WizTheMc – Do It Over

Today, South African born, Germany raised, and Toronto based singer, songwriter and producer WizTheMc releases his latest single “Do It Over” via 10K Projects/Homemade Projects. Get “Do It Over” HERE and watch the official video Friday at 9am PST HERE.

“Do It Over” marks the third release from Wiz’s upcoming EP Where Silence Feels Good” slated for release at the top of 2022. The project will also feature recent singles “Break” and “Everything.”

In the visual for “Do It Over,” Wiz and his love interest (played by Uncut Gems star Noa Fisher) have officially called it quits, leading him to wallow in all of the things he would have changed to go back and fix it. This third installation marks the finale to the storyline presented in previous videos for the first two singles, showcasing the steps from the spark felt in a new relationship all the way to the tribulations that lead to its ultimate demise. The narrative represents the core message of the overall EP and sets up for its release. Watch the video for “Everything” HERE and “Break” HERE.

Leading up to this release, Wiz spent last weekend in Texas where he took to the Miller Lite Stage for a performance at Austin City Limits.

Where Silence Feels Good EP marks the follow up to his What About Now? EP. Released at the end of last year, it features the breakout single “For A Minute,” which has since amassed over 34M streams on Spotify.

ABOUT WIZTHEMC

Fitting for an artist who spent formative years on three different continents, WizTheMc describes his sound as “borderless music.” It’s an apt description for the 22-year-old singer, rapper, and producer, whose DIY ethos to music-making combines an ear for sticky pop hooks with nimble rapping abilities, all bolstered by high-octane production and summery guitar loops. His career hit warp speed during summer of 2020, when his peppy love song “For A Minute” became a major online hit, following his signing with Elliot Grainge’s 10K Projects and Homemade Projects. It’s since accrued over 34 million streams on Spotify alone. The Toronto-based, Cape Town-raised artist is now bringing his magnetic records to the masses.

The next chapter of his career comes in the form of his upcoming Where Silence Feels Good EP, featuring singles “Everything,” “Break” and now “Do It Over.” The project will show Wiz at his most in-tune self, marked by an over darker sensibility, drawing attention to Wiz’s emotive rasp. He uses songwriting for emotional excavation but maintains that what matters more to him is not what he gets out of a song, but what you do. He says introspective rappers like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole have inspired him to pour more of himself than ever before into the music he’s writing, “It’s been my goal to be able to put down my emotions as accurately as possible onto paper to the point that I feel moved by my own words because they feel so true to me.” He continues, “I feel like these songs are the closest to my real experience. These are the most vulnerable songs I’ve written to date.”

Rosemarie × Juvenile – 03 Love

R&B’s newest addition, Rosemarie, has released the official video for her track “03 Love” featuring hip hop legend Juvenile. The two throwback to early ‘00s as the song’s title suggest for an eclectic music video fit for the cooling weather and all your #nostalgia inspirations. Watch the video HERE.

The video comes after the release of Rosemarie’s debut EP: Sinnergy (Bird Vision Entertainment/Interscope Records). The gorgeous nine-track EP comes packed with poetic lyricism, insatiable melodies, featuring singles like “Henny Talk” and “Vision”—Rosemarie continues to carve her own space in the ever-evolving genre. Listen to the EP in full HERE.

About Rosemarie

“I want my music to be relatable. I want it to be able to connect with my listeners on a different level.” Driven by this mission, newcomer Rosemarie is a refreshing addition to the re-energized landscape that is rhythm and blues. Born in Los Angeles, CA, Rosemarie calls many States her “home” having lived in New York, Florida and California. She grew up in a musically inclined family, splitting her time between being a natural-born creative—writing poems, songs, painting as well as playing sports and climbing trees. After a few years on the East Coast and experiencing the loss of her mother, she settled back into California where she attended culinary school to become a pastry chef. Long days working part time jobs were peppered with Rosemarie’s continuing exploration of her naturally gifted singing talents. She began uploading covers and music challenges to social media and reconnected with a long-time friend and studio engineer, Jon Rousseau, who encouraged her to create original music again. So in 2016, Rosemarie bet on herself and began working towards her dream of becoming an artist.

