About Last Prisoner Project (LPP)

The Last Prisoner Project (LPP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cannabis-related criminal justice reform. CHEAT CODES X AJ MITCHELL: “HATE YOU + LOVE YOU”

Joining forces for an event-level collaboration from their forthcoming debut album, Hellraisers Pt. 1, multiplatinum DJ trio Cheat Codes teams up with Gold-certified rising pop maverick AJ Mitchell for a brand new single entitled “Hate You + Love You”.

Simultaneously trafficking in electronic, pop, hip-hop, and alternative at the same high speed, the Los Angeles trio Cheat Codes remains an inescapable force throughout popular culture. AJ Mitchell has set his sights on pop domination with every move as he gears up to release his highly anticipated debut full-length album Skyview.

“I think we’ve all had that experience with a friend, family member, girlfriend or boyfriend where you just have that feeling: I hate you but I love you at the same time. AJ Mitchellcaptures that every and we were so stoked to have him jump on this with us,” said Cheat Codes. “Big love to Bryn Christopher, KODA and Henrik for sharing their magic with us on this. It was a true pleasure to work with them.”

For the track, Cheat Codes cooked up a glistening soundscape topped off by glitchy 808s and a laidback bass line. This backdrop really allows Mitchell’s voice to soar. Reflecting the song’s thematic push-and-pull, he delivers intimate verses before the high register hook takes hold with heavenly vocal echoes as he admits, “I hate you, love you, the rest of my life.

As they embark on what is slated to be their biggest year yet fueled by their debut album release, Cheat Codes have already made waves and built momentum through a series of single releases.  Most recently, “No Chill” featuring breakout TikTok star and musician Lil XXEL lead the radio airwaves in January 2021. With three legs leading into the album, each ‘part’ will personify the individual members of the trio and give you a deeper look at each group member.

The Los Angeles-based group consisting of KEVI, Trevor Dahl and Matt Russell have skyrocketed to fame since they first came together in 214. Over the course of the last six years, they’ve amassed over 6 billion total streams, with 12 million listeners tuning in each month to their music via Spotify. Pivotal points in their career include collaborations with artists such as Liam Payne, Fetty Wap, Demi Lovato, Little Mix, Wiz Khalifa and more.

In other news, AJ Mitchell recently picked up his first gold plaque for the single “Slow Dance” [feat. Ava Max], which has amassed over 215 million streams to-date. Included in Variety’s Young Hollywood 2020 list, he continues to captivate listeners everywhere, recently achieving over 1 billion total streams and views. He capped off last year with the incendiary single “Burn” before diving back into the studio to put the finishing touches on his full-length debut album, Skyview—coming soon.

As the official sponsor, Weedmaps and Area 52 branding will be displayed throughout the event including in the ring, on the screen, during the live broadcast, and in the locker room and press room. Weedmaps will also release an exclusive piece of content narrated by Nas, celebrated rapper and entrepreneur, that takes viewers through powerful events in the nation’s history, celebrating those who stood up to fight for change in systemic racism, cannabis legalization and more.

“Weedmaps is ecstatic to be the official sponsor of Mike Tyson’s highly anticipated return to the ring,” said Juanjo Feijoo, Chief Marketing Officer at Weedmaps. “We recognize this is a huge moment for the broader industry and through this sponsorship, we’re hoping to introduce a new audience to Weedmaps as well as bring attention to some of the important conversations happening around cannabis today. Founded in 2008, Weedmaps connects consumers to retailers and brands, and advocates for accessible cannabis for all patients and adults. With cannabis legalization moving forward in many states and being widely recognized on the national stage, this first-of-a-kind sponsorship opportunity for Weedmaps is groundbreaking for the cannabis industry.

“By partnering with companies like Weedmaps, Triller helps fight the stigma surrounding the cannabis industry. Protoje × Wiz Khalifa

Today, two heavy hitters in their respective fields- Protoje and Wiz Khalifa- join forces on “A Vibe” to profess their love for cannabis. Listen here.

The single will be available on Jamaican artist Protoje’s fifth studio album In Search of Lost Time available worldwide on August 28th. “A Vibe,” produced by Supa Dups & Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor,  follows his album cuts “Like Royalty” feat. Popcaan and “Same So,” which have been revealed over the last month.

“When I first did this song, I honestly knew that I would not have put it out without Wiz being on it. I was a super fan of his Kush & Orange Juice mixtape. From then, I always wanted to sing a song about Marijuana and how it helps maintain my mood at times,” Protoje said on the track.

