3 JEWELRY TRENDS TO TRY OUT THIS SUMMER

The lovely, leisurely days of summer are almost upon us, and each new season brings the opportunity to try something fresh. Even if you haven’t been able to get out and shop for a summer wardrobe, never fear. Accessories offer a quick and easy way to making the old look new again, and they also add an instant touch of individuality to any ensemble. Whether you’re looking for yourself or in the market for Mother’s Day gifts, following are three of the hottest jewelry trends to try out this summer.

LARGE BAROQUE PEARLS

Traditional, round pearls are a classic that never goes out of style, but in 2020 baroque pearls are stealing the scene. You’ll see their edgy elegance cropping up everywhere this year. The term ‘baroque’ covers every type except round, from pearls as tiny as grains of rice to ones as big as eggs, and this year, the bigger the better. The unique shape of baroque pearls gives you the chance to express your personality, and it’s one of the reasons they’re so popular right now.

The unique, abstract quality of baroque pearls make them more laid-back than traditional ones; they give off a relaxed vibe that is perfectly suited to to lazy summer days. Avant-garde or vintage, worn layered or singly, baroque pearls make a statement and are the focal point of any outfit.

CHUNKY CHAINS

Just like with pearls, the ‘bigger is better’ trend holds true for oversize chains as well. There are so many options when it comes to wearing chains: as a necklace, they work equally well with V-necks, scoop necks and bra tops (which are another hot trend this year too). Chain chokers are super popular too, and they definitely make a statement. But even though chains look edgy — and literally have an edge — they can still be worn with eveningwear. Expect to find them in gold, silver and even black.

Chunky chains won’t be limited to necklines. You’ll notice them everywhere, from head to toe. Chain belts can be worn at the waist or slung low over the hips. For a more preppy look, you can add a chain to a second belt. Meanwhile, a chain strap for your hand bag is ultra-cool and retro, and adds a glint of glamor to any accoutrement. As for your feet, don’t be surprised to see chain anklets, some attached to shoes, others floating free and easy as a day at the beach.

COLORFUL GEMS

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but in the summer of 2020, fashionistas are gaga for colorful gems. There’s a strong bohemian vibe going on out there so don’t be afraid to mix and match stones and metals. The more colors you add, the easier it is to coordinate with the rest of your wardrobe. Inject some color and let your inner flower child blossom.

Colored stones are also being selected for their spiritual meaning and healing properties. Try amethyst for its psychic powers or emeralds for rejuvenation.

Hot weather makes us want to strip down to the bare minimum as far as clothes are concerned, and this only gives your accessories all the more chance to shine. Whether you decide to go modern or retro, there’s something for everyone this year. The only rule is to pick what suits your style so you can enjoy it all summer long!

220 KID & GRACEY

Picking the perfect Mother’s Day gift that manages to land squarely between ‘thoughtful’ and ‘affordable’, while also showing true gratitude is a challenge at the best of times let alone trying to do it in the middle of a global pandemic, trapped in isolation with mum looking over your shoulder.

But despite the lockdown measures in place, Australian pop group Sheppard have managed to pull together the ultimate mother’s day surprise in secret, all while trapped in isolation, with their mum Linda in the room next door.

“Flowers, wine, chocolates; they’re all great gifts to celebrate your mum, but this year we wanted to take a more personal approach” said Sheppard singer Amy Sheppard. “For the past few months we’ve been covertly working on writing and recording “Thank You”, a song that celebrates our amazing mum, Linda.”

Filled with signature Sheppard sounds, pop hooks and lyrics that openly and honestly recount memorable moments from the bands childhood and teenage years, “Thank You” is all in the title: a deeply personal thank you message to their mum this Mother’s Day.

“Our mum has been such an incredibly important member of our band. She’s always been there behind the scenes as a silent helping hand, making life easier for us in any way she can. Said George Sheppard “This year we couldn’t get out of the house to physically buy her a gift or to take her to lunch, so this Mother’s Day we wanted to do something a bit different. We wrote “Thank You” to our mum (all mums all over the world really) as a song of gratitude – not just for putting up with us in isolation these past few weeks, but for looking after us for our entire lives!”

Written by the band’s core writing team of George and Amy Sheppard and guitarist Jay Bovino, the band’s sixth release from their forthcoming album is more than just a thank you to their mum, it’s proof that it’s the thought that counts on Mother’s Day.

“Our mum is like an extra member of the band. She’s been by our side for some of the most important moments of our career, from playing in stadiums, festivals and clubs in over 60 countries around the world. Said Emma Sheppard “We’ve spent A LOT of time in airports and horrible hotels over the years and she’s always been there supporting us. We’re beyond lucky to have her on board!”

Released track by track, month by month, and accompanied by music videos, art and content splashed across the bands social channels; Sheppard’s forthcoming 2020 release will slowly begin to take shape over the coming months.

‘Thank You’ is the band’s sixth release from the forthcoming album.

220 Kid and GRACEY have dropped the official video for their chart-infiltrating single “Don’t Need Love,” watch HERE.

The gripping video explores the trials and tribulations of being in a relationship in the 21st century – when technology rules all. The visuals are therefore composed of phone selfies and screengrabs of conversations, ideally complementing the modern pop vibe of the track itself.

