WONHO – LOVE SYNONYM #2: RIGHT FOR US

FEATURING “AIN’T ABOUT YOU (FEAT. KIIARA)” AND NEW SINGLE “LOSE”

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR “LOSE” HERE

Singer-Songwriter-Producer, Wonho, has released his highly anticipated solo mini album, Love Synonym #2: Right for Us [available HERE]. With the release of his album last September announcing the start of his solo career, this album is a continuation of his ‘Love Synonym’ series, and is meant to dive deeper into Wonho as an artist and continue to solidify his story. Wonho’s debut last year resonated with fans all around the world, with the album quickly climbing to No. 1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart, and ranking high on the iTunes charts in 30 countries and on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales Charts. On top of that, he wasted no time taking the U.S. Market by storm; receiving notable mentions from publications such as PAPER MagazineMTV NewsAccessiHeartTeen VogueRefinery29 and Rolling Stone who stated “Performed entirely in English, the sweeping, piano-driven ballad showcases Wonho’s delicate falsetto, as he sings about protecting a cherished love despite all costs.” Without having released any music yet this year, Forbes has already named Wonho as one of “The K-Pop Solo Stars Who Could Break In America In 2021.”

Wonho is further exploring his range of artistry on this album by showcasing his songwriting and producing skills throughout multiple tracks. The focus track “Lose” depicts the story of a man who has overcome the trauma of parting, trying to get over the breakup to face and find his true self. With lyrics such as “Don’t wanna fight. Don’t wanna play. I can’t get over you. Just wanna watch. You leave tonight. It’s something I can’t do. Cos baby in your game of love. I know I’m gonna lose,” Wonho showcases his ability to embrace and exhibit the emotions he’s holding inside. In addition, the music video, using implicit fantasy elements, strongly conveys a man’s struggle to escape his nightmare. Watch the video HERE.

For the first time during his solo career, Wonho is teaming up with an American artist on the track “Ain’t About You.” Multi-platinum singer-songwriter, KIIARA’s smooth vocals blend seamlessly with Wonho’s, creating an addictive bittersweet breakup track; “You’re so hard to resist. A love that hurt like this. I wish it wasn’t hell. To love you more than you love yourself.” Co-written by Wonho, “WENEED,” was inspired by the official fandom name ‘WENEE,’ containing sincerity for his fans and the people around him who have sent him infinite support and affection. Wonho spills out his true emotions through his heartfelt delivery; “Even in the darkest times. You were the one pulling me through. When I’m back on the stage. Can you wave your hands again. This song’s for you. Can you sing it along.” “Flash” is a song that expresses the feelings of letting someone go, comparing a light to his yearning and longing. The lyrics emphasize a dreamy and sentimental feeling by comparing the flickering lights of a lighthouse to the characteristics of the other person’s emotions; which illuminate the darkness and are later recognized by someone who is having a hard time. By exploring many different genres throughout this mini album, Wonho has a song for every listener.

In 2019, Wonho’s fans tirelessly put forth efforts to show him he wasn’t alone in this world. Their message was heard globally, loud and clear; with multiple hashtags trending worldwide on Twitter for weeks on end, online petitions garnering half a million signatures, fans taking it to the streets of Seoul writing supportive notes, and putting up billboards in Times Square, and all over the world to support him. As told by Forbes, “...fans had shown their support for the artist by sending the 2017 song “From Zero,” a special track co-written and producer by Wonho, to No. 1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart to help prove his continuing viability and commercial appeal as an artist, songwriter and producer.” After months of fan-driven fundraisers, online petitions, Twitter trends and love; Wonho is thrilled to be giving back to his fans. His fanbase’s new name is WENEE; and the fandom name represents the special bond between Wonho and his fans, who have been there to support him through the ups and downs. Wonho sings passionately on the track “Coz anytime or place I’d be your shield, when you feel, like you ain’t got the fight in you to heal.”

