SUPPORTING LIL BABY AND LIL DURK ON THE BACK OUTSIDE TOUR WITH
BIG PURR (PRRDD)” EARNS CIAA GOLD-CERTIFICATION

Back in action with the ultimate best-friend anthem, Platinum superstar Coi Leray serves up a new single entitled “TWINNEM” today. Listen to “TWINNEM”— HERE and watch the video HERE.

Sharing just a snippet on TikTok, its sound has already inspired a staggering 300,000+ fan videos thus far. Now, the final recording pops up off as the perfect banger for besties to share. Coi’s fiery flows practically singe the beat before she delivers an unshakable hook. In the video, she gets dapper with her crew as she declares “that loyalty everything.”

Making her grand debut, Coi just took over New York Fashion Week. She rocked custom looks for both Moschino and Laquan Smith, and PAPER chronicled her domination this year.

Right now, she’s supporting Lil Baby and Lil Durk on The Back Outside Tour across North America. Check out the remaining dates below.

Leray’s last single, “Okay Yeah,” has amassed nearly 2 million streams to date. Uproxx praised the single, writing that Leray “extends her streak of consistent flexing by bragging about her wealth, shopping habits, and jewelry all while also brushing off her haters in the process.” Revolt wrote that Leray “has no plans of letting up.” Not to mention, “Okay Yeah” notably features on the blockbuster Madden 22 in-game and on the Official Soundtrack Album.

It arrives in the wake of her recent banger “At The Top” [feat. Kodak Black & Mustard]. To date, it has racked up over 4.2 million streams and earned widespread praise. UPROXX highlighted “variety of flows from the lilting melody of the hook to a Playboi Carti-esque, clipped cadence at the beginning of her verse,” and The Source assured “Coi Leray is keeping her hot streak going.” HotNewHipHop put it best, “she’s only concerned with things that will help her ‘elevate,’ and she’s stuck to her word.” Not to mention, she stands out as among this year’s coveted XXL “Freshman Class.”

Coi shows no signs of stopping or slowing down. In 2021, she served up “Bout Me.” Receiving critical acclaim, Complex praised her integration of “of pop and hip-hop worlds, with her oscillating between staccato raps and warbling, auto-tuned vocals,” and Hip Hop Weekly noted she “keeps the hits coming.”

It followed closely on the heels of the blockbuster music video for “BIG PURR (Prrd)” which recently earned RIAA Gold Certification.  Right out of the gate, it racked up 1.7 million views in less than a week. HipHopDX raved, “One of 2021’s hottest collaborations has an even hotter video to match its Billboard-blazing hype,” and UPROXX put it best, “Coi Leray’s 2021 is off to a fantastic start.” It’s already amassed over 40 million total streams and counting.

Since its release, “BIG PURR (Prrd)” has spawned 660K-plus videos on TikTok with nearly 50 million views. The song has also charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and Rolling Stone Top 100 songs charts, where it continues to climb. Its predecessor “No More Parties” picked up her first gold plaque from the RIAA and scaled the Billboard Hot 100, where it’s ascending the top 30. It soundtracked nearly 500k videos on TikTok with over 71.5 million views. The “No More Parties (Remix)” music video remains in the Top 10 most watched videos on VEVO and a fixture in mtvU’s rotation.

Coi also made her television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with a performance of “No More Parties.” Watch it HERE.

Accelerating her rapid rise, Coi holds a spot in the Top 5 of the Billboard Emerging Artists chart and on Rolling Stone’s Breakthrough 25. Additionally, Billboard christened her the “R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the Month.” Continuing her takeover, she spoke to Complex and In The Know about “first date style” and unveiled how to make hot banana pudding on the fan favorite original content series Cooking with Coi Leray. She also graced the lineup of Rolling Loud in Miami on July 24.  What’s more, Coi has received public support from industry heavy weights such as DrakeMegan The StallionCardi B and CityGirls- JT & Yung Miami.

Coi Leray also stars in a new campaign for the SKIMS “Cozy Collection” by Kim Kardashian West. For the campaign, Coi Leray modeled the new collection and linked up with singer Destiny Rodgers for a special SKIMS TikTok to Destiny’s song, “Tom Boy” which was reposted on Instagram stories and praised by Kim Kardashian West. Coi can be seen in the official video for the revamped single.

