UB40 – CHAMPION

UB40 releases the video for Champion“. “Champion” is the official anthem of the upcoming Commonwealth Games, directed by award-winning filmmaker and Birmingham’s rising star, Daniel Alexander. Featuring local rappers Dapz On The Map & Gilly G, the uplifting and inspirational video reflects the competition’s spirit for all aspiring to be a champion and No.1 at whatever they do. The band will be touring the U.S. from August 18 – September 24. Check out dates and venues HERE.

For 45 years, UB40 has been flying the flag for their home city, and “Champion” carries this torch for the next generation with their iconic sound, as introduced by Zoe Ball on Radio 2, “This is going to stick in your head, it’s massive.”

The track also features a horn line from the late Brian Travers, UB40’s saxophonist, co-songwriter, and founding member. It was hugely important to the band that Brian featured on this momentous track and that his work continues to live on in UB40’s recordings.

“Champion” celebrates the Commonwealth Games coming to England for the first time in 20 years and is a celebration of Birmingham. It is the first single from UB40’s upcoming album UB45, which will be released in early 2023, which will be the ultimate celebration of UB40 past and present, featuring new original material, in addition to re-records of some of the band’s classics and greatest hits, performed by new frontman Matt Doyle.

Says Robin Campbell, “We are proud to be representing the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games with the official anthem ‘Champion .’Birmingham represents the best of global Britain, and it’s our pleasure to showcase this to the world. Birmingham is a city of champions!”

Adds Matt Doyle, “Champion is all about positivity. It’s about being uplifted and putting that energy into whatever gets you up in the morning, whether it be music, art, sport, or whatever it is. It’s about doing what you do best and excelling at that, celebrating being a champion. “

UB40 is one of the U.K.’s most successful British groups of all time, achieving three U.K. Number Ones – “Red, Red Wine,” “I Got You Babe (ft. Chrissie Hynde)” and “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You – not to mention 17 Top 10 singles and more than 50 the U.K. hit singles. The band has sold 100 million records while taking their smooth Reggae and Pop blend to all corners of the globe, with hits such as Food For Thought,” “Cherry Oh Baby,” and Kingston Town.” Among the accolades, the band won the Grammy Award for “Best Reggae Album” four times between 1987 and 2006, an Ivor Novello Award, and was nominated for the BRIT Award for Best British Group in 1984.

UB40 hit the road this summer in the U.S. for their BIGGA BAGGARIDDIM TOUR with The Original Wailers featuring Al Anderson, Maxi Priestand Big Mountain, kicking off on August 18 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The band will perform its worldwide hit singles in addition to songs from their most recent album, BIGGA BAGGARIDDIM. The tour will include stops at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and Central Park in New York City, in addition to Detroit, Pittsburgh, Boston, Washington, DC, St. Petersburg, Houston, Ft. Worth, Austin, Phoenix, and many more.

Tickets are available at UB40.GLOBAL.

Regard Magazine Summer Issue Release

By: Yash Thadani

Summer is just around the corner, and the best way to start the season off is taking a deep dive into Regard Magazine’s new summer issue. To celebrate the release of their new piece, Regard Magazine partnered with Burn180 to throw a night to remember at the breathtaking Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills.

As people entered the venue, celebrities were greeted with a VIP red carpet entrance. Some of the talent in attendance included the likes of Top Gun: Maverick’s Jay Ellis, ABC’s Lost Elizabeth Mitchell, and lets not forget Regard Magazine’s summer cover, supermodel and actress Tricia Helfer.

360 Magazine had the honor of interviewing Tricia about her career, and how she was able to yield the level of success. Some advice that she offered to any self-starting individual was “travel as much as you can. I know it’s not feasible at all times, but learning about different cultures and environments can really open your eyes to new things.” It was her way of saying success comes naturally when you have an open mind.

As the red carpet welcomed new attendees, the current patrons were relaxing on the building’s outdoor patio, mingling and partaking in spicy palomas made with Tepozan Tequila. The tequila itself was phenomenal and included benefits of it being estate grown, and 100% additive free. To complement the drinks, Burn180 had presented full-body workout demos with their cutting edge technology.

Safe-to-say, the night was one to remember, and the best part was nobody left empty handed. Public figures and media left with gift bags that had luxury products from brands like High on Love, Calyfx and Tiffany Scott Extensions. For more information on Regard Magazine’s Summer issue, click here!

George O’Hanlon – How Are You Feeling

Rising UK singer/songwriter George O’Hanlon makes his 2022 debut with his new single “How Are You Feeling?” available now via Harvest Records. Listen to “How Are You Feeling?HERE.

The single finds inspiration from rock icons like Radiohead, Springsteen, Nirvana and Slowdive. Throughout the track, intricate guitar work combined with an uplifting chorus makes it one you’ll want to give a listen to. “How Are You Feeling” also comes as the introduction to George’s full touring band on a single.

