Drai’s Commemorates Incredible 25-Year Anniversary with a VIP Celebration and All-Night Party

Opened in 1997, Victor Drai’s iconic nightclub changed the Las Vegas landscape by introducing nightlife to the Las Vegas Strip

The iconic Drai’s Las Vegas, founded by legendary nightlife innovator Victor Drai, celebrated its remarkable 25-year anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 15 at its original Las Vegas location at Drai’s After Hours. Hosted by Drai and his son, Dustin Drai, who currently serves as vice president of entertainment at Drai’s Beachclub • Nightclub and is also his father’s business partner for Drai’s After Hours, the VIP event was a celebration of Drai’s past, present and future with a guest list that included current and former employees, executives and performers, reuniting to share fond memories, photos and stories of the historic club.

The evening’s formal presentation was highlighted by an official proclamation presented to Drai by Clark County Commissioners Tick Segerblom and William McCurdy II, symbolizing Drai’s standing as a one-of-a-kind Las Vegas hallmark, as well as a special video message from Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman.

With a nod to what he calls the “Drai’s family” both past and present, Dustin Drai stated, “Yes, we’re celebrating 25 years of Drai’s Las Vegas, but what we’re really celebrating is 25 years of being a part of Las Vegas nightlife and how my father has created not only jobs for the people that have worked here, but the nightlife industry overall which has provided livelihoods and careers to thousands and thousands of people who may or may not have come to Las Vegas without him coming here.”

Victor and Dustin were honored with a specially crafted 25-year anniversary cake before mingling and partying the night away at Drai’s After Hours, where guests including Wiz Khalifa, who headlined a Drai’s LIVE concert at Drai’s Nightclub earlier in the night, enjoyed an electric party that featured the return of many of Drai’s original house DJ’s who brought the night’s vibe back to the club’s early roots of house music.

Founder and visionary Victor Drai brought Drai’s, his uber-popular Los Angeles restaurant, to Las Vegas in 1997. By 1999, Drai’s had become Las Vegas’ in-demand hotspot for after-hours, with a line of people clamoring to get in from late at night through the early morning. In 2014, Drai expanded his nightlife footprint to the 11thstory rooftop of the hotel with the introduction of Drai’s Beachclub • Nightclub, a palatial 65,000-square-foot club, as part of the property’s rebrand to The Cromwell, a swanky boutique hotel. Drai’s After Hours remains in its original location in the basement of the property – where the walls are still awash in Drai’s signature red with Victor’s legendary art collection hanging from the walls.

The Drai’s celebration weekend kicked off with a bang on Friday, Oct. 14, when music superstar Chris Brown attended the high energy concert by Grammy-nominated singer, Fabolous, at Drai’s Nightclub.

Over the past 25 years, Drai’s has hosted countless superstars and icons including Quincy Jones, Timbaland, Rihanna, Paris Hilton, Kourtney Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, Kevin Hart, Rick Ross, 50 Cent and more who have performed or partied at Drai’s in both Los Angeles and Las Vegas. BASTILLE – REVOLUTION

Bastille releases the official video for new single, the electronic club banger “Revolution”—watch HERE. The celestial visuals see Dan Smith and a dancer illuminated by an ethereal, suspended sphere, interspersed with cosmic imagery, playing into the vibrantly futuristic sonics of the track.

Dan explains, “The chorus is about the intimacy of human connection in the context of some science fiction, space-centered imagery. But it’s also about the idea of those amazingly thoughtful people who spend their lives trying to change the world in a positive way.”

“I’m totally over-awed by people like that – if you’re one of them, like an inventor, activist or scientist, you have to have the ability to imagine a version of the future that’s better than what currently exists, and then have that energy to actually work to make it happen. Alongside all the other things life throws at you. So, I wanted to nod to those people and the idea that before anything big happens, most of them will have had these little revolutions in their minds, a change of perspective that leads to something bigger.”

Taking inspiration from Quincy Jones’ production, “Revolution” had always been one of the core songs for Give Me The Future. The track now features on part two of the band’s three-part extended edition of the critically acclaimed, number one album. Part three, meanwhile, acts as a mini return to the band’s acclaimed “Other People’s Heartache” Mixtape series opening the four-piece up to collaborations, covers and concept-free creativity.

