JUANES – Un Dia Normal

Celebrating a milestone anniversary for one of Latin Music’s seminal and uplifting albums this century, Universal Music Latino has announced two special 20-year anniversary editions of JUANES’ record-setting and global breakthrough album, Un Dia Normal. A digital-only 20-year Anniversary edition (remastered in HighResAudio and Dolby Atmos) is now available at all major Digital Music providers, while a limited vinyl, CD and cassette special edition (providing fans with a combination of demo recordings & Juanes‘ personal commentary) can now be pre-ordered HERE. Here’s what people had to say.

“Twenty years ago, Juanes released his breakthrough album…  with its mix of catchy pop, cutting rock, and traditional Latin sounds, Un Día Normal took him to an entirely new level. It spent 92 weeks on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart, setting a record at the time, and it spun off gigantic back-to-back hits such as ‘A Dios Le Pido,’ ‘Mala Gente,’ and ‘Es Por Ti,’ all songs that helped define pop-rock in Spanish for that era. The album won six Latin Grammy [awards], including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year—and it made Juanes a star. …he remembers putting together the album during a hectic, emotional time, filled with highs and lows that inspired the sound of the record. He talks about the changes he was going through at the time, how he drew from his past, and how Un Día Normal changed the game,” said Rolling Stone.

“One of Latin Music’s greatest… and most essential albums…  Juanes‘ contagious beats and socially conscious lyrics were a huge success… single ‘A Dios le Pido’ became a Latin anthem… and  ‘Un Dia Normal’ conquered the Billboard Latin Albums chart for two straight years, remaining in the top 10 for 92 weeks and won [six] Latin Grammy awards. …it perfectly captured the mainstream possibilities of singing in Spanish,” said Billboard.

Juanes on the Album

“I was passing through a very dark moment and a very light moment, and I think Un Día Normal really showed that in the music. Songs like ‘A Dios le Pido’ and ‘Es Por Ti’ were inspired by my family, my hope for better days, and also my wife, actually. I was completely in love and I thought at [the] time that my life was really changing in a very positive way. Un Día Normal reflected all of that. At the beginning of my musical journey, I started with folk music from all of South America. It was very normal [for] me to listen to tango and bolero, rancheras, vallenatos, cumbias. Then, when I became a teenager, I became crazy over rock music. I was an extremely big fan of heavy metal and Metallica. And then at some point around my twenties, I just realized that I needed to go back to my roots and I wanted to bring some elements of all of that to my music.”

FLO – Cardboard Box

London-based girl group FLO releases the acoustic video for their buzzing single “Cardboard Box.”

Watch the acoustic video for “Cardboard Box” HERE and the official video HERE. In the video, they showcase their love for honeyed harmonies and rich emotion, fusing the classic old school R&B they still obsess over.

When British girl group FLO broke onto the music scene with “Cardboard Box,” their fearless debut single and official video that has captured the essence of a group at the helm of their music and visual identity, the world took note. Receiving love from global superstars including Missy Elliot, SZA, Victoria Monet and JoJo, with one tweet stating “the uk girl groups are coming hard,” featuring a clip of “Cardboard Box,” has led to over 3 million views.

Already receiving critical praise from, i-D, NME, Complex, and more, “Cardboard Box” is a staggering introduction to the world of FLO. The lyrics are harmonized over an immaculate MNEK production that fuses early ‘00s R&B, complete with irreplaceable-esque guitar figures and dancehall flavors. With an ethos of self-love, female empowerment and supporting women in music, FLO have already built a loyal fanbase on TikTok (over 150k followers and  4.1m likes) having been called “the future of R&B” (Complex) for their stripped back acapella sessions, giving new life to their favorite tunes with unbreakable chemistry.

FLO’s origin story speaks to their name—it flowed. Stella spent the first few years of her life in Mozambique before moving to the UK aged five, and met Renée at school in London, where they bonded over their joint love of singing and were familiar with Jorja via social media. Jorja was born in Germany and grew up in Hertfordshire and was on her own musical journey, but it was a chance meeting at an audition where they all locked eyes: “I saw the girls and we screamed across the room. I knew from that moment we were about to start something big,” says Jorja.

