2 Chainz – Money Maker

2 Chainz, the multi-platinum, Grammy Award®-winning MC returns with Money Maker” feat. Lil Wayne, the first new single from his forthcoming sixth studio album via Def Jam Recordings. The song samples Louisiana’s HBCU Southern University world-renowned marching band, Human Jukebox, which are also featured in the artwork. 2 Chainz previewed the song last night during his Verzuz battle with Rick Ross where the King’s of the South celebrated their legacies and iconic catalogs. Money Makeris the first new music from 2 Chainz since his January single + video “Dead Man Walking” featuring Future.

2 Chainz’ most recent Def Jam album, Rap Or Go To The League (released March 2019), was described as his most personal, most lyrical, most soulful record to date. It challenged the notion that the only way out of the inner city is either to become a rapper or a ball player. The album flipped that trope, celebrating themes of black excellence, the power of education, and entrepreneurship.  A&R’d by LeBron James, Rap Or Go To The League spun off two smashes: the MTV VMA-nominated “Rule The World” featuring Ariana Grande, which boasts nearly 22 million YouTube views to date; and the RIAA platinum Bigger Than You featuring Drake and Quavo which has amassed over 62 million combined YouTube views to date.

Rap Or Go To The League was 2 Chainz’ first new studio album since Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, his RIAA gold #1 release of 2017. That LP netted over 2 billion streams after racking up three consecutive RIAA multi-platinum hits: “4 AM” featuring Travis Scott; “It’s A Vibe” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz and Jhené Aiko; and “Good Drank” featuring Quavo and Gucci Mane.

In addition to music, his wildly popular tv show Most Expensivest on VICELAND wrapped up its third season in 2019 with 20 new episodes; view the series trailer HEREHis “Chain Reaction” sneaker collaboration with Versace hit stores in the spring 2018, and was their most popular shoe of the year. His cannabis brand, GAS Cannabis Co. is available throughout California HERE.  And he starred with Adam Scott in the 2019 Super Bowl LIII Expensify tv spot, “the world’s first Super Bowl commercial you can expense.”

Following his run as a founding member of Def Jam duo Playaz Circle from his native Atlanta, 2 Chainz’ name was on everyone’s lips in 2012, when he stole a verse on Mercy,” fellow Def Jam artist Kanye West/G.O.O.D. Music’s RIAA triple-platinum #1 R&B/#1 Rap hit (from Cruel Summer).  In August 2012, Chainz arrived as a Def Jam solo artist with Based On A T.R.U. Story, his debut album.  B.O.A.T.S. entered Soundscan at #1 and was certified RIAA gold.  Its success was fueled by the RIAA platinum #1 “No Lie” featuring Drake, the double-platinum “Birthday Song” featuring Kanye West, and double-platinum “I’m Different.”  “Mercy” was subsequently a Grammy® nominee for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, while B.O.A.T.S. was nominated for Best Rap Album.  Chainz’ dominance was extended when the sequel, B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Timeentered the Soundscan hip-hop chart at #1 in September 2013, and spun off the RIAA gold single, “Feds Watching” featuring Pharrell.

In 2016, Chainz brought it back to his essence with a series of mixtapes that dominated the streets: Felt Like Cappin, Daniel Son; Necklace Don, and Hibachi For Lunch.  Also in 2016, he released the lauded collaborative album ColleGrove with New Orleans hip-hop luminary Lil Wayne.  Critics agreed that 2 Chainz conquered 2016, with the New York Times proclaiming “all hail our greatest punch line rapper, 2 Chainz.”  The year was capped off with his first Grammy Award, Best Rap Performance for his verse on Chance The Rapper’s hit song “No Problem.”

With momentum on his side, 2 Chainz released his first solo album since 2013: Pretty Girls Like Trap Music (June 2017) was accompanied by a 35-city tour of North America through September.  Chainz’ TV appearances included visits with Jimmy Kimmel (HERE), Jimmy Fallon (HERE), and Trevor Noah (HERE).  2018 brought the EP releases The Play Don’t Care Who Makes It(February, with the RIAA gold “Proud” featuring YG and Offset), and Hot Wings Are A Girl’s Best Friend (November), pointing to the March 2019 release of Chainz’ fourth solo album, Rap Or Go To The League.  Chainz’ impact on popular culture encompasses not only music but his Most Expensivest cable tv series on VICELAND, his “Chain Reaction” sneaker collaboration with Versace, his GAS Cannabis Co. brand, and his 2019 Super Bowl LIII Expensify tv spot with Adam Scott.  TheRinger.comwas inspired to write: “Forget Mount Rushmore –  2 Chainz deserves his own national monument. This year dude is top five humans of all time.”

