The Fatal Attraction Murder

Oxygen, the home for high-quality true crime programming, debuts a two-night special event, The Fatal Attraction Murder, on Saturday, March 26 at 8PM ET.  Part two premieres Sunday, March 27 at 8PM ET. The special features an exclusive interview with Carolyn Warmus, as well as the Greenburgh PD investigator who worked the case from beginning to end; Westchester County, New York prosecutors; jurors; and reporters who covered the story firsthand. All reveal what they thought about the case then and how they view it now.

When Carolyn Warmus was tried for killing her lover’s wife, Betty Jeanne Solomon, the unapologetic, attractive, young elementary school teacher from a wealthy family was named “The Fatal Attraction Killer” by the press.  The moniker, borrowed from the popular film due to the stunning similarities between the movie and the trial, was a label Warmus couldn’t shake.  The story of an affair that seemingly led to murder was a sensation, quickly garnering front-page news status and relentless coverage across television.  Reporters from around the world descended on Westchester County to scrutinize every word of testimony, every nuance of Warmus’ body language, and every detail of her wardrobe.

Throughout the in-depth special, Warmus, who never testified in her own defense on the advice of her counsel, shares her truth. She has always maintained her innocence.  With no physical evidence to support her guilt, those who investigated the case and worked to secure her conviction offer the circumstantial evidence that led to Warmus’ sentence.

Viewers are left to decide for themselves if justice was ultimately served.  Was Warmus the unwitting pawn in a setup to distract police from the actual killer, or was she the obsessive femme fatale who murdered in cold blood?

“The Fatal Attraction Murder” is produced by Entertainment One (eOne) with Tara Long, Geno McDermott, and Ben Megargel serving as executive producers along with Lorri Leighton, who also directs. Steve Lee Jones serves as executive producer for Bee Holder Productions.

The Silent Sea – Netflix

By: Kai Yeo

Korean dramas have been popular, but it seems like they are even more on the rise in 2021. Ahem, Squid Game. K-dramas are known for their high production value, character arcs and engrossing storylines. While most of them are only 16-20 episodes, quality acting allows the audience to build a connection and become emotionally invested.

Looking for something to binge over the holidays? Part of the Top 10 trending shows on Netflix is a K-drama titled The Silent Sea. A Netflix original, sci-fi series that has been catching global attention, and is already at a 70% score less than a week after release. On top of positive reviews, the fascinating plot has been all the buzz on film socials. Before you start this series, you probably want to know the gist of what it is about – we got you covered.

The Silent Sea

The Silent Sea narrates the story of an earth that has been ravaged by drought, and a large crew must travel to an abandoned base on the moon to retrieve a sample. This sample supposedly contains what will save the world… but we are not quite sure what it is yet. Watch the trailer here.

The Synopsis via Netflix:

“During a perilous 24-hour mission on the moon, space explorers try to retrieve samples from an abandoned research facility steeped in classified secrets.”

Will they ever return to Earth? What lies ahead on their mission? So many questions and no answers, you’ll just have to tune in to find out. What we do know, though, is the stellar cast in this new release. Starting with the instantly recognizable leads: Train to Busan’s Gong Yoo and Sense8’s Bae Doona, acting as the caption of the mission and lead scientist respectively.

If you’ve been keeping up with the Korean film industry, most of these other actors might also be familiar to you:

With such a big crew, many unprecedented things happen, but The Silent Sea provides a lot of mystery and interesting plot twists by the end. While saying anything more would include spoilers, it was certainly a wild ride. A refined production that will be high on our sci-fi list for a little bit.

ABOUT JOHNNY YUKON

Much like the recordings of an airplane’s black box, the music of Johnny Yukon chronicles a cloud-scraping personal journey. Spun through a jet stream of lo-fi beatcraft, vintage world-building, hip-hop malleability, and alternative pop eloquence, the Pennsylvania-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer navigates through raw emotions with acute storytelling, head-nodding rhymes, and fits of cathartic falsetto. Even though the ideas often gestate from an intimate personal studio, he projects his vision on the big screen with ambitious scope. After making waves from behind the scenes with songwriting placements for Young Thug, Ty Dolla $ign, Camila Cabello, and Leon Bridges, he made his formal artist debut with Installation I in 2018. Johnny’s influence only amplified throughout the global pandemic, co-writing Internet Money’s multi-platinum mega-smash Lemonade [feat. Gunna, Don Toliver, & NAV], Skepta & Pop Smoke’s F9 soundtrack standout Lane Switcha [feat. A$AP Rocky, Juicy J, & Project Pat], and co-producing Trauma from PARTYNEXTDOOR’s Partymobile, which bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200. Signing to Elektra in early 2021, Johnny continued to write and record at a prolific pace, distilling post-breakup feelings, isolation, and hope into the sonic architecture. Constructing a hub where his emotions and songs may launch from, Johnny Yukon charts a new course forward on his 2021 project, Flight Plan 001.

