Live Nation Urban – #WellnessEdition

In light of National Suicide Prevention and Self-Care Awareness Month, Live Nation Urban is spending September bringing people #WellnessEdition, to promote and showcase resources strengthening wellness and well-being. Through various content and live talks with mental health and wellness advocates, Live Nation Urban hopes to bridge the work of Black executives with the importance of staying grounded.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine orders, Live Nation Urban has been at the forefront of creating live-at-home digital experiences within the music industry. Meet the Founders, a live interview series, has spotlighted Black founders, executives, and staff from various brands on building out their experiences and careers within the music industry.

As a part of their Wellness Month programming, Live Nation Urban hopes to create wholesome spaces for self-care, healing and people’s well-being during these unprecedented times. Produced content will include self-care, music, playlists (available on all platforms), healthy meal ideas, and general wellness tips. Additionally, Meet the Founders will feature a variety of mental health and self-care professionals. Featured guests include, Tasnim Sulaiman (Founder of Black Men Heal), Tiffany Hardin(Founder of Gild Creative Group and Director of Strategic Partnerships & Business Development of Black Girl In Om), Darian Hall (Co-Founder of HealHaus), and Eboni Harris (Co-Founder of Melanin & Mental Health).

The Roots Jam Presents Solo Sessions 11

The Roots announce the eleventh installment of their The Roots Jam Presents Solo Sessions, including performances by Khemist and Aja Monet. Khemist is a Philadelphia based MC, Poet, songwriter, and musician, whose latest EP, Khemtrails, was just released June 19th this summer, in honor of Juneteenth. Aja Monet is a poet whose work explores gender, race, migration, and spirituality, and she follows in the long legacy and tradition of poets participating in social movements. She is currently working on her next full collection of poems entitled Florida Water.

The episode is hosted by Captain Kirk of the legendary Roots crew and will be available on Monday, August 3rd at 6pm EST. The Roots Jam Presents Solo Sessions

The Roots announce the tenth installment of their The Roots Jam Presents Solo Sessions including performances by Quincy, who recently created an EP featuring a duet with his father, Al B. Sure!, a re-work of his father’s 1988 hit “Nite and Day,” and North London R&B powerhouse vocalist Sinéad Harnett. The episode is hosted by Captain Kirk and will be available on Thursday, July 16th at 6pm EST.

Live Nation Urban * Black Music Month

LIVE NATION URBAN PRESENTS BLACK MUSIC MONTH TO COLLABORATE WITH VARIOUS ICONIC RECORD LABELS AND RELEASE EXCLUSIVE MUSICAL CONTENT ACROSS THE MONTH OF JUNE

Today, Live Nation Urban presents Black Music Month. Across the month of June, The Live Nation Urban team will collaborate with various iconic record labels each week on the release of exclusive musical content celebrating the footprint and evolution of black culture within the music industry. Content will include various music videos, artist clips, live show recaps and interviews reflecting on the history and success of each label, interviews and live performances.

The content will be available across each specific record label and Live Nation Urban’s social channels. Five labels have partnered with Live Nation Urban to partake in their celebration of Black Music Month. The list of labels include Atlantic Records, Columbia Records, Epic Records, Interscope Records, and Motown Records. Live Nation Urban’s “Meet The Founders” series airs weekly and serves as an explorative conversation with executives, crew and staff from a variety of brands, entertainment events and live shows on building their brands and experiences within the industry.

Each upcoming episode for the month of June will feature a record label executive in conversation about their history within the industry and how Black music has influenced their career. Past participants have included Brandon McEachern (Broccoli City Festival), Simone Mari & Gia Lowe (CURLFEST/Curly Girl Collective), Joi Brown (The Culture Creators & SVP of Marketing & Brand Partnerships at Atlantic Records), Ron Hill (Inspiration and Partner of Exodus Music & Arts Festival & VP of Artist Development at RCA), and Shawn Gee (Live Nation Urban & Partner of Maverick). Additionally, Live Nation Urban’s Black Music Month will include various performances including Comfort Covers and Soundcheck Performances.