In Search Of Lost Time will be Protoje’s first album release with RCA Records and follows his fourth studio album A Matter of Time, which resulted in Protoje’s first Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album and debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Reggae Album chart. In Search Of Lost Time is a pivotal moment of reflection for Protoje. While he has enjoyed independent success that yielded international fanfare for over a decade, Protoje’s latest studio effort takes a deep look at his personal and professional evolution as a man, a father, and an artist as the world stands still. The forthcoming album is a marked departure from his previous releases and showcases a wider range of collaborations with balanced display of musicianship. The “reggae revival” contemporary colors outside the lines for a cinematic, multi-genre, stadium level LP. Hip hop and reggae has always heavily influenced his sound, but he raises the bar by merging these two worlds with a variety of key players on both sides. Vocalists from Wiz Khalifa, Koffee, Popcaan and Lila Iké also join in on this razor-sharp diverse 10-track release. Protoje co-produces many of the tracks, and he also taps Supa Dups (the multi-platinum producer behind timeless songs for Drake, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj and John Legend), his resident beatsmith Winta James, Jamaica’s go-to hit-maker Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor and more.

Jhené Aiko’s Chilombo Success

Jhené Aiko’s blockbuster album CHILOMBO re-asserts its claim to the title of R&B album of the year this week, as the deluxe edition powers the album to over 46,000 new units. CHILOMBO re-enters the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 at #6, and reclaims the #1 spot on the Billboard R&B albums chart.

CHILOMBO DELUXE adds nine previously unreleased bonus tracks and remixes to the original 20-track album – including the new single “Summer 2020” – with new guest features from Kehlani, Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, Mila J and Wiz Khalifa. Check out the in-depth cover-story profile of Jhené in the new issue of HITS magazine.

Chilombo (released in March) entered the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart at #1, and the Billboard 200 album chart at #2.  Over 170 million first week streams ranked it as the biggest album debut in four years from a female R&B artist (since Beyoncé’s Lemonade in April 2016), and the biggest album debut of Jhené’s career.

Chilombo arrived on the strength of its five massive advance tracks, with cumulative streams over 700 million to date.  They comprise: “B.S.”  (featuring H.E.R.), “Triggered (Freestyle),” “None Of Your Concern” (featuring Big Sean), “Pu$$y Fairy (OTW),” and “Happiness Over Everything (H.O.E.)” (feat. Future and Miguel).  The visual for another album track premiered in May, “Magic Hour.” The momentum continues to build with the release of “Summer 2020.”

Chilombo proclaims the artist’s full name, Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo, as it celebrates her coming into her own personal power. The initial jam sessions where she freestyled the lyrics to each song, took place on  where Jhené’s great grandmother was born. Jhené was inspired by the beauty and power of the island’s volcanoes, having visited throughout the years. Chilombo means wild beast. The volcano is symbolic of the beautiful, yet powerful beast. Jhené Aiko is Chilombo. In contrast to her 2017 album, Trip, which intricately detailed the process of grieving, Chilombo finds Jhené embracing her strength and power, coming into her confidence as a woman, a creator and a healer. She has always embraced magic in her particular brand of soulful, trippy, ethereal R&B, but now on Chilombo she has taken it all to another level.

THE MAGIC HOUR, Jhené’s highly-anticipated 32-city North American tour with special guest Queen Naija, originally scheduled for May-June, will be rescheduled. Special merch and digital album bundles are available at Jhené’s official D2C store.

Baby Goth “I Do”

Baby Goth releases her new track “I Do” today via Republic Records. With her new track, Baby Goth conjures all kinds of feels. Over a skittering beat, her hypnotic vocals take hold and don’t let go, slipping from intimate verses into a seductively chantable hook. She takes the reins with commanding charisma and unapologetic crooning.

Through a cloud of smoke, under a gallon of ink and behind a quietly rising counterculture, Baby Goth sprinkles a dash of darkness and a dash of danger across hip-hop, alternative and pop. Her 2019 self-titled debut EP, Baby Goth generated 30 million-plus streams as the lead single “Swimming” feat. Trippie Redd & Lil Xan amassed 4.7 million Spotify streams and 8.5 million YouTube views. Meanwhile, “Sugar” feat. Wiz Khalifa eclipsed 1.1 million Spotify streams and 4.7 million views. In In early 2020, she teased the oncoming storm with “Afterparty,” which quickly surpassed 1 million Spotify streams and 1 million views on its iridescent video. She has received press praise from HYPEBEAST, Complex and more as LA Weekly recently claimed she “brings a breath of fresh air to the pop/R&B/hip-hop landscape.”