R&B SENSATION, SINGER/ SONGWRITER PALOMA FORD PREMIERES X TAPES

Paloma Ford – X Tapes

The wait has come to an end— today Billboard-charting, acclaimed singer/songwriter Paloma Ford releases her eagerly anticipated EP X Tapes. The 7-track project that compromises the unanimously applauded singles “Rain,” “Chrome In My Feelings” Live, and “Nights I Cry” along with the official lead single for the project “All For Nothing” featuring Rick Ross, and more, is available on all streaming services HERE.

Paloma’s latest body of work marks the culmination of a three-year journey that started in creation shortly after the release of her debut project “Nearly Civilized.” Featured on Apple Music’s ‘New in R&B’ playlist, Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’ playlist, ‘The Newness’ playlist and more todayX Tapes takes fans on a reflection-filled ride as Paloma speaks to her resilience amid trials, tribulations, and triumphs — ultimately making her stronger than ever as she unveils her second project as an independent artist.

On the release of her new EP X Tapes, Paloma says “In this business where it feels like so much has little to do with art, it’s not an easy task to remain true to yourself and I’m genuinely happy that I was able to create this project that focused on what matters most to me—the art of music. I’m thankful to all the fans that have been riding with me since day one and all the new fans that’ll discover X Tapes and find their story in mine. I’m fulfilled with knowing that at least one person found healing in my music; the same healing I received making this project. Thank you all for listening and keeping X Tapes on repeat“.

Earlier this year Paloma previewed the layers of emotions that would go into the making of X Tapes with “Rain.” Premiering on Complex earlier this year, “Rain” introduces and leads listeners to the heart of X Tapes. “Before you can address the loss of love, you have to start at how you got to that point, the beginning,” Paloma says. “Chrome” ‘In My Feelings Live,’ described as an “intimate, sultry song showcasing  sweet vocals” by ThisisRnB, was also released earlier this year and is accompanied with a special live recording experience Paloma was adamant with sharing to the world—showing a glimpse of her vulnerability that listeners will hear more of on this project. “Nights I Cry” rounds out the already released tracks from X Tapes and serves as an R&B, heartbreak ballad that finds Paloma at a moment of disappointment over a love that can be considered a loss. Praised by LA Weekly and more, the emotive track showcases one of the many moments of realizations, Paloma has personally experienced, that makes up the DNA of X Tapes.

ABOUT PALOMA FORD
Born in Los Angeles, Paloma Ford—singer, songwriter, designer and mother exemplifies the feminine ideal from multiple angles. On the microphone, her sultry and soulful delivery consistently captivates listeners, while her relatable stories of love, passion and heartbreak keep us coming back for more. It should be no surprise Paloma cites her primary influences as Aaliyah, Sade and Janet Jackson, as she also bends R&B to fit and express her individual style.

Off the mic, Paloma describes herself as simply, “A mother and a girl from Los Angeles who has been through a lot of relatable experiences.” “I’m very optimistic, I try to see the good in others. I love being able to help and heal people. I’m a private person, so I don’t show everything on my social media. In my music, you can recognize moments of sensuality and strength. It’s all part of being a woman. That’s the message. It’s important for me to talk about other situations I’ve been in that other women can relate to.”

In 2006, she serendipitously met Macy Gray before a House of Blues gig. As it turned out, a background singer fell ill, so Macy asked Paloma to step in. Numerous live performances followed as Paloma also contributed vocals to three tracks from the star’s 2007 release Big—joining an esteemed cast of collaborators such as Justin Timberlake and will.i.am. As she built a following on YouTube via independent tracks “Dollars,” “Ménage à Trois,” and “Hit of You,” Meek Mill enlisted her for his 2014 single “I Don’t Know,” which rose fast on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap Charts. During 2017, she unveiled her Nearly Civilized EP powered by a series of standout singles: “W.E.T.” [2.4 million Spotify streams], “Hit Of You” [1.6 million Spotify streams], and “Jada” [1.6 Million Spotify streams]. She appeared alongside Fabolous and Davo on “Connection” from Tory Lanez’s chart-topping Memories Don’t Die in 2018. At the same time, she carefully assembled what would become her 2020 independent EP, X Tapes.

Teyana Taylor’s Exclusive Celeb Listening Event

Cardi B, Offset, Quavo, Winnie Harlow, Lena Waithe, Terrence J, and more joined Teyana Taylor at an exclusive LA listening event for THE ALBUM.

THE ALBUM, releasing Juneteenth, features special guests Rick Ross, Erykah Badu, Quavo, Missy Elliott, Future, Big Sean, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and more.