At the scene of every crime is a story of a time, the place, and its people. This six-part series steps back in time to examine the most gruesome and compelling murder mysteries of the past 200 years, viewed through the lens of the eras and cities in which they took place. Through cinematic reenactments, we follow the determined investigators and complex perpetrators while revealing how each case made its own mark on history.

They happened in times of war and peace, during daylight and darkness, and to victims old and young. These are the stories of the most heinous murders of the 19th and 20th centuries, some which have faded from memory and others that continue to haunt their host cities to this day. LOGIC SET TO DROP HIS DEBUT NOVEL “SUPERMARKET” NEXT WEEK!

On Sale March 26, 2019

“Bobby Hall has crafted a mind-bending first novel, with prose that is just as fierce and moving as his lyrics. Supermarket is like Naked Lunch meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest—if they met at Fight Club.” —Ernest Cline, #1 New York Times Bestselling author of Ready Player One

From one of the greatest creative voices of this generation, Bobby Hall—aka Logic, the Grammy-nominated and platinum-selling recording artist—comes a dazzling debut novel: SUPERMARKET (Simon & Schuster; Publication Date: March 26, 2019). With this publication, Bobby Hall proves that his incredible artistic talents extend far beyond the walls of a recording studio.

SUPERMARKET is a fresh, funny, and deliciously dark thriller that stands on its own as a propulsive and entertaining excursion into madness and creativity.

SUPERMARKET opens with Flynn: depressed, recently dumped, and living at his mom’s house. When he gets a job at Muldoon’s, the local supermarket, he hopes that his boring suburban existence will get a spark of inspiration. A diverse group of eccentric coworkers await him. As Flynn gets accustomed to his new gig and makes some friends, his creative juices start to bubble again—just what he needed to jumpstart his novel based on the people he meets on the job. He even finds himself falling for a colleague who may restore his faith in love.

When Flynn arrives at work one day to a crime scene, he discovers that nothing about the supermarket is what it appeared to be, and the secrets of his tortured mind are revealed as his world collapses. Something seems to be after him at the supermarket, but Flynn isn’t sure that he wants to confront it.

Crackling with dark humor, extraordinary twists, and larger than life characters, SUPERMARKET is a compulsively readable thriller with echoes of work by Quentin Tarantino, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. Bobby Hall flexes his tirelessly creative muscles to create a world that feels so real, you believe you can reach out and touch it. Who knew that you could find sex, drugs, and murder all in aisle nine?

This is the third installment of the hit “Disappearance of…” franchise, following the previous cases of Natalee Holloway and Maura Murray. What begins as an exploration into the mysterious circumstances surrounding Crystal Rogers, a mother of five vanishing from the tiny town of Bardstown, Kentucky, quickly spirals into the dissection of multiple unsolved homicides haunting this idyllic, heartland community. Presumed dead and the victim of foul play, it has been over two years and there have been no arrests made in Crystal’s case. Additionally, Crystal’s father, Tommy Ballard, who was conducting his own 16-month investigation into his daughter’s disappearance, was shot down and died, leaving a box of clues behind. This series will follow Emmy Award-nominated reporter Stephanie Bauer and veteran homicide detective Dwayne Stanton, who has worked on celebrity cases and more than 750 homicide investigations, as they relentlessly unearth new leads, insights and information. For a sneak peek, visit http://www.oxygen.com/the-disappearance-of-crystal-rogers/season-1/videos/the-disappearance-of-crystal-rogers-premieres.

Stephanie and Dwayne recruit several experts to help dig deep into the mysterious and potentially connected unsolved crimes in Bardstown. Together, they’ll draw on Dwayne’s many years of hard earned experience, Stephanie’s relentless quest for answers and the many clues that Tommy Ballard left behind when his investigation was suddenly and violently cut short. Additionally, they’ll need to tread carefully so as not to interfere with the open investigation being conducted by the Kentucky State Police. The authorities acknowledge that having so many unsolved crimes in such a small town is atypical; the question remains, what secrets lie just underneath in Bardstown?

OXYGEN’S SNAPPED x AILEEN WUORNOS

America’s first female serial killer, Aileen Wuornos, captivated the nation’s attention when she was found guilty for brutally murdering six men, and confessing to a seventh between November 1989 to November 1990. In the two-hour “Snapped: Notorious – Aileen Wuornos,” premiering Sunday, March 25th at 6pm ET/PT, Oxygen Media takes a closer look at the turbulent trial that was the first of its kind. Was Aileen Wournos afforded a just trial, or did the media frenzy cause unfair bias among the jury? For a sneak peek, please visit here.

Aileen Wuornos was a self-professed “highway prostitute” who rose to infamy when she was arrested for the deaths of several men in central Florida. Aileen ultimately confessed to the killings as self-defense, but the jury unanimously convicted her on six counts of first degree murder and sentenced her to death. The special will uncover everything from the complexities of the case to the biased media reports. Through new interviews with those closest to Aileen and her trial, the special will delve deeper into two vastly different perspectives – was she the cold-blooded killer the country made her out to be? Or was she an abuse victim that was forced to protect herself?