A beautiful Revolution Pt. 2 via Eschelman Red Rose Inc. for use by 360 Magazine

Common × Seun Kuti × Black Thought – When We Move

Seun Kuti, son of Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti and an Afrobeat legend in his own right, accompanied superstar American rappers Common and Black Thought on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on August 19th.

The trio debuted “When We Move,” the first single from Common’s upcoming album A Beautiful Revolution (Pt. 2), available September 10th. The track features Seun as a vocalist and saxophonist alongside Black Thought, cofounder and MC of The Tonight Show house band The Roots. A sequel to the 2020 release of A Beautiful Revolution (Pt. 1), Pt. 2 highlights talents such as multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Brittany Howard, singer PJ, guitarist and singer Marcus King, guitarist Isaiah Sharkey, and poet Morgan Parker.

Seun joined the studio performance at Rockefeller Plaza virtually from the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos, Nigeria, where he played live. Founded by Fela, the original Afrika Shrine was a club that served as a cultural gathering spot from its 1972 opening until his death in 1997. The Kuti family built the New Afrika Shrine in 2000, creating a newer and larger community hub in the same ethos as the Shrine.

Led by Fela’s daughter Yeni, The New Shrine features weekly performances from his son Femi and monthly performances from Seun alongside Egypt 80, his father’s former band that he now leads. It is also the host of Felabration, a weeklong music festival created in memory of Fela and held during his birthday annually. The 24/7 venue is a massive draw for visiting musicians, including Bootsy Collins, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Skepta, and Bono.

Merging the history of African jazz, soul, and funk music with the contemporary hip hop and rap scene, Seun and Common celebrate the longstanding influence of Black culture. While Pt. 1 was intended to “channel all of our pain and outrage into something productive, inspirational, and good,” said Common to Rolling Stone. “Pt. 2 was created with hope and inspiration in mind,” said his recent statement. “The spirit of the album was meant to emulate what a greater day would sound and feel like.”

Check out the full performance on YouTube.

Clairo Releases Sophomore Album Sling

Clairo has released her highly anticipated sophomore studio album, Sling, today via FADER Label/Republic Records.

Co-produced with Grammy® Award-winning producer Jack Antonoff, Sling was recorded at Allaire Studios in Upstate New York and features 12 tracks, including her critically acclaimed track, Blouse, which the 22-year-old performed live on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last month.

“I’m so excited for you to hear this record, I hope you enjoy it,” Clairo reveals. “It’s for mom, for Joanie, for me and for you.”

Claire Elizabeth Cottrill, known professionally as Clairo, began her love affair with music in her hometown of Carlisle, Massachusetts. When she was 13, she started posting covers of popular songs to her YouTube channel and Bandcamp. Her song Pretty Girl went viral on YouTube in 2017, just a few months before she was signed with her first talent agency. Praised for her diary-worthy stories earmarked by her devilishly sharp commentary and angelically intimate vocals. The singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer has quietly threaded these stories into the fabric of popular culture since she first surfaced as a phenomenon out of her dorm bedroom. Following the success of her 2018 debut, Diary 001 EP, Clairo unveiled her 2019 full-length debut album, Immunity (FADER Label). Masked Wolf – Say So

Elektra recording artist Masked Wolf has unveiled his brand new single “Say So,” available today on all DSPs HERE. The buoyant track is an early contender for song of the summer, and marks the Australian rapper’s much anticipated, follow up to his global smash “Astronaut In The Ocean” which has already gone to #1 in 8 countries around the world and amassed over a BILLION streams to date. “Say So” sees Masked Wolf collaborating once again with “Astronaut” producer Tyron Hapi. Watch the companion lyric video for “Say So” HERE.

Masked Wolf explains: “It’s always important for me to say something with my music, even if the deeper message is hidden inside of what sounds like a fun, upbeat song. In ‘Say So,’ I was writing about how, in times of trouble, we often try to act like we’re still okay, even when we really aren’t. No matter how bad the situation is or how close we are to self-destructing, we think that, if we keep telling ourselves we’re ok, then maybe we will be. We think ‘if we say so, then we say so…’ but really we need help.”.

