Stomp Wars Virtual Homecoming Experience

Stomp Wars, the celebrated national stepping competition and cultural institution, insisted the show must go on for 2020, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen!

In order to engage, rally, and uplift students, the Stomp Wars program announces a historic first with the launch of The Stomp Wars HBCU-KNOW Virtual Homecoming Experience on September 26 – October 28. The event will be powered by The Thurgood Marshall College Fund and broadcast live from stompwars.com, with a live simulcast on Facebook and YouTube. The Top 2 Step Team Winners will go on to compete in the World Of Dance Championships.

Now on the event’s 13th year, on-air personality Rock-T returns as the host. In this latest installment of the program, The Collegiate Edition will celebrate the HBCU community by showcasing incredible stepping by the Greek organizations Divine 9, HBCU-KNOW Battle of the Bands, HBCU-KNOW Cheerleaders, HBCU-KNOW Majorettes, and more.

Since its inception, Stomp Wars has consistently inspired generations to graduate high school and pursue higher education. To date, more than 10,000 students have been galvanized by the event as the initiative rewrites the rules and brings us one step closer to the eradication of social injustice and systemic racism. For 2020, the core messageTomorrow can be better than today will be transmitted to the online audience.

Queen Naija Releases Video

QUEEN NAIJA SHARES OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR  “BUTTERFLIES PT. 2”  Her New Track Is The Sequel To The Platinum-Certified 2018 Single “Butterflies” View Video HERE.

Today, Platinum-certified R&B singer and songwriter Queen Naija shared the official video for her new single, “Butterflies Pt. 2,” and chatted with fans during the YouTube Premiere which you can watch HERE.

Directed by Roger Alexander of AlphaMale Visualz (T.I, Rick Ross, 2chainz) and produced by Princess Mbanuzue, the vibrant video is an ode to happily-ever-afters. Shot in Atlanta, the clip traces the many stages of a relationship – from the first glance exchanged by two strangers to giddy first dates to the deeper love that emerges over time, yet still retains a fairy tale glow. Queen Naija and her boyfriend Clarence White star in the video.

Released in March 2020, “Butterflies Pt. 2” is the hypnotic sequel to Queen Naija’s “Butterflies,”  which was one of three Platinum-certified singles from her self-titled debut EP, released in 2018 by Capitol Music Group. Partnership includes promotion of the Anthem properties across iHeartMedia’s multi-platform audio network; and collaboration on original programming

HEY VIOLET debut new video for “CLOSE MY EYES”

Fresh off a headline mini tour of the U.S., Hey Violet premiere the video for their new track Close My Eye today on Vevo. Watch it HERE. Shot in Los Angeles, the video was directed by Marcella Cytrynowicz who also lensed the video for the bands recent single Better By Myself.

Close My Eyes, which was written by Hey Violet with Sean Kennedy, Tim Anderson, and Aron Forbes (the latter two who co-produced), is the second of four new tracks the band is set to release throughout the spring and summer. The first, Better By Myself, was released in April, along with an official video that can be watched HERE. Idolator called Better By Myself as catchy as it is relatable, while Celeb Mix says the song’s mid-tempo beat and addictive chorus will leave the listener singing [it] all day. Close My Eyes is essentially about living in a fantasy land, says front woman Rena Lovelis. It’s about the idea of still wanting to be with an ex who has already moved on. There’s definitely a level of denial that goes into being in that sort of headspace because you’re basically rejecting the present reality and not allowing yourself to move forward. The song sounds very calm and chill but in the lyrical content there’s an air of tension because of that refusal to accept things as they are.

ABOUT JAKE MILLER

When an artist controls his destiny, he builds a lasting legacy.

Critically acclaimed Miami-raised and Los Angeles-based pop singer, producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Jake Miller takes matters into his own hands. Not only does he craft all of his beats and pen lyrics, but he also plays guitar and piano. This artisan approach adds a tactile touch and heartfelt honesty to pop augmented by funked-out swagger and soulful style. That sound not only pushed his cumulative plays past the 200-million-mark, but also caused the likes of USA Today to predict, “Miller seems to be on the precipice of the next level of fame. “I feel like I’ve been working towards this for the past two years,” he explains. “Everything in my life changed-from relationships to business. I became happy when I realized I could produce my own material, be independent, and do all of this by myself. For the first time, it really felt like me.”

Since his emergence, Miller has quietly and diligently worked towards such artistic freedom. In 2015, he earned a breakthrough with “First Flight Home,” which moved over 100,000 digital singles. That same year, his Overnight EP yielded the fan favorite title track, which co-starred Olympic Gold Medalist Simone Biles in its sexy video. On this steady rise, he attracted a diehard following known as “the Millertary” and comprising 1 million Instagram followers, 600K Twitter followers, and 1.1 million Facebook “likes” and counting.  He shared the stage with everyone from Ariana Grande to Shawn Mendes, and he garnered the endorsement of People Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, Teen Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Billboard, Just Jared, and more. Entertainment Weekly proclaimed him among “9 Artists to Hear Now” and Live Nation pegged him on its Ones To Watch. In the making of those albums, he found his creative compass.

