The wait is over. BTS’ fifth studio album, Be, is out now featuring the record-breaking, hit single “Dynamite.” This is the band’s second album release of 2020 – following their release of Map of the Soul: 7 in February — marking the latest comeback for their already historic career. While live concerts and events came to a halt and BTS’ Map of the Soul Tour was canceled due to the pandemic, the band took this opportunity to spur their creativity. The end result was a sentimental and thoughtful eight-track album, including a spoken skit, that reflected on what the past year has been like for them. 

As many sections in the US are entering a new state of crisis with rising Covid-19 cases, Be sends a reassuring message for fans to stay upbeat and hopeful with good-humored, singalongs to keep us afloat from the stress and fear that the pandemic has brought out of everyone. 

Be opens with the band’s newest single, “Life Goes On.” The song’s theme revolved around the pandemic which is made clear in its music video — directed by band member Jeon Jungkook — that features various shots of the members reminiscing on their lives prior to Covid-19 beginning with the line “One day the world stopped.” Despite its melancholic tone, the lyrics are sweet with the promise that one day life will return back to normal, but until then it is important to find positivity among other things. Accompanying the single are more somber and vulnerable songs like “Blue & Grey” and “Fly To My Room” which explore the loneliness that many people have claimed to experience from the confinement of quarantine, especially in the beginning months of the pandemic. In an article by Time Magazine, public health experts stated that coronavirus has amplified the already rising problem of loneliness in the US and across the globe. These two songs not only demonstrate how these negative thoughts have been plaguing so many of us, but it also shows the close and understanding relationship between the band and its millions of fans worldwide. 

“Skit” is a spoken word interlude placed right in the middle of the album which was originally recorded at the same moment that the group was celebrating becoming the first all-Korean group to rise to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in August with their single “Dynamite.” It serves as the perfect tool to transition the mood of the album from emotional to cheerful with songs like “Telepathy” and “Dis-ease.”

THE BACKGROUND:

Internet Money:
Internet Money was born out of necessity, a hybrid company that has filled in the gaps between the rap industry, the producer community, and the online marketplace. Disillusioned with the industry, and the way he saw rap producers being taken advantage of, Taz Taylor formed the collective in 2016 as a way to share the knowledge he’d gained from years spent selling his “type beats” online and navigating the internet’s ever-growing impact on the production landscape.

Four years in, Internet Money has expanded as a collective, including Grammy-nominated producers like Nick Mira and JR Hitmaker, and produced for Drake, Trippie Redd, Juice WRLD, and many more. “When you’re in Internet Money, you get the same opportunities that I do, you’re gonna be working with the same artists that I’m working with, and getting credits with them,” Taylor says. “Instead of working with a bunch of people we don’t know, we just have our own network that’s one big family.” Following their success breaking major artists like Trevor Daniel, and co-producing his multi-platinum hit “Falling,” Taylor and Internet Money partnered with Elliot Grange’s 10K Projects in 2019 to launch their own label.

Taz Taylor:
Taz Taylor has never cared about fame or clout. To hear the multi-platinum producer and Internet Money founder tell it, everything he’s done — from turning his online production hustle selling “type beats” into a $500,000 per year business to forming his own label — has been born out of necessity and guided by intuition. “I’ve been so tunnel vision during the last five years to make sure I got to this point,” he says. “It was just like, Let’s keep building.”

Though the 27-year-old has only been in the industry for a few years, his accomplishments in that time have come at a staggering pace, notching, by his estimation, over 500 placements and around 200 gold and platinum plaques between himself and the other producers on his Internet Money team. As their leader, Taylor has quickly become a new sort of rap mogul, one who’s built his steadily growing empire from a deep knowledge of the way’s music moves online, and he’s done it all from the humblest of beginnings.

Summer Walker Gets Festive In New “Santa Baby” Video

Today, Love Renaissance (LVRN/Interscope Records) released its first-ever holiday album featuring their brightest stars, including Summer Walker, 6LACK, Shelley formerly known as DRAM, and Westside Boogie. Along with the album, Walker delivers the festive video “Santa Baby.” Directed by maliaSHUTup, Walker is in the Christmas spirit, setting the mood right for the wintry celebration in her Santa’s helper outfit. The nine-track collection features several classic Christmas renditions such as “This Christmas” and “Chestnuts Roasting,” along with three skits headlined by Kitty Ca$h. In addition to Walker and 6LACK, LVRN’s young signees OMB Bloodbath, Eli Derby, and Young Rog also appear on the project. The entire effort is executive produced by Lisa McCall, with production helmed by Slim Wav and Rogét Chahayed.

Roblox And Two-Time Grammy Award Winner Lil Nas X Unite For Groundbreaking First-Ever Virtual Concert On The Platform
The Columbia Records artist and musical phenomenon will give the performance debut of his new single in a revolutionary music experience with all-new technology exclusively on Roblox

Roblox, a global online platform bringing millions of people together through play, announced today a partnership with Columbia Records and record-breaking artist Lil Nas X to launch the first-ever, exclusive virtual concert on the Roblox platform. Lil Nas X will perform his upcoming new single “HOLIDAY” live for the first time, along with some of his most popular hits, in this innovative and fully immersive concert experience for Roblox users worldwide to enjoy. Roblox will open the first of three free concert showings at 1 p.m. PST on Saturday, November 14th.

“We’re throwing the biggest virtual concert of 2020, and I hope everybody in the world can come check it out,” said Lil Nas X. “I feel very lucky to be the first artist to ever do this on Roblox. We had so much fun putting this together for my fans, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!”

The concert will feature a set of stages, all inspired by Lil Nas X’s songs and music videos, that are using the latest shadowing, lighting, and physically based rendering (PBR) facial recognition technologies available on the Roblox platform. The entire experience is designed to give Roblox users and Lil Nas X fans a unique way to discover and enjoy music together with their friends and connect with their favorite artist like never before.

In addition to the concert experience, Roblox and Columbia Records will also be showing a Q&A with the artist that will be streamed inside the concert venue starting with the preshow at 4 p.m. PST on Friday, November 13th.

With its accompanying video, “Ice Cream” was penned by an incredible lineup of songwriters, including Gomez herself as well as fellow pop icon Ariana Grande, plus Victoria Monét, TEDDY, Tommy Brown, Steven Franks, Bekuh BOOM, and 24.
“Ice Cream” arrives as the follow-up to BLACKPINK’s record-shattering single “How You Like That” — a trap-pop anthem recently nominated for Song of Summer at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards. South Korean superstar quartet BLACKPINK has announced an October 2nd release date for their massively anticipated debut album. Set for release via YG Entertainment/Interscope Records, BLACKPINK’s first full-length studio effort will feature “How You Like That” — a trap-pop anthem that surpassed a staggering 100 million streams on Spotify in under a month. Next month, BLACKPINK will share the second single from their debut album. As the group revealed last week, the single will include a surprise feature.

Released on June 26th, “How You Like That” debuted at #33 on the Billboard Hot 100, making BLACKPINK the K-pop act with the second-highest number of Hot 100 entries in chart history. The song also shot to #1 on the iTunes charts in the U.S. and 66 other countries (spending four consecutive days at #1 worldwide), and peaked at #2 on Spotify’s Global Top 50 (reaching the #8 spot in the U.S.).

Meanwhile, the mind-blowing visual for “How You Like That” became the fastest video in YouTube history to cross 10 million likes, as well as the fastest video to amass 150 million views. It also shattered the YouTube record for most views within the first 24 hours (86.3 million), and set an all-time record for the biggest YouTube premiere (with over 1.6 million peak concurrent viewers).
