Laura Dreyfuss – Nose to Nose

Award-winning actress/singer/songwriter Laura Dreyfuss releases her new single “Nose To Nose” via BMG. “Nose To Nose” is the first single from her upcoming Peaks EP set for release this November.

Including previously released tracks and two new cuts, the Peaks EP reflects Dreyfuss’ evolution as an artist. The single integrates acoustic strumming and handclaps into a warm electronic soundscape punctuated by shimmering keys and a guitar solo. Overwhelmed with a rush of happiness, she celebrates her three-year-old dog Banjo with playful lyrics about “tug-of-war” and “chasing you in circles just to kiss your face” before a heartfelt hook.

“With ‘Nose To Nose’, I wanted to capture the purest form of love, and I felt like a fun way to express that was writing about my dog Banjo. She’s such a presence in my life,” says Dreyfuss. “The lyrics seem like they’re about a person though! Musically, it’s the joy of having this unconditional love from an innocent animal. It’s a celebration of that.”

Audiences have certainly seen Dreyfuss everywhere from the Tony® Award-winning Once and Broadway phenomenon Dear Evan Hansen to Glee, Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and NETFLIX’s The Politician. Now with the release of her solo debut EP they’ll finally get to know the singer, songwriter, and actress like never before. Taking the reins, she presents her most unfiltered vision yet through engaging electronic-inflected indie pop anthems rooted in candid lyricism and uplifted by dynamic vocals.

Working with producer Michel Heyaca, she introduced herself as an artist with singles such as “Be Great” [feat. Jeremy Pope], “Better Drugs,” and “Sidelines.” Beyond generating millions of streams and views, she attracted tastemaker praise from Complex, Nylon, and more.

In 2020, Laura had initially planned to maintain this momentum with more music, but she found herself stuck in South Africa for six months at the onset of the Global Pandemic after traveling there for a wedding.

Peaks Track List

  1. Nose To Nose
  2. Sidelines
  3. Better Drugs
  4. Be Great (feat. Jeremy Pope)
  5. Pillow

About Laura Dreyfuss

Dreyfuss has quietly emerged as a rare multi-hyphenate whose undeniable presence on stage and on-screen belies identifiable vulnerability. Growing up, she learned piano and studied at Boston Conservatory. Establishing herself across theater and television, she went from a standout turn in Once to two years in Dear Evan Hansen. Along the way, she garnered various honors, including a 2018 GRAMMY® Award in the category of “Best Musical Theatre Album” for the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Dear Evan Hansen and a Daytime Creative EMMY® Award in the category of “Outstanding Musical Performance in a Daytime Program” for “You Will Be Found” as performed on The Today Show.

2022 HEADLINE TOUR DATES ACROSS NORTH AMERICA

GENERAL ON SALE BEGINS THURSDAY, 8/26

Los Angeles-based alternative singer, songwriter, and producer Tilian announces The Factory Reset Tour, a 2022 North American headline run. Various pre-sales begin throughout this week, and general on-sale begins Thursday, August 26 at 12 pm local time. For more details, please visit their website.

All dates will feature support from special guests Royal Coda, Tillie, and Moxy. Full routing can be found below.

This will be Tilian’s first tour since April 2021 release of his new album Factory Reset via Rise Records. I’m truly grateful to be able to share these new songs live, Tilian shares about the announcement. It was a journey building these songs from scratch, mostly in isolation, and now we get to celebrate them the way they were intended to be experienced: living and breathing, dynamic and powerful. I’m also eager to catch this latest iteration of Royal Coda, and I couldn’t be happier about being able to bring on the supremely talented opening acts: Tillie and Moxy.

Factory Reset reached the #2 spot on the Alternative Artist Albums chart. Writing about the single Anthem, American Songwriter praised the anthemic track, saying inspiration finds you at just the right moment and sparks fly. The album was Tilian’s first release since his 2018 album The Skeptic, which debuted on the Billboard charts at #1 Alternative New Artist, #2 Top New Artists, and #5 Alternative. To date, the project has garnered over 40M global streams and two music videos with over 1M views each, proving the excitement and potential for the burgeoning alt-pop artist. More recently, he collaborated with Marigolds+Monsters and Travis Barker on the exciting single Falling out of Rhythm.

TICKETS FOR FALL HEADLINE TOUR ON SALE NOW

Today, the powerhouse emo quintet Mayday Parade release their brand-new single, Bad At Love, via Rise Records. Listen HERE and watch the music video HERE.

Shot in California and directed by Katharine White, the accompanying visual shows a couple at a turning point in their relationship. Emotional vignettes of their journey are shown on television screens in an otherwise empty home, matching the mood of the song. The new single, which premiered on KROQ Sunday, August 15, is a stark contrast to the recently-released anthemic track Kids of Summer, which was written about the band’s carefree summers on the Vans Warped Tour. Both songs are just a small taste of more music coming soon on the horizon.

