George O’Hanlon – The Weight

Singer-songwriter George O’Hanlon released his new single, “The Weight” on Harvest Records. Listen HERE.

Following on from his acclaimed debut single, “The Storm,” “The Weight” is an intense, slow burning piece of music, comprising an elegant guitar refrain, evocative strings and centered on George’s powerful vocal. It’s a song with a real emotional depth which draws the listener in.

“‘The Weight’ is a song about trying to be there for someone even if you’re not around and haven’t been for a while” George elaborates. “Or it’s about falling out of love with someone but wanting to stay with them because of the good parts of the relationship. Or it’s about falling in love with someone but you’re not sure they feel the same way back. Or it’s about none of those things or maybe all of them.”

The release of the single coincides with George’s debut Mahogany session. Featuring stripped back performances of both “The Storm” and “The Weight,” the session is a brilliant showcase of George’s power as a live performer.

Even though O’Hanlon is still only just starting out he’s already picking up early support from the likes of Abi McMcarthy at BBC Introducing and Jack Saunders at Radio 1.

Inspired by the likes of Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley and Thom Yorke, O’Hanlon’s song-writing is both literary and deeply personal, incorporating his own life experiences into his work while framing them from different perspectives.

Over the last few years O’Hanlon has been refining his playing and songwriting and is now ready to share his music with the world. Following a few early gigs on the college circuit, George expanded out into a series of shows at grassroots venues, adding additional players to his live show and honing his live performance.

Given the sheer power of his music, O’Hanlon looks set to establish himself as an exciting new talent throughout 2021!

The Tragically Hip – Ouch

THE TRAGICALLY HIP PRESENT THE OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR OUCH STARRING JAY BARUCHEL, REBECCA-JO DUNHAM-BARUCHEL AND RICK MERCER,  WATCH OUCH HERE, NEW ALBUM, SASKADELPHIA, DEBUTS AT #1 ON THE BILLBOARD CANADIAN ALBUM CHART

The Tragically Hip release the official music video for Ouch, the lead single off their brand-new album, Saskadelphia. Watch Ouch HERE.

A Revolver Films production, the music video was produced by Craig Fleming, directed by Sara Basso and stars actor and director Jay Baruchel [Goon: Last of the Enforcers, This Is The End], Rebecca-Jo Dunham-Baruchel and comedian and television personality Rick Mercer [The Rick Mercer Report, Made In Canada].  The video, inspired by “Twin Peaks” and “From Dusk Till Dawn,” is in part a love letter to the period when the band’s sophomore album, Road Apples (1991), was released- a nostalgic throwback to music videos of the early 1990s.

Set in the fictional town of Saskadelphia we meet a rebel on the run played by Jay Baruchel outside of The Clubhouse, a seedy bar reminiscent of one you might have found deep in the swamps of New Orleans. Inside the bar Baruchel is greeted by the stares of bartender (wife Rebecca-Jo Dunham-Baruchel) and a lone patron (Rick Mercer). From the moment Baruchel locks eyes with Mercer and Dunham-Baruchel, his character’s demise seems inevitable as the audience is greeted with the opening lines of the song.

I wanted the video to be something that long-time fans of The Tragically Hip would appreciate but also create intrigue for a younger audience to connect with the historic moment when a small town Canadian band flipped everything on its head and got the whole world listening. Basso notes. The track has a rebellious and audacious tone, which I felt required an off-beat narrative; a tongue-in-cheek thriller, contemporary, with nods to 30 years ago.

Jay Baruchel says, The first concert I ever went to was The Tragically Hip at what used to be called the Molson Centre (now the Bell Centre) in Montreal, when I was in the eleventh grade. From well before that night, right on up to here, I can’t remember a time where The Tragically Hip weren’t part of the vital, every day soundtrack of my life. He continued, Not every country has a band, but Canada does, and it’s The Tragically Hip. Getting to be in a video for one of said songs, with my wife (Dunham-Baruchel) and Rick Mercer to boot, is nothing short of a once in a lifetime moment.

