Carmen Deleon × Cali Y El Dandee

Rising Latin pop sensation Carmen DeLeon teams up with Colombian pop-urban brother duo Cali y El Dandee on her new single, Pasado, released today by Capitol Music Group and Universal Music Latin Entertainment, Pasado (which means past) sets DeLeon’s gorgeously raw vocals to a powerfully swinging beat. Cali y El Dandee add a poignant, soulful verse. To date, Cali y El Dandee, Alejandro Rengifo and Mauricio Rengifo, have amassed more than five billion combined streams and exceeded 10.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Their YouTube channel has generated more than 2.4 billion views.

Mauricio Rengifo and Andres Torres, who have produced multi-Platinum hits like Luis Fonsi’s Despacito; produced the track. Download / stream Pasado (feat. Cali y El Dandee) HERE.

Carmen DeLeon recalls, “Pasado was written with my friends Mauricio, Alejandro, and Andres and was inspired by a breakup with my boyfriend. I was no longer in a relationship with him but was reliving the times I had with him in the past and wondered what it would be like to be with him again. The song tells the story of being okay with missing that person, while reassuring the listener to be with a person that will really love and respect you.”.

Cali y El Dandee add, “We are delighted to have collaborated with Carmen. She has a tremendous voice we can’t wait for the world to see her talent.

Pasado follows DeLeon’s early 2021 single, Cafecito, a bittersweet track that she wrote in memory of her grandfathers, and Juegas, her collaboration with acclaimed Colombian artist FEID. Upon its release, Juegas was featured on numerous NMFs across Spotify and has now amassed more than two million combined global streams. Billboard, which named DeLeon as one of 20 Latina Artists to Discover Before 2020 Ends, noted, “Juegas is a medium-tempo reggae/pop charmer; If this is going to be DeLeon’s brand of pop, we’ll happily take it.”.

The nineteen-year-old artist recently joined three-time GRAMMY-winner Ne-Yo on Shake, a dance-floor anthem from DJ/producer L.L.A.M.A., who was recently introduced by Universal Music Group’s Astralwerks label and the LEGO Group. View the official video for Shake HERE.

Born in Venezuela and now based in Miami, DeLeon has amassed over four million streams since she released her debut single, Volveras less than a year ago. Wonderland noted, “Sharing her struggles with anxiety, the highs and lows of these uncertain times and how it’s okay not to be okay, DeLeon brings her Latin roots to the fore on the laid-back tune, reminding us all exactly why she’s a force to be reckoned with”; Euphoria said, Carmen DeLeon commands the world as her stage with fiery gusto and an undeniable sense of positivity.

Carmen DeLeon releases new single X video – Juegas

Carmen DeLeon is joined by acclaimed Colombian artist FEID on her new single, “Juegas,” a playful, romantic ode to the start of a new relationship.

View “Juegas” Official Video HERE

Paired with a pop-infused beat, the song’s lyrics evoke the “butterflies in the stomach” deeling that are a hallmark of infatuation. Listen to “Juegas,” which was released today by Capitol Music Group and Universal Music Latin Entertainment, HERE.

Earlier this month, FEID received TWO 2020 LATIN GRAMMY nominations for BEST REGGAETON PERFORMANCE and BEST URBAN MUSIC ALBUM, both recognizing the success of his collaboration with Justin Quiles on PORFA and his breakthrough album, FERXXO (VOL. 1: M.O.R.).

“Juegas” is the follow-up to “Volver,” the summer 2020 single that launched Carmen DeLeon’s career. She and FEID wrote the new song with Maxium, Mista Bombo, Leon Yamil and Jonathan Tobas. It was produced by Maxium, Mista Bombo and Leon Yamil.

“Juegas” is as authentic as it comes, especially when DeLeon describes what she draws inspiration from and how she puts pen to paper.

Carmen DeLeon says, “I wrote “Juegas” one night in Miami around one a.m. with one of my best friends. I wanted to write a love song that focused on the need to give and receive in a relationship. To me, that’s the best part of living life with a partner. I hope that people feel inspired when they hear this song and understand the importance of giving and receiving.”

Directed and produced by Gian Rivera (aka “Death of Gian”), who helmed Feid‘a video for “PORFA (Remix),” the official video for “Juegas” was shot in Miami and is infused with the kind of energy and enthusiasm that is characteristic of DeLeon’s style and artistic sensibility. Much like the theme of reciprocity that DeLeon highlights, the song’s combination of vibrant beat, melody and lyrics remind listeners that music is the ultimate antidote. Watch the video HERE.

Volver,” Carmen DeLeon’s debut single, has already amassed more than 800,000 combined global streams. It was produced by Tainy, the Puerto Rican mastermind who’s been responsible for some of the biggest hits in reggaeton and trap. In a few short months, DeLeon has grown a considerable following on her social channels, with 30,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and more than two million views on her YouTube channel. Born in Venezuela, she is now based in Miami.

Euphoria said, “Carmen DeLeon commands the world as her stage with fiery gusto and an undeniable sense of positivity. Further proving her right as music’s next breath of fresh air, the spry 19-year-old artist masters the microphone with “Volver,” a fiery ode to budding passion and power.”

Wonderland noted, “Sharing her struggles with anxiety, the highs and lows of these uncertain times and how it’s okay not to be okay, DeLeon brings her Latin roots to the fore on the laid-back tune, reminding us all exactly why she’s a force to be reckoned with.”