Since their formation, Mayday Parade have sold over 1.6 million albums in the U.S. inclusive of 675 million streams across their catalog, earning their spot as a household name in the industry. With a certified Gold album and countless global tours under their belt, the band shows no signs of slowing down as their fanbase continues to grow. Recently, their debut album A Lesson In Romantics has found new life on TikTok, with fans using the original tracks in their content as well as creating their own cover versions, some amassing millions of views.

The new songs arrive on the heels of the band’s recent fall headline tour announcement. Mayday Parade will make their triumphant return to the stage beginning September 8 with a two-week run featuring support from Microwave. In addition to the headline dates, Mayday Parade will appear at numerous festivals this year including Riot Fest (Chicago, IL), Four Chord Music Fest (Pittsburgh, PA), Furnace Festival (Birmingham, AL), Nova Rock Festival (Austria), Greenfield Festival (Switzerland), Hurricane Festival (Germany), and Southside Festival (Germany), with more to come soon.

2020 marked a stark departure for the Tallahassee, FL band, who typically play several festivals and hundreds of shows across North America and internationally each year. After spending most of the year apart, the band – Derek Sanders, Brooks Betts, Alex Garcia, Jake Bundrick, and Jeremy Lenzo – got together for two special virtual show events, starting with the Out of Here Session in October, followed by the Anywhere But Here Session which highlighted a front-to-back performance of their 2009 sophomore LP Anywhere But Here.

Merci – China Tiger

Merci Release New Single China Tiger

D.C. alternative quintet Merci release their new single China Tiger via Rise Records: LISTEN HERE and watch the video HERE.

Lyrically, the new single is vulnerable, expressive, and near and dear to the band members’ hearts. Fittingly, they directed and filmed the accompanying visual themselves. Describing the song as a powerful and honest expression of the pressure the members were feeling when creating it, lead singer Seth Coggeshall shares:

In August 2019, a lot was changing. We had just signed to Rise Records and were getting ready to take our first trip as a band to LA. However, parallel to the excitement, pressure and opportunity that was surrounding us were the somber realities that Jack’s mom was dying of cancer, while Colby was in rehab. When I heard about how sick Jack’s mom had become, my heart broke for him. I was struck by the painful irony of our achievements coinciding with Colby’s struggle and Jack’s coming loss.

When I sat down to write the beginnings of ‘China Tiger’, my mind was very much on Jack and his mother. I thought about things like the inevitability of life, responsibility to friends, and defiance in the face of tragedy. I imagined us all as a China tiger, the fragile embodiment of something powerful and beautiful. I imagined us withstanding the trial that was his mother’s passing, coalescing as brothers, and healing through the adventures we would have together.

China Tiger arrives on the heels of the band’s recently released EP, Subtle Fiction I, which they first teased in 2020 with their debut single Foolish Me. Earlier this year, they released the next single Haunt Me, along with its accompanying cinematic visual inspired by the Eggers Brothers’ film The Lighthouse. Check out the video for Never Coming Back HERE.

Darren Criss × For A Night Like This

Today, singer and songwriter Darren Criss releases his newest single, “for a night like this,” via BMG: LISTEN HERE. The release comes alongside the exciting announcement of his upcoming EP, Masquerade, out August 20. Pre-save HERE.

“for a night like this” arrives on the heels of two previously released singles, “i can’t dance” and “f*kn around,” each showcasing a completely different side of Darren as an artist. Describing this collection of songs as “character-driven singles,” Darren explores even more personas on Masquerade. Darren will perform songs from the EP live for the first time at Elsie Fest on August 29 in NYC as part of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival at the Prospect Park Bandshell. Full track listing of Masquerade can be found below.

About the new single, Darren shares, “What artist doesn’t want a song of theirs to end up on the permanent playlist for every wedding, New Year’s Eve, reception, afterparty, Quinceañera, Bar and Bat Mitzvah? for a night like this’ is me trying my hand at joining the ranks of those go-to celebration songs we all know and love. So, like the best of them, I made a song designed to invite you out of your seat and onto the dance floor, for the nights you get dressed up to get down, for the ones you spend a little on to celebrate a lot for. A song for those special nights you work hard and wait for, so you can go all out sharing something you love with the people you love.”

Billboard described “f*kn around” as “a slick alt-pop single built around a wiggly bass line.” MTV News praised, “With synthy distortions and a banging guitar loop, the song echoes the sharper edges of contemporaries like Shawn Mendes and Justin Timberlake’s with a theatrical flair fans have come to expect from Criss.” Darren made his late-night television performance debut with the single on The Late Late Show with James Corden alongside Este Haim of HAIMon bass, The Pocket Queen on drums, frequent collaborator and San Fermin front woman Charlene Kaye on guitar, and the track’s co-writer CJ Baran on keys.

