Today Lil Yachty reveals the artwork and April 23 release date for his highly-anticipated mixtape “Michigan Boy Boat.” Featuring rappers from Detroit and Flint, Yachty unveiled a behind-the-scenes trailer filmed in the Great Lake State.

WATCH HERE.

Lil Yachty has long been collaborating with Michiganders. Since his 2017 Tee Grizzley collaboration “From the D to the A,” Yachty has been featured on songs with Michigan artists Sada BabyYN JayRNC Mike, and Krispylife Kitdd–and these were only primers.

“Yachty’s upcoming mixtape, Michigan Boy Boat, is an ode to the state where a new crop of MCs is currently restitching the fabric of modern hip-hop. It’s also a testament to one of the 23-year-old rapper’s greatest gifts: his ear for talent,” states Rolling Stone.

In February, Lil Yachty released a video for his song, “Royal Rumble,” which features six MCs from Michigan’s vibrant rap scenes. Along with Yachty, the song boasts Krispylife Kid, RMC Mike, Babyface Ray, Rio Da Yung OG and Icewear Vezzo.

Stereogum wrote of the song/video: “For the past few years, the Atlanta rap star Lil Yachty has been making tracks with the best rappers that the thriving Michigan underground has to offer. Yachty was arguably the first mainstream rapper to recognize the talent of people like Sada Baby and Rio Da Yung OG, and when he records tracks with guys like that, it usually brings out the best in him.” Pitchfork stated Yachty “always holds his own and makes everyone around him sound more motivated than usual.”

Lil Yachty has been busy. In between developing a heist movie based on the card game Uno, a series for HBO Max, diving into crypto currency, partnering with Reese’s Puffs cerealremixing the Saved by the Bell theme song, and becoming a favorite on TikTok, “hes a mentor and a mogul…”he’s become an elder statesman of a certain brand of young superstar — and something like the Gen Z answer to Diddy” (Rolling Stone).

Fearless (Taylor’s Version)

FEARLESS (TAYLOR’S VERSION) BOWS AT #1 IN THE U.S., UK, CANADA, AUSTRALIA & MORE AND BECOMES TAYLOR SWIFT’S 3RD #1 ALBUM IN LESS THAN A YEAR & THE BIGGEST COUNTRY ALBUM DEBUT SINCE 2015

BIGGEST FIRST-WEEK DEBUT OF 2021 & BIGGEST FEMALE COUNTRY STREAMING WEEK EVER!

LISTEN TO FEARLESS (TAYLOR’S VERSION) HERE

Returning to #1 around the world and breaking numerous records, Taylor Swift has made history yet again with Fearless (Taylor’s Version). Notably, she’s the first woman with three new No. 1 albums in less than a year. Moving over 1 million units worldwide, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) logged the “biggest first week debut of any album this year,” “the biggest first week debut for a country album since 2015” and “the biggest female country streaming week ever. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is the only No. 1 album of its kind: a re-recording of an artist’s (own or another’s) previously released album.

Generating 50 million-plus streams on release day, it also achieved “the biggest first day streaming debut for any album on Spotify this year” and marked her fourth consecutive album to exceed 50 million Spotify streams in 24 hoursFearless (Taylor’s Version) also becomes the first country album by a female artist to reach #1 on Apple Music’s US Albums chart.

In addition to capturing #1 on the Billboard Top 200, #1 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart and #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, it went #1 in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. It debuted Top 5 in Belgium, Norway and the Netherlands and in Germany it was the biggest debut by a country album in the history of Germany’s album chart. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) charted at #1 on the iTunes Top Overall Albums Chart in 61 countries.

Fearless (Taylor’s Version) stands out as Taylor’s 4th #1 album in less than two years with the “3 biggest debuts since July 2020” with folkloreevermore, and Fearless (Taylor’s Version). It also emerges as “the biggest female country album debut since the inception of the Billboard Top 200 album-based conception charts in 2014.” Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is the eleven-time GRAMMY Award-winning, record-breaking superstar’s 9th #1 Album.