As a songwriter, George is able to showcase his true talents in the single. He states, “The song is about how you find your path as a person, especially during your late teens early 20’s, and the ups-and-downs that come with that. To me it’s a really positive song about people finding their way.”

About George O’Hanlon

Gaining practice through performing in the college circuit, George O’Hanlon has been perfecting his craft for quite some time. Working on his music by performing and writing for the past few years, George launched his career in 2021 with his debut EP, The Storm. While his musical inspirations range from artists like Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley and Thom Yorke, George’s music has natural literary soul. He captives his fans by referencing his own life experiences, outlining them in new perceptions.

While rising as a budding talent in the UK music scene, George has gained affirmation from Abi McCarthy at BBC Introducing and Jack Saunders at Radio 1. You can find George typically performing at grassroots venues, while he toured the UK last September with his band. They traveled to small venues around the UK together. Noting the experience, George exclaimed, “We spent hours with four of us crammed in a car with all our gear. The tough bits are service stations at 3 in in the morning and things like that but playing the shows made it all worth it.”

You can catch George performing at his first US show at Austin’s South by Southwest Festival.

Boston Manor relished their return to live music in 2021, delivering incendiary sets at the landmark Download Pilot, Reading & Leeds, and Slam Dunk Festivals. They also made it back out to North America as main support to Neck Deep with a setlist for both new and old fans alike.

Along with their headline North American 2022 tour, Boston Manor is also set to headline the UK in February at some of their biggest shows to date and this summer will see the band return to Download Festival, as well as playing Rock Am Ring, Graspop, and more.

The original version of “Algorithm” features on Boston Manor’s Desperate Times, Desperate Pleasures EP which was released in October 2021 via SharpTone Records. The EP is now available on 10″ vinyl, following its digital and cassette tape formats.

Desperate Times, Desperate Pleasures marks a concerted step into the future for Boston Manor. It’s the coining of a bold, bright new sound, building upon the bruising pop-punk of their earlier work and the big moves of their last album GLUE, to compose music that’s both heavier and more unabashedly accessible than that which preceded it. Hook-laden, coherent, blackly witty, and with a molten emotional core, it’s the opening of a new chapter, hinting at even greater brilliance to follow. This latest collection sees Boston Manor tapping into teen influences of the late 90s—The Cardigans, the Cranberries, later-era Depeche Mode. They recorded their new material at Stu Stu Studio in Brixton with Larry Hibbitt.

Valley Last Birthday The After Party EP Art via Capitol Music Group for use by 360 Magazine

Valley – The After Party

Following a whirlwind 2021, JUNO nominated, alternative-pop band Valley kicked off the new year with the release of a three-track EP, The After Party, out now via Capitol Records.

The After Party is released as an extension of the band’s previous EP, Last Birthday (October 2021) and as lead singer, Rob Laska notes “our most personal songs we’ve ever written as a band to date.” The three new songs mirror the upbeat energy of the previous EP, taking a more somber approach to the music and lyrics. “Last Birthday” is a standout track on this latest project which Valley worked on over the past two years and signifies the final release of the Last Birthday era. “The song really explains what we’ve been trying to put into words for a long time,” the band explains, “in a way it feels like the first song we’re singing directly to ourselves and our fans.” To illustrate the significance of “Last Birthday,” the band shared a Song Stories video explaining the process of writing and creating the new song. Watch the Song Story for “Last Birthday” HERE.

Last year was nonstop for Valley with a steady release schedule, each song capturing the feeling of relatable moments in time while being perfectly danceable. The explosive first single of 2021, “Like 1999” whose genesis traces back to a viral TikTok post that drove the band to finish the track in under 48 hours and went on to push their catalog to over 280 million global streams. The band performed “Like 1999” for the 2021 MYX Awards in the Philippines. Back at home, Valley was selected as Apple Music’s Up Next artist for Canada in September, joining the vast Up Next roster of past Canadian talent including Grammy-nominated and critically lauded talent like 6lack, Daniel Caesar, Jessie Reyez, Orville Peck, and Tate McRae.

Valley burst back into playing live last year, reconnecting with fans across North America. The band played their first American festivals over the summer and recently sold out shows with COIN on a 17-date North American tour. The band finished the year with two epic hometown shows at The Opera House in Toronto. Valley is gearing up for the ‘I’ll Be With You Tour,’ the band’s first-ever headlining tour with 30 dates across North America. The tour is almost entirely sold out with tickets and details available on Valley’s website.

