Selena Gomez – De Una Vez (At Once)

Selena Gomez released her first Spanish language single in nearly a decade, “De Una Vez” (“At Once”). The song, released stateside via Interscope Records and UMG worldwide, is available HEREvia digital platforms.

Embracing her heritage as a proud Latina, Gomez wanted to immerse herself in the culture and it was important to her to join forces with some of the industry’s most influential Latin creators in order to communicate the purest vision possible. To bring the track to life, she teamed up with multi-Latin Grammy® Award-winner and powerhouse producer Tainy [Bad Bunny, J Balvin] joined by Albert Hype, Jota Rosa and NEON16. Additionally, she enlisted the duo of Los PérezTania Verduzco and Adrián Pérez—to direct the accompanying music video.

Mirroring the song’s themes of personal healing, empowerment, and love, the visual metaphorically depicts Selena’s personal and creative growth in a mythical house. Surrounded by magical realism visuals, she steps into rooms representative of her evolution and reflected in stunning visual effects like a dream in motion. Additionally, her vocals take center stage, amplifying the power of this anthem.

About “De Una Vez, Selena commented, “I am incredibly proud of my Latin background.  It felt empowering to sing in Spanish again and ‘De Una Vez’ is such a beautiful love anthem.”

Renowned as a global superstar, actress, executive producer, and social activist, Selena remains a powerful voice in Latin culture as well. The Latin Recording Academy ® recently honored her among 2020’s “Leading Ladies of Entertainment.” She also garnered the “Arts Award” at the 33rd Hispanic Heritage Awards last year.

Off her latest album RARE, Gomez earned her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the single “Lose You To Love Me,” and the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. “Lose You To Love Me” became her fastest-ever platinum seller and has over 1.6 billion cumulative global streams. Her recent collaboration with K-POP group BLACKPINK on “Ice Cream” peaked No. 2 on Billboard Global 200 and No. 6 on Billboard Global Excl. US. In 2020, Gomez launched her anticipated beauty line RARE Beauty exclusively with Sephora in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. As part of the partnership, Gomez launched the RARE Impact Fund, pledging to raise $100 million for mental health services for individuals in underserved communities.

Last year, Selena Gomez produced and released a cooking show in partnership with HBO Max, Selena + Chef, which premiered its second season on January 21, 2020. In addition, Gomez is executive producing and starring opposite Steve Martin and Martin Short in the Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building.

The Young Bombs Show curtsey of MacKenzie Reynolds

YOUNG BOMBS “WRONG SIDE OF LOVE” VIDEO

Today, Young Bombs shared the official video for their wistful, country-tinged single featuring three-time GRAMMY Award winner Darius Rucker called “Wrong Side of Love.” The song, described by ABC News Radio as “a brooding ode to a doomed love story, set to a catchy and dance-able beat,” has racked up over one million global streams since its release.

Directed by Conan Jurek Karpinski and produced by Andrew Dixon, the amusing clip sees the Canadian duo embark on a journey to see their favorite country superstar—none other than the legendary Darius Rucker—in concert. With a few fellow quirky Rucker fans in tow, Martin and Tristan set their sights on Nashville only to find that the Canadian border has been closed. It’s only fitting that what would follow this disastrous road trip is a dance party in the wilderness with Bigfoot—who happens to be just as big of a Rucker fan as Young Bombs themselves. View the video HERE.

Built around Rucker’s honeyed croon, “Wrong Side of Love” is the final single from the duo’s debut EP, The Young Bombs Show, also out now on Astralwerks. Listen to the song HERE and the EP HERE. The set gathers a string of singles that have established the duo as among the dance-pop world’s most vibrant and versatile producers, including the openhearted “Better Day” with Aloe Blacc and the swooning, optimistic “Starry Eyes.”

“Wrong Side of Love” shows off Young Bombs at their most emotional, lending a textured arrangement to Rucker’s poignant pining for a lover who’s fallen “right back in somebody else’s arms.” The song starts with roiling pianos and other homey instrumentation that might feel familiar to fans of Rucker’s country singles, but from there the song soars. Rucker moves beyond his pain into anthemic whoa-ohs as the track ascends into a synthy daydream.

