MACHINE GUN KELLY LAUNCHES SIGNATURE GUITAR

MACHINE GUN KELLY AND SCHECTER ANNOUNCE THE LAUNCH OF THE “MACHINE GUN KELLY SIGNATURE PT”

Recording artist and superstar Machine Gun Kelly worked closely with Schecter designers to create the custom signature MGK Tickets To My Downfall pink guitar which is now available to fans.

This riff machine features an alder body and a Canadian rock maple bolt-on neck that has carbon fiber reinforcement rods for extra stability and has been shaped to a thin “C” profile for high velocity soloing and comfort. The neck joint construction allows easy access to the upper frets and the 14” radius ebony fingerboard provides all the warmth, sustain, and effortless playability you could ever want.

The “Machine Gun Kelly signature PT” also features an overwound Schecter Pasadena Plus pickup in the bridge position which delivers a modern tone that has an aggressive, balanced punch when driven, but also clear and mellow mids and highs, allowing for many options that range from thick and crunchy to jangly and bright, and the simplified controls feature a volume control and a kill switch, delivering complete control of your sound right to your fingertips.

This guitar comes loaded with the industry leading Graph Tech XL Black Tusq Nut. Rounding out the black hardware is a set of Schecter locking tuners and Schecter PT-H bridge that will stabilize tuning and can withstand anything you can dish out.

Machine Gun Kelly shred his signature pink guitar all around the country to hits from his #1 album Tickets to My Downfall this fall on his sold-out tour. With the tour now over, he’s showing no signs of slowing down. The artist is nominated this month for Best Rock Artist at the 2021 American Music Awards and Best Alternative at the MTV European Music Awards.

The Schecter Machine Gun Kelly Signature PT is sold at all major retailers worldwide (Guitar Center, Musicians Friend, American Musical, etc.) and any Schecter dealer.

Machine Gun Kelly – papercut

Fresh off his newly minted VMA nomination for “my ex’s best friend,” Machine Gun Kelly embarks on his new journey this week. After announcing his sixth album, born with horns, via a tattoo posted to his social media on Monday, Machine Gun Kelly tapped renowned director Cole Bennett to helm Bennett’s first-ever rock video “papercuts” and the results prove excellent. The video will make its online debut on Cole Bennett’s Lyrical Lemonade Channel. There’s a black and white clip at the start that finds a bald and tattoo-less MGK riding down Sunset Boulevard in a motorcycle with horns. As he continues his expedition as rock’s newest superstar, MGK candidly acknowledges his constant struggles with fame and more. The “papercuts” video made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU and the ViacomCBS Times Square billboard.

MGK’s upcoming album, born with horns, follows his 2020 platinum album, Tickets To My Downfall, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and received multiple awards, including an MTV VMA, Billboard Awards for “Top Rock Album” and “Top Rock Artist” and an iHeart Radio Award. Tickets To My Downfall has been called a “game changing record” by Nylon Magazine and W Magazine recently noted “the album’s outstanding commercial success has recalibrated the landscape of the music industry.”  Travis Barker will serve as the project’s executive producer for the second consecutive album.

Last week, MGK delivered a surprise performance at Chicago’s Lollapalooza Festival. There, he performed “my ex’s best friend,” “bloody valentine,” and a cover of Paramore’s “Misery Business” for his ravenous fans. This fall, he will kick off his sold-out Tickets To My Downfall Tour, beginning September 9 in Minneapolis, MN, and concluding December 18 in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. So far in 2021, Tickets To My Downfall is the biggest rock album, according to MRC Data.

Rolling Loud x WWE

Call it the ultimate mashup.

The newly announced partnership between Rolling Loud and WWE will see hip-hop’s biggest names performing alongside WWE SmackDown wrestling. This partnership is the first of its kind. No other time in history has seen a collaboration between wrestling and a large-scale music festival.

This is how it’s basically going to go down. On July 23, SmackDown will feature a split FOX broadcast with two matches being held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (same venue as Rolling Loud) while the rest are at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland.

I’m honestly extremely intrigued by the thought of A$AP ROCKY, Travis Scott, and Post Malone performing in between or alongside a LIVE wrestling match. With that caliber of a lineup, concert-deprived fans, and throw in some of the world’s most entertaining wrestlers? The energy all around is bound to be ELECTRIFYING.

So what does this mean for the future of collaborations between live music and sporting events?

I think the opportunities are endless. But before I go any further, I should clarify that while I am an enthusiast of the virtual space – I don’t foresee in-person gatherings becoming null and void, ever. There’s just something that comes with having human energy together collectively in one space. Let’s explore a few of my ideas.

Most sporting venues also double as concert venues. Could this be the beginning of seeing mega venues that could concurrently host a live music and sporting event? I see this being easily achieved even more specifically in the world of e-sports.

Or even take for example the current format of sporting events. In some capacity, small-scope performances already take place during sporting events i.e. halftime, national anthem singers, etc. Might we start to see longer pre or post-game concerts? To reference a basketball analogy, a 2 for 1? Will we see tours scheduled around team calendars? A league that is primed to do this would be Ice Cube’s Big 3.

Not all people who go to live music and sporting events go to actually listen to music or watch the game. They go to socialize and network. They may possibly have been enticed by promotions or a giveaway. They may simply want to make an impression or maybe they are big fans of an artist or team after all. No matter the circumstance, I think the ultimate draw to such collaborative efforts is the fusion of audiences and the power of sport and music to unite.

As told on WWE.com, “WWE has a rich history of integrating music into all aspects of its brand and collaborating with some of the most celebrated artists in the world. Over the years, world-renowned hip-hop artists including Snoop Dogg, Diddy, Three 6 Mafia, MGK, Wale, and many others have performed at WWE’s biggest events.”

I know that I have a bias but music has always played a very important role in sports and vice versa. I think it was Drake that said “Damn, I swear sports and music are so synonymous. ‘Cause, we want to be them, and they want to be us.”LOL!

I will definitely be tuned in on the 23 to see how this looks like in actuality. I am also eager to see the continuation in the development of how to further collaborate across the music and sports landscapes from the live production and programming standpoint.