Since the release of the record, Bastille have created an immersive experience at their sold-out gigs, bringing the themes of the album to life in arenas across the UK and on a tour of North America. At this year’s Glastonbury Festival, such was the demand to witness their secret set the festival organizers had to cordon off the surrounding area at the 1,000-capacity William’s Green tent as festivalgoers tried to descend in the masses to catch a glimpse of their secret performance.

Such fervent scenes continue across the summer as the band play huge sets at festivals across the UK and Europe, including Boardmasters, Sziget, and two mammoth sub-headliner spots at Reading & Leeds 2022. Earlier this year, Bastille released their hotly anticipated #1 album, Give Me The Future, a record that explores a futuristic wonderland free from restrictions. The album embraces a new wave of technology, which enables us to get lost inside our imagination and travel back and forward in time to be anyone or do anything.

Now, the band are adding a further instalment to this critically acclaimed release, sharing a three-part extended edition of the album, dubbed Give Me The Future + Dreams Of The Past, featuring another album’s worth of new songs, collaborations, covers, and reprises. Watch HERE.

The new songs make ever clearer the link between the future and past, highlighting the ability to choose to go backwards as well as forwards like in more nostalgic cuts such as the Graceland-inspired “Family Ties.” Written about Smith’s memories of visiting his late aunt in South Africa, the warm, wistfulness of the track provides a counterpart to time travel’s usually futuristic sheen – as per new single, the rave-ready electronic club banger “Revolution”—listen HERE.

“Revolution” had always been one of the core songs for Give Me The Future and took inspiration from Quincy Jones’ production and The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face”. “The chorus is about the intimacy of human connection in the context of some science fiction, space-centred imagery. But it’s also about the idea of those amazingly thoughtful people who spend their lives trying to change the world in a positive way,” explains Dan. “I’m totally over-awed by people like that – if you’re one of them, like an inventor, activist or scientist, you have to have the ability to imagine a version of the future that’s better than what currently exists, and then have that energy to actually work to make it happen. On the “Other People’s Heartache” section of the album – Bastille bring that energy to life via collaborations; The glacial groove of “Run Into Trouble” with Alok, the garage stutter of “Eight Hours” with Tyde, a cover of the Bruce Springsteen classic “Dancing In The Dark,” and boundary-less new songs including the irresistible “Remind Me” and the melancholic power ballad “Running Away.”

The last song on the record is the beautifully ethereal “Hope For The Future,” a song which hints at where the band could sonically go next. Written for the soundtrack of the Leonardo DiCaprio-produced documentary From Devil’s Breath – a short film about forest fires, climate change, and tree planting. It centres around an acoustic guitar melody and Smith’s layered vocals. “I was thinking about Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver and all the acoustic artists who manage to write music that is both orchestral and floaty, but also a grounded in some grit,” he says. “It was very much at odds with all of the synthesisers, drum machines, and electronic instruments and the production that we were using for Give Me The Future, but I feel super proud of it.”

Their fourth album, the masterful Give Me The Future, was hailed by many critics as their best release to date, with The Fader describing it as “a grand collection of sci-fi inspired songs attempting to make sense of the world’s fast-moving venture into dystopia.” NME said: “The result is the most expansive, yet cohesive record Bastille have put their name to,” adding that the band may have “created a perfect soundtrack to life after lockdown.” The Independent, meanwhile, declared: “When confined within Bastille’s catchy hooks and imaginative, era-spanning production, what lies ahead suddenly isn’t so terrible. The future is bright – for 30 minutes’ worth of bops, at least.”

Despite the release of the album coming suddenly, Dawn FM has been a smash hit. Dawn FM may just snatch up the spot as The Weeknd’s best album thus far. The single “Sacrifice” came out at #1 on Spotify US and global, while the collection The Highlights, too, ranks among the Billboard Top 10 at #6. Having two albums rank in the top ten is conventionally unheard of, a resounding accomplishment for The Weeknd.

Playing off the theme of an afterlife-esque radio station network, Dawn FM transforms viewers to a new universe. Bastille – Give Me The Future

Give Me The Future, Bastille’s wildly ambitious and brilliantly bold new album, is set for release on February 4th, 2022. To celebrate the announcement, the band released their new single “No Bad Days,” accompanied by the official video co-directed by Dan Smith on October 19th.