Then came Rick Mercer, whose history with the band runs deep. In the 1990s the television host somehow managed to get the rights to The Tragically Hip’s Blow At High Dough for his show Made In Canada. On being tapped to star in the video, Mercer said, In show business, there are calls you think are impossible to receive and calls you do not say no to. Getting called to be in a new video for The Tragically Hip qualifies on both fronts. As a long-time fan, I love the new material and I was honoured to make an appearance.

Dunham-Baruchel added, Like most Canadians, The Tragically Hip have softly played in the background of so many defining moments in my life. I imagine this song will become a piece of the Canadian soundscape and play across the lakes and cities of our country all summer long. To be a part of something they created is very special and I’m grateful for the opportunity.

Over 30 Easter eggs have been planted throughout the video for fans to connect with The Tragically Hip’s mythos. Viewers are encouraged to identify these subtle nods to the band’s storied history, and share their findings in the comments across the band’s social platforms.

Ouch is the first single off the new album Saskadelphia (Universal Music Canada/UMe) which is made up of six previously unreleased tracks written in 1990. Since its surprise release on Friday, May 21, Saskadelphia has had instant success among fans and critics. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Canadian Album chart in Canada and reached total overall sales of 12,410. At radio lead single Ouch claimed the #1 Most Added title at Mediabase Active and Alternative formats and #1 Most Added at Nielsen BDS Rock. The album received 2 million-plus listeners across radio over the weekend in Canada.

See The Tragically Hip in a rare performance with Feist at The 50th Annual JUNO Awards, broadcast from Toronto this Sunday, June 6, 2021. They will also receive the 2021 Humanitarian Award Presented by Music Canada on the same night. Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees and rock icons, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush will present the band with the award.

EASY LIFE – LIFE’S A BEACH

EASY LIFE DEBUT ALBUM life’s a beach OUT NOW

easy life announced details of their much-anticipated debut album life’s a beach, which was to be released on Interscope Records on June 4, but is now available on all platforms (one week early)! In March, the album was teased by its powerful opening track a message to myself, and includes standout singles nightmares, daydreams, and more future-classics from the British five-piece, who won ‘Best New British Act’ at the 2020 NME Awards.

Receiving its first play on BBC Radio 1 today, a message to myself is easy life’s most candid and cathartic moment to date. A symphonic essay on depression – and a rallying call for self-love – the band worked on the track alongside world-class producer BEKON, whose credits include Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN and BJ The Chicago Kid’s In My Mind. One of modern pop’s more unsuspecting stars, a message to myself, says Easy Life front-man Murray, “is a reminder to keep doing you. It’s a celebration of individualism at all costs. Be yourself, nobody can do you better.”

2021 marks easy life’s graduation as the world’s definitive and most exciting band around. Over the last few years, the group have paved their own way via a catalogue bursting with introspective, escapist, outsider-anthems. Their effortlessly accomplished mixtapes – creature habits, spaceships, and junk food (which featured Arlo Parks, their only duet to date) – have led the rascal band of brothers to debut their album, life’s a beach: a title that makes total sense, argues Murray, when you’re “from slap bang in the middle of the country, geographically as far from the nearest seaside as possible.” The beach of life’s a beach is not, then, a Caribbean hideaway. Observational, universal and deeply personal, this rounded study of forgotten small towns is the record easy life have spent their young lives working towards. The fact they’re set to release their debut album as the world enjoys – hopefully – a safe return to the beach seems oddly fitting amidst their unpredictable rise to date.

A band formed right down to the name itself as an escape, songs like a message to myself cement easy life’s place in the world – as musicians, as young men, and as beacons of positivity. “All the lyrics and everything that you hear throughout all of easy life is stuff that has moved me to write it,” Murray comments on his source of inspiration. “When I feel really lonely and anxious and all these things that everybody always feels, my salvation from that angst and that paranoia is making music to get it out there… because if you hold onto it, I can drown in my own self-pity.