Inspired by some of music’s biggest powerhouses like Drake, Rihanna, SZA as well as talents like Dominic Fike and Dijon, Rosemarie aims to create R&B with deep cutting lyrics and addictive melodies. Tapping into real life experiences and events, Rosemarie sings from the soul with her heart on her (tattooed) sleeve. Rosemarie met her now manager Bird of Bird Vision Entertainment (Roddy Ricch) in 2017 after connecting over a cover that she had posted online. Also recognizing her unquestionable talent, Bird worked with Rosemarie to build out her future in music. In 2020, she signed to Interscope Records, and wasting no time, immediately started working on her debut project. This time, it’s hers. Inspired by honoring her past to celebrate her future, Rosemarie’s upcoming EP is an homage to the journey she embarked all those years ago as a young artist. Born to create, Rosemarie proves to be an undeniable promise and exciting addition to R&B’s evolving scene.

Marvin Gaye – What’s Going On 50th Anniversary Edition

Throughout 2021, the world has been celebrating the life and legacy of R&B pioneer Marvin Gaye to honor the 50th anniversary of the release of his groundbreaking record What’s Going On. After half a century, the wisdom behind R&B’s first seamless concept album, What’s Going On, continues to ring true: a poignant plea that we might organize to address often-overlooked issues of inequality and ecological distress.

Closing out the year, Motown and UMe are continuing the celebration with the release of What’s Going On: 50th Anniversary 2LP Edition on December 3, 2021. This premium vinyl release features direct-to-analog mastering from the original primary album tape reels by acclaimed engineer Kevin Gray, one of the first times this has been done since 1971, offering an undeniably authentic listening experience.

What’s Going On: 50th Anniversary 2LP Edition bonus LP opens up the album’s writing and production palette. Featured are four rare cuts making their vinyl debut, highlighted by a previously unreleased “stripped” version of the title song, plus all six original mono single mixes and their B-sides, with all of those 7” versions on vinyl for the first time since their original releases. Among them are alternate versions of “God Is Love” and “Flying High (In The Friendly Sky),” the latter issued on 45 as “Sad Tomorrows.”

With two 180gm records, a tip-on heavy stock jacket, original gatefold with complete lyrics, this formidable release also includes printed sleeves with track details, a rare image from the cover sessions, and a brief essay honoring arranger David Van De Pitte. Highlighted is a main essay by acclaimed author and poet Hanif Abdurraqib who was just named one of the 25 recipients of the 2021 MacArthur “genius” grant. An e-commerce edition will also include three exclusive lithographs from the What’s Going On photo sessions. Purchase the What’s Going On: 50th Anniversary 2LP Edition HERE.

In addition to What’s Going On 50th Anniversary 2LP Edition, Motown/UMe is releasing a four-track remix suite from GRAMMY®-nominated producer Salaam Remi, known for his work with countless hip hop, pop, and R&B icons. The suite includes remixes of What’s Going On tracks, which includes “No Need,” an unreleased instrumental from the “Sad Tomorrows” sessions, as well as a reinterpretation of the holiday release “I Want To Come Home For Christmas,” originally recorded in 1972 and thematically tied to What’s Going On as a tribute to the Vietnam troops yearning to be with their families for the holidays.

With a vulnerable depth and complexity, Marvin Gaye opened the door musically, culturally, and politically for countless musicians over the last five decades to address the injustices of our world. Sitting at the No. 1 spot on Rolling Stone’s 2020 list of “The 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time,” What’s Going On has proven its evergreen relevance and its legacy will continue to influence and shape the music of future generations.

Within the last several years, Jordan Ward has emerged as one of R&B’s rising stars. Developing an affinity for music and dance at a very early age, Jordan polished his skillset after first trying his hand as a choir member before transitioning into musical theatre. His influences include a diverse roster of music luminaries ranging from Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Kanye West, Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, and more. After first experimenting with rap, Ward later focused on singing and dancing. By 18, he moved to Los Angeles and joined Justin Bieber’s Purpose Tour in 2016. Ward’s precocious dance abilities earned him gigs as a dancer for Janet Jackson and Beyonce, as he appeared in the singer’s Homecoming documentary for her epic Coachella performance.