Taylor entered rarified air across the pond as Fearless (Taylor’s Version) became her 3rd album to chart #1 during its debut week in less than a year in the UK. The Beatles had previously accomplished this incredible feat the fastest in 364 days, but Taylor eclipsed the speed of The Fab Four as she reached this benchmark and accumulated three #1’s in just 259 days—a difference of 105 days.

Not only did it become her 7th #1 in the country, but Taylor became “the first and only solo artist ever to claim three UK #1 albums in less than 12 months during the 21st century” and “the first ever international artist and first ever female artist to land three #1 albums in the UK within one year in history.”

Physical sales of Fearless (Taylor’s Version) outsold the remaining combined total physical sales of the UK Top 15. The permanent downloads also bested the remaining combined total permanent downloads of the Top 70. She shattered her own record for the second time in the last year as “the first and only female artist to garner 7 #1 studio albums in the UK this century. Additionally, she has gathered “the 3rd Most #1 albums in the UK by a female artist.

Down Under, Taylor is now “the first artist to release three #1 albums in a 12-month period in Australia.” Taylor is the first artist to have three different albums top the ARIA Charts in a twelve-month period. She bests her own record of “the shortest span of #1 albums in Australia” with only 17 weeks between evermore and Fearless (Taylor’s Version). Her previous record was 20 weeks between folklore and evermore. With eight total #1 albums in Australia, she is second for “female artist with most #1 albums” only behind Madonna and just behind Eminem for “most consecutive #1 albums.” At radio, “Mr. Perfectly Fine (Taylor’s Version)” bows in the Top 10 on the Airplay Chart.

  • “I love that this re-recorded album is essentially a love letter to being a teenage girl. The world still dismisses teenage girls as not serious enough, too dramatic, and overall too much. Adolescence is often looked back on with embarrassment and shame. But these songs make me want to give my former 14-year-old self a hug and tell her she was doing just fine.” – TIME, Samantha
  • “It’s really a triumph of self-knowledge and self-awareness, in the way that Swift is so hyper-conscious of the ways she’s matured that she has the ability to un-mature before our very ears.” – Variety, Chris Willman

Maren Morris duets on the gorgeous You All Over Me, Keith Urban crops up and Mr Perfectly Fine is the banger that should have shown 13 years ago why country alone could never contain Swift’s talent.” – The Sunday Times, Lisa Verrico
  • “I immediately went to the chorus of “Fifteen,” one of my 2000s pop high-water marks, to see if I’d get chills. Good news: I did. Felt that gut punch during “White Horse.” “You Belong With Me” had that crucial air of resignation.” – The New York Times, Jon Caramanica

Global superstar Gwen Stefani adds yet another iconic pop collaboration to her catalog with the release of Slow Clap” featuring the multi-platinum rap star Saweetie. The empowering track, Stefani’s first single of 2021, is inspired by a mash up of sounds with Saweetie’s unabashed verses. “Slow Clap” featuring Saweetie is available now at all digital retailers via Interscope Records.

The “Slow Clap” video was directed by Sophie Muller, a long-time Stefani collaborator who also helmed the memorable clips for No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak” and Gwen’s solo track “Wind It Up.” Watch the energetic video HERE.

With lyrics about embracing resilience and staying confident despite feeling like an underdog, “Slow Clap” is classic Gwen: “Been the champion, rang the bell / Rocked the bottom, been through hell,” she sings. “Climbed the mountain, now I’m well / I just feel like coming back for the belt.”  Saweetie, whose forthcoming debut album featuring recent drops with Doja Cat (“Best Friend”) and Demi Lovato (“My Girlfriends Are My Boyfriend”), reinforces this confidence with bold and unapologetic lines: “My favorite position is CEO check the stats / Me and Gwen Stefani snatchin’ wigs on the track.”

