Park MGM & NoMad Las Vegas to Reopen

MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) announced today that Park MGM and NoMad Las Vegas will open their doors on September 30, completing the reopening of all of its properties around the world following closures earlier this year amid the Covid-19 crisis. Upon reopening, Park MGM/NoMad will be The Strip’s first fully smoke-free casino resort.

Health & Safety

The health and safety of employees and guests has been at the forefront of MGM Resorts’ planning since the onset of the Covid-19 crisis earlier this year. Usher – Bad Habits

Global megastar and eight-time GRAMMY Award-winner Usher today releases a brand new single and video “Bad Habits” to be featured on his forthcoming studio album via RCA Records.

Din Tai Fung to Open in Vegas

Din Tai Fung, the highly coveted dumpling and noodle hotspot celebrated from Taipei to Los Angeles for perfecting the art of the Xiao Long Bao, will open its first Las Vegas location at ARIA Resort & Casino on October 19.

With a rich tradition dating back to 1927 in Taiwan, Din Tai Fung’s Las Vegas opening marks the 25thanniversary of the concept’s expansion to the United States, where it’s been dazzling dumpling enthusiasts across the West Coast. The late Pulitzer Prize winner Jonathan Gold once described Din Tai Fung’s precisely handcrafted Xiao Long Bao as “small miracles.” The Shanghai-style soup dumplings feature the highest quality Kurobuta pork and broth that bursts upon the first bite, fragranced with aromas of fresh ginger and green onion.

The new resort restaurant will offer the renowned hospitality, quality and service for which ARIA’s dining destination is known. A signature feature of the venue will be a lively show kitchen with skilled chefs displaying the craftsmanship that goes into the creation of each handcrafted dumpling. Wink World: Portals to the Infinite Fall Launch

This fall, Chris Wink, co-founder of Blue Man Group, will bring “Wink World: Portals To The Infinite” to AREA15, the experiential entertainment complex opening in Las Vegas September 2020. The development marks Wink’s most ambitious art and entertainment project since departing Blue Man Group in 2017. It will draw upon Wink’s well-honed skills as an experience designer, a music composer, and overall purveyor of high-impact visual entertainment.

Wink designed the 1,500-square-foot experience to take the entertaining fusion of whimsy, color, art, technology and music he pioneered with Blue Man Group to the next level. Visitors to Wink World will walk through six infinity-mirror rooms, each one featuring a stunning production number that draws upon Wink’s love of black light and other dynamic stage effects that evoke “life force” and inspire wonder. Wink’s penchant for transforming everyday objects into art or entertainment will be on display as well, as ceiling fans become transformed into kinetic art and children’s toys like Slinkies and Hoberman Spheres become elevated into a chorus line of dancers and entertainers.

Described by Wink as “equal parts psychedelic art house and carnival funhouse,” Wink World will explore the concept of infinity in a variety of conceptual and aesthetic ways. On a technical level, it charts new territory as it attempts to solve a standard problem with infinity mirrors: they always promise a glimpse into the infinite and yet the viewer always stands in the way. Wink purposely designed rooms enabling guests to “get out of their own way,” eliminating the viewer’s reflection from the equation, thereby offering a less obstructed view of infinity.

“I’ve always been a fan of infinity illusion boxes and infinity rooms, such as those by the artist Yayoi Kusama,” says Wink. “In the last few years, I’ve become obsessed with the idea of adding motion, music, and whimsy to this already aesthetically arresting format. With Wink World, I’m aspiring to introduce visitors to a fantastical world full of vivid color, surprising changes of state, and surreal, mind-bending imagery that I hope will be more than just entertaining; I also hope it will be inspiring, and perhaps even a bit mind-expanding.”

Wink employed the talents of psychedelic artist Alex Aliume, a rising star in the art scene, to bring this first installment of Wink World to life. Aliume created a custom painting for the entrance, featuring one eye that is open, looking out at the world, and another closed one, looking within. Meanwhile, one hand is raised in reverence, while the other gives the finger out of rebellious defiance—and to introduce a dose of humor. This combination of elements illustrates the sublime, yet playful sensibility embodied in all of Wink’s work. Fans of Aliume’s popular black light paintings will be in for a visual treat when they enter the sixth and final room, which will contain 30 stunning new Aliume kinetic artworks.

Jake Paul FBI Raid

ABC News released footage of the FBI raid in YouTuber Jake Paul’s Calabasas mansion on Wednesday morning. The footage revealed several firearms being carried by deputies from the home, Paul was out of the state at the time. 

Details regarding the investigation cannot be disclosed yet, but it is believed to be linked to the Scottsdale looting charges faced by Jake Paul and fellow YouTuber, Arman Izadi this past May. Paul has dismissed the charges on social media claiming to be “strictly documenting, not engaging” in the Fashion Square Mall protest.  

Izadi’s ‘Graffiti Mansion’ in Las Vegas also underwent a similar raid the same day. Staff member Richard Ochoa commented to FOX 5 News that, “They did a search of the property, looking for a certain person that resides in Southern California (referring to Paul)”. Izadi seemed unconcerned with the raid as he continued to spend the day painting his house pink with a group of models for his ‘Barbie’ shoot.

Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist, Tyga, joins forces with renowned restaurateur Robert Earl and Earl’s son Robbie, for the launch of TYGA BITES, a celebrity-owned virtual dining concept. MAGIC Cancels Live Event

Informa Markets Fashion announced today the cancellation of MAGIC’s Las Vegas fashion wholesale trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, which was set to run from September 30 – October 2, 2020. Instead, MAGIC, with sister shows, COTERIE, PROJECT, MICAM Americas, and CHILDREN’S CLUB, is in full swing to debut their digital trade event, scheduled to open on September 1, 2020 and run through November 1, 2020.

MAGIC, the largest domestic fashion tradeshow in Las Vegas, which includes WWDMAGIC, PROJECT, MICAM Americas, POOLTRADESHOW, STITCH, and SOURCING at MAGIC draws an audience of international and domestic retailers, brands, media, and industry influencers. The Neon Museum

The four-hour drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas consists mostly of the pristine and sprawling landscape of the Mojave. Travelers who make the trip after work and into the night know they’ve crossed into Nevada when the subtle glow on the horizon becomes increasingly stronger. This glow shines from Vegas’ unique neon signs. The iconic Vegas neon signs are more than glowing advertisements, they are pieces of history, and a nonprofit institution called The Neon Museum celebrates them.

Many of these historic works of art have been donated to The Neon Museum. One of these donations is the eighty-two foot tall Gibson Les Paul known as the Hard Rock. Another shining relic that can be found at the museum is the Andy Anderson sign of the neon milkman. Anderson Dairy was a staple in Las Vegas ever since its establishment in 1907 and the deliverymen were the source of fresh milk, since citizens of Las Vegas didn’t yet have refrigeration. Some signs ironically look like modern art sculptures, like the pool player made of sheets of metal, welded together to advertise Doc & Eddys pool hall. These monumental pieces of history transport visitors to a vintage version of the Las Vegas strip.

The Nevada Arts Council, National Endowment for the Humanities, and Nevada Humanities are among the various organizations supporting the space; which also can hold weddings, photo/video shoots, and events in general. For all ages, The Neon Museum has proven to be an unmissable intersection of Vegas history, rugged Americana, and creativity.