Murray also sums up their upcoming debut album – “it’s a record that wishes it was anywhere else but here, yet at the same time fixates on a dreary middle England existence.” This EP is about simple life and mundane existence, and there may be more rain on the way in their native Britain, but life’s a beach is easy life’s absolute moment in the sun.

Sarah McLachlan’s original song is famously featured in the Toy Story 2 soundtrack and won a GRAMMY Award for “Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.” It was also nominated for “Best Original Song” at Golden Globes and Academy Awards.

Of her cover, Lyn says, “I covered this song on TikTok about a year ago, and it blew up like crazy. I think over 400k videos were posted with my cover, and a ton of my followers were asking for me to put it on streaming platforms, so I did! It’s such a beautiful song and so pretty with the ukulele, and after a year it’s still just as pretty.”

Lyn recently released a cover of Billie Eilish’s “Your Power,” which resulted in a co-sign from the artist herself, who commented on the video: “this is so beautiful.” Watch the video HEREJungkook from BTS also recently added Lyn’s debut single “Producer Man” to his “Favorite Tracks” playlist on Spotify—see HERE.

“When She Loved Me” sets the stage for more new music to come from the 18-year-old singer and songwriter this summer. The cover follows her latest single “Itsy Bitsy” released earlier this year—watch the official video HERE. The song, a spin on the classic children’s nursery rhyme “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” illustrates Lyn’s rapid progression as a songwriter and artist. E! Online hailed it as “an exciting alt-pop release from a very promising new talent,” and Refinery29 praised it saying, “a classic nursery rhyme gets a haunting Gen-Z makeover.”

Lyn Lapid has affirmed herself as a star on the rise for 2021. “Producer Man” emerged as “the most-viewed unreleased demo on a TikTok video in 2020. The song morphed from a viral TikTok clip into a phenomenon, as the original demo eclipsed over 70 million views and 8 million likes on the app. To date, the official release—produced by Dan Nigro [Olivia Rodrigo, Conan Gray, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lewis Capaldi, Sky Ferreira, Empress Of]—has racked up over 40 million global streams and 6 million YouTube views on the music video. Attracting widespread tastemaker praise, Rolling Stone claimed, “The fully produced version evokes early Nineties coffee-house soul gussied up with modern drum programming and ghostly electronic harmonies, while Idolator rightfully predicted it “is certain to make big waves.

ABOUT LYN LAPID

YouTube renditions of everyone from Ariana Grande and Sabrina Claudio to Edith Piaf and Sarah McLachlan, amassing 34 million-plus views and counting on her channel. In late 2019, Lyn launched her TikTok page, building an audience of 3.8 million followers at a rapid pace. Meanwhile, a snippet of her first original, “Producer Man,” exploded. Almost Famous Expanded Soundtrack For July Release

Expanded Soundtrack Of ‘Almost Famous’ Set for Release July 9th

In a limited-edition uber box set, additional formats include 6LP super deluxe in black and colored vinyl, a 5CD super deluxe, a 2CD deluxe edition, original soundtrack on 2LP, and two Stillwater vinyl EPs.

“Look under your bed—it’ll set you free.” With those enticingly enigmatic words, an empathetic, hip older sister bequeaths to her hyper-smart but nerdy 11-year-old brother her Rosetta Stone to life in the late-’60s: a prized trove of expertly curated rock, pop, and folk albums that set into chaotic motion young William Miller’s eye- ear- and mind-opening journey in director Cameron Crowe’s quasi-autobiographical 2000 ode to rock ‘n’ roll fandom, Almost Famous.