“Slow Clap” builds on the momentum of “Let Me Reintroduce Myself,”which reached No. 1 on the iTunes chart upon its release. In 2020, Stefani also had two No. 1 hits on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart with fiancé Blake Shelton, “Nobody but You” and “Happy Anywhere,” and reissued her holiday album, You Make It Feel Like Christmas, with two new songs, including “Here This Christmas” co-written with Ryan Tedder.

A three-time GRAMMY Award winner, Stefani has achieved global success as a performer, songwriter, and frontwoman of No Doubt, and a multi-platinum solo artist, among other accomplishments. To date, she’s sold more than 50 million units worldwide. Her 2015 solo album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She also spent five seasons as a coach on the Emmy-winning NBC series The Voice where she led contestant Carter Rubin to be crowned the season 19 winner. The classic warmth of “Slow Clap” sets the tone for what fans can expect from Stefani as she plans to release more music this year.

SHARES DEBUT SOLO PROJECT ‘R’

“ON THE GROUND” & “GONE”

LATE NIGHT TV SOLO DEBUT ON THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON ON 3/16

Rosé of BLACKPINK shares her massively anticipated debut solo project, R. Released via YG Entertainment/Interscope Records, the single album consists of two unforgettably vulnerable tracks co-written by the K-pop icon: “On the Ground” and “Gone.”

Go HERE to stream/download R by Rosé now.

Produced by frequent BLACKPINK collaborator TEDDY, acclaimed songwriter/producer/artist Jon Bellion (Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus), Jorgen Odegard (Justin Bieber, P!nk), Ojivolta (Selena Gomez, Halsey), and 24, “On the Ground” is an intimate look at the cost of ambition and chasing your dreams, with Rosé bringing her stunning vocal work to a gorgeous backdrop of soulful guitar tones and radiant beats. In creating the raw and reflective track, Rosé co-wrote with Bellion as well as heavy-hitters Amy Allen (Sam Smith, Zara Larsson) and Raul Cubina (Playboi Carti, Christina Aguilera).

On “Gone,” Rosé matches the pure emotional depth of “On the Ground,” this time offering up a stripped-back breakup ballad produced by Brian Lee (BLACKPINK, Post Malone, Camila Cabello). Accompanied by little more than the track’s hypnotic guitar work, her voice turns heartbreakingly tender as she delivers her confessional lyrics (“Now I’m all alone, crying ugly/You broke my heart just for fun/Took my love and just left me numb”).

Along with “On the Ground” and “Gone,” the CD and vinyl editions of R include instrumental versions of both tracks. Rosé is now the second member of BLACKPINK to release solo material, with singer/rapper Jennie having shared her single “SOLO” in November 2018.

R arrives just months after BLACKPINK dropped their debut full-length effort THE ALBUM. Released on October 2, the record-breaking project debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, marking the biggest chart debut by an all-female group in over 12 years. With guest spots from fellow superstars Selena Gomez and Cardi B, THE ALBUM also smashed the record for highest first-week sales for a debut album from a K-pop group in all of music history. That same month, BLACKPINK premiered Light Up The Sky, an all-access Netflix documentary detailing the hard-fought journey behind the group’s meteoric rise.

ABOUT BLACKPINK:

Since bursting onto the scene in 2016, BLACKPINK have redefined the possibilities of K-pop, transcending all categorization and ascending to global stardom. With their unstoppably catchy single “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” the South Korean quartet broke the record for highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 debut by an all-female K-pop act, while its head-turning video surpassed 10 million views in just six hours and racked up 36.2 million views in one day.

