The festival will serve as the official kick-off to summer with an epic weekend that brings together a diverse group of artists across the worlds of pop, rock, hip-hop, electronic, country, and more for the first time since 2019.

For three unforgettable days, attendees will gather together on the stunning white sand beaches of Southern Alabama’s famed Gulf Shores for a community-focused festival that has become a favorite for fans and performers alike since its debut in 2010. Part music festival and part immersive travel experience, guests will also get the chance to take part in a variety of activities and events that help to make Hangout a true music vacation.

With its 2022 lineup, Hangout once again has provided something for everyone. Headliners for the three nights of the festival will be acclaimed genre-bending singer and rapper Post Malone, Australian psychedelic rock act Tame Impala, and Grammy award-winning vocalist Halsey.

Beyond the music lineup, Hangout is a one-of-a-kind experiential festival featuring stage-side VIP pools, hammocks lining the beach, majestic oceanside views, and plenty of activities for attendees including beach volleyball, disco skating at a full-sized roller rink, dance parties by the water, and much more to be announced.

Pre-sale registration for tickets to Hangout 2022 is now available on the festival’s official website. Those interested can sign-up for a limited time to take part in the December 10th presale date, while the General Onsale for the festival will take place on December 13th. 3-Day General admission tickets are $339 during the Early Bird sale and will increase to $359 after that. Guests seeking the VIP treatment can choose between two options. With the 3-Day VIP choice priced at $1,219, guests will have access to exclusive artist performances, upfront viewing areas at designated stages, a stage-side pool at the Hangout Main Stage, private air-conditioned bathrooms, a VIP Grove with complimentary cocktails, beer, wine and snacks, priority VIP entrances, and more. The 3-Day Super VIP option priced at $1,839 will include all of those amenities along with access to the viewing deck at the Hangout Stage with hot tubs, jacuzzis, and a full bar, a VIP dining room with complimentary gourmet meals prepared by award-winning chefs, golf cart shuttles to designated stages, and more.

Gulf Shores and its neighboring city of Orange Beach also offer a wide variety of places to stay including condos, homes, cottages, and hotels, as well as a mix of locally-owned restaurants offering the best in Gulf seafood. For all the details on Gulf Shores, visit their website or visit the Hangout website for lodging options and more information.

Beyond the music itself, the community aspect of Hangout remains at the core of the festival’s experience. This starts with the festival’s logo known as the “shaka,” which symbolizes the “hang loose” mantra of beach and surf culture to many with a deeper meaning that represents solidarity, friendship, compassion, respect, and mutual understanding.

This extends to every aspect of Hangout, who focus much of their attention on social and environmental responsibility along with community engagement. This includes measures related to diversity, equity & inclusion, taking steps toward environmental sustainability, and supporting local charities. More information on these actions can be found on Hangout’s website.

ALLISON PONTHIER – LATE BLOOMER

ALLISON PONTHIER’S NEW SINGLE, “LATE BLOOMER,” IS OUT TODAY

WATCH THE VISUALIZER HERE

Fresh off a tour with Lord Huron, a festival performance at Austin City Limits, and the release of her debut EP, Faking My Own Death (Interscope Records), Allison Ponthier returns with a simmering, swampy anthem for those who need a little time to come to terms with their sexuality. While her debut single, “Cowboy,” dealt with the difficulties of coming out, “Late Bloomer” portrays the process as a joyful one. Listen HERE.

“‘Late Bloomer’ is about how much fun coming out is. A lot of people describe it as going through a second puberty. You learn a lot about yourself,” explains Allison Ponthier. “That’s why when people come out, they often change how they look aesthetically. They try new things and make new friends. ‘Late Bloomer’ is really about celebrating that. It’s about the reward you get for finally being brave enough to be yourself. There’s no rush. There will always be people there who are ready for you whenever you’re ready.”

The 25-year-old Texas-born, Brooklyn-based artist wrote “Late Bloomer” with Ethan Gruska (Phoebe Bridgers, Trombone Shorty) and Dan Wilson (Adele, Leon Bridges), who also produced the song. The accompanying visualizer, which takes its inspiration from Little Shop of Horrors and “as-seen-on-TV” marketing, introduces a Muppet-like “late bloomer” plant, skilled at skateboarding, karaoke, tattoo art and more. View HERE.

“It’s basically just about being a bad boy, which I always wish I was,” she confesses.