Two decades later, the Oscar/BAFTA/Golden Globe Award-winning film remains one of the sweetest love letters to the genre, one that deftly captured the look, sound, feel, and attitude of what rock ‘n’ roll meant to its creators, its most fervent adherents, its hangers-on and its worried parents during a golden era of pop music. The movie’s legacy is celebrated with the first-ever release of all the music that so powerfully fueled Crowe’s story, based on his own power chord-driven odyssey from wide-eyed music-loving kid to respected rock journalist to celebrated filmmaker.

UMe has compiled multiple iterations of the film’s Grammy Award-winning soundtrack, augmented comprehensively in the limited-edition Uber Box set that encompasses an expanded soundtrack with five CDs, seven 180-gram black vinyl discs, and a brand new 7-inch for Stillwater’s “Fever Dog.” The expanded soundtrack includes songs from The Beach Boys, Joni Mitchell, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The Who, and Yes, plus all the songs created for the film’s fictional aspiring rock group Stillwater, most written for the movie by Cameron Crowe, Heart’s Nancy Wilson and Grammy Award-winning guitarist, Peter Frampton.

The Uber Box includes bonus items such as a 40-page photo book and memoir housed in a film-prop-replica of William Miller’s high-school notebook complete with writings by Cameron Crowe, Nancy Wilson, along with cast and crew members; the first-ever complete William Miller cover story on Stillwater as a 1973 Rolling Stone newsprint; two replica ticket stubs from Stillwater’s San Diego and Cleveland concerts; and a Stillwater tour poster. Exclusively available only in the Uber Boxset is a Stillwater Cleveland concert poster and a backstage poster; six film-prop-replica backstage passes (some seen throughout the film); three film-prop-replica business cards for Dick Roswell (Stillwater’s Road manager), Lester Bangs (Creem magazine), and Ben Fong-Torres (Rolling Stone magazine); and three photo prints of cast members.

Among the 103 audio tracks are numerous clips of dialogue released for the first time: including the promise from William’s sister Anita that “One day you’ll be cool,” and crackling exchanges between William and vaunted Creem magazine rock critic Lester Bangs, the real-life mentor who offered early encouragement to then-teenaged rock fan Crowe to pursue his desire to write about the music he loved.

The box set points out how exceptional the Almost Famous soundtrack was and remains. Crowe arranged for a dedicated remix & edit of the Who’s “Amazing Journey/Sparks” instrumental from their rock opera “Tommy” and live album “Live at Leeds.” For another scene, Crowe had grabbed a bootleg live recording out of his stash for Neil Young’s “Cortez the Killer” from a 1999 show, which Young recently unearthed from his extensive archive and newly mixed from the original multi-track analog tape for this release. The set is also highlighted with the inclusion of Elton John’s iconic “Tiny Dancer,” newly mixed with the cast members singing alongside the song as featured in the film.

Crowe found supremely qualified collaborators by drafting Wilson to compose the score and to team with Frampton to help write credible rock songs for Stillwater. For the new release of the soundtrack music, all of Wilson’s brilliant score music is included, along with 14 score outtakes that didn’t make the final film.

Along with the thirteen-disc Uber Deluxe box, Universal is issuing two six-LP editions—one on black vinyl, the other with colored vinyl discs; a five-CD Super Deluxe set including 102 tracks, 36 of them previously unreleased songs; a separate 12-inch vinyl EP with all 6 of Stillwater’s songs; a Record Store Day exclusive with the 7 original demos of the Stillwater songs, five performed by Wilson the other two by Frampton; a two-LP vinyl version of the original soundtrack album; a two-CD Deluxe Edition of the original soundtrack.

“We are extremely proud to revisit Almost Famous with a very special bounty of goodness,” said Cameron Crowe. “For the first time, we’ve created a Deluxe Soundtrack that features nearly every song from the film, along with Nancy Wilson’s wonderfully evocative score. We’re also thrilled to finally preserve both versions of the film, along with a collection of rare new bonus features, on these beautiful new 4K and Blu-ray releases as part of Paramount Presents.  Long live physical media!”