Discovered by YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK is comprised of JISOO, JENNIE, ROSÉ and LISA: four immensely charismatic vocalists, dancers, and burgeoning fashion icons. Released in 2016, their debut “SQUARE ONE” quickly proved their crossover power; in 2018, “SQUARE UP” climbed to #40 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Billboard World Albums chart. Several months after “SQUARE UP” hit the charts, YG Entertainment and Interscope Records announced a global partnership for BLACKPINK, paving the way for the group’s international breakthrough. With their EP Kill This Love arriving in April 2019, BLACKPINK further boosted their popularity by successfully completing a world tour and becoming the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella, the largest music festival in the U.S.

INTRODUCING BRAND NEW ARTIST MADELINE THE PERSON

PEEK INTO HER WORLD WITH WARNER RECORDS DEBUT

“AS A CHILD”  – WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

FIRST CHAPTER IN COLLECTION OF PERSONAL STORIES TO BE RELEASED ON DEBUT EP NEXT MONTH

Alt Pop wunderkind Madeline the Person invites you to Personville, her rainbow-colored art emporium where all humans & all feelings are welcome to express themselves. The Houston, Texas native, who has spent the last year building a significant following on TikTok through her soulful covers of everyone from Frank Ocean, Phoebe Bridgers, Harry Styles and Lizzo to Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile and Queen, has emerged as a powerful antidote to conformity with her deeply personal debut single As a Child,” out today on Warner Records.  Listen to As A Child” HERE and watch the video HERE.

The 19-year-old, who inked a deal with Warner Records over a monochromatic Zoom meeting, lives her life boldly and loudly, confecting a universe where creativity reigns. From making her own clothes and jewelry and dying her hair a spectrum of colors to directing short films and painting, Madeline the Person has found a litany of ways to show that there are no limits to expressing yourself. With the release of “As a Child,” she does just that, countering her optimistic exterior with a tender ballad that grapples with the crippling emotional weight of losing a parent at a young age.

She explains: “The difference in the way that I express my personality versus my music, I think that has to do with my belief in the fact that all emotions are equally important. With my music, I’m trying to normalize the sad and hard and really gross stuff and make it more acceptable and less scary, because to me, as a person, I am all of those things combined. I’m super sad and also really happy and joyful and grateful. I have a lot of emotions and I don’t like to boil it down to just a few. I like to show lots of facets at a time and sometimes, that creates a juxtaposition that I think makes it kind of cool.”

Madeline the Person already struck a chord on social media by being true to herself, showcasing her incredible talent across platforms and accruing a robust legion of devotees. Since launching her TikTok account in early 2020, she’s amassed nearly 300,000 followers and 5 million likes on the platform.   She first shared “As a Child” with fans on TikTok last year – the clip has over 1.1M views, 300K likes and more than 13K shares.  It also landed her in the DMs with some of pop’s new elite.

While music was at the forefront of Madeline’s upbringing, learning piano at the tender age of four & guitar shortly after, it was the loss of her father a few years ago that pushed her to write without holding back, to feel every feeling. In her journey through unimaginable grief, Madeline continued to flourish as a songwriter, unafraid to share every part of herself in her music, be it splashy and exuberant or contemplative and sad.

Following her debut with “As a Child,” Madeline the Person will guide us through her human experience in a series of musical chapters disguised as EPs set to release through 2021, the first of which will arrive next month.  It’s page one in the story of Madeline the Person, who already shines as bright as the future that lies ahead.

Prince Memorabilia Up For Auction

A Prince screen-worn ruffled shirt from Purple Rain will be auctioned by Boston-based RR Auction. The custom-made white ruffled shirt worn by Prince in the iconic 1984 film Purple Rain, lavishly crafted from soft silk and featuring a gathered high-neck collar, three layers of ruffles down the front, gathered ‘puffy’ long sleeves, ruffled faux-French cuffs, faux pearl buttons down the front placket, and light shoulder pads. Sewn inside the neck is a purple-on-white “Prince” label.