“Don’t Need Love” has just passed 18.5 million cumulative global streams. It charted at #38 in the UK Singles chart and currently sits inside the Top 30 of the midweeks after being placed on the BBC Radio 1 A-list playlist, The Capital B List and the Kiss FM playlist. It also reached #15 in the Spotify UK viral chart and got the remix treatment by UKG don Majestic. “Don’t Need Love” currently sits at #5 at Dance Radio in the US and can be heard on countless playlists worldwide, such as Pop Rising and Mint.

A producer, writer and DJ, 220 Kid adopted the name after running 220 miles in bright pink pants for charity, after his beloved godfather passed away. He was soon scouted as a model and has worked for the likes of Vogue, GQ, Nike, Reebok and others, while continuing to develop his sound. His broad musical ability has allowed him to write and produce with a wide range of artists and producers, including Grades, Sheppard, CamelPhat, Walking on Cars, Alpines and Maverick Sabre.
GRACEY arrived in 2019 with debut single “Different Things,” a slow-burning, heart-breaking introduction that instantly caught fire with fans and critics across the board. The track has received over 1 million streams on Spotify alone.

The 21-year-old songwriter then released her debut EP Imposter Syndrome at the end of 2019, marking a hugely significant flag in the sand for one of the UK’s most prolific songwriters as she finally steps out into the spotlight. Her 2020 single “Alone In My Room (Gone)” was released in February and in total, she has now registered 6.3 million combined streams across all platforms.

A gripping exploration into the role played by technology in modern relationships, the official video for “Don’t Need Love” looks destined to help the track continue its hot streak.

For the Mom with a Favorite Pair of Hiking Boots

From upstate in New York’s scenic Finger Lakes to the ancient beauty of Machu Picchu, Discover Outdoors plans excursions for families with every time frame and skill level. Moms can hike, bike, hang glide, and more through the world outside of their metropolitan life. The premier guide company scouts the country’s most scenic locales, plans expeditions, and provides transportation out of the city.  All you need to do is sign up, get outside, and let Mother Nature do the rest. For the adults, plenty of adventures end in beer, wine, or whiskey. If Mom needs a break from the kids, send her off on an all-women Morning Meditation, Nature Photography Course, or Overnight Backpacking adventure, or sign up for the Women in the Outdoors week.

For the Mom Who’s Up for an Adventure

Come to the Tordrillo Mountain Lodge for the blue skies of Alaskan summer and stay for the thrill of adventure in the unparalleled mountain scenery of the Tordrillo Range. The volcanic peaks are known for stable weather conditions, creating ideal opportunities for Alaskan heli skiing–in June, ski in your t-shirt through carvable corn snow and 75-degree weather. Other sporty summer pursuits include world-class fishing, mountain biking on glaciers, whitewater rafting, glacier and alpine hiking, rock and ice climbing, canoeing, water skiing, and more. After a full day of fun, unwind by the fireplace while Mom enjoys a glass of wine from the 500-bottle cellar or soak in the luxurious lakeside wood-fired hot tub and sauna.

For the Mom Who Rocks a Five Iron

Hit the links in Vail, Colorado, at the Sonnenalp Hotel’s semi-private, 7,100-yard championship links style golf course. Quinoaplex

Quinoaplex, a product made of hydrolyzed quinoa protein that protects hair before and after coloring/bleaching. Quinoaplex resolves the issue of thinning hair, split ends, hair breakage and damages. The reason why quinoaplex works is because h air is made up of 85% protein and as we get older, we expose hair to chemical products and gradually lose this protein. Without enough protein in your hair, you damage it even washing with regular shampoo and conditioner strips it of essential protein . B enefits for Quinoaplex:

-Hydrolyzed quinoa protein (mother of all grains) has the same structure of the protein that is in our hair, naturally. By applying the quinoa protein to the hair, we give it the protein required through the molecules of the organic, natural quinoa protein. Because of the size of the hydrolyzed protein, it enters the bulb where hair is produced, under the scalp, feeding the hair. Therefore, the hair that is produced by the body, grows stronger and reduces hair loss.

-You can carry and travel with the Quinoa Protein (the smaller 1.7oz – and for home 4oz) and spray and quickly massage throughout the day. It will not only provide volume, but also make the hair manageable without gels and sprays, which block the cuticles and increase hair loss.

-Hydrolyzed Quinoa Protein comes in one bottle treatment that supplements the hair from the inside out, with the protein that the hair lacks. Throw it in your gym bag or your purse or travel with it. For more information, please contact me and visit quinoaplex.com

MOTHER’S DAY ADVENTURES

Sure, any mom would be happy with flowers and a nice dinner, but some moms deserve a bit more this year.  People are switching it up and taking their mothers on an unforgettable trip-of-a-lifetime – an ecotourism adventure.

While ecotourism – travel intended to support conservation efforts while enjoying nature – has been around since the 1970s, the resurgence comes with 21st-century buzzwords of “sustainability” and “green living.”

Oceanic Society, America’s oldest non-profit organization dedicated to ocean conservation remains at the forefront of the trend, and is hosting an exclusive ecotourism trip to Trinidad where travelers can explore the island’s beaches and experience the amazing mother leatherback turtle at one of the world’s most important nesting sites. The trip is timed to coincide with the peak of the turtle’s nesting season and Mother’s Day.

This fun and educational trip could create a one in a lifetime bonding opportunity for any mother and child. The expedition is from May 11 – 15, 2019 and is $3,600 per person. For more information about the trip to Trinidad, click here.