To complement the expanded soundtrack, Paramount Home Entertainment will release the film for the first time on 4K Ultra HD, in a limited-edition Steelbook, as well as in a new limited-edition Blu-ray in the Paramount Presents line on July 13, 2021. Meticulously remastered from a new 4K film transfer under the supervision of Cameron Crowe, Almost Famous is presented in stunning 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision® and HDR-10 for ultra-vivid picture quality.

The limited-edition 4K Ultra HD Steelbook includes both the original theatrical cut (plus access to a digital copy) and the beloved Bootleg cut (aka “Untitled”), along with new bonus content offering a backstage pass into the creative process through a new interview with Crowe, extended scenes, rock-school sessions, a look at the casting and costumes, and more. Almost Famous will also be available in a limited-edition Blu-ray Disc™ in the Paramount Presents line.  With collectible packaging featuring a foldout image of the film’s theatrical poster and an interior spread with key movie moments, the release includes the remastered versions of the theatrical cut for the first time on Blu-ray (plus access to a digital copy) and the Bootleg cut, along with bonus content. The film has become a touchstone not just for music lovers who came of age in the swaggering early 1970s rock era that Almost Famous celebrates, but subsequent generations of music fans who connect with its timeless portrait of how music can offer solace, insight, and joyous release from whatever challenges life throws.

Throughout this rock ‘n’ roll juggernaut, William Miller, Stillwater, and the film’s other players soak in the music of the day, all curated by Crowe using his knowledge of and connections to many of the biggest and most influential rock acts of the era. This manifests onscreen perhaps most memorably in the full-band bus singalong with Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s “Tiny Dancer,” the duo’s tribute to their own groupies—or as William is quickly corrected by Stillwater’s female fans when he uses the term, “We’re Band-Aids!”—emphasizing the distinction between those who crassly latch on to rock stars simply for their celebrity versus those who try to get closer because of their love for the music.

“In the late sixties, adventuresome and modern directors like Mike Nichols began moving away from traditional orchestral score in their movies,” Crowe writes in an essay accompanying the new project. “The Graduate, with its deft and emotional use of Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Sounds of Silence,’ changed the landscape.”

It surely did in Almost Famous: Led Zeppelin approved the use of five songs for the film—unprecedented at the time. When Crowe showed the film to Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page during his pitch to persuade them to grant use of the songs he wanted, Plant raised a question: “Was your mother really like that?” after taking in Frances McDormand’s endearingly taut performance as William’s over-anxious, over-protective college professor mom, Elaine. Cameron told him, “That and more.”

The original release of the film’s soundtrack included only Zeppelin’s “That’s the Way,” while the new set adds in “Misty Mountain Hop,” “The Rain Song,” “Bron-Yr-Aur” and “Tangerine,” the latter employed so effectively during the film’s finale as Stillwater’s tour bus trundles off into the sunset.

Actor Jason Lee, whose performance as Stillwater vocalist Jeff Bebe nailed a combination of bravado and underlying insecurity, says, “Every time I watch the movie…every time the bus is pulling away as Led Zeppelin’s ‘Tangerine’ plays at the end…it kind of crushes me a little bit. That song is a … killer. And with the dust kicking up as the bus is driving away…that moment for me, watching it as an audience member? Perfect. Watching it as a cast member and an audience member? It’s bittersweet.”

As Crowe puts it about finding the right music for each scene in a film, “Something magical happened when the actor and the scene and the music worked together. Often, it’s a shotgun marriage, but every once in a while, everything clicks. That’s when a movie can sear your soul.”

He had experienced that power while directing his debut film, Say Anything…, and again in his 1992 romantic comedy Singles as well as in 1996’s Jerry Maguire. “By the time we got to the next one,” he said of approaching Almost Famous, “I was ready to put the music at the center of the movie.”

