Javier Pedroza is a multi-talented host, producer, creative and visual director, founder of his own production company Under One Roof Productions, celebrity stylist, philanthropist, and Latinx Editor-at-Large for 360 Magazine. His positive and innovative mindset have allowed Pedroza to rise to prominence in the entertainment industry. His impressive portfolio is comprised of editorials, fashion shows, movie premiers, life performances, showroom designs, pop-up shops, and window and merchandising displays. Pedroza is based in New York City, but he is surely taking on the world.

Before Pedroza’s successes with his own company and hosting, he collaborated with designer brands while he was the Visual Director for ESCADA in North America. ESCADA is an international fashion brand that celebrates feminine luxury. Pedroza also worked with clothing brands including Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Neiman Marcus, Saks 5th Avenue, GANT, Gabriel & Co., and Coomi Jewelry.

Due to Pedroza’s incredible styling abilities, he has worked with supermodels and Hollywood celebrities alike at major award shows and red carpet events. The stylist’s abilities have been seen at the Oscars, the Emmys, The Golden Globes, The Grammys, and the SAG Awards.

Pedroza’s innovative mindset and charismatic ebullience has also landed him interviews with stars, including Carmen DeLeon, Piso 21, LaJune, and Raul Peñaranda. Additionally, Javier was named the Relational Organizer Director for Dianne Morales’ mayoral campaign. Pedroza’s unique perspective grants him exceptional event design and execution of production abilities. His astute creative direction has led to the success of many events.

Favoring to work with non-profit organizations– such as Wendy WilliamsThe Hunter Foundation Inaugural Gala at New York City’s prestigious Hammerstein Ballroom, AID for AIDS Hero Gala held at the American Museum of Natural History and Latino Commission on AIDS Cielo Gala at Cipriani Wall Street– Pedroza’s philanthropic productions help these organizations reach their full potential. The designer is especially passionate about his involvement with The Latino Commission on AIDS, of which he has supported for the past thirteen years and became Chair of the Cielo Gala in 2019.

The visual director has used his platform to found his production company, as well as create various visual and audio podcasts. Pedroza’s two podcasts– Conciencias Con Cocktails and LatinX Heroes– both highlight cutting edge individuals. On such, Pedroza navigates discourse surrounding diverse leaders such as Arturo Alfonso Schomburg, Gen. Ignacia Zaragoza, and Dianne Morales.

Recently, Pedroza’s hard work and talent has resulted in him being signed to media brand, TAG Collective. He will be working with the Collective to secure brand deals, social media engagements, publicity outreach, and to expand his overall profile.

Facebook Live & Instagram Events Share Tips on Enjoying Sustainably Grown & Produced Wines

For “Down to Earth Month” in April, California Wines is celebrating the state’s global leadership in sustainable winegrowing with a series of fun and informative virtual events and videos on Facebook Live and Instagram. Throughout April, the free livestream events and videos will present a variety of discussions, cooking demonstrations, and virtual wine tastings focused on sustainability.

Hosts for the Facebook Live events include Napa Valley sommelier Amanda McCrossin of SommVivant and Aida Mollenkamp, Food Network personality and founder of Salt & Wind Travel.

Videos shared on the California Wines Instagram channel will demonstrate recipes, how to pair and enjoy California wines, and what makes a wine sustainable. Programs will feature food and beverage influencers, including Meg van der Kruik of This Mess Is Ours, Jerry James Stone of the Jerry James Stone blog, Britney Brown Chamberlain of Britney Breaks Bread, and Sarah Gim of The Delicious Life.

Every Tuesday in April, videos from well-known food and beverage influencers will be shared on the California Wines Instagram channel, each demonstrating a recipe inspired by the Wine Country Table cookbook paired with sustainably made wines from California. Recipes and information about sustainability will be shared on each influencer’s website and social media platforms.

Houseparty is Poppin!

It’s award show season, and just because many are still social distancing it does not mean you can’t have a viewing party with friends and family! The show can still go on with Houseparty.

Houseparty is a synchronous face-to-face social network that enables group video communication through mobile and desktop applications. A user opens the app, and their friends get a push notification that they are “in the house” and ready to chat. The app allows users to come online and be present and see who their friends are talking to and join their conversations. On average, users spend 60 minutes per day in the app chatting with friends.

Get dressed up, pour yourself a drink, open the Houseparty app, and get your friends “in the house” to watch this year’s award shows – and make sure to check out the Trivia categories dedicated to movies! Fortnite Mode

Fortnite Mode lets you cast your party into Fortnite so you can bring your friends with you while you play. You opt into this feature by linking your Houseparty and Epic Games accounts on the Houseparty app.

Working as a Party Planner

If you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking about getting into party planning. Odds are, you’ve always been a great host or a “get this party started” kind of person and you’re wondering if you should turn it into a career. You might be pondering: what’s working as party planner actually like? Is it all fun and parties all of the time?

The truth is, every day is different. On the busiest of days, you’re in the office from the crack of dawn and out at parties and launches until late hours of the night. It can be exhausting at times, but the thrill of seeing your event come off just as you’d planned it is totally worth it. Then there’s more low-key days, of course. Like any job, there are good days and there are bad days, and a lot of it is hard work.

So, what’s it all like?

Non-event Days
As mentioned before, not every day as a party planner will be an event day. Weird to think about, but more often than not you’ll have a non-event day than a party day. Fortunately, not every day is as jam packed as the ones where you’re up early and out late. Still, a regular day has you busy with tasks.

Clients and Planning
On these days you’re probably touching base with a lot of your clients as well as going over details for events. There’s researching and sourcing, holding meetings with the clients, and scoping out venue requirements as well as caterers.

Creating themes, schedules, and count-down to-do lists are standard in the event-planning world. The planning of events basically comes down to minute details, so you have to be on top of all aspects of the event. It’s also incredibly useful look into coverages for your events. You never know when elements of an event or client will go downhill. Business insurance for party planners is an absolute must. That includes invitations, arrivals, catering, decoration, staffing, and so much more.

Correspondence
Then there’s other normal work stuff like e-mailing, figuring out contracts, and coordinating teams. Because you’ll probably be working on a few projects at once, upkeep of communication with clients is crucial. You’ll have to set aside some time every day or so to update clients.

Additionally, there’s the part of the job where you have to seek out new clients. You’ll need to prepare proposals for your potential clients and probably do some promotion and marketing as well.

Event Day
Once event day comes around, you’ll be working flat out from the crack of dawn to the end of night (or, depending on when the event ends). Event day includes:

• Arriving early.
• Setting up and ensuring vendors and contractors are set up.
• Confirming staff knows what to do to make sure the event runs smoothly.
• Helping attendees in arrival.
• Overseeing the schedule and troubleshooting problems that arise with a backup plan (Always be sure to have a back-up plan!)
• Evaluating the event based on attendees, those who’ve commissioned the party, and yourself. Learn from each event to do better at the next.
• Be professional and excited. It’s imperative to wear a smile on event day! Even if you’re not feeling it, fake it ‘til you make it.

Overall, being a party planner can be different depending on the day. What you can definitely expect in the short term is a lot of planning and correspondence. Non-event day hours can look much like standard 9-5 days, but there’ll be longer days leading up to an event day. You’ll have a relatively flexible schedule, with some weekend days.

If you’ve made it this far, it might be time to seriously consider this as a career. Not everyone is gifted with hosting capabilities. With being a party planner, you’ll have flexibility in your schedule and freedom to pull off amazing events. Just know that you have to be meticulous in your planning, stay up to date with correspondence, and don’t skimp on business insurance.