Praising the sing-along banger, Idolator declared, “Carmen DeLeon needs to be on your pop radar.”

It’s Raining Men – A Promising Young Woman Edition

DeathbyRomy’s take on “It’s Raining Men” – the iconic No. 1 dance anthem originally released by The Weather Girls in 1982 – is out today. Listen HERE. Paul Jabara and Paul Shaffer wrote the song, which was nominated for a  GRAMMY®. “It’s Raining Men” is one of two songs that DeathbyRomy recorded exclusively for the Promising Young Woman: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Variety has already predicted an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for “Come and Play with Me,” the Los Angeles-based artist’s other contribution to the soundtrack. Twenty-year-old singer/songwriter DeathbyRomy pours both pain and euphoria into her catchy yet dark music, pitting electronic melodies and propulsive beats against hypnotic vocals and deeply personal lyrics. She made her Capitol Records debut last fall with the EP Love u – to Death.

Focus Features will release the Sundance hit Promising Young Woman on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2020 in theaters domestically. IndieWire noted, “The film is filled with inspired soundtrack choices – a strings-heavy take on Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ teases before it reveals itself at the perfect moment, and an amusing use of an ‘It’s Raining Men’ cover sells Fennell’s pitch-black sense of humor early on.” Idolator said, “As for the soundtrack, there’s so much to love.”

Those who pre-order the 18-track collection in digital format will instantly receive “It’s Raining Men” plus Donna Missal’s interpretation of Cigarettes After Sex’s 2012 breakthrough single,  “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby,” and Cyn’s “Drinks.”

Cyn’s original song “Drinks” has amassed over 20 million global streams. Billie Eilish added it to her Apple Music radio show, “me & dad radio.” Naming “Drinks” a “Song You Need To Know,” Rolling Stone hailed it as “insanely catchy.” The Mixed Drinks Collection” features the stripped version of “Drinks” and remixes from quartet of renowned producers, all female – MNDR, NERVO, Uffie, and Ladyhawke. uDiscoverMusic said, “[Donna Missal’s] silky vocals stand out against the moody, synth-driven production [on ‘Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby’].”

The film’s director and writer, Emerald Fennell, also served as Executive Soundtrack Producer, teaming up with music supervisor Sue Jacobs and Capitol Records to create what The Daily Beast describes as “a pop music soundtrack that could only be described as glorious.” Vice observed, “[Promising Young Woman] expertly uses femme pop songs to underscore its critically acclaimed twisted tale of trauma and revenge.” Billboard praised Anthony Willis’ “chilling orchestral arrangement of ‘Toxic,’” which can be heard in the film’s new trailer. View HERE.

The soundtrack also features previously unreleased tracks from Muna and Blessus plus Carmen DeLeon’s cover of the Gerry Goffin-Carole King penned “He Hit Me (And It Felt Like A Kiss”). Charli XCX’s “Boys,” Paris Hilton’s “Stars Are Blind,” Sky Ferreira’s “Downhill Lullaby” and Juice Newton’s “Angel of the Morning” are among the previously released tracks that Fennell employs to subvert the audience’s expectations over the course of the film. Other featured artists include Maya B and Lily & Madeleine.

Synopsis

Premiering to huge acclaim in Sundance earlier this year, PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN is directed and written by Emerald Fennell (Killing Eve) and stars Academy Award®-nominee Carey Mulligan and Bo Burnham along with an ensemble cast that includes Laverne Cox, Alison Brie, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Max Greenfield, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chris Lowell, Sam Richardson, Molly Shannon, and Clancy Brown.  Fennell produced along with Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara for LuckyChap Entertainment and Ben Browning and Ashley Fox for FilmNation Entertainment.

Promising Young Woman Soundtrack

On December 4, Capitol Records will release the Promising Young Woman: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The soundtrack is already generating a buzz, with Variety predicting Oscar nominations for Best Original Song for three of its tracks. This album’s release precedes the exciting release of the soundtrack’s film. Following the early December release of the soundtrack, Focus Features will release Promising Young Woman on Christmas Day.

Director Emerald Fennell brings a fascinating story of revenge to the screen with Promising Young Woman. Originally premiering to huge acclaim in Sundance earlier this year, Fennell’s film stars Carey Mulligan and Bo Burnham along with an ensemble cast that includes Laverne Cox, Alison Brie, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Max Greenfield, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chris Lowell, Sam Richardson, Molly Shannon, and Clancy Brown. Everyone said Cassie, played by Carey Mulligan, was a promising young woman until a mysterious event abruptly derailed her future. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs of the past in this thrilling and wildly entertaining story.

Fennell also served as Executive Soundtrack Producer, teaming up with music supervisor Sue Jacobs and Capitol Records to create what The Daily Beast describes as “a pop music soundtrack that could only be described as glorious.” Promising Young Woman’s soundtrack continues to receive praise from well respected sources. Specifically, Vice reported that the film “expertly uses femme pop songs to underscore its critically acclaimed twisted tale of trauma and revenge.” In another review, IndieWire noted, “The film is filled with inspired soundtrack choices – a strings-heavy take on Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ teases before it reveals itself at the perfect moment, and an amusing use of an ‘It’s Raining Men’ cover sells Fennell’s pitch-black sense of humor early on.” In general, the musical covers of popular pop songs offers one of the film’s greatest musical choices.