In 2017, Ward began his musical quest after releasing his EP, A Peak at the Summit. It wasn’t until 2019 that Ward’s breakthrough became the talk of R&B. His debut album Valley Hopefuls was propelled by his single “Okok (Hibachi)” and “Sandiego,” which was produced by singer Arin Ray and music producer heavyweight No ID. Now, Ward’s silky croons and elevated songwriting abilities are at peak form as he readies his journey into universal acclaim in the R&B world.

Capella – GYALIS REMIX

Today, Bronx R&B sensation Capella Grey returns with an electrifying remix of his song of the, summer Gyalis, featuring Chris Brown Popcaan Capella has captured the hearts of New Yorkers, and fans around the world, as his player’s anthem has traveled the boroughs and become a pop-cultural moment in one of rap’s capital cities. This buoyant new version seems tailor made to stretch the song’s summer domination well into the fall. Listen HERE.

The rich melodies and playful energy of Gyalis have made the song synonymous with the warmer months, and this new version only magnifies these feelings.Gyalis (a popular patois term to describe a playboy) explores Capella’s sensual side, and Popcaan and Brown match that energy, offering their own risque bars over the instrumental that samples Juvenile’s iconic Back That Azz Up. It’s no wonder Brown called the original the hardest shit out right now.

Both Capella’s music peers and fans around the world seem to agree. It’s been remixed by acts like Kranium, A Boogie, French Montana, Tory Lanez, Fivio Foreign, and more. Though he’s newly signed to Capitol, he’s been establishing himself as a singer, songwriter, and star for the past few years. With Gyalis atop the charts and sure to continue to reach new ears with this remix, those times of relentless grind are starting to feel like a distant memory. Success isn’t easy to come by for anybody, but now that Capella is here, he’s ready to celebrate.

The projects also boasts the title track and debut single “The One And Lonely,” which continues to turn heads and earn critical praise. Ones To Watch claimed, “The creative amalgamation of sonic and mood shifts is intoxicating from start to finish,” and Alfitude extolled how Carter “seamlessly blended RnB with hip-hop, soul and even space funk to create one of the most impressive songs that I have experienced so far this month.”

Bad With Phones – Refrigerator

Today, South East London’s Bad With Phones shares his new track, “Refrigerator,” alongside a mesmerizing visualizer, out now on Don”t Sleep. The Deptford-bred creator, known as Manny to his friends, received instant support for his debut track “Needles” from notable tastemakers like Complex who described it as “such a wonderfully odd introduction” to the artist. In 2020, he released the highly praised single “ON1” which garnered over 1.4M streams on Spotify alone.

Hot on the heels of his greatly-received track “Ghost,” Bad With Phones is back today with his next installment. Opening with a nod to the legend herself, Rihanna, “Refrigerator” is an icy and subdued but sensual single. In Manny’s own words: “I heard the beat and it sounded like an anthem and made me feel like a cold motherfucker hence the title I also recorded it with the mic in my Refrigerator.”

Manny is a man about town. An ex-hacker, photographer, space-enthusiast, and producer, there’s nothing deemed too big or small for him to sink his teeth into. Like many good stories, Bad With Phones’ begins in a small black church.

Manny’s first attraction to music came after being drawn to the bass guitar, which he discovered through his pastor father’s church. He started playing in the church band where he would secretly play secular R&B riffs in the middle of church proceedings for his own amusement, sparking his rebellious counterculture spirit. Inspired by the likes of Bootsy Collins, with vocals that bring Andre 3000 to mind, Bad With Phones found inspiration from black artists who were celebrated for going against the grain.

Attending Westminster University with classmates Michael Kiwanuka and Paolo Nutini, he developed his knowledge, songwriting skills, and musical performance there. A stint in Berlin would later introduce him to the world of psychedelics, which became a source of spirituality and the foundations for his own music. Bad With Phones is signed to Don’t Sleep, a new London-based music venture with the mantra to support creators who are pushing culture forward and Manny’s honest lyrics paired with his warm, intimate style are destined for great things.