It’s a different look for the duo, but “Wrong Side of Love” is a brilliant capstone to the run of singles that make up The Young Bombs Show. Young Bombs first came to widespread acclaim as esteemed remixers, sharing upwards of 50 beloved reworks of tracks for artists like Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, and Billie Eilish, among others. Since 2019, they’ve applied the same lively production to their own original tracks, which has resulted in the colorful singles on their new EP, spanning from heavenly bangers like “Starry Eyes” to more sensitive, stirring tracks like the Robinson-featuring “High Road.” As these songs have traveled, so has the duo. In recent years, they’ve played Lollapalooza, Ultra, Firefly Music Festival, and the Billboard Hot 100 Festival. They’ve also shared the stage with dance music luminaries like the Chainsmokers, Alesso, Galantis, and Diplo.

The Young Bombs Show tracklist:

  1. Wrong Side Of Love (feat. Darius Rucker)
  2. Better Day (feat. Aloe Blacc)
  3. Loyal (feat. GiGi)
  4. Don’t Let Them
  5. Starry Eyes
  6. High Road (feat. Robinson)

About Young Bombs:

In 2019, Young Bombs make the bold leap from sought-after remixers to artists. That leap remains driven by a personal and creative chemistry forged way back in the Vancouver high school where they became best friends. With nearly 100 million streams in four years, the duo of Martin and Tristan cooked up 53 remixes by 2018. Along the way, they lent their talents to everyone from Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez, and Lady Gaga to Billie Eilish, Alessia Cara, Post Malone, Khalid, and Bazzi.

In addition, they attracted the support of Tiësto, Kygo, and Don Diablo. Simultaneously, they graced the stages of blockbuster festivals such as Lollapalooza, Ultra, Firefly Music Festival, and the Billboard Hot 100 Festival. Not to mention, Young Bombs supported The Chainsmokers, Galantis, Diplo, and Alesso on tour around the globe and launched a coveted residency at Drai’s Beachclub in Vancouver. The upbeat and undeniable anthem “Starry Eyes,” their debut Astralwerks single, introduced a musicianship-centric style reliant on real instrumentation and genre-less creativity, shining a bright light on the future.

About Darius Rucker:

Rucker first achieved multi-Platinum status in the music industry as lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the GRAMMY Award-winning band Hootie & the Blowfish. Since releasing his first Country album in 2008, he’s earned a whole new legion of fans with four No. 1 albums on the Billboard Country chart, including RIAA Platinum-certified Learn to Live and True Believers, plus nine No. 1 singles at Country radio. In 2014, Rucker won his third career GRAMMY Award for Best Solo Country Performance with his 8x Platinum version of Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel.” His latest single, “Beers And Sunshine,” was written via a Zoom session earlier this year and calls for slowing down to enjoy the simple things in life when the world feels out of control.

As a lifelong philanthropist, Rucker is a constant supporter of the MUSC Children’s Hospital in his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina. He has also raised millions of dollars for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through his annual Darius & Friends benefit concert and golf tournament, as well as for more than 200 charitable causes supporting public education and junior golf programs in South Carolina through the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation. Rucker spent 2019 on the road with his Hootie & the Blowfish bandmates for the Group Therapy Tour as they celebrated the 25th anniversary of generation-defining smash Cracked Rear View in addition to the November 1 release of Imperfect Circle, their first album in nearly 15 years.

HHF × JOHN LEWIS

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) today announced that the late U.S. Representative and Civil Rights Leader John Lewis will be honored with a special Recognition as an Ally for his work in fighting for justice and equality for all communities including Latinos through a tribute musical performance during the October 6th PBS broadcast of the 33rd Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards.

“The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is proud to recognize the legacy of our compadre John Lewis, a true champion of civil rights for all our communities,” said Jose Antonio Tijerino, President & CEO of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. “The Congressman was a passionate friend and champion of the Latino community through his courage, morality, decency, fire, action and collaboration for justice and human rights. He was ready to speak – no, shout – on behalf of the voiceless or the ignored including the immigrant community. The Congressman indefatigably supported Latinos by fighting for comprehensive immigration reform, denouncing family separations, and trying to ensure our right to vote. The Congressman will continue to serve as an inspiration to anyone who is in la lucha for justice and how our communities can make an even bigger impact when we work together.”

