking Onch to create a 30 inch, not-so ‘Little Pony,’ currently touring the world at different toy conventions.

The trend-setter whose work was even featured in a bio-technology textbook and Italian Vogue has also made headlines for his more daring and unique designs, from his “Meat-Lace” meat necklace which was featured by the New York Post, Los Angeles Times, Huffington Post, In Touch Magazine, and Ripley’s Believe It or Not. In 2015, ONCH brand launched successful collaborations with DreamWorks Animation, Sanrio, Pokemon and Delias. As the featured artist for the 2016 LA Pride parade, West Hollywood’s annual LGBTQ+ pride event, Onch created the giant “LA PRIDE Building BLOCKS” art installation which was one of the most “Instagrammable” moments of the event. In Fall of 2016, Ford Motor Company asked ONCH to design a tiny home, dubbed a “Fungalow,” to help promote the launch of their new Ford Ecosport. In the Spring/Summer of 2019, six pieces featuring ONCH designs were on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NY) for the exhibition CAMP: Notes on fashion.

Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project

Oxygen, the home for quality true-crime programming, debuts a compelling two-hour documentary, “Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project,” on Sunday, April 5, at 7pm ET/PT.

With 2.2 million men and women behind bars in the United States, more than any other country, Kim Kardashian West is making it her personal mission to address the criminal reform crisis and make an impactful change. This documentary is an inside look at Kim’s efforts to secure freedom for Americans who she believes have been wronged by the justice system.

In Oxygen’s two-hour documentary “Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project,” after hearing the story of Alice Marie Johnson, a great-grandmother serving a life-plus-25-year sentence as a first-time nonviolent offender, Kim Kardashian West embarked on a road to advocacy as she campaigned for criminal justice reform and helped convince the White House to grant Alice clemency in June 2018.

The show captures Kim as she lends a hand to right injustices and advocate for change by exploring the cases of Dawn Jackson, Alexis Martin, Momolu Stewart and David Sheppard, all of whom she and the legal experts she is working alongside believe have been unfairly sentenced. The documentary follows the origins of their individual stories, revealing the devastating circumstances that led them to take the actions that changed their lives forever.

In her crusade to shed light on the criminal justice system and help people who are impacted by incarceration, Kim travels to the prisons, speaks to the families and friends, lobbies public officials, and consults with lawyers as well as her own legal team from #cut50 to develop strategies to facilitate their release. Along the way, the film documents the progress that led to Momolu Stewart’s and David Sheppard’s releases. It also highlights Kim’s growing understanding of mandatory sentencing, the damaging problems of mass incarceration, and the importance of educational programs and rehabilitation efforts for a successful reentry into society.

Kanye West – New Original Opera ‘MARY’

KANYE WEST TO STAGE NEW ORIGINAL OPERA ‘MARY’ THIS SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8TH IN MIAMI

DIRECTED BY VANESSA BEECROFT, NEW OPERA FOLLOWS ‘SOULFUL, SPIRITUAL’ OPERA DEBUT, NEBUCHADNEZZAR

On Sunday, December 8th, Kanye West will debut the new original opera Mary at the Miami Marine Stadium. The opera, directed by Vanessa Beecroft, follows on the heels of Nebuchadnezzar, West’s first opera, which premiered last month at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. For West, opera is a new medium through which to express his commitment to faith and his ever-expanding musical and visual palette.

Mary is an original opera, based on the biblical story of the miraculous events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ. The Books of Matthew and Luke recount the story of Mary, who was divinely chosen by God to bring forth the Messiah.

West’s Mary brings together elements from different worlds – including opera, fine art, modern dance, and gospel music – to create a new visual interpretation and innovative performance structure. Mary is performed by the Sunday Service collective, a ministry formed in January of 2019, in collaboration with Access Opera. With the Sunday Service Collective working alongside a cast of professional opera singers,Mary represents an innovative interpretation of West’s own music, gospel standards, and traditional opera alike.

KANYE WEST TO DEBUT NEW OPERA ‘NEBUCHADNEZZAR’ AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24

DIRECTED BY VANESSA BEECROFT, WITH MUSIC BY SUNDAY SERVICE, PETER COLLINS & INFINITY’S SONG

On Sunday, November 24thKanye West will debut the new opera ‘Nebuchadnezzar’ live at the Hollywood Bowl. The opera, directed by Vanessa Beecroft, will feature the Sunday Service collective, as well as singer Peter Collins and the group Infinity’s Song.

Nebuchadnezzar is an original opera, based on the biblical story of the Babylonian King from the Book of Daniel. Set in the 6th century BC, the Book of Daniel recounts Nebuchadnezzar’s transition from wicked, imperious, self-declared ruler to a true believer who finds salvation in his faith.

West conceived of this opera as an expression of his commitment to both his faith and ever-expanding musical palette. Nebuchadnezzar brings together elements from different worlds, including opera, fine art, modern dance, and gospel music, to create an innovative performance structure. West’s sound is the bridge between these artforms.

Vanessa Beecroft’s work has been shown internationally since 1993 and often presents social commentary and critique. She is best known for her conceptual performance art, which often references the historical and political associations of the place in which the installation is held. Since 2008, Vanessa has collaborated extensively with Kanye West.

Hydrolon Loose Powder

Kim Kardashian uses “organic Botox powder”

Huge hype about a cosmetic revolution

The tip came from her sister Kylie. Mario Dedivanovic, make-up artist of Kim, reports on a new cosmetic revolution in the current issue of Celebrities VIP and unleashes a new beauty craze:

Kim Kardashian uses an “organic Botox face powder” called: Hydrolon Loose Powder. This powder contains closed, micro-sized liquid pearls that open when applied to your face, allowing the active ingredient Biotulin to enter the skin. The active ingredient Biotulin is composed of Spilanthol, a local anaesthetic, which is obtained from the extract of the plant Acmella oleracea (paracress).

It reduces muscle contractions and relaxes facial features. Wrinkles are reduced, especially those around the eyes and between the eyebrows. The active ingredient Biotulin is known as the organic Botox.

“Kim has been using Hydrolon Loose Powder for more than 2 months as an alternative to Botox. She always has it in her handbag and uses the face powder two to three times a day,” so Mario Dedivanovic.