Ponthier and Lord Huron are featured in the first video installment of Consequence of Sound’s new series, “Two for the Road,” which features conversations with artists who are touring together. View HERE. Check out their recent collaboration, “I Lied,” HERETipping Ponthier as one of the “Artists Guaranteed to Turn Heads at ACL Fest,” The Austin Chronicle said, “The touches of pop linger in a swaying haze that cabarets her country-leaning melodies, resulting in the kind of surreal Western pop that swells the sense of dislocation and uncertainty while beckoning warmly to follow.”

Growing up as a wide-eyed misfit in the Lone Star State, Ponthier dreamed of running away to New York City. When she made the move to Brooklyn at age 20, she felt out-of-place in a new way – like a goody-two-shoes Southerner in the epicenter of East Coast hipsterdom. The corresponding internal journey has inspired the string of reflective, idiosyncratic yet relatable songs found on Faking My Own Death, hailed as “stellar” by NME.

BRETT DENNEN — SEE THE WORLD

Today, acclaimed folk-pop singer/songwriter Brett Dennen releases his new album See the World available everywhere now via Mick Music. The album features 10 songs including new single “Paul Newman Daytona Rolex” and the title track, which is currently in the Top 10 at AAA and growing. It is Dennen’s fifth song to do so. Click HERE to buy/stream the album. Click HERE to watch the official lyric video for “Paul Newman Daytona Rolex.”

See the World is a blend of experiences and sometimes seeming contradictions, much like Dennen himself. Peppered in equal parts with shrewd quips and vulnerable admissions, the album is ultimately an exploration of life’s deepest meaning and a call to get out and explore. It is Dennen’s first full length studio album release on Mick Mgmt’s (Leon Bridges, Maggie Rogers, Ray Lamontagne) new frontline label, Mick Music, distributed by DashGo.

On the inspiration behind the album, Dennen shares,

“See the World is about making a choice to experience life and take a stand for things you believe in. We’ve all gone through the pandemic and evaluated our lives; there’s an opportunity now for all of us to take risks, to follow our dreams and intuitions. It’s time to see the commonalities between us. It’s time to take care of the planet as well as each other. We need to make choices about what is meaningful and what is not. All of the songs point back to these things. I hope it inspires people to live well and do good things with their lives.”

On the new lead single, “Paul Newman Daytona Rolex,” Dennen dives into his signature witticisms and sings of a sentimental attachment to a rare watch he owns. The song touches on what we value as humans ourselves with Dennen sharing, “the things you can’t put a price on should be the things you value the most…to me it’s all about self-worth and peace of mind. It’s a funky-catchy little tune that makes me feel good when I sing it.”

Dennen is currently headlining a US summer tour in support of the new album—see upcoming dates HERE and below. He will also take the stage this year at festivals across the country including BeachLife Festival, Ferdinand Folk Festival and Moon Crush.

ABOUT JOHNNY YUKON

Much like the recordings of an airplane’s black box, the music of Johnny Yukon chronicles a cloud-scraping personal journey. Spun through a jet stream of lo-fi beatcraft, vintage world-building, hip-hop malleability, and alternative pop eloquence, the Pennsylvania-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer navigates through raw emotions with acute storytelling, head-nodding rhymes, and fits of cathartic falsetto. Even though the ideas often gestate from an intimate personal studio, he projects his vision on the big screen with ambitious scope. After making waves from behind the scenes with songwriting placements for Young Thug, Ty Dolla $ign, Camila Cabello, and Leon Bridges, he made his formal artist debut with Installation I in 2018. Johnny’s influence only amplified throughout the global pandemic, co-writing Internet Money’s multi-platinum mega-smash Lemonade [feat. Gunna, Don Toliver, & NAV], Skepta & Pop Smoke’s F9 soundtrack standout Lane Switcha [feat. A$AP Rocky, Juicy J, & Project Pat], and co-producing Trauma from PARTYNEXTDOOR’s Partymobile, which bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200. Signing to Elektra in early 2021, Johnny continued to write and record at a prolific pace, distilling post-breakup feelings, isolation, and hope into the sonic architecture. Constructing a hub where his emotions and songs may launch from, Johnny Yukon charts a new course forward on his 2021 project, Flight Plan 001.

SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY

Welcome to the Jam! Basketball champion and global icon LeBron James goes on an epic adventure alongside timeless Tune Bugs Bunny with the animated/live-action event “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” from director Malcolm D. Lee and an innovative filmmaking team including Ryan Coogler and Maverick Carter. This transformational journey is a manic mashup of two worlds that reveals just how far some parents will go to connect with their kids. When LeBron and his young son Dom are trapped in a digital space by a rogue A.I., LeBron must get them home safe by leading Bugs, Lola Bunny and the whole gang of notoriously undisciplined Looney Tunes to victory over the A.I.’s digitized champions on the court: a powered-up roster of professional basketball stars as you’ve never seen them before. It’s Tunes versus Goons in the highest-stakes challenge of his life, that will redefine LeBron’s bond with his son and shine a light on the power of being yourself. The ready-for-action Tunes destroy convention, supercharge their unique talents and surprise even “King” James by playing the game their own way.

James stars alongside Oscar nominee Don Cheadle (the “Avengers” films, “Hotel Rwanda”), Khris Davis (“Judas and the Black Messiah,” TV’s “Atlanta”), Sonequa Martin-Green (TV’s “The Walking Dead,” “Star Trek: Discovery”), newcomer Cedric Joe, Jeff Bergman (“Looney Tunes Cartoons”), Eric Bauza (“Looney Tunes Cartoons”) and Zendaya (upcoming “Dune,” “Malcolm & Marie”).

Leon Bridges x Lucky Daye

Today, Grammy Award winning R&B artist and songwriter Leon Bridges and Lucky Daye release “All About You”. The sweet yet sensual, 90’s R&B inspired R&B jam was produced by Leon’s longtime collaborator Ricky Reed, and was recorded during a chance studio encounter between the two artists in Los Angeles. Listen to “All About You” here.

Regarding “All About You,” Leon says, “For this song, we set out to bring back the energy of some of the 90’s R&B greats we grew up listening to. The way Lucky and I met was completely organic. One night when I was out on the town in LA I ran into a friend of Lucky’s who suggested that we should collaborate. I was totally down but wanted our connection to be natural and chill. The day after, I was in the studio and Lucky randomly shows up. I grabbed my guitar and we tossed around some melodies and lyrics and “All About You” was born.”

Adds Ricky, “It was the last day of our session. We weren’t even trying to write anything, just finish up a tune. Then we got word Lucky was pulling up. When they first met in the studio kitchenette Leon was already holding a guitar, playing the chords. Lucky started singing, we dragged a mic over by the sink and started capturing. I fired up the drum machine. Song was done about 2 hours later. Never seen anything like it from two strangers, now friends.”

As both Leon and Lucky are visual artists, “All About You” was released with an official music video. Watch the LAMAR+NIK directed music video here. LAMAR+NIK brought “All About You” to life using a stop-motion technique known as Stratastencil. All 4,500 frames of video were printed, hand-cut and photographed frame-by-frame to achieve the tunnel effect seen throughout the video.

Prior to the release of “All About You,” Leon released the song “Sweeter” which he performed at the Democratic National Convention. Listen to “Sweeter” here. Prior to that song, Leon Bridges teamed up with John Mayer for “Inside Friend”; listen here. Leon Bridges can next be seen on NBC’s The Voice; watch his interview with Kelly Clarkson on Access Hollywood here.

Leon Bridges “Sweeter”

Leon Bridges releases his new song “Sweeter” featuring Terrace Martin sooner than anticipated with consideration to current BLM movements

Today, Grammy Award winning R&B artist and songwriter Leon Bridges releases “Sweeter” featuring Terrace Martin. The song, written from the perspective of a black man taking his last breath and feeling his spirit leave his body, was originally written and recorded for a future album, however, in light of current events, Leon and Terrace felt compelled to release the song now. You can listen to “Sweeter” on AmazonApple MusiciTunesSpotify, YouTube Music, and YouTube.

Says Leon, “Growing up in Texas I have personally experienced racism, my friends have experienced racism. From adolescence we are taught how to conduct ourselves when we encounter police to avoid the consequences of being racially profiled. I have been numb for too long, calloused when it came to the issues of police brutality. The death of George Floyd was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. It was the first time I wept for a man I never met. I am George Floyd, my brothers are George Floyd, and my sisters are George Floyd. I cannot and will not be silent any longer. Just as Abel’s blood was crying out to God, George Floyd is crying out to me. So, I present to you Sweeter.”

