Donovan Mitchell, BODYARMOR x adidas

Donovan Mitchell is fresh off a five-year, $195 million extension with the Utah Jazz, and now he’s dropping some fresh, new kicks.

The star guard teamed up with BODYARMOR for a collaboration with adidas to create a limited edition version of his D.O.N. Issue #2 sneaker called the adidas D.O.N. Issue #2 x BODYARMOR.

The shoe features a brand new colorway inspired by Mitchell’s favorite BODYARMOR flavor, Tropical Punch.

D.O.N., which stands for “Determination Over Negativity,” is representative of Mitchell’s mindset both on and off the court.

The new shoe features the BOUNCE midsole, which enhances comfort and stability. It is also a higher heel counter, which provides even more containment and support. A webbed lacing system and the soft, breathable mesh upper provide even more lateral support.

The D.O.N. Issue #2 x BODYARMOR will not be available for purchase. Rather, it is available to fans and consumers nationwide through giveaways on BODYARMOR social platforms beginning Tuesday.

There will be just 100 pairs, so those who can get their hands on the shoes will be the envy of sneaker collectors everywhere.

Mitchell was first announced a partner and investor with BODYARMOR Sports Drink in Jan. 2018. He was another premier name added to a list of athlete partners that includes James Harden, Trae Young, Megan Rapinoe, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Kemba Walker, Dustin Johnson, Naomi Osaka, Mike Trout and more.

Mitchell took the league by storm in the 2017-2018 season. He was drafted by the Denver Nuggets with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 draft and was traded to the Utah Jazz the same night.

He won the 2018 Slam Dunk Contest and was named an All-Star during the 2019-2020 season. Through the first three seasons of his career, he is averaging 22.7 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game and 4 assists per game.

BODYARMOR is now the No. 2 sports drink sold nationwide.

Turkey Recipes From Melissa Cookston

No one likes a dry turkey, and Melissa Cookston, celebrity chef and judge on Netflix’s new food show “American Barbecue Showdown,” is here to help avoid ruined Thanksgivings.

Cookston offers up three different recipes for all to enjoy while also touching on the differences between brining and injecting.

Brining vs. Injecting

“The first thing people will say is, ‘You should brine your turkey.’ Yes, brining has many adherents, but I’m not usually one of them. I have always preferred injecting to deliver added moisture and flavor for a few reasons. First, brining a turkey requires a good bit of refrigerated space, generally for a couple of days. Space in the fridge is generally in short supply around the holidays. Secondly, brining has its drawbacks in terms of how it affects (for me at least) the skin and texture of the turkey. Maybe I’ve just not been doing it right, but I’ve just never been a huge fan. I have published brined turkey recipes that were quite good, I thought, but overall, I just prefer injecting a turkey.”

Injecting a Turkey

“When you are going to inject, you can do it right before cooking. You can also put in a different flavor profile than you can when you brine. Also, I’ve had some brined turkeys that were just too salty, and you won’t run the risk of that by injecting.

“You’re going to need an injector obviously. If this is a once-a-year thing for you, then grab an injector from the grocery store for a couple of dollars. They will suffice to get through one turkey a year. If you cook and BBQ more often through the year, you’ll want to invest in a better injector. I have a heavy-duty injector that will make short work of turkeys, pork butts, whole hogs, etc.

“When you inject the turkey, try not to go through the skin too often. I usually work around the skin of the breast as much as possible. If I do go through the skin, I will use it multiple times by injecting through that spot multiple times (at different angles.)”

Turkey Injection Recipes

“I’m attaching some recipes below to help you get started. As you see, you’ll only be limited by your imagination when you inject, so if you want to add some different flavors, knock yourself out. The only caution is making sure you don’t have too large of particles in your injection recipe, or you might clog your needle. These recipes also work great with any poultry, so don’t just save them for Thanksgiving!”

-1/2 tsp garlic powder

-1/2 tsp kosher salt

-1/4 tsp white pepper

Instructions

In a saucepan, heat all ingredients until butter is melted and spices are incorporated. All to cool down. Before it thickens too much, inject poultry in thighs, legs, breasts, and along the breastbone. Allow to sit for 1 hour before cooking.

Recipe No. 3

Ingredients

-1/2 cup lemon juice

-1/2 cup liquid crab boil

-1/2 cup butter

-1 cup chicken stock

-1 tsp hot sauce

-1 tsp cayenne pepper

-1/2 cup olive oil

-1 tsp garlic powder

-1 TBS Cajun seasoning

Instructions

Place all ingredients in a saucepan. Heat until butter is melted and spices are incorporated. Remove and allow to cool to room temperature (it should still be liquid.) Then, inject turkey and place in a pan in fridge for 1 hour before cooking. This will allow injection to spread through the meat.