“When I started out, I would go to sessions and work with other producers,” he says. “However, I took all of 2017 and dedicated myself to learning how to produce. I went to Guitar Center and bought thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment that I didn’t know how to use like a grand piano and a saxophone. Then, I stayed in my apartment and watched thousands of hours of YouTube tutorials. I wanted to download as much info into my brain as possible, so I didn’t need anybody else going forward. That set the stage for me.”

Signed to RED MUSIC in the midst of a stacked headline tour, he dove into making more music. Miller turned the first page of this new chapter with the 2018 single “WAIT FOR YOU.” Merging eighties-esque synth bass and expansive melodies, it clocked over 1 million global streams in under two months.

The 2019 follow-up single “NIKES” illuminates another side of the artist. Backed by rich production, thick bass, and hummable guitar courtesy of Miller, it paints a nostalgic, yet personal picture of a broken relationship with lines like, “I still got your Nikes laying in my closet right there in the corner teasing in me…All they do is bring back memories.”

“I had gotten out of an eight-year relationship, and I realized that I had a pair of shoes sitting in my corner that weren’t mine,” he recalls. “It’s basically reminiscing on what we had. It’s emotional about the past, but it makes you think about the future. My favorite songs can hype you up and cause you to get emotional too.”

His forthcoming six-song EP entitled BASED ON A TRUE STORY. thrives on that dynamic diversity, hinging on an upbeat funky strut throughout and incorporating everything from live choir to horn sections. It showcases the scope of his sound.

In the end, Miller has just begun building his legacy.

“When you think of me as a person and an artist, I hope it inspires you to take life by the horns,” he leaves off. “If you want something, just go after it. No one is going to work as hard for you as you are. I want my story and music to inspire you to keep going towards being the best at whatever you want to be.”

Pop artist, Tiffany Young, has just been announced as the first Korean female to win an award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. Walking the red carpet in Jean Paul Gaultier, Tiffany took home the award for Best Solo Breakout, and captured attention from Entertainment Tonight, Elle, EXTRA, Access, and Daily Mail; amongst others.

“I am so humbled and honored that I can be a part of representing young Asian American women in music, and so grateful for my Korean and K-pop roots that have given me the opportunity to follow my dreams. This award belongs to all the fans around the world who worked hard for this. I promise I will work harder, I want to make you proud!” Tiffany states

Tiffany is currently in the midst of promotion for her first U.S. EP, Lips On Lips, which surpassed her initial solo stats from 2016 on the Billboard chart debuting at No. 9 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart and No. 30 on the Independent Albums chart. Tiffany opened up to OC Weekly about the single “Not Barbie” off her EP, explaining; “I wanted it to be a song for every woman, man, girl, boy, any human being. I never got to say that to myself and I’m so happy that I get to open up. Not just for me, but for a generation of young woman.” Her sold out Lips On Lips North American Mini Showcase Tour wraps up in San Francisco tonight, and Los Angeles tomorrow night, Saturday the 16th.

Tiffany’s life became a double-edged sword upon her move to Korea at age 15. At the same time that she was experiencing huge success with Girls’ Generation, garnering 16 No. 1 singles, 1.8 billion YouTube views, 120 awards from various organizations, 15 released albums, sold out world tours, millions of records sold, her dad’s irresponsibility in business was taking a huge toll on her. Debt collectors and other lenders would show up at various shows demanding money from her that was borrowed by her father. Luckily she had a solid support system with her bandmates and others on the GG team, which bolstered her and gave her the strength to continue on.

“Life continues to challenge me and inspire me everyday and I think that is just our human experience,” the artist says, “As each day, month and year pass, I am more motivated and feel so humbled by the gifts that I have been given both good and bad.  I hope the fans feel that as well. I do this all to be an example.”

As Tiffany started breaking out into the U.S market in 2018, her personal struggles with her dad’s bad choices began to bubble up on social and traditional media once again. Being the brave and powerful young woman that she is, Tiffany decided to face all of the attention about her father head on and chose to use the unfortunate situation as inspiration for her single, “Born Again.” Co-written by Tiffany, the lyrics and emotion behind “Born Again” come straight from these lifelong experiences and struggles; “The lyrics come from deep inside me as inspiration to others and to myself to be authentic and find strength in being vulnerable. I hope that this song conveys my willingness to grow and to also show others that even through sad and heartbreaking times, you can not only survive but thrive.”   

Tiffany grew up in California, and as a young child felt neglected by her father’s inconsistent lifestyle. After her mom passed, Tiffany found true solace in music which then became her passion. “I do music because it saved me, and I hope with what I have done and who I am as a person, I can connect and can heal others to help them find a way to smile.” The path that opened up for her because of this love of music  led her to Korea alone at 15, join Girls’ Generation, who remains as one of the biggest, and most important K-Pop girl groups of all time.

With 10 years of touring, writing, singing and performing, Tiffany came back to the US to launch her solo career. With the huge success of her english singles, “Over my Skin” and “Teach You”, Tiffany is on the cutting edge of pop music. With spreads in Rolling Stone, PAPER Magazine and Cosmopolitan, among other media outlets and a turn for H&M, Tiffany enjoyed a lot of success for most of 2018.
