The album has arrived as a cultural milestone in its own right. Stretching past the eight-minute mark, the title track “GOD DID” [feat. Rick RossLil WayneJAY-ZJohn Legend, & Fridayy] has sparked an important conversation. As part of a special report for MSNBC, Ari Melber host of The Beat broke down JAY-Z’s four-minute verse as a cogent and cohesive analysis on the failures of the prolonged generational drug war framed through the icon’s own journey embodied in the rhyme, “cocaína into champagne. However, it didn’t stop there. KhaledJAY-Z, Melber, and journalist Rob Markman engaged in this discourse publicly on Twitter SpacesJAY-Z went one step further and uploaded Melber’s initial report as “HOV DID” on all streaming platforms. Rolling Stone and People have chronicled this chain of events, and the conversation continues. However, it all started on “GOD DID.

Meanwhile, “Use This Gospel (Remix) [feat. Kanye WestEmimen (prod. by Dr. Dre The ICU)] bowed at #1 on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs Chart and Hot Christian Songs Chart—Khaled’s first #1 entries on the respective charts. Additionally, he notched 10 entries on the Billboard Hot 100, including “God Did” at #17, “Staying Alive,” which is now RIAA Certified Gold, at #21 (Greatest Gainer/Streaming), “Beautiful” at #29, “Big Time” at #31, “Use This Gospel (Remix)”at #49, “Juice WRLD Did” at #55, “Keep Going” at #57 “Party” at #66, “It Ain’t Safe” at #77 “No Secret” at #78 and “Let’s Pray” at #86.

Beyond posting up over 800 million cumulative streams and views, GOD DID finds Khaled everywhere. GQ spoke to him as part of an in-depth profile and proclaimed, “Sixteen years after his star-studded debut, 2006’s Listennn… the Album, many of its same guests showed up for God Did, and getting these now-giants to answer the call today is even more of an impressive feat.” Meanwhile, Elliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller of Rap Radar chatted with him for an all-encompassing podcast. Plus, he took the stage at the MTV VMA to present the award for “Best Collaboration” to Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow for Industry Baby.

He celebrated the rollout with an unprecedented deluge of videos, including, “Big Time” [feat. Future Lil Baby], “It Ain’t Safe”[feat. Nardo Wick & Kodak Black],“Party All The Time”[feat. Quavo Takeoff], “These Streets Know My Name”[feat. SkillibengBuju BantonCapletonBounty Killer, & Sizzla], “Keep Going” [feat. Lil Durk21 Savage, & Roddy Ricch], “Beautiful” [feat. SZA Future],  “Way Past Luck” [feat. 21 Savage], and “Jadakiss Interlude” [feat. Jadakiss].

Delivering the hip-hop event of the summer, he welcomed an A-list cohort of friends to join him for his latest magnum opus. For the first time ever, he collaborates with none other than Dr. Dre and The ICU in addition to joining forces with EminemFutureKanye WestSZA21 Savage, Lil WayneLil DurkRoddy RicchTravis ScottLattoCity GirlsKodak BlackQuavoTakeoffGunnaBounty KillerSizzlaBuju BantonSkillibengCapeltonFridayyDon ToliverJadakiss, Nardo Wick, Vory, John Legend, and the late Juice WRLD. He notably set the stage for the album with “Staying Alive” [feat. Drake Lil Baby]. It has already amassed over 185 Million audio streams and 50M views for the music video. Plus, it bowed at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, holding strong on the chart.

The anthem king has returned with GOD DID, and he delivers his biggest, boldest, and best body of work to date.

Last year, Khaled unleashed his twelfth full-length album, KHALEDKHALED [We The Best Music Group/Epic Records]. It arrived as his third #1 debut on the Billboard Top 200, sixth #1 on the Top Rap Albums Chart, and fourth #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. It also reached platinum status.

In the video, she gets dapper with her crew as she declares “that loyalty everything.”

Making her grand debut, Coi just took over New York Fashion Week. She rocked custom looks for both Moschino and Laquan Smith, and PAPER chronicled her domination this year.

To date, it has racked up over 4.2 million streams and earned widespread praise. UPROXX highlighted “variety of flows from the lilting melody of the hook to a Playboi Carti-esque, clipped cadence at the beginning of her verse,” and The Source assured “Coi Leray is keeping her hot streak going.” HotNewHipHop put it best, “she’s only concerned with things that will help her ‘elevate,’ and she’s stuck to her word.” Not to mention, she stands out as among this year’s coveted XXL “Freshman Class.”

Coi shows no signs of stopping or slowing down. It followed closely on the heels of the blockbuster music video for “BIG PURR (Prrd)” which recently earned RIAA Gold Certification.  Right out of the gate, it racked up 1.7 million views in less than a week. HipHopDX raved, “One of 2021’s hottest collaborations has an even hotter video to match its Billboard-blazing hype,” and UPROXX put it best, “Coi Leray’s 2021 is off to a fantastic start.” It’s already amassed over 40 million total streams and counting.

It soundtracked nearly 500k videos on TikTok with over 71.5 million views. The “No More Parties (Remix)” music video remains in the Top 10 most watched videos on VEVO and a fixture in mtvU’s rotation.

SHECK WES RELEASES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO “YKTS”

Harlem rapper Sheck Wes has premiered his long-awaited new single “YKTS. Released via Cactus Jack/ G.O.O.D. Music/ Interscope Records and accompanied by a wildly outlandish video, “YKTS” showcases the raw intensity and lo-fi but hard-hitting aesthetic that made Sheck a breakout star with his viral hit “Mo Bamba.

Watch the video for “YKTS” HERE.

Directed by White Trash Tyler (a filmmaker known for his work with Travis ScottKanye West, and Kodak Black) and shot on both coasts, the “YKTS” visual finds Sheck in a variety of outrageous scenarios: racing foreign cars through the California desert, buried in an avalanche of sneakers, donning crystal chandeliers as headwear. The starkly potent track’s title phrase stands for “You Know the Scouts” — a term that Sheck coined himself and quickly made essential to the cultural lexicon.

A 21-year-old first-generation American, Sheck broke through with his triple-platinum single “Mo Bamba”: a tribute to his childhood friend and Orlando Magic draft pick Mo Bamba, and a powerful portrait of survival in the inner city. Originally released in June 2017, the song went viral in early 2018, eventually reaching #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and amassing over 527 million streams on Spotify to date. In addition, the New York Times featured “Mo Bamba” in its “Diary of a Song” series, with Sheck appearing alongside his collaborators 16yrold and Take A Daytrip. Check it out HERE.

“Mo Bamba” appears on Sheck’s widely acclaimed full-length debut MUDBOY, which arrived in October of last year. Along with hitting the top 20 on the Billboard 200 chart, MUDBOY landed on the Top 50 Albums of 2018 list from on Pitchfork (who also hailed it as a “a strong and holistic statement” and “the rare project from an über-hyped rap prospect that actually delivers on its promise”).