VEVA Sound X Quansic

VEVA Sound announced Tuesday that users of its platform are now able to register for an ISNI number for free.

An ISNI is an International Standard Name Identifier, a number uniquely identifying an individual in the music industry.

VEVA Sound verifies archived projects for clients. By partnering with Quansic, a leader in ISNI services, to facilitate registrations, it is now easier for creators to get credit and payment for their work.

FX Nuttall, the founder of Quansic, said the partnership made perfect sense for the company, as both Quansic and VEVA Sound share a vision that creators should be able to be identified easily and early in the creative process.

“As this partnership continues into the future, we are enthusiastic about introducing VEVA Collect’s users to our products — starting with ISNI registration before addressing the allocation of ISRC for Recordings and BOWI for Works,” Nuttall said. “We at Quansic are focused on enabling 100% identifier coverage for all, and our friends at VEVA provide an unprecedented opportunity for the independent creative community to do just that.”

President of VEVA Sound Deborah Fairchild said she is excited about the partnership and for the new opportunities for artists and creators who use VEVA Collect for payment for their work.

“FX Nuttall is widely respected in our industry, and we are proud to avail his expertise to our users through Quansic,” Fairchild says. “We believe it is imperative that we empower creatives with every resource available to receive authenticated credit for their work.

VEVA Sound was founded in 2002 and works to spearhead the movement to define, create and implement the standards for how sound is preserved and monetized. They now have offices in New York City, Los Angeles, Nashville and London where they work with clients to verify and archive audio and metadata.

Immersive Van Gogh

Lighthouse ArtSpace Chicago, a brand new venue in Chicago’s Germania Club will open Feb. of 2021.

The recently renovated building will open to the U.S. premiere of Immersive Van Gogh. The building’s Victorian Era, 35-foot-tall walls will show off art exhibitions that completely encapsulate an audience, blurring the lines between entertainment and culture, art and blockbuster creation.

Immersive Van Gogh received rave reviews from critics and a wide array of audiences in Toronto, as it allowed them to step inside the iconic, emotional, imaginative artist Vincent Van Gogh.

The Toronto Sun called Immersive Van Gogh “intense and emotional, cathartic and liberating” while Debra Yeo of the Toronto Star said,  “I wondered: could projections of paintings on walls and floors be thrilling? The answer is yes.”

More than 180,000 guests were able to see the exhibition in July 2020, and it passed worldwide ticket sales for any of Ticketmaster’s live cultural events.

Tickets will be available beginning Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. CST. You can find them by clicking right here, or you can call (844) 307-4644. Admission begins at $39.99, or $24.99 for children 16 years old or younger.

The tickets will be for viewings from Feb. 11 to May 2, and parking is available at the James House parking garage, conveniently located nearby.

Given the world’s current state of affairs, the experience also makes health and safety a priority, as admissions will align with Chicago’s capacity guidelines.

Tickets will also be taken contact-free, temperatures will be taken upon arrival and hand sanitizer stations will be open. Markers throughout the exhibit will also remind guests to socially distant as they get sucked into the world of Van Gogh. Face masks will be required.

The same Italian creative team that pioneered Atelier des Lumières will create a design custom to the exhibition’s home in Chicago.

The exhibition was designed by Massimiliano Siccardi, an Italian film producer, with help from composer Luca Longobardi, who delivers a score that combines electronic music with piano, blending modern and classic tones to evoke the perfect tone for the experience. Vittorio Guidotti is the art director.

Siccardi and Longobardi created the Van Gogh, Starry Night exhibition together, setting them up for Immersive Van Gogh, which features more than 50 projectors that cover more than 14,000 square-feet.

Siccardi said Van Gogh has created a lasting emotional impact despite going relatively unknown while he was alive.

“Both myself and Luca Longobardi are very excited to visit Chicago and once again bring Van Gogh’s legacy to life in a way that is unique to the beautiful architecture of the Germania Club Building,” Siccardi said.

Some of the most notable pieces featured include Self Portrait with Felt Hat, The Bedroom in Arles, Irises and The Starry Night.

Corey Ross, the co-producer of Immersive Art Space, said Immersive Van Gogh is a new way to consume art from all directions.

“Both connoisseurs and new admirers of Van Gogh’s work are guaranteed a breathtaking perspective on the influential artist’s oeuvre,” Ross said. “Merging state-of-the-art technology, theatrical storytelling, animation and some of the finest works of art ever created, Immersive Van Gogh is a uniquely mesmerizing experience that seemingly transports the viewer into the artist’s mind to see these timeless works as never before.

