Bea Miller – wisdom teeth

Bea Miller has released her new song wisdom teeth today, her first new music of the year. On the lush new track, Miller meditates on the lost innocence of her childhood as she recalls a time when she was four years old, staring at herself in the mirror in her tutu during her dance recital. Over the bouncy synths, she sings, I used to be so happy/No matter what happened to me/But when they pulled my teeth out /Lost the wisest part.

Listen to wisdom teeth here and view the official video, which had its broadcast premiere on MTV Live and MTVU and was directed by Gina Gizella, here.

In tandem with today’s release, Bea Miller has also announced that her new EP, elated!, will be released on October 23. With elated!, Bea sought to make her most honest body of work yet and gets even more personal and political while remaining as ferocious as ever. The new EP will feature wisdom teeth and several new tracks. More details, including the EP’s track listing, will be revealed soon.

In addition to releasing new music, Bea will return to the stage next weekend performing from Los Angeles’Teragram Ballroom for Save Our Stages#SOSFEST, a three day virtual festival (Oct. 16-18) from YouTube Music and the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) to help save independent venues across the U.S. #SOSFEST will stream live on NIVA’s official YouTube channel here with Bea’s set simultaneously streaming on her YouTube Channel here

Nio García × Casper Mágico – “Now or Never” Hits Big

Nio García and Casper Mágico have taken over the Billboard charts with their first album together, “Now or Never,” which premiered this July 24th. The set of eighteen songs debuted on four Billboard charts, including two in the general market.

During its first week on the charts, “Now or Never” placed in the #5 position on Top Latin Albums, #4 on Latin Rhythm albums, #22 on Independent Albums, and #136 on the Billboard 200. It’s important to point out that this is the first time both Puerto Rican artists have conquered the prestigious Billboard charts together with one album.

“Estar posicionado con nuestro álbum entre los mejores del momento es una bendición para nosotros ya que con mucho sacrificio lo logramos. Entrar a los charts de Billboard es una de las mejores recompensas y por eso, le damos las gracias a todos los fanáticos que han apoyando nuestro proyecto y a nuestro equipo de trabajo por hacer todo esto posible,” (“To be positioned with our album among the best of this time is an honor for us that was achieved with much sacrifice. To enter the Billboard charts is one of the biggest rewards, and for this we give thanks to the fans who have supported our project, and to our team for the work they do to make this possible,”) commented Nio and Casper.

“Now or Never” is the materialization of a dream into reality and the work of a team that García y Casper Mágico have attained, accompanied by their record label Flow La Movie INC. The album includes global successes like “Te boté remix” (Nio García, Casper Mágico, Darell, Nicky Jam, Bad Bunny, and Ozuna) and the smash hit “La Jeepeta Remix” by Nio García together with Anuel AA, Myke Towers, Brray, and Juanka, tracks that remain “trending” today on the social media network TikTok. “Sola y vacía” and “Llamé pa´verte” also form part of this successful album, which contains collaborations with both performers together with Anuel AA, Arcángel, De La Ghetto, Rauw Alejandro, Jowell, and Randy, among others.

Jhené Aiko’s Chilombo Success

Jhené Aiko’s blockbuster album CHILOMBO re-asserts its claim to the title of R&B album of the year this week, as the deluxe edition powers the album to over 46,000 new units. CHILOMBO re-enters the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 at #6, and reclaims the #1 spot on the Billboard R&B albums chart.

CHILOMBO DELUXE adds nine previously unreleased bonus tracks and remixes to the original 20-track album – including the new single “Summer 2020” – with new guest features from Kehlani, Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, Mila J and Wiz Khalifa. Check out the in-depth cover-story profile of Jhené in the new issue of HITS magazine.

Chilombo (released in March) entered the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart at #1, and the Billboard 200 album chart at #2.  Over 170 million first week streams ranked it as the biggest album debut in four years from a female R&B artist (since Beyoncé’s Lemonade in April 2016), and the biggest album debut of Jhené’s career.

Chilombo arrived on the strength of its five massive advance tracks, with cumulative streams over 700 million to date.  They comprise: “B.S.”  (featuring H.E.R.), “Triggered (Freestyle),” “None Of Your Concern” (featuring Big Sean), “Pu$$y Fairy (OTW),” and “Happiness Over Everything (H.O.E.)” (feat. Future and Miguel).  The visual for another album track premiered in May, “Magic Hour.” The momentum continues to build with the release of “Summer 2020.”

Chilombo proclaims the artist’s full name, Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo, as it celebrates her coming into her own personal power. The initial jam sessions where she freestyled the lyrics to each song, took place on  where Jhené’s great grandmother was born. Jhené was inspired by the beauty and power of the island’s volcanoes, having visited throughout the years. Chilombo means wild beast. The volcano is symbolic of the beautiful, yet powerful beast. Jhené Aiko is Chilombo. In contrast to her 2017 album, Trip, which intricately detailed the process of grieving, Chilombo finds Jhené embracing her strength and power, coming into her confidence as a woman, a creator and a healer. She has always embraced magic in her particular brand of soulful, trippy, ethereal R&B, but now on Chilombo she has taken it all to another level.

THE MAGIC HOUR, Jhené’s highly-anticipated 32-city North American tour with special guest Queen Naija, originally scheduled for May-June, will be rescheduled. Special merch and digital album bundles are available at Jhené’s official D2C store.

Trippie Redd Excitement Visual

Trippie Redd – Excitement

Trippie Redd surprises fans with a music video for “Excitement,” his May 2020 released single featuring PARTYNEXTDOOR. The follow up to A Love Letter To You 4 – his first album to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart – “Excitement” is dramatic and sensual, featuring PARTYNEXTDOOR’s irresistibly dark R&B vocals. In the Aidan Cullen directed music video, Trippie and PARTYNEXTDOOR are stuck in a dystopian, psychedelic world, trapped on a boat in the middle of the ocean as Trippie struggles to escape. WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO HERE.

One of the most versatile and creatively daring artists in hip-hop today, platinum-selling rapper/singer/songwriter Trippie Redd has landed four albums in the top 10 in just three years’ time. With the November 2019 release of A Love Letter To You 4—his first-ever album to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart—Trippie offered up his most dynamic body of work to date, delivering a 21-track effort that amassed over 125.9 million streams in its first week alone. With his penetrating lyrics and nuanced but hard-hitting vocal performance, the 21-year-old Ohio native continually defies genre boundaries, embedding his melodic take on rap with elements of rock-and-roll and heavy metal to ultimately create a sound that’s wildly experimental yet massively appealing.

As he recalls, the urge to create his own music arose soon after his older brother (an aspiring rapper who went by the name Dirty Redd) died in a car accident when Trippie was 10. (“I took his dream and did it myself,” Trippie says now.) Drawing much of his inspiration from the free-flowing style and inventive lyricism of Lil Wayne, Trippie began recording in his cousin’s basement and later relocated to Atlanta to further hone his skills, quickly landing a record deal with 10K Projects in 2017.
