Origin of a Villain in New Marvel Series: KANG THE CONQUERER

This August, it’s time to tell the definitive origin story of one of Marvel’s greatest villains: Kang the Conqueror! Announced earlier today on the This Week in Marvel podcast, the Avengers and Fantastic Four foe will star in his first ever solo series that will tackle the complex saga behind the universe’s most fearsome time-travelling menace. KANG THE CONQUERER will be written by Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, the popular writing duo known for their work on Joyride, Green Arrow, and Star Trek: Year Five, with art by Carlos Magno (Avengers Mech Strike). Together, this all-star creative team will unravel Kang’s enormous legacy from his expansive backstory to his various alternate selves, tying everything together and catapulting him into his biggest era yet.

The new series will be a love letter to True Believers who treasure the complicated tapestry behind the saga of Kang, while also serving as a perfect entry point for fans eager to learn the fascinating lore behind one of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s most iconic creations. Like many other series starring villains, it’s bound to be intriguing, offering a new look into a complicated character!

The man called Kang the Conqueror has been a pharaoh, a villain, a warlord of the space ways, and even—on rare occasions—a hero. Across all timelines, one fact seemed absolute: Time means nothing to Kang the Conqueror. But the truth, like with many Marvel villains, is more complex. Kang is caught in an endless cycle of creation and destruction dictated by time and previously unseen by any but the Conqueror himself. A cycle that could finally explain the enigma that is Kang. And a cycle that begins and ends with an old and broken Kang sending his younger self down a dark path.

ABC’S LOCALISH ANNOUNCES ‘OUTstanding’

Localish introduces a limited digital series OUTstanding” executive produced and hosted by award-winning “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson on Localish.com on Tuesday, Dec. 8.

The limited series consists of five episodes focusing on LGBTQ individuals throughout the country making major contributions to their communities. Grounded in its mission to bring out the good in cities across America, each episode will highlight resilient and inspiring LGBTQ individuals ranging from a gay couple adopting a teenager during the COVID-19 pandemic and a bisexual country singer/songwriter to a business owner/winemaker and local activists who are unapologetically “OUTstanding.”

“These people have been inspirations in their own communities for years and I can’t wait for more people to get to know them,” said Michael Koenigs, executive producer of the Localish Network. “Their remarkable lives and uplifting stories are just the thing we need right now!”

“Jesse has been such a tireless advocate for LGBTQ issues over the years and brought so much personal energy to this project,” continued Koenigs. “By featuring extraordinary LGBTQ families in all different corners of this country, we’re excited to inspire audiences with real examples of leaders trailblazing more inclusive paths in their communities.”

With producers based in major cities across the U.S., Localish worked with Ferguson to identify and remotely film LGBTQ individuals who faced major challenges, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their lives.

“The pandemic forced us to rethink our approach to production, but it didn’t dampen our enthusiasm for telling amazing stories that make us proud of our neighbors,” added Koenigs.

In addition to streaming on Localish’s digital-owned platform Localish.com, the series will post one episode a week on Localish’s social platforms with cross-promotion on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s social media platforms @jessetyler on both Instagram and Twitter, and on ABC Owned Television Stations’ 32 connected TV apps across Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV and Roku.

Episodes include the following:

  • Episode 1 – Record-Breaking Zoom Adoption:  The Beanblossoms fostered their now-son Michael for a year before adopting him, during the pandemic, in what became the biggest Zoom adoption ever. During this time, the  Beanblossoms lost their home in a fire and now look to the future to build a new house that meets the needs of their growing family.
  • Episode 2 Queer Country Star:  Sarah Shook grew up in a fundamentalist Christian family rural in North Carolina where she was only allowed to listen to classical and worship music. Shook identifies as bisexual and is politically active in supporting LGBT and civil rights causes. Sarah Shook formed a country band, the Disarmers, with an outspoken message for all.
  • Episode 3 Formerly Homeless Activist: Young, Black, gay and homeless, TyRon Jackson used to think he didn’t matter. Now his work speaks for itself.  His nonprofit Operation Warm Wishes (OWW) has been giving back to those in need for 13 years. Unbeknownst to him, his community has come together to surprise him with a life-changing gift.
  • Episode 4 Trailblazing Winemaker: Winemaker Krista Scruggs has a history of defying expectations. She’s a young, queer Black woman who has chosen to make wine in Vermont that is uniquely made from biodynamically farmed grapes, sometimes co-fermented with foraged apples to create a singular hybrid style. After founding her own label, Zafa Wines, one of her first bottlings, a provocatively named sparkler called Jungle Fever, sold out quickly in its 2017 debut. She was quickly recognized in the industry as a wine wunderkind.
  • Episode 5 – Meet the Chicken Lady:  Ken Thomason was born in rural Indiana where there was a church on every street corner. Feeling displaced in a small city, Ken moved to California where he met his first best friend who later sadly passed away of AIDS. Before his death, Ken’s best friend gifted him a chicken plush toy. In his honor Ken rode in a week-long fundraiser bike ride, the AIDS LifeCycle, from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Thus Ken’s alter ego The Chicken Lady was hatched.