The album is a tribute to humanity in a tech age and reflects on the strangeness of living through times that can feel like science fiction. Exploring both the opportunities of new technology and the dark side of online living, it’s as playful and fun as it is thought-provoking, as dystopian as it is dance floor-friendly, and as electronic as Bastille has ever been.

Songwriter, Smith, came up with the idea pre-pandemic. The album was already underway and the band on hiatus from touring when the world shut down, forcing interaction solely through screens.

“Working on these songs in such an apocalyptic period, with everyone stuck at home, glued to screens, fed into the feeling that what is real and what is not has become pretty difficult to discern sometimes,” says Smith. “We’re in the age of deep fake, fake news and lying world leaders. But online, you can be anyone. What that does to our sense of self and to our relationships is huge, and it’s fascinating.”

Give Me The Future takes us into a fantasy wonderland free from restrictions. Each song is a different danceable dreamscape, a place where you can travel back and forward in time to be anyone, do anything, and embrace a new wave of automation. This enables the listener to get lost inside their imagination. The album is laced with references to the world of sci-fi film, literature, video games and virtual reality.

It’s a record that takes the idea of the limitless possibilities of the future and journeys from a joyride of escapism on the uplifting “Thelma + Louise,” a tribute to the iconic feminist film on its 20th anniversary, to 80’s New York with the artist Keith Haring on the bright and whistling “Club 57”, and to a hospital bed in Australia for the devastating but hopeful new single, “No Bad Days”. Co-directed for the first time by Smith, the music video for “No Bad Days” is set in a modern laboratory and sees Dan playing a character using machinery to try and resurrect a lost loved one. Nodding to the classic technological tales of Metropolis, Ex Machina and The Matrix, the video paints an emotional and intimate story.

“It’s really satisfying to have finally directed and I’m really proud of the little film we made. I grew up with film as my main obsession, so this was a bit of a dream. I learned a shitload, and it was good to be challenged in a new way,” Smith states.

The song has disco bass lines, orchestras of synths, guitars, gospel, spaceship sounds, euphoric strings, vocoders, talk boxes, a choir of roadies, and a host of beats. The title track, “Give Me The Future” tips its hat to Phil Collins and The Police, “Shut Off The Lights” is a sonic love letter to Paul Simon’s Graceland, and “Stay Awake” nods to Daft Punk and Quincy Jones.

Having thrown themselves into co-writing for other artists in recent years, for the first time ever on a Bastille album, the band inched open the door to collaborators. Although primarily produced by Smith and long-term production partner Mark Crew, the band also worked with a handful of writers and producers to expand the world.

“Distorted Light Beam” was co-written and produced with Ryan Tedder who has worked with Adele, Paul McCartney, and Taylor Swift, as well as  contributing as a sounding board and executive producer for the album.

“Thelma + Louise,” “Stay Awake,” and “Back To The Future” were co-written with legendary songwriter Rami Yacoub, who has worked on Britney Spears’ “…Baby One More Time” and Lady Gaga’s Chromatica Album. They also worked with British writers Jonny Coffer, Plested, and Dan Priddy to bring the album to life.

You’ll also hear the voice of award-winning actor, musician, writer, creator, producer, director, and activist Riz Ahmed on a spell-binding and evocative spoken word piece called “Promises.” Ahmed’s piece was a response the album and brings its overarching themes into sharp focus.

Over the course of their previous three albums, Bastille have cemented a reputation for building whole worlds around their releases, often doing so with innovative, award-winning creativity. Give Me The Future is no different, this time accompanied by a fictional, but familiar, tech giant called Future Inc., the creators of an invention called “Futurescape,” a device which allows users to live out their dreams virtually. It’s weaved through every element of the campaign and can be seen in the videos for all three singles: “Distorted Light Beam,” “Thelma & Louise,” and “No Bad Days.”

Sonically diverse and conceptually adventurous, Bastille’s fourth album, Give Me The Future pushes the band into exciting new frontiers. The record serves as less of a judgement on current life, but rather a reflection on where we are and perhaps where things could be, “I’m just observing the truly weird times we’re living in and having fun responding to it through these songs,” Dan says. “As the final track “Who Knows What the Future Holds… Don’t Matter If I Got You” says, this is happening, whether we like it or not. Finding happiness in the moment is surely the aim, whether it’s in the real or virtual world.”

