Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra via 360 Magazine by 360 Magazine

Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra wins 2022 Eurovision

The great favorite of the bets to win the crystal microphone confirmed all the forecasts: The Kalush Orchestra band have won the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest for Ukraine with their song ‘Stefania’!

In addition to the talent, the fascinating rhythms with the mixture of modern hip-hop with classic Ukrainian folk, the successful band unleashed a wave of sympathy this week at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 as the representative of a country destroyed by the complicated situation that Ukrainians are suffering against the Russian invasion.

Kalush’s proposal has become a complete representation of the Ukrainian resistance despite the fact that the song festival tries to be on the sidelines of politics and its conflicts. Indeed, the Ukrainian delegation had to change its lighting, since in the first rehearsals it referred to the country’s flag.

However, everything in the Ukrainian proposal recalls the most characteristic features of the Ukrainian people. Some of the performers are wearing traditional historical costumes from the early 20th century: Oleh wore an authentic festive keepar, a vest of the Hutsul – an ethnic group from the Carpathian Mountains – to which he gives a modern twist, with a pink bucket hat and Tymofiy wore the full costume of the same traditional origin. ‘We’re showing off our roots, and we’re showing how to take something from the past and make it work for the present. That’s why we’ve found success at home, and we hope that we can find that sort of reception internationally, as well. We take something old, and we make it sound modern’, affirms the successful band to the official Eurovision website.

This is Ukraine’s third victory at Eurovision. The last one was achieved exactly on May 14, 2016, in Stockholm and the first came just one year after its debut in the European competition, in 2004 in Istanbul. On this occasion, the performance of Kalush Orchestra has been one of the most exciting of Eurovision 2022, thus achieving 631 points, of which 439 of them by the audience, the maximum awarded by the popular vote.

MILES × LØLØ – THE INTERNET

LA-based singer/songwriter and rapper MILES unveiled his new single, “THE INTERNET,” featuring LA by-way-of Toronto pop-punk artist LØLØ. Punctuated by bouncy guitars, breezy beats and a melodic flow, the track is a sunny anthem leading into the summer season. Listen HERE. The accompanying music video is also out and highlights the challenges of dating in the modern era. Of the song’s inspiration, MILES explained with a laugh, “It’s about scrolling online during quarantine, seeing beautiful women, and knowing there’s no chance.” Watch the new visual HERE.

Of the new collaboration, LØLØ added, “I got connected with MILES through my manager and label, and we instantly hit it off in a session. A few weeks later, I saw him tease a song concept on TikTok, and I made a duet to it, without thinking too much into it. He saw it, felt there was something there, and we got back into the studio and actually turned it into a collab.

MILES creates big, high-energy tracks that people can relate to when navigating life and relationships. Early Rising called “MISS INDEPENDENT,” MILES’ first-released single of 2022, a “brilliant feel-good track that continues his exciting trajectory to becoming a household name,” while MUD Magazine praised his “unique sound” that is setting him up to be “one of [their] favorite artists.” MILES is also currently in the studio working on new original music, slated for release this summer. Stay tuned for more to come.

About MILES

MILES’ story might be almost as wild as his fusion of breezy hip-hop, earthshaking pop, and grimy rock. The St. Louis-born and Los Angeles-based singer and rapper bobs and weaves past genre lines with an unpredictable and undeniable style of his own. Predestining their son for music, mom and dad named him in homage to jazz icon Miles Davis. In turn, MILES cranked his old man’s jazz records as well as Kirk Franklin, Bill Withers, Lauryn Hill, Black Eyed Peas and Lil Wayne. Slowly, but surely, MILES developed a following online before cooking up “WHAT IN TARNATION” (2020) back in St. Louis. Beyond inspiring thousands of TikTok videos, it raked in millions of streams as he signed to Elektra Records. He maintained his momentum with the captivating, high-energy follow-up singles “DESPERADOS” and “MOSH PIT.” His new releases with Elektra kickstart a new era for this exciting artist to watch.

About LØLØ

Born and raised in Toronto and now calling LA home, LØLØ has become an undeniable presence in the pop-punk genre. The singer-songwriter has created a striking presence both online and on stage with her effortlessly cool attitude and sharp lyricism. In 2020, LØLØ created a buzz on TikTok where she reimagined music’s biggest hits. Putting her adept lyrical skills to use, she rewrote verses from the opposite perspective of the song’s subject, while still maintaining the original integrity of each song’s tempo and rhyme scheme. Most notably, her take on Taylor Swift‘s “Betty” from “Betty’s Perspective” caught the attention of Swifties and went viral on the platform. In late 2021, LØLØ released her electric EP overkill, which came directly on the heels of her 36-stop US tour with pop-punk titans New Found Glory and Less Than Jake. LØLØ has been compared to Paramore and Avril Lavigne by Billboard, as well as receiving critical acclaim from Paper Magazine, MTV, Kerrang!, American Songwriter, Ones to Watch, Alternative Press, and many more. People Magazine called her an “Emerging Artist making their mark in music” and to date she’s amassed over 35 million streams on Spotify with her numbers continuing to climb exponentially. LØLØ is on the brink of superstardom, so stay tuned as there’s much more to come.