Ebhoni – Goodaz

Coming off the heels of her debut project, Good Dick & Weed, an offering recently included on HipHopDX’s Best R&B Albums of 2021, promising Toronto R&B singer, Ebhoni, taps into her West Indian roots, with “Goodaz,” a clever flip on Capella Grey’s buzzing single, “Gyalis.

The video, shot by Zion ATL, shows Ebhoni with her girls sharing another side to the cautionary tale. “He tryna sneak sum vids of me, then wanna ask like ‘what we gon be,'” Ebhoni sings. The fun run-and-gun comes as she prepares to release the next video off GD&W, “IYKYK,” coming next week.

In May, Ebhoni released the unfiltered, melancholic “Rep It, ” the single that kicked off the Good Dick & Weed era. That stunning drop wasn’t even her first of 2021, however. Good Dick & Weed followed February’s X EP, which garnered considerable critical acclaim. In addition to Pitchfork plugging the release, HotNewHipHop wrote,  “Ebhoni has been one artist to keep an eye out for in the 6ix, ” and The Root wrote that her music  “makes you feel like you’ve been sipping on a fancy cocktail for the last few hours. ” It’s no wonder FLAUNT crowned her  “Our favorite new R&B artist. “

Over the last few years, Ebhoni’s string of animated R&B singles has won both commercial and critical success. In the middle of a productive 2019, Pitchfork wrote that she is  “reclaiming the Toronto R&B crown for women.” Throughout her career, Ebhoni has made a point to partner with Black-owned businesses, support other women artists and workers, and to uplift the local LGBTQ+ community, which she’s done through efforts like hosting Pride Toronto. Visuals like  “Rotation” only bolster the rep she’s built as one of R&B’s most magnetic young stars.

About Ebhoni

Ebhoni is a Canadian musician and model. Originally from Toronto and moving to Oshawa after her parents’ divorce, she was a Youtuber, doing covers of Beyonce and Keyshia Cole songs before releasing her debut EP, Mood Rings at seventeen in 2017 and her next EP X earlier this year. She has also modeled for Savage X Fenty and Adidas.

NO1-NOAH – Bounce

Singer/Songwriter NO1-NOAH (Ghetto Earth Records/Interscope Records) isn’t shying away from telling the ladies what he’s craving in his new video “Bounce.” Directed by Arman Mitchell, NOAH pens a hypnotic hook capable of seducing any woman to fulfill his desires in the bedroom. Surrounded by a bunch of party-goers, NOAH takes the action with him wherever he goes. Whether it’s the house, the streets, or the liquor store, no location is safe from Noah and his team of dance-happy friends. Watch HERE.

He is the first signee of Summer Walker, and much like her, is very open about his intentions, and that is evident through the song’s explicit lyrics.

Last January, the promising songwriter was named one of Billboard’s 15 Hip-Hop & R&B Artists to Watch. Touted for his “ethereal vocals and intrepid lyricism,” NOAH first caused shockwaves in the R&B world when he appeared on Summer Walker’s 2020 standout EP Life on Earth. NOAH’s indelible prints landed on the singer’s stellar cuts “SWV” and “White Tee,” where he served as her guest feature.

After displaying beams of promise on Walker’s sizzling anthems, NO1 inked a deal with her label Ghetto Earth Records last winter. Serving as her first artist, NOAH looks to rattle the cages of R&B with his emo-leaning tracks and sticky hooks. Since announcing his deal, his opening record, “Ridin For My Love,” flaunted his pillowy vocals and gutsy lyrics. With publications such as Rolling Stone and XXL already praising NOAH for his extraordinary talents, it’s only a matter of time before he morphs into a full-fledged star.

About Ghetto Earth Records

Ghetto Earth, founded by R&B artist Summer Walker in 2020, is a record label who debuted with feature artist NO1-NOAH. It is a joint venture with Interscope Records.