The Hispanic Heritage Awards are among the highest honors by Latinos for Latinos and are considered “America’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration” after being established in 1988 to commemorate the creation of Hispanic Heritage Month in America by the White House.  Linda Ronstadt (Legend), Bad Bunny (Vision), Selena Gomez (Arts), Jessica Alba (Business), and America’s essential farmworkers (Heroes) will be awarded.

“The Congressional Black Caucus is known as the ‘Conscience of the Congress’ but John Lewis was known as the conscience of our caucus,” said Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman Karen Bass (D-CA). “One of the greatest honors of serving in Congress was that I had the possibility of serving with him. His legacy to our country is that he devoted his life fighting racism and injustice wherever he confronted it, from boycotts, sit-ins, to protests in the streets, to championing bold, progressive policies in Congress including the Voting Rights Act, and being a moral compass. Mr. Lewis also led the effort to build the African American History Museum and when we visit the museum, this is another opportunity for us to always remember him and what he stood for. Now that he is no longer with us, we have to live up to his legacy and protect the right to vote for all Americans. As we continue to face the challenges due to coronavirus, we must protect our democracy even in the midst of adversity. Most especially in this election.”

John Lewis was an iconic civil rights leader who served in the U.S. House of Representatives for Georgia’s 5th congressional district from 1987 until his passing on July 17th in 2020.  He was also the chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) 1963 – 1966.

Mr. Lewis was one of the “Big Six” leaders of groups who organized the 1963 March on Washington. He fulfilled many key roles in the civil rights movement and its actions to end legalized racial segregation in the United States. In 1965, Mr. Lewis led the first of three Selma to Montgomery marches across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. In an incident which became known as Bloody Sunday, state troopers and police attacked the marchers, including Mr. Lewis. He was a leader of the Democratic Party in the U.S. House of Representatives, serving from 1991 as a Chief Deputy Whip and from 2003 as Senior Chief Deputy Whip. Mr. Lewis received many honorary degrees and awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

FLETCHER and Trevor Daniel featured by 360 Magazine

FLETCHER’s Bitter New Single

Today, the American singer and songwriter FLETCHER brings the music world her new single “Bitter”; the song is a collaboration with Billboard charting artist Trevor Daniel and was produced by DJ and producer Kito. Released through Capitol Records, the single is a standout track from FLETCHER’s acclaimed new EP, THE S(EX) TAPES. The album was leaked only two weeks ago and hit number one on iTunes across every genre.

The new single already has 30 million global streams to date and focuses on FLETCHER’s sharp, intricate lyrics and mesmerizing vocals. The song’s addition of Trevor Daniel amplifies the track’s raw emotions. Daniel, an artist originally from Houston, is known for his multi-platinum hit Falling and recent single “Past Life” with Selena Gomez.

This single is a breakthrough for FLETCHER because this single marks the first time she’s ever decided to collaborate with a male artist. This decision coincides with her belief in using her creative output as a way to explore herself, her sexuality and the world around her.

“Trevor and I slid into each other’s DMs about being fans of one another. He’s such a visionary artist and I jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with him.” FLETCHER commented in a press release. “Trevor was able to bring a whole new perspective to the song and I guess we’re both still Bitter about our exes.”

FLETCHER has always created a diverse and inclusive space for creation and she channeled this with the creation of her music video for “Bitter.” The video was written, produced, and directed by female director Brooke James. A crew of women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community helped edit the video.

In the cinematic creation of “Bitter,” FLETCHER is shown in a control room replaying surveillance camera footage of strangers in a hotel who are unaware of the cameras. Daniel co-stars in the video and model and artist Mads Paige is also featured. Each of the three characters in the “Bitter” video are seen having individual journeys of exploration, identity, loss and healing while all of their stories overlap. The video is loosely inspired by the erotic thriller Sliver; however, FLETCHER switches the original gender roles of the film. This change adds a new dimension of sexual representation, rawness and attraction to the song’s narrative of emotional recovery and sexual exploration.