The release of “Losing You” in 2020 was Wonho’s first step forward in his solo career after signing with Highline Entertainment, which is a subsidiary label of Starship Entertainment, the home to K-pop groups including Monsta X, WJSN and CRAVITY, and houses viral EDM star DJ SODA [Read HERE on Forbes]. Back in April 2020, Wonho also joined Maverick Management’s roster, alongside Britney Spears, Madonna, The Weeknd, and many more big-name artists.

DREAMERS DROP VIDEO FOR “TRUE CRIME”

Just in time for Friday the 13th, cosmic-rock band DREAMERS have released a deliciously dark animated video for their new track, True Crime ft. DeathbyRomy. The video is a blend of live-action, stop-motion, 2D and 3D animation, by Burton Booz. This innovative clip perfectly captures the song’s story of love and betrayal set in the dark magic of New Orleans. Watch the video now HERE.

“The band was shot on a green screen so we could capture their performance. We then cut out their heads and placed them on 2D bodies that were made by mashing up photographs and illustrations like collage-art,” said director Jared Asher Harris when describing the creative process.

“The bodies were then rigged and animated in After Effects. The skeletons and sets were all hand-modeled and animated in 3D,” Harris continued. “When the animation was finished, we outputted the video as one giant clip and cut it up as though it were a live-action music video with trippy quick cuts.”

True Crime ft. DeathbyRomy was co-written by DREAMERS, DeathbyRomy, Joyway’s Dan Armbruster, and Sir Sly’s Jason Suwito and co-produced by Armbruster and Suwito. The track was inspired by the decadent city of New Orleans and the band’s chance encounter with a male witch, who taught the trio incantations. Lead singer Nick Wold describes their inspiration as “the terrible things the crimes that we can do to each other in the name of love.”

True Crime ft. DeathByRomy and is the follow-up to Heat Seeker ft. grandson and the band’s top ten alternatives hit Die Happy.

DREAMERS release new song – True Crime ft. DeathbyRomy

Cosmic-rock band DREAMERS have released “True Crime,” featuring dark-pop provocateur DeathbyRomy, a hook-ridden story of love and betrayal set in the dark magic of New Orleans. The track was co-written and produced by Joywave’s Dan Armbruster and Sir Sly’s Jason Suwito.

“This song is not about the election,” says lead singer Nick Wold.

“We considered taking this week off of music due to this historic election. But we decided we have to keep the show going,” says Dreamers lead singer/guitarist Nick Wold. “This song is not about politics, it’s about life, and we’ll always continue to make our noise no matter what’s happening in this crazy world. We’ve done constant messaging with headcount.org, Rock The Vote, and others to help encourage everyone to vote, and we hope we’ve made some small impact getting our friends out there to vote and not take this precious democracy for granted.

“This is a love song that takes place in New Orleans, a city I’ve fallen in love with after years of doing shows there. That place is like a jungle and so seductive, where the thick liquid heat and mixture of life brings out your animal nature. It has a decadent mix of Louisiana Voodoo, French, Spanish and West African flavors and people play music outside everywhere you go. As we bounced through the streets one night we met a male witch who taught us how to do an incantation asking the Santeria spirit Elegua for anything we wanted – we partook in the ritual and this song is inspired by that delirious encounter. I was in a relationship at the time and experiencing some conflict, and while I can’t share my exact wish, the ritual was an attempt to resolve it. That night inspired the song, which is about the terrible things the crimes that we can do to each other in the name of love.”

True Crime ft. DeathByRomy is the follow-up to Heat Seeker ft. grandson and the band’s top ten alternative hit Die Happy.

ABOUT DREAMERS

Los Angeles-via-Brooklyn band DREAMERS features a unique brand of music that combines grunge, modern electronic pop, and 70s punk. The trio have spent the past few years touring non-stop, from small clubs to massive arenas to festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bumbershoot, Firefly, Reading and Leeds. Along the way, Nick Wold, Nelson and Jacob Wick have shared stages with the likes of X Ambassadors, The 1975, Bleachers, Stone Temple Pilots, Catfish and The Bottlemen, and Weezer, while garnering coverage from Fader, Entertainment Weekly and Paste, among many others.