Adds Terrace, “It is always an honor to share a platform with my dear brother Leon Bridges. This is meditation music; it is not music for the ears but rather music for the heart. I truly believe that eyes have been deceiving us for so long but the heart always tells the truth. The heart needs to be repaired. Black folk have been deceived so many years, the only thing that can turn it around is a heart full of love.”

The lyrics of “Sweeter” tell a sadly familiar tale of racism:

Hoping for a life more sweeter,
Instead I’m just a story repeating.
Why do I fear with skin dark as night?
Can’t feel peace with those judging eyes.

I thought we moved on from the darker days.
Did the words of the King disappear in the air,
Like a butterfly?
Somebody should hand you a felony.
Because you stole from me,
My chance to be.

Hoping for a life more sweeter,
Instead I’m just a story repeating.
Why do I fear with skin dark as night?
Can’t feel peace with those judging eyes.

The tears of my Mother rain rain over me.
My sisters and my brothers sing sing over me.
And I wish I had another day, but it’s just another day.

Hoping for a life more sweeter,
Instead I’m just a story repeating.
Why do I fear with skin dark as night?
Can’t feel peace with those judging eyes.

GRAMMY-nominated duo ODESZA and groundbreaking Sydney producer Golden Features have announced their new project BRONSON with the launch of two contrasting singles “HEART ATTACK (feat. lau.ra)” and “VAULTS” out now on Foreign Family Collective and Ninja Tune. The double release serves as the primer to the trio’s forthcoming self-titled debut album, set for July 17. Both tracks offer two distinct looks into BRONSON, embracing an alternate identity for the trio in which they discovered a newfound limitlessness and ability to explore new soundscapes, free from any expectations attached to their respective projects. “HEART ATTACK” finds a weightless dreamy soundscape in lau.ra’s vocals (of Ultraísta), while “VAULTS” explores a gripping intensity by way of distorted basslines and edgier cinematic tones.

On “HEART ATTACK,” BRONSON reflects that it “was the first vocal track we worked on for the record. It was one of those ideas that came together really quickly and felt very natural while writing with lau.ra. Ultimately, it was a confluence between the two distinctive sounds of ODESZA and Golden Features. It served as a turning point in the writing process of the album and an inspiration for the other vocal tracks to come.”

Nearly three years in the making, BRONSON originally formed through the personal connection that ODESZA members Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight shared with Golden Features’ Tom Stell. Out of mutual admiration on a creative level, they formed a digital record box of shared sounds sent across time zones and continents through Dropbox files and FaceTime calls. The product of those collective efforts culminated in 2018 when the trio spent a week, in the remote reaches of Berry, Australia, recording what would later become the first BRONSON album.

Furthermore, “VAULTS” became an anchor in the writing process. As BRONSON observes, “it was one of the earlier instrumentals we completed and it acted as a cornerstone to the overall sound design and aesthetic of the album. The track really proved a departure from each artist’s own respective styles and set a definitive change in direction for the BRONSON project. We knew we had something special here and it served as a guiding light for the rest of the record.”

As the debut releases, “HEART ATTACK” and “VAULTS” are indicative of the opposing light versus dark elements that flow throughout the 10-track album. The record strikes a beautiful balance between intense, emotive instrumental-heavy tracks and cathartic, melodic vocal songs, with additional guest features from Gallant and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. An unexpected yet welcome addition includes Harrison and Tom themselves providing the vocals for “CALL OUT,” a song that lulls the listener into tranquility.

The album reflects on their respective needs to challenge personal struggles, both internal and external. Moreover, the trio recognized that their own battles were merely microcosms of the surrounding world. The hope was to craft a body of work that was reflective of that duality of lightness and darkness inherent to the human condition. The result is a project with an extraordinary profundity and universal relatability. One can connect to it on a deeply personal level and find relief, no matter what they may be confronting in their own life.

ODESZA and Golden Features have combined streaming numbers in the billions and hold multiple gold and platinum singles and albums respectively. They’ve remixed and collaborated with an array of impressive artists including Sia, Leon Bridges, Regina Spektor, Katy Perry, Charli XCX and others. Both leaders in the live circuit, they’ve cumulatively reached millions of fans on global headline tours, with ODESZA selling out massive venues including Los Angeles’ Staples Center, New York’s Barclays Center, London’s O2 Academy Brixton, as well as headlining world-famous festivals such as Coachella, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Outside Lands and Lollapalooza.
