Marvel’s Squirrel Girl: The Unbeatable Radio Show

It’s time to kick butts and eat nuts! Marvel Entertainment and SiriusXM announced their newest original scripted podcast, Marvel’s Squirrel Girl: The Unbeatable Radio Show!, is now available on all platforms.

The six-episode podcast series is written by Ryan North, directed by Giovanna Sardelli, and has original music by Justin Huertas and Steven Tran. The series stars Milana Vayntrub as Squirrel Girl and features performances by Crystal Lucas Perry (Nancy Whitehead), Leo Sheng (Koi Boi), Davied Morales (Chipmunk Hunk), Peter Hermann (Brain Drain), Erica Schroeder (Tippy T. Squirrel), and Tina Benko (Rachel Oskar).

Squirrel Girl has taken down Thanos and Doctor Doom—but now she faces something far more terrifying… living authentically. The new series follows Empire State University college student Doreen Green, who has recently been outed as a superhero—The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl! Hoping to unify her personas in the public eye, Squirrel Girl has created a new student radio show on ESU’s own college station. With the help of her best girl-friend, Nancy Whitehead, as producer, and her best squirrel-friend, Tippy-Toe in the booth; Doreen is ready to help more people than ever with her greatest superhero advice. And when the going gets rough, she can always lean on her heroic friends: Iron Man, Spider-Man, Chipmunk Hunk, Koi Boi, and Brain Drain.

However, with a call-in show comes caller anonymity and not all the folks on the line want help—some want to commit crime! When a suspicious caller wreaks havoc on New York City, Squirrel Girl and her friends will have to put their heroics to the test and prove that once and for all Doreen Green is the UNBEATABLE Squirrel Girl.

On the series, writer Ryan North says, “For me, a lot of the fun of the project initially was getting to work in a new medium, one where everything that happened had to be communicated through sound. Of course, once we started recording, my favorite part was hearing the actors bring these characters to life. Milana and Crystal are Doreen and Nancy, and the way Leo and Davied and Peter brought Koi Boi, Chipmunk Hunk, and Brain Drain to life was just exceptional.” North continues, “The podcast continues right where the comics left off, so long-time fans will feel instantly at home, but it’s also built for new people who maybe have never encountered the world of the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl before.”

This is not North’s first foray into writing Squirrel Girl. His comic series, THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL, had a four-year run and garnered a devoted fan following. Like the comics, the podcast series has Squirrel Girl’s same uber-positive, fun-loving tone that fans have come to know and love. And for fans who want even more of Doreen Green, North wrote an all-new Squirrel Girl vertical comic tie-in which launches today on Marvel Unlimited. The SQUIRREL GIRL one-shot, which is a prequel to the podcast, is now available on the app in the exclusive Infinity Comics format.

The series is produced in association with Radio Point by Bernie Kaminski from Radio Point and Brad Barton, MR Daniel, Zachary Goldberg, and Larissa Rosen from Marvel. It’s executive produced by Alex Bach and Houston Snyder from Radio Point and Dan Buckley, Joe Quesada, Daniel Fink, Lorraine Cink, Stephen Wacker, Ellie Pyle, and Jill DuBoff from Marvel.

The first episode of Marvel’s Squirrel Girl: The Unbeatable Radio Show! is available now on all podcast platforms. Fans can also get early access to next week’s episode starting today via the SXM App or by subscribing to Marvel Podcasts Unlimited on Apple Podcasts, which also has exclusive bonus content! Future episodes will be available exclusively via the SXM App and Marvel Podcasts Unlimited for one week before being available widely on Pandora, Stitcher, and all major podcast platforms in the U.S. Learn more at HERE.

MARVEL’S WASTELANDERS: BLACK WIDOW

The next chapter of Marvel’s Wastelanders scripted podcast series is set to premiere on Monday, January 10. Marvel’s Wastelanders: Black Widow was announced on December 20, 2021, by Marvel Entertainment and SiriusXM.

The story of Marvel’s Wastelanders: Black Widow is set 30 years following The Day the Villains Won (also referred to as V-Day). Helen Black arrives to what used to be known as Midtown Manhattan at her new apartment The Onar. The Onar is a 161-story apartment complex owned and operated by S.H.I.E.LD., exemplifying capital and inequality that has inhabited New York City since V-Day. The most elite families live in the highest ten stories of the Onar, also known as the DecaDomes. Helen resides in what is known as “100 Block.” Helen suggests that she moved to the area due to “problems with an ex…”.

Lisa Cartwright starts her first day as a Junior Residential Security Analyst for Panopticog Solutions, a private security company hired by S.H.I.E.L.D. that watches over the residents of The Onar, the same day that Helen moves into the apartment. Lisa’s job includes monitoring Helen’s section of The 100 Block, and she uncovers that Helen is not who she says she is. Listen to the series teaser HERE.

The 10-episode scripted podcast Marvel’s Wastelanders: Black Widow stars Susan Sarandon as Helen Black, including performances by Eva Amurri, Nate Corddry, Amber Gray, Melissa Gilbert, Chasten Harmon, Michael Imperioli and Justin Kirk. The series is written by Alex Delyle, directed by Timothy Busfield and features sound design and original music by Daniel Brunelle.