Academy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globe winning artist and activist Jon Batiste debuts SING Feat. Tori Kelly. The uplifting and soulful track is from his upcoming release WE ARE: THE DELUXE EDITION (October 15 on Verve Records).  The set features six new tracks and features including Tori Kelly, BJ The Chicago Kid, Abi Bernadoth, Big Chief Romeo and Big Freedia.

Brazillian artist Munir Hossn shares new album – Vientre

Brazillian artist Munir Hossn, an esteemed producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist, shares his latest full-length album Vientre today via Jammcard Records. The brand new catalogue of tracks celebrates women across the globe, in dedication to the artist’s late mother, who unfortunately passed recently in the spring of 2021. To make the album, Munir teamed up with a cast entirely of female musicians and singers.

Vientre is a compelling new collection that evokes every emotion through the lens of various bonds that Munir has made with important women throughout his life’s journey. Amongst the most impactful, Vientre seeks to embody the strongest relationship that a human can experience, which is the relationship between a mother and a child.

Hossn shares, “The idea of making an album with and dedicated to all women became a necessity, a very special story full of mixed emotions.

As the son of a very young mother who was still discovering how to enjoy life, I spent much of my childhood with my aunts, cousins, grandmothers, teachers; great women who taught me what today is for me, the most valuable lesson in my existence: to have love towards others, towards nature and towards life itself.

While my mother was away for different reasons, I would miss her; and through her absence I learned the importance of the female figure in our lives. After having spent more than twenty years traveling the world without seeing her, the memories and all my thoughts about that relationship, which I had held from another point of view, were transformed into a set of songs that have helped me to rebuild the most beautiful parts of this story.

Throughout my life I have met incredible female instrumentalists who identified with what I was looking for in that production and tribute: Naile Sosa, a Cuban drummer who brings in her rhythm to the full heritage of Mother Africa. Luca Fumero on piano and Rita Payes on trombone, both born in Barcelona and two young and virtuous instrumentalists who represent in the album the baroque and the playful of European music. And finally, Natascha Rogers, a percussionist born in Belgium, daughter of an English mother and a Native American father, a mixture that made her a strong woman, with  the colors and sounds of nature.

As I offer all my energy and dedication through this album, my wish for you is that you feel in each melody the strength and greatness of that being who, in addition to giving us life, teaches us the origin of the feeling called love.

I dedicate this album to all the women of our planet and especially to my mother who left us on the morning of 05/10/2021. May she rest in peace and may my music always make her smile.”

Born in Brazil, Munir’s mixture between Africans, Europeans, Arabians, and Brazilian-indigenous people make him one of the most original and authentic artists of his country and the world. Jonah Nilsson, lead vocalist for Dirty Loops, a major YouTube sensation, has teamed up with guitar legend Steve Vai the new single “Diamond Ring,” out today on Jammcard Records. “Diamond Ring” showcases Nilsson’s incomparable vocal range and stylings accompanied by an incredible guitar solo from Vai, the hero of shredding. Quincy discovered the Swedish singer and multi-instrumentalist through his work with Dirty Loops, taking Jonah under the wing of his management team for a solo record, due out later this summer. “Diamond Ring” also features Kristian Kraftling (keys), Jesper the Creator (guitar), Kefa Figaro (drums) and Tobias Grenholm (bass).

“I’m so so excited to present this song that has been in the works for a long time!” Jonah shares. “It’s a very dance-friendly song with lots of fun musical elements with Steve Vai ending the song with a crazy solo! I thought to myself, this song needs the most epic, crazy, guitar-hero solo possible and there is only one person who could’ve delivered that. STEVE VAI!”

Jonah and Steve, both powerhouses in their respective talents, ran in similar circles in the music industry, and ultimately bonded over their common interest as master multi-instrumental musicians. They decided to work on “Diamond Ring” together, giving the song a genre-defying edge that blends rock, soul, R&B, funk and pop together under one roof.

“There’s a new breed of brilliant evolutionary musicians breaking onto the scene, and this track is the evidence,” Vai says. “It takes pop to another dimension of groove, musicality and overall bad-assery. It’s amazeballs.”