JP COOPER – HOLY WATER

JP COOPER DROPS NEW SINGLE “HOLY WATER” LISTEN NOW

4 billion streams globally

1 Million ADJ. Global album sales

10 million monthly Spotify listeners

Top 10 debut album

Acclaimed British singer and songwriter JP Cooper, whose debut album “Raised Under Grey Skies” and huge global hit “September Song” introduced an artist of great depth with a voice and songs to match, returns with the release on May 21 of his new brand new Island Records single “Holy Water”. You can listen to the single HERE.

“Holy Water” is a deeply personal song for Cooper which explores the idea of picking yourself up whenever you fall, a great lesson he learnt from his dad.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the new song JP says:

Holy Water is a song that was half finished for about 5 years. I was raised in a strong Catholic household so questioning yourself and your choices was a big part of what was going on in my mind, especially in my teens, early twenties. There were a lot of things I was doing that I probably shouldn’t have been doing given the way that I was raised. There were lots of parts of myself that I guess I was at war with. My dad was always an amazing example… if you fall down, pick yourself up and keep it moving and I guess for him the church and his faith gave him the opportunity to start again, which is what initially inspired me to write the song. The song is for everyone though, regardless of their beliefs. I think we all, as human beings, want to to evolve and become better people. No matter how many times we let ourselves down, the important thing is to put it behind you, move forward and try to be better the next day. Holy Water is about showing gratitude to the people around me who taught me how to try and do that and how to process that. It doesn’t make me perfect but that’s a huge part of being human.

The infectious new gospel-tinged track follows JP’s 2020 EP release ‘Too Close’ which included the uplifting track “Little Bit of Love” which was written as a response to how many of us were feeling dealing with the pandemic.

JP’s soulful voice has graced two of the biggest and most enduring Top 10 singles of the last few years; the Jonas Blue’s memorable “Perfect Strangers”, which Cooper co-wrote, and his inescapable radio hit “September Song” (which has racked up over 600 million streams worldwide). JP also recently featured on Emily Burns’ new version of her song “Is It Just Me?” which also reached a Top 10 position on the iTunes chart. The Manchester born troubadour Cooper has an incredible 1 million ADJ Global album sales and an extraordinary 4 billion total global streams, fueled by his devoted 10 million monthly Spotify listeners. In addition, his music has been played on over 120,00 radio plays across 250 radio stations and sold out UK and European tours.

2021 promises to be JP’s most exciting year with lots of new music to come.

THE TRAGICALLY HIP – SASKADELPHIA

WELCOME TO SASKADELPHIA:

The Tragically Hip Surprise fans with new Album Saskadelphia out Friday May 21, featuring six previously unreleased tracks.

PREORDER THE ALBUM HERE

Celebrated, iconic band The Tragically Hip announce a brand-new album, Saskadelphiaout Friday, May 21.

Saskadelphia (Universal Music Canada/UMe) is made up of six previously unreleased tracks written in 1990. Five recorded in that same year during the Road Apples sessions in New Orleans, and one live track, “Montreal (Live from The Molson Centre, Montreal, Dec 7th, 2000),” written at the same time, but for which the original recording is yet to be found.

With no shortage of material and higher ups at the American record label resisting the band’s call to release a double album, countless tracks were left behind on the studio floor. And so, one album, Road Apples, heads out into the world, a rung on The Tragically Hip’s climb to legend status, while the rest of the tracks are tucked into boxes and moved out of sight.

Until now.

Welcome to Saskadelphia: the record that stayed in the wings as Road Apples hit the stage. The title, a term coined by the band in a nod to the extensive touring they were doing in the early 1990s, was the original working title for Road Apples before it was rejected by those same label execs as being “too Canadian.”

From lead single “Ouch,” which greets listeners with the familiar roaring vocals of late singer and lyricist Gord Downie, to “Not Necessary,” a song whose fiery sound is layered with gentle and emotional lyrics – are pure, undistilled The Tragically Hip, as Rob Baker (guitar), Gord Downie (vocals, guitar), Johnny Fay (drums), Paul Langlois (guitar) and Gord Sinclair (bass) lay the groundwork for their unmistakable sound.