About Valley

Valley, comprised of Rob Laska, Karah James, Mickey Brandolino, and Alex DiMauro, has spent the past two years developing organic buzz through a personal and intimate connection with their fans. Valley put together alternative pop with the care, adventurousness, and personal touch of a handmade burned CD. Cycling through moods like your favorite throwback Pinterest board, the Toronto quartet amplify sticky hooks through eloquent songcraft that’s cognizant of what came before, yet ready for the future. In 2016, Valley formed by accident when a local studio double booked them. During high school, Mike and Karah played in one band, while Rob and Alex played in another. They introduced themselves with self-written, self-produced releases, including the EP This Room Is White (2016), the full-length debut MAYBE (2019) and their EP sucks to see you doing better (2020). They joined Lennon Stella and The Band CAMINO on sold out tours across North America and even picked up a 2020 JUNO Award nomination in the category ofBreakthrough Group of the Year.” Most recently, the band released their latest EP Last Birthday via Capitol Records and joined COIN for a North American tour.

WizTheMc – Do It Over

Today, South African born, Germany raised, and Toronto based singer, songwriter and producer WizTheMc releases his latest single “Do It Over” via 10K Projects/Homemade Projects. Get “Do It Over” HERE and watch the official video Friday at 9am PST HERE.

“Do It Over” marks the third release from Wiz’s upcoming EP Where Silence Feels Good” slated for release at the top of 2022. The project will also feature recent singles “Break” and “Everything.”

In the visual for “Do It Over,” Wiz and his love interest (played by Uncut Gems star Noa Fisher) have officially called it quits, leading him to wallow in all of the things he would have changed to go back and fix it. This third installation marks the finale to the storyline presented in previous videos for the first two singles, showcasing the steps from the spark felt in a new relationship all the way to the tribulations that lead to its ultimate demise. The narrative represents the core message of the overall EP and sets up for its release. Watch the video for “Everything” HERE and “Break” HERE.

Leading up to this release, Wiz spent last weekend in Texas where he took to the Miller Lite Stage for a performance at Austin City Limits.

Where Silence Feels Good EP marks the follow up to his What About Now? EP. Released at the end of last year, it features the breakout single “For A Minute,” which has since amassed over 34M streams on Spotify.

ABOUT WIZTHEMC

Fitting for an artist who spent formative years on three different continents, WizTheMc describes his sound as “borderless music.” It’s an apt description for the 22-year-old singer, rapper, and producer, whose DIY ethos to music-making combines an ear for sticky pop hooks with nimble rapping abilities, all bolstered by high-octane production and summery guitar loops. His career hit warp speed during summer of 2020, when his peppy love song “For A Minute” became a major online hit, following his signing with Elliot Grainge’s 10K Projects and Homemade Projects. It’s since accrued over 34 million streams on Spotify alone. The Toronto-based, Cape Town-raised artist is now bringing his magnetic records to the masses.

The next chapter of his career comes in the form of his upcoming Where Silence Feels Good EP, featuring singles “Everything,” “Break” and now “Do It Over.” The project will show Wiz at his most in-tune self, marked by an over darker sensibility, drawing attention to Wiz’s emotive rasp. He uses songwriting for emotional excavation but maintains that what matters more to him is not what he gets out of a song, but what you do. He says introspective rappers like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole have inspired him to pour more of himself than ever before into the music he’s writing, “It’s been my goal to be able to put down my emotions as accurately as possible onto paper to the point that I feel moved by my own words because they feel so true to me.” He continues, “I feel like these songs are the closest to my real experience. These are the most vulnerable songs I’ve written to date.”

Corolla Cross

2022 Corolla Cross: Just Right! Feels Right!

By: Conan Zhang, Armon Hayes × Vaughn Lowery

Toyota has announced its first-ever 2022 Corolla Cross, it is designed with everyday capability and Inspiring design. Toyota Motor Corporation invited 360 Magazine to fly with Delta Comfort+ to their National Press Preview in Texas. The Preview was organized thoughtfully, providing a Covid-friendly environment along with a video and photography team on-site available. The event was held at the LINE hotel, and they offered our team a comprehensive test drive on their prototype of the car.

THE LINE AUSTIN

On the three-day lifestyle trip, our team was provided with refined accommodation. We got reception and dinner by the lakeside at Kristen’s Kish’s Arlo Grey, and after party drinks in the open air at P6.

The room that we stayed in was designed for comfort. The King bed was set aside by the minibar that allowed us to satisfy our cravings day and night; the walls are decorated with custom artwork by emerging local artists and the mini library indoor was decked with vintage books about the city. Bath products by American Medicinal Arts were offered, a modern domestic urban brand. This is the place for both indoors and outdoors types alike. Just right, feels right.

Overview

The prestigious Corolla is the best-buy sedan in the world. Therefore, it has become a signature of Toyota. Borrowing Corolla’s wind, the new models will certainly help sales. Sure enough, recently, Toyota’s 2022 Corolla Cross is the chosen one. This might sound like the cross-border or cross-country version of Corolla, but it is not. This is an SUV that has nothing to do with Corolla itself.