About Teyana Taylor

Being a jack of trades has enabled Teyana Taylor to become a master of all. From her smoky melodic vocals to her dynamic dance moves, the R&B superstar entertainer dips in dives between her talents as singer, songwriter, producer, director, dancer/choreographer, actor, fitness guru, model, and mother. When it comes to describing herself, the Harlem native can only think of one word: Everything.

“I literally can do everything. I never look at anything as being impossible,” she explains. “I exhaust all options to make what happen when I need to make happen.” Her mantra made her an early favorite to artists like Pharrell, who she signed her first deal with, and later choreographed videos for artists like Beyoncé and Jay-Z. In 2014, Teyana’s love for the arts and R&B earned her the title of the first woman signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint.

Between R&B’s identity crisis in the 2010s, Teyana dropped her debut album VII, with tracks like “Maybe” (featuring Yo Gotti and Pusha T) and the sultry “Just Different” shaping her musical persona. The critically acclaimed album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in 2014, cementing her position in today’s modern R&B field. “I fought for that raw, hood necessary R&B and now I feel like it’s better than ever,” she says.

After spicing up the R&B charts, Teyana was blessed with the arrival of her daughter Junie with husband and NBA star Iman Shumpert in 2015. “I do all of this for my baby. She’s who I do it for,” she says about Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr., her main source of inspiration. “I always show her how to be a leader and a businesswoman. I want her to believe that she can be anything she wants to be and it not be a shocker that she’s a female doing it all.” Soon after, Teyana went on to star in the internet-breaking video (https://defjam.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b52e78ece97447e472590f343&id=ebb0bed877&e=4792530c9f) for Kanye West’s “Fade,” and scored her first MTV Moonman for “Best Choreography” at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

But it wasn’t until the release of her second album project K.T.S.E.(released June 2018) that the world caught up with Teyana’s talents. With her all-female production company The Aunties, Teyana self-directed videos for “WTP,” the RIAA gold-selling single “Gonna Love Me,” (whose remix features Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Raekwon), and recently, “Issues/Hold On.” Teyana has also directed videos for her peers like T.I. (“You”), Monica (“Commitment”), and Lil Duval (“Pull Up” featuring Ty Dolla $ign) with fans like Ms. Lauryn Hill and Elton John praising her boss moves.

Part of what makes Teyana stand out from the rest is her ability to move with precision and poise in everything she does. From the studio to the stage, every idea is a project with the singer front and center with a vision all her own. With her musical inspirations like Aaliyah, Teena Marie, Mint Condition and Janet Jackson speaking to her soul, Teyana is aware her mission is larger than life. “I’m working on me every day and I think that’s my purpose,” she says, comparing her life to a never-ending book. “I’m still going, still mastering and being a better me.”

Royce da 5’9″ × Vevo Ctrl

Vevo announces Royce da 5’9″ as the next artist in their Ctrl series with a performance of “Thou Shall” and “Overcomer” premiering today.
Watch “Overcomer” HERE
Watch “Thou Shall” HERE
Vevo’s Ctrl series highlights the work of hard-hitting, cutting-edge musicians making an impact in today’s music scene – both emerging and established. These artists demand attention, and Vevo’s Ctrl shines a deserving spotlight. Shot in Vevo’s Brooklyn studio, Freddie Gibbs’ performance follow sessions from Rick Ross, Common, Rapsody, Fat Joe, Jeezy, Jadakiss, Fabolous, A$AP Ferg and more.
Rapper Royce da 5’9″ became known outside his native Detroit first for his work with Eminem and Dr. Dre, then through unexpected pop success, prolific solo output, and his roles in the group’s Slaughterhouse and PRhyme. His raw persona and talent for intricate lyrical design were on display in nonstop output that included frequent mixtapes, collaborations, and solo albums like his 2002 debut, Rock City.
His first major recorded appearance was on “Bad Meets Evil,” a track off The Slim Shady LP, Eminem’s multi-platinum commercial breakthrough released in 1999. Later in the year, Royce and Eminem released “Nuttin’ to Do” as Bad Meets Evil, and Royce debuted as a solo artist with the Alchemist-produced “I’m the King.” Additionally, Royce co-wrote “The Message,” the closing track of Dr. Dre’s 2001. Dre had previously offered an Aftermath label deal to Royce, who briefly went with Tommy Boy prior to landing with Game Recordings.
Early the next decade, Royce scored the first in a string of charting solo singles with “Boom,” a collaboration with DJ Premier that began a long-term affiliation. Rock City, his full-length debut, was released in 2002, but bootlegging of its contents prompted the rapper to decamp to Koch, where he issued Rock City (Version 2.0) and followed up in 2004 with Death Is Certain. Among the tracks on which he appeared during the next couple years was on Joe Budden’s “Slaughterhouse,” which led to group recordings of the same name. Royce, Budden, Joell Ortiz, and Crooked I released a self-titled album that debuted at number 25 on the Billboard 200. Within a matter of weeks, through another independent label deal, Royce’s fourth solo album, Street Hop, was on shelves.
Royce enjoyed even greater commercial success during the 2010s, a period during which his high critical stature as a sharp lyricist likewise escalated. In 2011, he and Eminem reconvened for Hell: The Sequel. The EP topped the Billboard 200 and was trailed shortly thereafter by the release of solo album five, Success Is Certain, a Top 30 hit itself. The year 2012 was especially significant for Royce, not only for the warm reception to Slaughterhouse’s Welcome To: Our House, but also for his sobriety date that September. Alcoholism had plagued his life for several years, notably related on “Shake This,” and had led to a handful of drunken driving offenses, a prison sentence, and the deterioration of his family life.
Royce went through a protracted period of writer’s block, but his career resumed in full force in 2014, when he appeared on benefactor Eminem’s posse cut “Detroit vs. Everybody” and released his first album with DJ Premier as PRhyme. Another solo album, Layers, was out by the end of 2016. PRhyme 2, along with seventh solo full-length Book of Ryan, materialized in 2018. He continued his long history of Eminem collaborations with both the song “Caterpillar” on Book of Ryan and a spot on Eminem’s 2018 surprise-released Kamikaze album. Royce’s eighth 22-track album, The Allegory, includes cameos from Westside Gunn, YBN Cordae, Benny the Butcher, and many others.
“Thou Shall” and “Overcomer” are now streaming on all platforms. Keep up with exclusive content from artists all over the world on YouTube.com/Vevo.