For the past two years FLO have honed everything from their sound to their look (“Us but elevated,” as Stella succinctly puts it), working with the likes of LOXE (Grammy-nominated, NAO), KABBA, Aston Rudi (Mahalia), newcomer Jamal Woon, and KAYTRANADA collaborator Lauren Faith. The sisterly bond within FLO runs deep, having all been raised by powerful single mothers and understanding the gravity, hustle and tenacity of picking this career path. It is clear that FLO’s natural bond is crystalline, and the life situations they are beginning to navigate have only brought them closer and stronger together. Journey – You Got the Best of Me

As one of the world’s most beloved rock bands, Journey continues to create new music and thrill audiences night after night in sold-out arenas worldwide in conjunction with AEG as their promoter.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, Journey have 25 gold and platinum albums, including the fifteen-million selling Greatest Hits collection, with total sales adding up to 80 million records around the world.

Emerging from the pandemic with a supercharged new studio line-up, the members of Journey unleashed the first single “You Got The Best Of Me” off their forthcoming studio album, Freedom—due out July 8 via BMG—is available for pre-order HERE

“You Got The Best Of Me” will be followed this summer by an epic, fifteen-track set of new original songs that brings back the grand scale of the group’s greatest moments, along with updated and bold new directions and sounds.

“I wanted kind of a punky rendition of ‘Any Way You Want It'”, says the group’s founding member, guitarist, songwriter, and producer Neal Schon about the single. “I usually don’t go in saying I’m going to look for something like that, but then it just came to me, like “Wheel in the Sky” did years ago. It just kind of flew out of my mouth.”

While the forthcoming album was made with visions of arena and stadium stages, it started from humble beginnings. In 2020, as COVID swept the globe, Schon was stuck at home like the rest of us. “During the pandemic, there wasn’t much to do,” he says. “I spent a lot of time in my little studio at home, learning how to play keyboards and looping. Some of those ideas ended up being songs. So it kind of came out of nowhere.”

Listen to the new single, “You Got the Best of Me,” HERE.

As the band’s legend continues to grow larger and their touring gets bigger, Freedom will be the first album of new material to be released in eleven years, since 2011’s Eclipse, and in addition to long time keyboard player and primary lyricist Jonathan Cain and vocalist Arnel Pineda, one more member was recruited for the upcoming album—bassist extraordinaire Randy Jackson, who had played on Journey’s 1986 album Raised on Radio.

They will also be going on a full North American tour. For ticket info, click HERE. Journey and AEG have announced four exclusive Las Vegas show dates featuring special symphony orchestra performances at the new, state-of-the-art Resorts World Theatre. Doechii Official Thumbnail via Universal Music Group for use by 360 Magazine

Doechii – Crazy

Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) and Capitol Records‘ new artist Doechii drops the song and video for “Crazy.” The record and the visual challenges the stigmatized imagery of the female form, with both the director, C. Prinz, and Doechii working extensively over the last four months developing the narrative of this film: intentionally and meticulously crafting each scene and frame to tell a story derived from both of their personal and shared experiences.

“Crazy is about un-contained power, creativity and confidence. People call you crazy when they fear you or they don’t understand you,” says Doechii. “So when I use it in the song I’m reflecting that energy back on them to show them themselves.”

Listen HERE and watch  HERE.

On “Crazy” the Tampa rapper, singer, dancer, fashionista, and genre-disruptor attacks with aggressive flexes, colorful cadences and shouted raps while conveying a range of intense emotions. The vicious and surreal music video matches the song’s controlled chaos. Doechii, and likewise nude women, wield guns, dance in dynamic choreography and engage in destruction. The hybrid of hip-hop and broken beat finds Doechii raging as she attempts to empower the exponential capacity of women in every form of their being.

Video director C. Prinz states the film is a visual metaphor for “the hardships women go through in their ascension to power” that asks viewers “to see the female form not in moments of sexuality but instead for what we all go through, what we survive through and what we transcend.”

A testament to the breadth of Doechii’s sound and talents, “Crazy” stands in stark contrast to previous TDE/Capitol single, “Persuasive” a suave ode to weed and late-night partying.

Both singles follow the news of TDE and Capitol’s partnership with Doechii. She’s dominated the internet since the release of her unwaveringly original EP, 2020s Oh the Places You’ll Go and 2021’s BRA-LESS, and the single “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake,” which has generated over 33 million streams on Spotify alone. In addition to featuring on Isaiah Rashad‘s “Wat U Sed,” she was named one of Spotify‘s “Most Necessary Artists to Watch in 2022” and tipped as an Artist To Watch by Complex, XXL, Rolling Stone, Pigeons & Planes and Hiphopdx.