Playing ‘The Kid’ in Purple Rain, Prince is seen wearing a white ruffled shirt at several key points in the movie—including his rendition of ‘Beautiful Ones,’ and then later in the finale when he sings ‘Purple Rain,’ ‘I Would Die 4 U,’ and ‘Baby I’m a Star.’ Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Juanita Escovedo, the mother of Prince protege Sheila E., stating that the shirt was made for Prince during the making of Purple Rain and was given by Prince to Sheila E. It was later sold as part of a fundraising effort.

Purple Rain grossed over $72 million worldwide (against its $7.2 million budget), won the Oscar for Best Original Score, and served as the launching pad for Prince’s superstardom. “As an iconic, screen-worn shirt from the classic movie, this is a remarkable museum-quality piece,” said Bobby Livingston, Executive VP at RR Auction.

Among other Prince-related items from the sale is a remarkable handmade Lords jacket from Prince’s wardrobe worn in a photoshoot with Randee St. Nicholas. Prince’s handmade couture jacket worn in a photoshoot, crafted from cream-colored fabric with three pairs of ornate black corded rope clasps on the front and matching rope links on the cuffs. Concealed in the placket are three white buttons behind each set of clasps. The jacket has two jetted diagonal pockets, a handkerchief pocket on the left breast, and is lined in a fine paisley satin. When Prince posed in this jacket in a shoot with photographer/filmmaker Randee St. Nicholas, he wore a high-collared black shirt and adorned the breast pocket with a black handkerchief—making for an edgy yet sophisticated look. Any piece from Prince’s personal wardrobe is tremendously desirable, and that he chose to wear this jacket in a photoshoot makes it especially significant. From the collection of singer-songwriter Susannah Melvoin.

Prince’s personally worn long white cashmere trench coat by Ashton Michael, from a photoshoot for the June 2014 issue of Essence magazine. The fine white cashmere wool coat features a simple sewn-in chevron design, two slit pockets, a single vent on the back, and a golden zipper on the front; the arms are fine black leather with golden zippers on the wrists. The inside is lined in white satin and has the “Ashton Michael” tag inside the neck.

The sale also features a breathtaking bright yellow custom Cloud guitar created for, owned, and played by Prince. The guitar was custom-made by Minneapolis luthier Kurt Nelson in the early 1990s. The neck-through guitar features a bright yellow finish, golden hardware, and cloud-inspired design to body, horn, and headstock, with a unique series of 18 black Prince symbols to fretboard and top of the neck.

Among other fashion highlights from the sale is a stunning gold sequin dress worn by Lady Gaga during her 2017-2018 Joanne World Tour. This shimmering, form-fitting dress with long sleeves, high collar, and a back-lapped zipper was made by New York City fashion designer Cheng-Huai Chuang, whose tag is sewn into the inner back. A sleek and dazzling dress worn by the award-winning pop sensation during her five-month promotional tour of Joanne. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity.

The Fine Autograph and Artifacts sale featuring Music and Prince from RR Auction began on February 19 and will conclude on March 10. For more information, go to www.rrauction.com.

Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Susannah Melvoin, describing how she acquired the jacket: “My sister wore this jacket many times, which is how I ended up with it. Long story. Prince wanted her to wear it for a show at Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angles in July 2007. He had two shows a night: one in the big entryway of the hotel and the other in a small club room. So, Prince had Wendy wear it for those. Then a week later, on July 7, Prince played three shows in Minneapolis in one day—at Macy’s, the Target Center, and First Ave—and Wendy performed with him there as well. We had flown to Minnesota, where Wendy wore the jacket again. After the show, we were all together and went to give the jacket back. Prince said it looks clean on Wendy and that she should have more made in lots of colors. I’ve had the jacket since.”

Melvoin was the joint lead vocalist to the Prince produced band The Family, singer on numerous historical Prince albums, and extended member of the Revolution during the Parade era, who shared a long-term working musical relationship with and was engaged to Prince during the 80s. Her twin sister, Wendy, was a member of Prince’s band, The Revolution.