“Throughout the video, I wanted to explore the themes of masculine and feminine energy in terms of self-discovery. It is about the fear of knowing you need to go out and explore the world and your relationship with yourself, but being afraid that your person will find somebody new in the process,” explained FLETCHER. “I’ve never understood the saying if you love something, let it go until now. That’s life though. It’s petty, it’s Bitter it’s true and sometimes the truth has to hurt.”

THE S(EX) TAPES EP is An unfiltered look into FLETCHER’s world and shows her personal expression. The collection of magnetic and moody pop songs are all about feeling like you’ve found your forever person but without discovering yourself first. She plays on the feeling of needing to find out more about yourself before giving your all to somebody else.

Since its debut in September, FLETCHER’s EP has already earned critical acclaim from a variety of outlets. like Nylon Magazine praised THE S(EX) TAPES as “perfectly messy pop” and Spin noted, “there aren’t any rules when it comes to FLETCHER’s music.” THE S(EX) TAPES is “bawdy and brilliant, a welcome injection of chaos and funk into the pop landscape,” according to Paper Magazine. The EP was executive-produced by Malay who has also worked with icons such as Lorde and Frank Ocean and was co-written by FLETCHER and her girl gang of songwriters including Caroline Ailin, Emily Warren, Mozella, Jennifer Decilveo, Ilsey Juber, and more.

Selena Gomez to Receive the ARTS Award

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) announced today that chart-topping recording artist, actress, film producer and social activist SELENA GOMEZ will receive the ARTS Award during the October 6th PBS broadcast of the 33rd Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards. Selena Gomez will join Bad Bunny (Vision Award), Jessica Alba (Business Award), and America’s essential farmworkers (Heroes Award) on the telecast, with additional Honorees and performers set to be announced over the upcoming weeks.

“The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is thrilled to recognize Selena Gomez with the Arts Award for her impact on American and global culture through her music, movies but also for her courage as an advocate for mental health,” said Jose Antonio Tijerino, President and CEO of HHF.  “There’s power in vulnerability and Selena has made it okay to talk about difficult issues we all deal with, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Selena is a role model for so many for so many reasons.  We are proud to highlight her inspiring story through the Hispanic Heritage Awards.”

Selling more than 145 million singles worldwide and over 25 billion global streams it’s safe to say Selena has achieved great success as a recording artist.

“Lose You to Love Me,” the first single off her critically acclaimed album “Rare,” available via Interscope Records, marked a historic moment for the singer as she landed her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album debuted at the top of the charts; her third consecutive album to debut at No.1 on the Billboard Album chart.  Praise for the album was immediate with Variety proclaimed  “Rare is one of the best pop albums in recent memory” and Time called it a “pop gift” while Rolling Stone raved calling it “an act of divine ruthlessness.”  In 2017, Gomez was named Billboard’s “Woman of the Year.” Gomez recently collaborated with K-pop sensation BLACKPINK on the new hit single “Ice Cream” and this week launched her much anticipated cosmetics line “Rare Beauty.”

On the big screen, Selena Gomez began making the transition from young actress to adulthood with the much talked about Harmony Korine’s “Spring Breakers.”   The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival to critical acclaim while Gomez’s performance was singled out as a “breakout.”  She appeared in the Academy Award nominated film “The Big Short” opposite Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling as well as “Fundamentals of Caring” alongside Paul Rudd.  The later film premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and Gomez was named by Vulture.com as one of “The 20 Best Performances of Sundance 2016.“  Other credits include:  “Rudderless,” “Neighbors 2” and the James Franco directed “In Dubious Battle.”  Most, recently, Gomez was seen opposite Bill Murray and Adam Driver in “The Dead Don’t Die” directed by Jim Jarmusch.  The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

Selena has added executive producer to her impressive list of credits serving as an executive producer of the hit Netflix original series “13 Reasons Why.”  Gomez has used her platform to speak out on social causes throughout her career and this was evident when Gomez executive produced the critically acclaimed Netflix docu-series “Living Undocumented” which created much buzz and discussion regarding the polarizing issue of undocumented people living in the United States.  In addition, Selena serves as executive producer of the upcoming feature film “Broken Hearts Gallery” for Sony and the new HBO Max cooking show “Selena + Chef.” Next up, Gomez will executive produce and star opposite Steve Martin and Martin Short in the Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building”.
