OZY MEDIA ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL OZY FEST FOR MAY 15-16 IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HBCUs, CLUBHOUSE

OZY Media announced that OZY Fest, its one-of-a-kind festival of great entertainment, interactive experiences and big conversations, will return on May 15-16 as a virtual event, after the 2020 festival was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Headliners include musicians Chance the Rapper, Sevyn Streeter, Big Freedia, Marc Rebillet and Kat Cunning; comedians Tig Notaro, Maz Jobrani and Aida Rodriguez; chefs Marcus Samuelsson, Tom Colicchio and Ming Tsai; thought leaders Dr. Anthony Fauci, Mark Cuban, Condoleezza Rice, Malcolm Gladwell, Jim Cramer, Revd. Al Sharpton, Deepak Chopra, Rep. Maxine Waters, Sunny Hostin, Alicia Garza, Marcus Scribner, Sophia Chang, DeRay Mckesson, Carmen Yulín Cruz, Adam Grant, Katty Kay, Matt James, Valerie Jarrett, Dr. Michael Lomax, Mariana van Zeller, Dr. Danielle Moss, Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr., Angela Benton and Carlos Watson; and sports figures Michael Vick, Stephen A Smith and CC Sabathia. The festival will be livestreamed to the Carlos Watson Show YouTube Channel, presented by OZY Media.

OZY Fest brings together the game-changers and change-makers who are ahead of their time and worthy of yours for a virtual celebration of bold change and big ideas. The festival has previously been held in New York City’s Central Park with guests including John Legend, Trevor Noah, Issa Rae, Padma Lakshmi and Joe Biden, and has been described as “TED meets Coachella” and “New York’s answer to SXSW” for its unmatched blend of thought leadership and entertainment.

The virtual festival will be streamed live, with two simultaneous virtual stages between 5pm and 9pm ET offering a combination of live music and comedy performance, thought leadership, and interactive programming. VIP tickets are available for purchase allowing access to exclusive interactive virtual offerings. OZY Fest’s partnership with new live social media platform Clubhouse will break new ground, employing the app’s private chat functionality to host VIP meet-and-greets in an intimate audio-only setting.

The theme of OZY Fest 2021 is “Reset America,” with organizers saying that it hopes to host conversations to reimagine how democracy, racial justice, education and more should work in the 21st century. OZY Media is partnering with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to provide free access to all current students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and to donate proceeds from VIP ticket sales to UNCF. UNCF CEO, Dr. Michael Lomax, is featured among OZY Fest headliners.

Spillage Village – Spilligion

Spillage Village will release its highly anticipated album “Spilligion” Friday, and they released a brand new song Monday titled “Hapi” to build excitement.

The song features the vocals of Mereba, Olu and Benji along with spoken word from Big Rube.

Clocking in at over six minutes, “Hapi” almost sounds like a sermon delivered by four different voices telling the stories of their lives, everything they’ve seen and everything they hope to see improve.

They also released the track list for the brand new album which comes with a few pleasant surprises in the form of features from Chance The Rapper, Ari Lennox, Buddy, Masego and Lucky Daye.

As “Hapi” might indicate, the song titles come from scripture and religious texts and are determined by the content and messages of the lyrics.

Today, multi-platinum, chart topping rapper/singer/songwriter/producer Doja Cat officially releases “Freak” at all digital service providers via Kemosabe/RCA Records. The track, which Doja initially uploaded to her SoundCloud last year quickly became a viral sensation on TikTok with over 1.2 million original creations. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Childish Gambino, Nicki Minaj, Erykah Badu, Justin Bieber, Megan Thee Stallion, Action Bronson, Madonna and Shawn Mendes, among others.


A celebrated arena and festival headliner, Chance has toplined Lollapalooza (Chicago and South America), Life is Beautiful, Sasquatch, LoveBox, and Summer Sonic. In 2016, Chance also produced his own festival Magnificent Coloring Day in his native Chicago. The sold-out festival, which took place at the White Sox’s Cellular One Field, set an attendance record at the park with over 47,000 attendees. The all-star lineup included performances by Kanye West and Legend as well as Alicia Keys, Common, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Skrillex, Tyler, The Creator, Lil Uzi Vert and Francis and the Lights. Global tour dates for 2020 are forthcoming.


Outside of his musical accomplishments, Chance is a rising player across film and television spaces. He recently voiced a character in the 2019 live-action reboot of The Lion King. Other acting credits include the crime comedy Slice; the Cartoon Network movie Steven Universe: The Movie, which he also executive produced; and several short films. Additionally, he served as an executive producer on the basketball documentary Shot in the Dark alongside NBA superstar Dwayne Wade. Next up, he will serve as a judge and executive producer on the unscripted Netflix series Rhythm + Flow, also starring Cardi B and T.I.

Chance is a humanitarian in his hometown of Chicago. He founded SocialWorks, a charity aiming to create programs to empower and educate youth. Its focus on education, mental health, homelessness, and performing and literary arts directly affects thousands of youth yearly. Chance has donated two million dollars to Chicago Public Schools and mental wellness access, and through SocialWorks has raised over seven million dollars for Chicago’s Youth.