“I went ‘Wow’ when I heard ‘Ouch’ after all this time,” says Rob Baker. “We were a pretty good little band.”

After rediscovering the tracks, they wrote more than three decades ago, The Tragically Hip knew they had to share the music with fans. Of these abandoned souvenirs from the past, Johnny Fay said, “We didn’t know what was there, so this meant baking them and listening to them as they were being transferred. Hearing them for the first time in 30 years was crazy.”

The Tragically Hip are set to receive the 2021 Humanitarian Award Presented by Music Canada at the 50th Annual JUNO Awards on Sunday, June 6, in Toronto. Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees and rock icons, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush will present the band with the award. The award recognizes outstanding Canadian artists or industry leaders whose humanitarian contributions have positively enhanced the social fabric of Canada and beyond. The broadcast can be streamed globally here.

Their studio catalog includes their self-titled debut album The Tragically Hip (1987), Up To Here (1989), Road Apples (1991), Fully Completely (1992), Day For Night (1994), Trouble At The Henhouse (1996), Phantom Power (1998), Music @ Work (2000), In Violet Light (2002), In Between Evolution (2004), World Container (2006), We Are The Same (2009), Now For Plan A (2012), Man Machine Poem (2016) and Saskadelphia (2021).  A National Celebration was the final show of The Tragically Hip’s Man Machine Poem Tour recorded on Aug. 20, 2016, at the K-Rock Centre in their hometown of Kingston, Ontario, and is their last performance as a five-piece band. Through their career, the band became a cultural touchstone in Canada and, despite their accolades and numerous recognitions, will always be proudest of the humanitarian work they have done over the years through numerous charitable organizations and causes.

Accelerating a rapid rise to the forefront of international culture, Universal Music Group Korea’s first K-POP idol group TRI.BE unveil their second single album, CONMIGO, today via Republic Records. It features the title track “RUB-A-DUM” and accompanying anthem “LORO.

Listen to CONMIGO HERE and watch the video for “RUB-A-DUM” HERE.

With CONMIGO, these fiery and fierce women only amplify their signature Girl Swag, radiating contagious levels of self-confidence in the process. As a high-energy call-to-arms, “RUB-A-DUM” nods to the timeless tale of the Pied Piper and invites fans to follow with the clarion call, “Everybody come play with TRI.BE, making it irresistible not to. On “LORO” –– Spanish for “Parrot” –– the girls preach about finding confidence in your true self. They might just urge you to mirror TRI.BE’s magnetic moves, much like a parrot. Musically, the multinational group fuses a young and refreshing mix of Dancehall and Reggaeton beats like never before.

Reflective of the title, CONMIGOor “With Me” in Spanish—the group welcomes an alliance from all who want to come and dance. “RUB-A-DUM” and “LORO” elevate TRI.BE’s eclectic charisma as they continue their boundary-breaking rise.

The first-of-its-kind quadrilingual group, TRI.BE consists of seven members—SONGSUN, JINHA, HYUNBIN, and SOEUN hailing from Seoul, KELLY and JIA from Taipei, and MIRE from Tokyo—and speaks and sings in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Earlier this year, they teamed up with two of the most famous K-POP producers in the world, S.Tiger [BEAST, IU, 4Minute, MOMOLAND, EXID, T-ARA, Apink, HyunA] and none other than TRI.BE’s supportive big sister EXID’s ELLY, for the two tracks on TRI.BE Da Loca, generating 5 million-plus streams right out of the gate. The two have come together yet again with TRI.BE to create another masterpiece, CONMIGO.

TRI.BE’s name comes from the combination of the words “triangle,” which signifies the most perfect shape, and “being,” leading to the slogan, “We are perfect as we are. The group conveys the message of self-love and confidence by unapologetically flaunting their key concept of Girl Swag.

Girl Swag goes global in 2021 thanks to TRI.BE.