The series will be available on the SXM App and Marvel Podcasts Unlimited on Apple Podcasts at first. Episodes will then be available on week after on Pandora, Stitcher and all major podcast platforms in the U.S. Learn more at marvel.com/wastelanders.

X Ambassadors – The Beautiful Liar

Today, multi-platinum-selling rock band X Ambassadors released their third studio album The Beautiful Liar. On The Beautiful Liar, X Ambassadors pay homage to the supernatural radio dramas and books-on-tape brothers Sam Nelson Harris and Casey Harris listened to as kids – sharing a selection of songs that together tell the tale of a blind teenage girl discovering her long-dormant superpowers. X Ambassadors augmented the album’s storytelling component by weaving in a series of interludes that propel its wildly original plot forward. Featuring previously released singles “Adrenaline,” “Okay,” and “My Own Monster,” The Beautiful Liar is available now at all digital retailers via KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records.

“For the The Beautiful Liar I wanted to make an album that felt as unhinged as I did, and as the whole world felt around me,” says Sam Nelson Harris. “So Adam, Casey and I carved ourselves a space where we could all be as ugly, weird, funny, and fucked up as we wanted to be. We made the whole album unequivocally ours with the help of our incredible producer Andrew Wells, co-producers Tommy English, Ricky Reed, Nate Merceau, songwriters K.Flay and Andrew Jackson. I hope this album freaks you out, makes you cry, makes you laugh, and makes you feel a little less alone.”

Earlier this week QCODE, a premium leading content studio and podcast network, announced that X Ambassadors singer/writer/producer Sam Nelson Harris has co-created a new podcast, The Beautiful Liar, which he will also star in and produce alongside Interscope Records. Schitt’s Creek’s Emily Hampshire will voice the role of “Shadow” and serve as an executive producer on the podcast as well. This superhero origin story will serve as a companion piece to X Ambassadors’ new album of the same name. The first episode will be available on October 20 on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever podcasts are available with new episodes released each Wednesday. Listen to the podcast trailer.

The idea for The Beautiful Liar podcast was first conceived by brothers and bandmates Sam and Casey Harris who wanted to create an audio drama inspired by superhero comic books about a blind character and her superpowers. Structured by co-creator Minnie Schedeen, the story and format is deeply personal to the Harris brothers. Casey has been blind since birth and the two grew up listening to audiobooks and radio dramas together.

Also released today is a music video for the song “Beautiful Liar.” Partnering with Mathematic, a Paris-based VFX, animation and motion design studio, Sam and the band create a comic book-esque video that ties together the worlds of the new album and the new podcast. Watch the video for new song Beautiful Liar.

Tickets are on sale now for the band’s The Beautiful Liar tour which kicks off October 15th in San Diego, CA at HOB, and will hit North America this fall with dates planned for Europe in early 2022. Scarypoolparty and Taylor Janzen will open the show on all North American dates. For a complete list of dates and to purchase tickets visit here.

Audio Chateau × 24kGoldn – Warriors Freestyle

Bay Area native 24kGoldn is having a breakout year with his smash hit “Mood,” which spent eight weeks atop the Billboard 100. After releasing his debut album El Dorado, 24kGoldn is putting his voice and talent to a new theme song created for his beloved six-time NBA Champion Golden State Warriors to anchor their new Beyond28 podcast.  The track, titled “Warriors’ Freestyle,” will open the new, monthly podcast, which extends the conversation around Black History Month outside the confines of February to celebrate Black History year-round. “Warriors’ Freestyle” was written by 24kGoldn and production collective Audio Chateau, and was produced by Audio Chateau (Jared Gutstadt x Kinder). Listen to the track HERE.

Created by the Golden State Warriors and Goodby Silverstein & Partners (GS&P), in partnership with Chase and podcast studio and audio entertainment producers, Audio Up, the Beyond28 podcast made its official debut on April 21 with series host and narrator, ESPN’s Marc J. Spears.  Featuring an array of notable figures, artists, activists and community members, new episodes will premiere once a month over the course of the next year, with each episode taking on a new theme. In the latest May episode, the show discusses topics surrounding mental health for Mental Health Awareness Month.

The podcast is a continuation of the Beyond28 platform, which was established by the Golden State Warriors and GS&P in February of 2020. The initial launch included a short film featuring Stephen Curry flipping through a calendar and exclaiming with each turn of the page, stating: “This is Black History Month. And so is this.” Since then, Beyond28’s goal has been to extend Black History Month into a yearlong celebration beyond the 28 days of February. While continuing to honor trailblazers who have helped shape Black history, Beyond28 also strives to acknowledge today’s important Black History makers as well as those who have made a significant impact within their community. The Beyond28 podcast will continue all year long, providing a thoughtful conversation and embodying the Warriors’ desire to celebrate the contributions of the Black community every day.

The Beyond28 podcast is available now wherever podcasts are available. “Warriors’ Freestyle” from 24kGoldn and Audio Chateau is available on all streaming platforms now.