Rita Ora – Finish Line

“Finish Line,” performed by global superstar Rita Ora and written by award-winning songwriter Diane Warren, was released across all music streaming platforms and is the soundtrack for ESPN‘s upcoming four-part Title IX docuseries, 37 Words. A true passion project across the company, ABC Owned Television Stations’ race and culture team played a pivotal role in securing the song and was part of a majority-women-led team responsible for the creative vision of the “Finish Line” music video. An exclusive clip of the music video premiered Sunday, May 15, during ABC’s American Idol. Emmy Award-winning producer and host Ryan Seacrest interviewed both Ora and Warren live.

“Finish Line” is a women empowerment anthem that will support “37 Words,” a four-part ESPN docuseries from documentary filmmakers Dawn Porter and Nicole Newnham, as part of The Walt Disney Company‘s Fifty/50 initiative led by ESPN. The Fifty/50 initiative commemorates the 50th anniversary of the passing of Title IX, the federal civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in any educational institution receiving federal funding and gave women the equal opportunity to play.

“I knew that I wanted to be a part of the Fifty/50 initiative because it celebrates the 50-year anniversary passing of Title IX,” said multi-award-winning songwriter Diane Warren. “This powerful initiative inspired me to write ‘Finish Line’ as an uplifting anthem that reminds us to never give up the fight. It may be 50 years since the law was passed, but we are still pushing for the fundamental human right of equality. Rita Ora understood the message of never giving up within this song. She sang it so movingly with the conviction it needed.”

“I love working with Diane. She is such a brilliant songwriter and collaborating with her is always a joy,” said global superstar Rita Ora. “When she brought this song to me, I was so moved by the lyrics and the passion they evoked and knew instantly that I had to be involved with the project. The fight for women’s equality is a global issue. Every day, women around the world are fighting to be seen, heard and respected. We must continue to work to empower one another as we strive to make equality a reality for women in every part of the world.”

“As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX across The Walt Disney Company, it is a true gift to have two such prolific, powerhouse artists as Rita Ora and Diane Warren contribute their talent and passion to a song that celebrates and encourages girls and women around the country,” said Debra O’Connell, president of Networks for Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution. “‘Finish Line’ is a fantastic and empowering anthem, brought to life by an extraordinary and inspiring group of women. I’m incredibly proud of this collaboration and thrilled to showcase it on our Networks as part of the Fifty/50 initiative.”

Promoted and organized by Associazione Pianocity Milano and the Municipality of Milan, the event is recognized as one of Italy’s most prestigious music festivals.

216 unmissable concerts across the whole city of Milan with more than 300 artists performing in 100 magnificent locations will carry the audience with their pianos on a wonderful emotional musical journey. Piano City Milano is a unique event that brings institutions, associations and partners to collaborate in making Milan ever more dynamic, through an incredible number of concerts all over the city. Curated by Ponderosa Music & Art and Accapiù, the project boasts artistic direction from Ricciarda Belgiojoso and Titti Santini

“There are events that can speak about the city to the city: Piano City Milano is one of them” states the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala. “During this extraordinary three-day festival, the universal language of music will truly echo throughout Milan. Over 300 highly talented artists will perform and bring to life historical sites, remarkable new locations and emerging spaces that are under development. Unique, emotion-fuelled piano concerts allow the audience to discover how the city is changing”.

“How many places in the last ten years have we discovered by following the sound of a piano? How much music have we listened to and how many musicians have we discovered by attending a Piano City Milano event since the first edition in 2012? How many pianists and spectators have been able to share the joy of a live concert performance? These questions cannot be answered in numerical terms, but I am certain that the overall value of the interactions between music and the city is very high, and that this is the deepest sense of the event,” explains Tommaso Sacchi from the Milan Department for Culture. “This is why I am certain that this eleventh edition will once again be a great celebration for the whole city.”

“With Piano City Milano, a lively and dynamic city joins forces with music from all over the world. Pianos take their place in every neighborhood, from the gardens of Galleria d’Arte Moderna to beyond the edges of the city, in Milan’s new places and in other spaces that are under transformation and are being opened up for the first time for the festival. We offer new perspectives on Milan and on music, starting with the opening concert by the great Abdullah Ibrahim. This will be followed by an array of other remarkable Italian and international names with music created for the occasion, plus amazing six-piano and eight-hand events. The festival captivates the city with the sound of the piano and a huge thank you goes to the partners that make this extraordinary event possible,” concludes Ricciarda Belgiojoso, Artistic Director of Piano City Milano.