In 2016, the band released their debut full-length album This Album Does Not Exist, which spawned a top 10 Alternative radio hit, the electro-sprinkled pop gem “Sweet Disaster.” Three other songs also charted nationally: the ’90s throwback “Drugs,” the crooning “Wolves (You Got Me),” and the soulful, brisk power-pop of their single “Painkiller.” In 2018 the band released a pair of EPs, LAUNCH and FLY, and in 2019 released LAUNCH FLY LAND, their second full-length album that spawned the alternative radio hit “Die Happy.” In 2020, the band released the hook-heavy Heat Seeker ft. grandson along with a visually-captivating live-action music video directed by lead singer Wold (Watch HERE), an animated sequel featuring sci-fi, mysticism, religion and rock, inspired by the animation of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” and 1981’s cult classic Heavy Metal (Watch HERE), and a Covid quarantine rendition featuring special guests grandson, Robert Delong, Joywave’s Daniel Armbruster, UPSAHL and Bikini Trill’s Tony Stern for a special isolation version of the single (Watch HERE)

About DeathbyRomy

Singer, songwriter, and dark-pop provocateur DeathbyRomy pays attention to every last detail. She pours both pain and euphoria into her catchy but heavy music, pitting electronic melodies and propulsive beats against hypnotic vocals and deeply personal lyrics. Now 20 years old, the Los Angeles-born Romy Flores wrote her first song at age 5 and began releasing her music at 15, mining inspiration from the iconoclastic artists she was raised on (The Beatles, Björk, Kanye West, to name a few). With her 2018 debut album “Monsters,” she soon drew an avid following and found countless fans turning up to her shows adorned in her signature eye makeup. Her Capitol Records debut, 2019’s “Love u to Death” EP, was short but sickly sweet, emphasizing her unique interweaving of rap boldness, electronic innovation, and raw rock n roll passion. As Romy’s sound has taken shape, so has her DeathbyRomy persona: the Harajuku punk fashion, the corpsepaint-like makeup, and her hard-earned, utterly badass confidence. Stay tuned for more new music coming soon.

JUTES – NEW SINGLE “BACKSEAT (KISS ME)”

Los Angeles alt/pop/rap chameleon Jutes releases his new single “Backseat (Kiss Me),” which breathes new life into the iconic 90s Sixpence None The Richer smash “Kiss Me.” This is the latest offering from his upcoming sophomore EP, A Really Bad Dream, out October 22. “‘Kiss Me’ has always been one of my favorite songs. During quarantine, I was learning how to play guitar and my homie Miles taught me to play it over FaceTime,” Jutes said. “Once I got it, me and my dude Jonny from back home started sending each other videos of us singing ‘Kiss Me,’ but we’d change the words to say dumb shit. Then it dawned on me, I should make a little flip of it for fun. I really never thought clearing it was a realistic option but here we are. Got the stamp of approval from the original band to remake a classic. Pretty rad!”

Authenticity is at the core of Jutes, who has always followed his heart. His intuitive approach and resolute determination are exactly what lifted the singer and songwriter up from a small town in Ontario, Canada. Young Jutes grew up an only child on a 300-acre farm, soaking up the sounds of Red Hot Chili Peppers, OutKast, and Ludacris, and trying his hand at basketball, then film school, then finally, lucky for us, music.

Now settled in L.A. and having amassed over 20 million global streams from his debut EP and early singles, Jutes is continuing to refine his sound, an emotionally intense fusion of hip-hop, alternative rock, and pop. In the process, heߣs earned love from outlets like Alt Press, Apple Music’s Beats1, and Flaunt Magazine, and a number of high-profile spots on Spotify’s prestigious New Music Friday playlist.