5 Game-Changing Benefits That SEO Can Give To Your Business

Now may be a tough time for businesses to part with capital for marketing. The reality, however, is that making such a decision could make the difference between coming out of the pandemic in good shape, or not coming out at all. Marketing has and always will provide a great return on investment, and businesses need this more now than ever before. Any smart digital marketing campaign will feature a number of strategies and SEO will form the foundation of your success. And, you can acquire insights from SEO Tool Spamzilla Review – it’s another tool for optimizing your business website. In addition, be sure to optimize pages with a meta description length checker because less is more.

For big agencies like Local Digital SEO forms the bedrock of all campaigns and here is how it will be a real game changer for your business.

Improved User Experience

In today’s world, simply having an online presence isn’t enough and there is a higher focus than ever before on the type of user experience one can offer visitors to their website. The better the user experience, the longer visitors will hang around and the more likely they are to buy. To meet SEO requirements, ad agencies will start by bringing your website up to scratch, and the byproduct of that will be a better UX.

Cost Effective Ad Strategy

SEO is a one-time cost which will benefit your business for a long time to come. This is a strategy which gets more clicks than PPC and it is one of the most cost effective strategies out there. This is an inbound marketing campaign, there is less focus on going to your customers and a much higher emphasis on enticing them to come and see what you are all about.

Improving The Awareness of Your Brand

The goal of SEO is to appear on the top pages of the search engine for a wide variety of keywords. In doing this you are going to be seen by a huge number of people, many of whom may not actually check out your site, at least not the first time. The more that you are seen on the search results however, the more a consumer recognizes the power of your brand, and that further increases your chance to make sales, and build a great online reputation.

Attracting Local Customers

The reason why so many small businesses should focus on SEO is that it works wonders in driving local customers through the doors. Organic search is bigger than ever, and looking for businesses and services ‘near me’ is how the majority of consumers find new places to go. Through the implementation of SEO your business can really light up the local market.

Optimizing Your Site For Mobile

No SEO campaign would be complete if it didn’t focus on mobile users and in order to do that, your business website will need to be mobile optimized. Just under half of all organic searches are made via mobile, if your website cannot be viewed on mobile, or if it only offers the desktop version, you will lose a huge opportunity to make sales.

Squeezing out some capital for SEO marketing could be the way to secure long term success for your business.

Brand Building In A Recession

Building Your Brand During A Recession

By Lauren Howe and Teri Uyovbievbo, co-founders of up-and-coming South Bay marketing start-up, The Social Block

The onset of COVID-19 has ultimately ended a decade-long trend of economic growth in the United States. In it’s place, we now have the highest rates of unemployment since the Great Depression. The unprecedented economic downturn has also ushered in the swift demise of formerly successful corporations.

Although COVID-19 has brought difficulty to many businesses, the high rate of unemployment has left many to focus on what was previously their side-hustle or freelance work. A small percentage of job prospects has left us with gig work, using our marketable skills and furthering our educations.

While this is a difficult time to build a brand, it isn’t impossible. In lieu of attending meetings, speaking on panels and networking in the community, placing the focus instead on the company’s current messaging, graphics, website, public relations, social media and marketing efforts is essential. In order to get your brand in the spotlight, you’ll need to create a memorable logo so that people recognize your brand as soon as they see your awesome logo. COVID has thrust the world into a work-from-home, online shopping, and food delivery reality. Building your brand during this time is not only the smartest move for your start-up or business – it is the only move that will keep you competitive in a post-COVID world. The following steps are what we at The Social Block do for ourselves to build our brand, as well as what we would always suggest to clients.

Take relationship building digital

We know that nothing can replace face-to-face interactions and networking, but in a digital world, it’s not enough to just do one. Looking out for media opportunities, offering discounted services to local non-profits to support your community, participating in roundtables, panel discussions and curating a well-managed social media presence are all essential ways to build your brand online.

Social media has been, and is continuing to be, a method of providing customer service and increasing brand loyalty. Although the recession may be limiting those buying or product or using your service, communicating with your target audience, asking for their success stories or feedback, and showing that you listen, care and are engaged, will keep your business top of mind and keep business flowing when the economy stabilizes.

Don’t stop marketing

Depending on your product or service, you can choose from email or mail campaigns, utilizing ad space in relevant publications, or targeting your audience directly through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn ads. It’s not enough to leave your growth to organic views, shares and customer/client reviews. Getting new traffic in the door and fresh eyes on your business will increase your brand awareness.