“Astronaut In The Ocean” has also proven to be a multi-format phenomenon in the U.S., climbing into #1 on the Rhythmic chart while remaining a mainstay in the Top 10 at Top 40 radio. The song has spent 20 weeks and counting on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #6 and holding at 12 this week. Meanwhile, the official music video has logged over 180 million views on YouTube alone. Masked Wolf made his world television debut with an epic performance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” followed by his first, primetime television appearance on The Voice and, most recently, on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” Last month, Masked Wolf released “Gravity Glidin’,” a track that he explained as “the response to Astro. Where ‘Astronaut In The Ocean’ is about not being where I should be, this song is about me feeling like I’ve found my place and finally gliding through the environment I was born to be in.”

Look out for much more to come from Masked Wolf in 2021.

About Masked Wolf

Transforming from a mild-mannered man by day into an unrestrained beast in the studio, Masked Wolf (aka, Harry Michael) has unassumingly established himself as a powerful, passionate, and primal hip-hop force. After graduating from school, the Sydney, Australia native tirelessly worked in sales to fund recording. He even took out a loan to build a home studio as he cut hundreds of songs and logged thousands of hours in the lab. In 2018, he dropped his independent debut “Speed Racer.” It gathered millions of streams and turned heads across Australia. Following “Night Rider” and “Water Walkin,” he unveiled “Astronaut in the Ocean.” Awash in airy guitar, jagged 808s, neon keys, and deft wordplay, he submerged himself in honest lyricism, facing depression head-on. That one-two-punch of a recognizable riff and chantable chorus organically caught fire online. It quickly incited 350,000-plus TikTok videos, spanning everything from footage of U.S. military Blackhawk chopper crews to welders and ice fisherman. Meanwhile, Kansas City Chief Super Bowl champ quarterback Patrick Mahomes even incorporated the tune into an Instagram post, fueling its explosion in early 2021. Amassing streams in the hundreds of millions and counting, the buzzing rapper and singer unleashes a torrent of personal truths and emotions on his 2021 debut for Elektra Records and more to come.

Joy Oladokun – In Defense of My Own Happiness

Joy Oladokun debuts new song, judas, from the deluxe album in defense of my own happiness (complete).

Breakthrough singer, songwriter and musician Joy Oladokun’s new deluxe album, in defense of my own happiness (complete), is out today via Amigo Records/Verve Forecast/Republic Records. The special extended edition includes all 14 tracks from her major label debut, in defense of my own happiness, as well as the ten additional songs from her self-released 2020 record, in defense of my own happiness (the beginnings), and one new track, judas.

In celebration of the new music, Oladokun will be featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered” this afternoon speaking with host Ari Shapiro, and recently made her debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert performing sunday from Nashville’s newly opened National Museum of African American Music.

Released last month via Amigo Records/Verve Forecast/Republic Records, in defense of my own happiness finds Oladokun forging her own path, sharing the unique perspective she’s gained from living in today’s world as a black, queer woman and first-generation child of Nigerian immigrants. Born in Arizona and now living in Nashville, her musical exploration began at age ten when she was inspired to learn guitar after seeing a video of Tracy Chapman—the first time she’d ever seen a black woman play the instrument.

Recently named one of the “Best Albums of 2021 So Far” by Rolling Stone and Variety, and one of Billboard’s “Best Albums by LGBTQ Artists of 2021 So Far,” in defense of my own happiness features special collaborations with Maren Morris (Bigger Man), Jensen McRae (wish you the best) and Penny & Sparrow (heaven from here) and continues to receive widespread critical praise:

“She has a remarkable ability to distill how forces at work in the world…she can make even social and political protest feel like an intimate, warmly human act”—NPR Music

“a serious talent with a kind of low-key, casual ease…she’s always seeking out the light to point the way, making for one of the year’s most uplifting listens.”—Rolling Stone

“one of the hottest new singer-songwriters making music…surgical songwriting and soulful vocals that will send chills down your spine on each repeat listen.”—Billboard

“Joy Oladokun is a rare talent who manages to dissect Christianity, queerness, race and mental wellness with a delicate yet determined touch”—Vogue

“Oladokun’s message is not only timely, but essential.”—them.