Music has always played an integral role in Darren’s artistry. As a solo artist, his 2017 EP Homework debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Album chart. Crisshas toured to sold-out audiences around the world including headlining the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Festival with multi-GRAMMY Award nominee and renowned DJ Steve Aoki. In 2019, he also headlined the Balmain Music Festival for the Balmain men’s spring 2020 show. He has been featured on the cover of numerous magazines including such music publications as Billboard and American Songwriter.

As a songwriter, Darren has penned songs for the comedy musical Royalties, for which he was also the creator and executive producer. He received his first Emmy nomination for songwriting in 2015 for Best Original Music and Lyrics for the song “This Time,” which appeared on Glee’s series finale. In addition to collaborations with fellow artists including Rufus Wainwright, Sabrina Carpenter, Bonnie McKee, Jordan Fisher, and many others, he has also written for Apple’s animated series Central Park.

RYAN LEVINE — “SIGNS”

On Friday, singer and songwriter Ryan LeVine shared his debut solo single “Signs,” via BMG. You can listen to the new song HERE. This is the first song from his upcoming EP, Good Things To Remember, out October 22. Alongside the new song, Ryan will perform at Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles this Saturday, July 17. Tickets are available HERE.

At the end of 2018, Ryan LeVine’s life cracked down the center. His band of six years, Wildling, called it quits and his relationship with “the one,” fell apart. Like it always had been, songwriting was the only tool he knew to use as a means of processing the loss and confusion. This time however, he traded elaborate home demos for simple voice memos and focused a lot more on the songwriting rather than the production. Ryan started recording the EP in early 2020 at Boulevard Studios in Los Angeles and then connected with his co-producer Kevin Ratterman (My Morning Jacket, Ray LaMontagne) to finish the songs at Kevin’s home studio later that spring. The result was an introspective body of work which reveals a songwriter searching for answers. While he may not always find them, there is a resolving sense of peace that comes from the process.

About the first single “Signs,” Ryan shares, “It speaks to feelings of self-doubt, lack of faith, and apathy. I’m vulnerable here, even wounded, and unsure of how to move forward. I like how the song doesn’t exactly resolve or answer any of its questions. There’s an awareness of the state I’m in and a desire to move through it, but no real answers yet. Ultimately, I’m okay to sit with that uncertainty.”

Stay tuned for the official music video for “Signs” and more new music very soon.

The Heavy Hours Announces Debut EP, Wildfire

The Heavy Hours releases cover of Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now, building anticipation for their debut EP which will be released August 3.

Hitting a mid-1970s pop-rock sweet spot, this fab debut from Cincinnati newcomers was produced by Simone Felice and co-written with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. The band more than lives up to such illustrious company.” – The Times of London

“Unbelievably catchy lines and effortlessly organic arrangement.” – American Songwriter

The Heavy Hours, from Cincinnati, OH, announced the August 3 release date of their debut EP, Wildfire. The band also shares their cover version of Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now. Both the EP and song were produced by Simone Felice (The Lumineers, Jade Bird, Matt Maeson) and produced and mixed by David Baron. Don’t Start Now, released through BMG, is available for streaming and download.

The band said about the cover song, “Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now is the essence of pop music production; a cacophony of synthesizers, elaborate and squishy bass lines, and outer-space dipped vocals… however, it all comes down to the vocal melody, which – just STICKS in your brain. We’ve always worked at and wanted to re-imagine a pop anthem like this in our own production style – using acoustic guitars, upright pianos, shakers, and other analog technology. We’re really excited to release our cut of the tune to see if listeners enjoy our version just as much as Dua Lipa’s.”

The cover of Don’t Stop Now is not included on the Wildfire EP, which contains five original songs from the band and includes the previously released song Don’t Walk Away which was co-written with the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach.

On top of the music announcement, the band is pleased to announce some tour dates, starting with an EP release day show at Madison Live! in Covington, KY, across the river from their hometown in Cincinnati.

Adopting the band’s name from a line in William Butler Yeats’ Autobiographies, The Heavy Hours emerged, eager to explore a long-standing fascination with time-honored songwriting and production. Their music soon made its way to Dan Auerbach, who invited his fellow Ohioans to visit his Easy Eye Sound headquarters in Nashville for a few days of collaborative songwriting. The sessions were both productive and a revelation, inspiring the band to strip away some of their previous artifice in order to touch a more universal chord. Armed with a cache of new songs and innumerable ideas, The Heavy Hours traveled to rural Catskills in New York state, to record under the aegis of producer Simone Felice. The winter sessions proved incredibly fruitful, yielding a collection of distinctive new music that serves as an undeniable milestone on The Heavy Hours’ ongoing creative journey.

Aug 2 – Madison Live! – Covington, KY (EP Release Show)

Aug 28 – Denver Day of Rock – Denver, CO

Sep 4 – Dillon Amphitheatre – Dillon, CO