Even if COVID may cause a delay in conversions or results, you want to be one of the services or products on your target audience’s list to try after your area has reopened and the economy begins to repair itself.

Assess where your brand is at currently

It may be time to take a hard look at what branding you had going on before COVID, and determine if it is time to make a change. Is your website difficult to navigate wit outdated items? Is your social media active, and is it used to build relationships with potential clients or customers, or is it used almost as a “personal” account, full of successes and company outings? Are you participating in speaking engagements and interacting in you community? Are your graphics, presentations, business cards and logo truly representative of what you do?

Take a hard look at where each area stands, and be honest about what could change. At first glance, are you truly giving off the impression you want?

Times are tough, but it’s an opportunity to pause, reflect and rethink the way you do business.

NY-based producer and vocalist Mindchatter has today released his next transportive single, “Night Goggles,” on Mind of a Genius – the label behind ZHU, Gallant and more. Following his latest breakout tracks “Scared to Go Home” and “Language,” Mindchatter continues to draw listeners in with his imaginative lyricism and transcendent melodies, creating a limitless world
with each polished production. “Night Goggles” is a dream-like journey imbued with soothing vocals and sophisticated instrumentals, further cementing the young artist as one to watch this year.

Listen to “Night Goggles” HERE.

Mindchatter on the inspiration behind the single: “Night Goggles is a metaphor for seeing the world through a completely different lens. At night, when I’m most creative, I sometimes recognize the transience of life and the triviality of my worries. It’s an incredibly liberating feeling and one that I hope many people experience – but it’s always fleeting, so I tried to bottle it up in a song.”

As one of the latest signees to Mind of a Genius, Mindchatter has swept the live electronic scene in just under a year. In 2019 he took his enthralling show on tour with Parisian electro duo Polo & Pan, performing across sold-out venues like NY’s Terminal 5, Boston’s Royale, and Philly’s Underground Arts. With a handful of singles, he’s earned over 4 million streams to date and found support in tastemakers like BBC Radio’s Pete Tong. A sought-after remixer, this summer he’s put his signature spin on major records like Channel Tres’ “Weedman” and AMTRAC’s “Stratego.”

Stay tuned for the official “Night Goggles” music video next week and forthcoming music from Mindchatter as he gears up to release his debut album on Mind of a Genius this fall.

High-Performance Managed Website Services

With the advent of high-speed internet technology becoming available to a wide range of users. Websites have become an essential tool or platform for businesses to survive and thrive in a global marketplace. Merely having a website does not guarantee the success of your enterprise, so you should start with a small business website builder to see how it will be running because you don’t want to lose your budget at the very beginning. It should also be fine-tuned to quickly and clearly convey the importance of your product or service to any visitors to your website.

High-Performance Websites

The internet has become a major source of information for most people. Because of this, a great number of businesses have websites announcing their products or services to whoever should find this online address. For a website to be easily found amidst the multitude of online platforms, it should be connected to Managed Website Services that will increase its online traffic. Internet users have become very picky so if your website is not managed very well then it will be relegated to the sidelines of the virtual landscape.

High-performance websites should be elegant and efficient, reflecting an appealing aesthetic while also clearly conveying important information to visitors. They provide customers and clients with a unique experience from the first moment that they connect to the website. Keep in mind that laptops and personal computers are not the only ways to connect to the web anymore, mobile phones and tablets have become the most widespread means of connecting to the internet in the last few years.

One quality that can make or break a website’s online traffic is the speed in which it can load and share information with the user. This means that a high-performance website has speed-focused coding and image optimization integrated into its systems. Many internet users now do not have much patience and want the websites they visit to load very quickly, that is why speed is of the essence.

Website Security

A website must be secure both for the sake of the clients and for the business owner. Sensitive information is necessary for business especially when it comes to account details used for paying online transactions. Passwords and other personal information should be protected. Today, hackers or identity thieves are everywhere, this is the most complicated but must priority first. These kinds of information must be well protected in order to keep visitors to the website safe. If not, customers are not going to trust the website anymore. However, this can translate to a website having encryption on a virtual private server.

The virtual private server should be backed-up regularly so that information will not be lost. A private server means that the resources of a server are dedicated to the website. It also means that it is protected by a firewall as well as having systems in place to protect the website from brute force attacks or hacking methods of stealing data.

The virtual landscape is not so different from the real one in the sense that dangers and opportunities exist within them. High-performance website management ensures that your online platform is not only well-protected but also much visited. For those who have a website or are thinking of starting one, become aware of high-performance options so that your virtual presence is a strong one.