Comfort Covers is a series featuring a select group of musicians from each record label roster performing renditions of a track or medley of tracks from a particular artist that they favor or have been inspired by. Past participants have included Alex Mali, Sebastian Mikael, Kevin Ross and Savannah Cristina.

Soundcheck Performances, a series which serves as an acoustic and scaled back performance for artists. Past participants have included Rayana Jay, Rileyy Lanez, JAHMED and Brave Williams. These performances will be featured on Live Nation Urban’s Instagram and YouTube channels.

Live Nation Urban’s Summer Block Party

Today Live Nation Urban reveals the details for the fifth annual Summer Block Party Festival. The preeminent destination for soul and R&B devotees since 2015. Tickets will be available on Friday April 5 at 10am local time.

Not only does the festival return to Philadelphia, Houston, and Chicago, but Live Nation Urban also schedules its very first Dallas engagement. This expansion remains a testament to the growing popularity of Summer Block Party Festival. In 2019, the stage will once more play host to genre legends as well as today’s hottest breaking talent, upholding a five-year tradition and commitment to excellence in soul and R&B. For the 2019 series, GRAMMY Award-winning modern icon Jill Scott headlines all four dates. Meanwhile, GRAMMY Award-nominated soul songstress and hometown hero Jazmine Sullivan joins the bill as direct support on the Philadelphia concert at Mann Center for Performing Arts on June 29. Soul icon Faith Evans and Tweet round out the lineup for the Dallas engagement July 5 at Toyota Music Factory. A day later, Boyz II Men and rising star Lucky Daye& grace the stage in Houston at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Summer Block Party Festival 2018

Live Nation Urban announces the fourth annual Summer Block Party Festival– the preeminent destination for soul and R&B devotees since 2015. Tickets go on-sale Friday April 20th at 10am.

 

After successfully expanding to include Houston in 2017, the original Chicago site will now host a second night for the very first time. Celebrating another first, Summer Block Party Festival now arrives in Philadelphia this summer. Once again, the lineup showcases some of the most important, impactful, and inimitable voices in soul, R&B, and hip-hop.

 

GRAMMY Award-winning modern icon Jill Scott returns home to Philly in order to headline the first night June 30 at The Mann Music Center. Miguel Fantasia top a dynamic bill at Cynthia Woods Pavilion in Houston July 7. Keith Sweat headlines the Chicago show at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island July 14 followed by Babyface and Boyz II Men the next evening July 15.

Broccoli City Festival is back and better than before, with performances from some of the industries top players. Broccoli City and Live Nation Urban partner up for the sixth annual BC Fest. The Festival will take place at RFK Stadium Festival Grounds in Washington, D.C. on April 28.

In addition to Migos, Miguel, Cardi B and Lightshow, the 2018 BC Fest lineup includes Daniel Caesar, H.E.R., Nipsey Hussle, Rich The Kid and more.

In previous years artists such as Solange, Rae Sremmurd, Lil Yachty, Erykah Badu, Kali Uchis, Jaden Smith, Willow Smith, and 21 Savage.

Tickets are on sale and can be purchased through TicketMaster.

Broccoli City Festival is a Flagship Celebration of health loving and environmental sustainability, anchored by live performances from some of musics top artists. In addition to the musical performances, BC Fest features live demonstrations on healthy living solutions and food, environmental education, and physical activities.

Broccoli City and Live Nation Urban announce the sixth annual Broccoli City Festival on April 28th, 2018 at RFK Stadium Festival Grounds in Washington, D.C.

Traditionally positing a spirit of community first and then entertainment, Broccoli City Lifestyle Group once again precedes the festival with the second annual Broccoli City Week. The seven-day incubator provides a platform for socio-political consciousness, elevating the voices of mavericks who strive to create a better world. In keeping with that vision, the week’s activities encompass 5K city runs, action events, all-night art escape, and more. However, everything leads up to Saturday’s concert.

Not only does this experience foster communal awareness and identity, but it also spotlights the culture’s musical trendsetters and game-changers.