Joining the team behind “OUTstanding” include Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Justin Mikita, Amy Rice, Craig Gartner, and Michael Koenigs as executive producers, Chris Casey as production manager, Georgia Krause as producer, and Elie Sokoloff as editorial producer.

Ant-Man

Announced at MCM Comic Con London, Ant-Man is set to make a major comeback this February with a new series that will have the entire Marvel Universe buzzing! Zeb Wells and Dylan Burnett join forces to tell a tale that will take Ant-Man from the anthill to the world stage.

Known for his lively humor and slick dialogue on books like NOVA and AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, Zeb Wells is the perfect fit for the wisecracking former thief and is ready to infuse Ant-Man with his trademark wit. “Dylan Burnett, Mike Spicer and I are out to put the ant in Ant-Man, turn over some rocks and craft a bug-forward tale that starts small and spins into a world-spanning adventure,” said Wells. “And you know Stinger (Cassie Lang) is coming along for the ride.”

Throughout this journey, Ant-Man will not only have to prove himself as a hero, but as a parent to his daughter Cassie Lang as well. A Super Hero herself, Cassie will be joining her dad as Stinger as the father/daughter duo embark on this bug-filled quest together, along with many of your other favorite Marvel Super Heroes!

Celebrities Show Support at final E-Prix

Natalie Dormer, David Gandy and Mark Strong amongst the celebrities New York City Formula E-Prix

Celebrities including Natalie Dormer, David Gandy, Taron Egerton and Mark Strong joined the Panasonic Jaguar Racing team in the pit lanes, to show their support at the last ABB FIA Formula E Championship race of the season.

‘Game of Thrones’ star and screenwriter of the anticipated feature film ‘In Darkness’, Natalie Dormer, spent the day at the New York City E-Prix – joining drivers Mitch Evans and Nelson Piquet Jr on the grid just before the Jaguar I-TYPE raced around the streets of Brooklyn.

She was one of a host of other motorsport enthusiasts who attended the race meeting, including models David Gandy and Oliver Cheshire, as well as British actors Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and Rupert Friend.

Mark Strong took time out to speak about his upcoming film ‘Shazam!’, and his role in a new series called ‘Temple’ which will feature on Sky Atlantic in the UK. Taron Egerton also shared news on his latest movie, where he’s set to play Elton John in ‘Elton John’s Life in 3 Weeks’.

It doesn’t matter what you’re selling – if you know your client and your product, a good salesperson can sell anything to anyone, and no one exemplifies this better than Ryan Serhant, the leader of one of the top real estate teams in the United States. In this new series, Ryan answers the call of struggling salespeople across multiple industries who are on the brink of losing their jobs and are desperate for his expertise. With some tough love and humor, Ryan will give underperforming employees a head-to-toe business overhaul and turn them into sales machines.

In each episode, Ryan takes a deep dive into each protégé’s world, using every trick in the book to become their bootcamp instructor, friend, teacher and even customer, to help them reach their full potential. Meet Ryan Serhant

Ryan Serhant’s first day in the real estate business was on September 15, 2008, the day Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy in the wake of the subprime mortgage collapse. While the real estate sector has slowly recovered, Serhant has become one of the most successful brokers in the world, with agents under his leadership in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami and the Hamptons. Ryan is known to audiences all over the world as one of the stars of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing: New York. Serhant is recognized as a real estate powerhouse. His team at Nest Seekers International sold just under $1B in real estate in 2017 and consistently ranks in the top five real estate teams nationwide in the Wall Street Journal Real Trends annual review, with Serhant consistently the youngest team leader in the top ten. As a real estate expert he is a frequent contributor to CNN, CNBC, The Today Show and Bloomberg TV, and is often quoted in The New York Times, Forbes, and the Wall Street Journal.