“a stunning major label debut…any Nashville musician worth their salt should be pinching themselves to work with Oladokun, among the most exciting talents this city has seen in years.”—The Tennessean

“the rising singer-songwriter proves her worth as a master storyteller”—American Songwriter

Furthering her breakout year, Oladokun will tour throughout the fall including upcoming performances at Newport Folk Festival, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits as well as several dates supporting Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit and Dermot Kennedy.

Oladokun has continued to receive widespread attention in the past year, including recent performances of album track, breathe again, on NBC’s TODAY and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The song also received a key placement on NBC’s This Is Us, propelling the track to reach #3 on Shazam’s U.S. Top 200 while also charting globally. Additionally, Oladokun has been named a member of the inaugural #YouTubeBlack Voices Class of 2021, an NPR Music/Slingshot’s 2021 Artists to Watch, a Billboard LGBTQ Artist of the Month, Spotify’s RADAR US: Artists to Watch 2021, Amazon Music’s Artists to Watch 2021 and Vogue’s #1 New LGBTQ Artists to Listen to Now, and was recently highlighted as part of HULU’s “Your Attention Please: The Concert ” alongside 24kGoldn, Kiana Ledé, Lil Yachty, and Swae Lee. In addition to This Is Us, her music has been featured on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, ABC’s Station 19 and NBC’s America’s Got Talent. Allison Ponthier — Faking My Own Death from Hillary Siskind for use by 360 Magazine

ALLISON PONTHIER — FAKING MY OWN DEATH

Twenty-five-year-old singer-songwriter Allison Ponthier will release her debut EP, Faking My Own Death, on August 6 via Interscope Records. You can pre-save Faking My Own Death HERE. Today, she shared her spellbinding new single, “Hell Is A Crowded Room.” Ponthier’s crystalline voice skims along a gentle guitar as she explores a common fear. “Hell Is A Crowded Room” is available HERE. You can view the visualizer for the song HERE.

‘Hell Is A Crowded Room’ is a song about pushing through social anxiety, especially when it manifests in a really physical way,” explains Allison Ponthier, who wrote the song with Rick Nowels (Lana Del Rey, Stevie Nicks), who produced it along with Dean Reid and Brandon Shoop. “I always wondered why a shy person like me would choose to be an artist when it’s constantly putting yourself in front of people, and I think HIACR is a response to that. It took on a much more intense meaning post-pandemic, but I also think that it’s an applicable song for anyone that gets nervous in groups and is doing their best to be brave enough to get through it.”

Ponthier will join Lord Huron on select dates for the Long Lost Tour which kicks off September 9th in Philadelphia and hits various venues in New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Seattle, Portland and other markets across the country. Check out the full itinerary HERE. They recently performed their collaboration “I Lied,” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Watch it HERE.

Growing up as a wide-eyed misfit in the Lone Star State, Ponthier dreamed of running away to New York City. When she made the move to Brooklyn at age 20, she felt out-of-place in a new way—like a goody-two-shoes Southerner in the epicenter of East Coast hipsterdom. The corresponding internal journey has inspired a string of reflective, idiosyncratic yet relatable songs.

Faking My Own Death merges raw self-expression with a sound both timeless and delicately inventive, tapping Ponthier’s affinity for indie-folk and alt-rock, yet hinting at her country roots with its heart-on-sleeve storytelling. Additional producers who joined her in the studio include Mike Crossey, Ethan Gruska, Dan Wilson and Adam Melchor. Along with “Hell Is A Crowded Room,” the EP features her debut single, “Cowboy”—which was an Apple Music World First—and “Harshest Critic.” See below for track listing.

Billboard said, “’Cowboy’ immediately captures and captivates as both a personal and professional coming-out story” while FADER called the track a “bright slice of queer country-pop.” In this feature, Vogue delved into the details behind the accompanying video, directed by Jordan Bahat and informed by the campy B-movies that Ponthier adores.

Teen Vogue noted, “‘Harshest Critic’ continues her enjoyable, introspective musical hot streak.” V Magazine declared, “You’re going to need to learn to pronounce this name because Allison Ponthier (Pon-tee-ay) is here to stay.”