Piano City Milano is the result of an extraordinary collaboration between public institutions and private companies that allow free entrance to all concerts. It is an example of a remarkable synergy which this year brings together the Municipality of Milan, its  Department of Culture and main partners Intesa Sanpaolo and Corriere della Sera, along with Volvo, Hermès for talent-support, institutional partners Regione Lombardia and Fondazione Cariplo, charging partner Be Charge, Snai San Siro Racetrack, Università Bocconi, Conad as well as technical partners AIARP, Steinway & Sons, Fazioli, Griffa & Figli, Passadori Pianoforti, Tarantino Pianoforti, Tagliabue, Schimmel Pianos, Shigeru Kawai, Scorticati Pianoforti, Fabbrini and Barletta Pianoforti. The event’s media partners are Radio Monte Carlo, ViviMilano, Classica HD Sky, Wired, Zero, Lampoon, Pianosolo, Club Milano and Mi-Tomorrow.

There are also collaborations with a number of prestigious musical institutions such as Teatro alla Scala, Milan Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Verdi, the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado, the Bergamo Conservatorio Gaetano Donizetti, Premio Venezia and Festival Milano Musica.

The festival returns to enhance Milan, inviting the public to discover new perspectives on one-of-a-kind contexts, old and new neighborhoods, the city’s symbolic locations, and places undergoing redevelopment, spaces that have been opened up especially for this occasion. Each concert has been created for its location, with musical genres that range from classical to pop and from jazz to electronic.

In addition to historic venues such as the GAM Gardens, Volvo Studio Milano, the Rotonda della Besana (home of the Milan Children’s Museum MUBA), Triennale Milano Teatro, the Museo Teatrale alla Scala, and the Snai San Siro Racetrack, the event will also be held in important new spaces such as the Bocconi Campus park, the ADI Design Museum, the Passeggiata Boris Pasternak at the Feltrinelli Foundation, Piazza Olivetti in the Symbiosis business district, and the garden of Via Ludovico di Breme in the Certosa District. There is a special focus on the outskirts of the city too, with concerts in the MM courtyards, in the fields of Vaiano Valle, in the Adriano district, in barn conversions turned cultural centers, and at Casa Enzo Jannacci, Europe’s largest social support center. Plus, there will also be music in the parks of Villa Finzi, Chiesa Rossa, Parco delle Cave and Parco Lambro.

YGTUT – Thinkin Bout

Rising Tennessee rapper YGTUT releases new single “Thinkin Bout” via Same Plate Entertainment. The new song will be part of his new album, In My Head, due June 9th which includes previously released singles “New Medallion” and “Dolla $igns.” Produced by Jared White, this new track highlights TUT’s compelling storytelling and honesty. Listen to “Thinkin Bout” HERE.

Here is what the artist had to say: ‘”Thinkin Bout” is about knowing when you’re dealing with a person that you can’t trust. It’s about thinking when people are really with you when they’re not. In this new album, I’m taking it up another taste level and bringing the message that it’s okay if you don’t have everything figured out.”

About YGTUT

Born and raised in Chattanooga, TN, YGTUT is a son of a preacher and has been surrounded by music since he was young. The emerging rapper fuses genres like R&B, Soul etc. into his music and incorporates numerous live instruments into the production—the latter a reflection of his southern roots and the live music scene in Tennessee. In 2010, TUT co-founded the collective TheHouse with TDE’s Isaiah Rashad—a force putting Chattanooga on the musical map since, and that recently released their collective project, “The House Presents: The Set” earlier this year.  TUT announced his arrival on the scene in 2015, via his critically acclaimed debut project, Preacher’s Son, receiving praise from Pitchfork, HYPEBEAST and more. That project was followed by the release of Four Two Three in 2017, his I.O.U. EP in 2019 and the singles “Bootleggers” and “Chattanooga Vendetta” in 2020. Most recently, TUT connected with Isaiah Rashad for the track “Chad” off Rashad’s new album, The House Is Burning, followed by “Dolla Signs” in December 2021.

Carlo LaQuinta – Plan B

Colombian singer-songwriter Carlo LaQuinta releases his new single Plan B.” The song is a romantic reggaeton that many will identify with. In this theme the artist presents a common situation of heartbreak in a cheerful way. Watch the music video HERE.

“Plan B” talks about the moment when one decides to let that person go after confirming that you were only the second option. The lyrics specifically narrate when one gets tired of the game and not being given his place.

The urban artist reported that the inspiration for the song is based on an experience and he developed it one night in the studio while he was meeting with his producers. Carlo LaQuinta assured, “I know that many will feel identified, but there are times when one’s peace of mind lies in letting go and letting go, there is no justification for being anyone’s Plan B.”

Likewise, he expressed, “feelings can more than time, distance and all the obstacles that arise in a relationship. I hope to reach the hearts of many and continue making progress with my musical proposal in the industry.”

On a musical level, in this song the reggaeton sounds are soft in tune with the heartbreak theme. However, it differs from the other themes, because despite the fact that it talks about heartbreak, it is presented in a cheerful way, giving diversity to the sensations when listening to it.

The theme “Plan B” also has a video that was recorded in Bogotá, Colombia and directed by Gustavo Camacho . In the video the protagonists are the artist and the model Caro Suarez. The young artist is singing on the stage of the Cádiz theater to that person who has him as a second option, personified by the model who constantly flirts with him. The visuals have constant transitions from color to black and white.

The song is now available on digital platforms and the video can be seen on the artist’s YouTube channel.