ABOUT DAVE EAST:
Praised for his lyricism and raw storytelling, and blessed with a loyal New York following, Dave East is one of the most promising rappers on the scene today. Born and raised in Harlem, he was inspired by older generation East Coast rappers ranging from Notorious B.I.G. to Styles P, Jadakiss, Cam’ron, and Big Pun. After a college basketball stint, Dave’s attention gravitated full time to music. Starting in 2010, an array of highly praised mixtapes earned him widespread recognition in the hip-hop community. His seventh mixtape, 2014’s Black Rose caught Nas by surprise, resulting in Dave’s signing to Nas’ Mass Appeal imprint. Subsequent mixtapes Hate Me Now (2015) and Kairi Chanel (2016, named for Dave’s daughter), boasted a collective guest list topped by Nas, Styles P, Pusha T, Jadakiss, 2 Chainz, Fabolous, Cam’ron, Beanie Sigel, Rico Love, and The Game, to name a few. Kairi Chanel led off with the storytelling visual for “Keisha” followed by “Type of Time, with over 12 million combined YouTube views to date. After nabbing a spot in the notorious XXL Freshman Class of 2016, Dave arrived on the Def Jam roster late that year. He finished out 2016 by joining Lin-Manuel Miranda, Nas, and Aloe Blacc for “Wrote My Way Out” on the critically acclaimed The Hamilton Mixtape. Dave was next heard on “Gold Digger” featuring A-Boogie, from Def Jam’s Direct Deposit Vol. 2 compilation (February 2017).

Dave’s 13-track Def Jam debut mixtape EP Paranoia: A True Story (August 2017) took off with the single “Perfect” featuring Chris Brown, whose video boasts over 40 million combined YouTube views to date. The Paranoia 2 mixtape followed in January 2018. It was supported by a 10-minute short film, “The Hated,” a gritty drama centering on two childhood friends who get caught up in the street hustle that eventually lands one of them in the Rikers Island lockup. Dave’s profile was amped considerably on his 23-citymcross-country “Paranoia 2 Tour” of the U.S. in January-February 2018. He then jumped into the ring for Beloved (October 2018), a mixtape collabo with invincible Yonkers MC Styles P. The project spun off a single, “We Got Everything,” starred both MCs. Dave segued into headlining his 23-city “Get It How I Live Tour” of the U.S. in November-December 2018. In September 2019, HULU premiered the fictionalized drama Wu-Tang: An American Saga, the 10-episode limited mini-series in which Dave East won overnight critical acclaim for his portrayal of Method Man (one of the executive producers with Brian Grazer). In January 2020, HULU announced the renewal of the series for a second season. In addition to his features on over a dozen singles (and an appearance on Lin-Manuel Miranda’s The Hamilton Mixtape), Dave has collaborated on tracks with A-listers 2 Chainz, Fabolous, Mac Miller, Trey Songz, Styles P, Meek Mill, Pvrx, and fellow Harlem mc Smoke DZA, to name a few.