Performance

Corolla Cross is based on Toyota’s new global platform TNGA-C, equipped with Toyota’s latest rear torsion beam suspension, which will provide greater stability and comfort to the body.

Equipped with a 2.0L 4-cyl naturally aspirated engine and with continuously variable transmission(CVT), it has 169 horsepower and 150 lb.-ft torque. There is 1500lb towing capacity, which means it has the capability to carry a jet ski or kayak for a weekend getaway. Additionally, it brags an outstanding fuel economy at 32 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

Design

Corolla Cross has nothing to do with Corolla, inheriting the exaggerated looking Toyota SUVs. The inverted trapezoidal honeycomb mouth is connected to the slender LED headlights, which gives people a sense of aggressiveness.

The side of the car body shows strong muscles vividly through the shaping of light and shadows. The front and rear waistlines sharply surround its characteristic; the wheel eyebrow guards well show the off-road feel of an SUV. While the heavy bottom guard plate at the rear is still reminding the customer that this is still an accountable SUV. The XLE version is equipped with 18-inch Alloy Wheels with Black-Painted Machined-Finish along with reflectors set up on both sides, it is perfectly presenting the sporty posture of this car.

Technology

Corolla Cross will give you a familiar visual when you step inside the car. It is indicative of Corolla heritage. Suspended central console, LCD instrument display, rear air outlet, etc. It is very crucial for modern drivers to have an outstanding sound system, and Toyota offers the Audio Plus with JBL® 9-speaker system add on for $1,465. Technology will accompany every trip with this car, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and Amazon Alexa has become a standard configuration. They are all representative works of Japanese practicality and simplicity.

Safety

The new car is equipped with Toyota’s latest Safety Sense system, which includes functions such as collision warning and blind spot monitoring. 9 airbags are installed into the system and configurations include lane departure alert with Steering Assist, lane tracing assist (LTA),road sign assist (RSA), and also full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control. Safety always comes first, and Corolla Cross cares about you.

Additional Features & Price

  • The luggage space volume can reach 26.5 cu.ft.space, which has good storage properties.
  • Dual-zone air conditioning and rear seat vents are features of Corolla Cross.
  • The designer of this car added 20 icons hidden within the cross to brand his work
  • The price is starting at $22195 for the base model of Corolla Cross L FWD  and at this price range there is Honda CR-V,Nissan Rogue Sport, VW Taos and also Toyota C-HR. Compared with these competitors, the all new Corolla Cross is more fuel efficient and friendly for family usage.

Culture Wars – teche

Austin, TX trio Culture Wars share the release of their debut EP, teche, along with their latest single “Lose Money” from the EP.  The band, Alex Dugan, David Grayson, and Dillion Randolph have amassed over 7 million streams independently, inciting a flurry of activity on TikTok charting a top 30 on Alternative radio.

The band shares about the track, “’Lose Money’ is one of those songs that could have easily not have happened. After I tracked a handful of vocal ideas at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, it took our producer Caleb and bandmate David to point out the chorus section, otherwise, I would have completely missed it. Thanks to them, and some insane prophet sounds from Dillon afterwards, Lose Money came to life. A testament to the strength of working as a team, this song stands out as one of my all time favorites.”

Earlier this year, Culture Wars released the single “Hunger,” a twist and turn of warbling bass, shimmering synths, and a hypnotic high register hook before dissolving into a cathartic drum and key freak-out punctuated by otherworldly guitar. “I was at a weird place in my life,” Alex Dugan admits. “For me, it was a release of energy. Retrospectively ‘Hunger’ could be about distancing yourself from emotion in a relationship where you’ve had to disassociate due to dysfunction.”

Inspired by seeing New Order live in Houston, the band recorded a series of demos in 2016. Those demos eventually morphed into Culture Wars‘ self-titled 2017 debut EP. The lead single “Lies” eclipsed 2.2 million Spotify streams followed by “Bones” peaking at #43 on Alternative radio. In 2019, they retreated to the famed Sonic Ranch Recording Studio in Tornillo, TX, which sits on a massive pecan farm thirty minutes outside of El Paso directly on the Mexican border. Over the course of “drunk summer camp, as Alex describes it, they brought teche to life with producer Caleb Contreras. The isolation, yet intimacy of the locale seeped into the push-and-pull of the music. They recruited ten-time GRAMMY Award winner Manny Marroquin [Kanye West, Imagine Dragons] for mixing and put the finishing touches on the EP just as the Global Pandemic set in. Throughout the next year, they teased out teche.  “Faith,” which Alex describes as “a rock song, an electronic song, and country song, hinted at the scope of the project. Meanwhile, “Leave Me Alone” quickly approached 1 million Spotify streams as it generated a flurry of activity on TikTok fueled by videos from mega-influencers such as Bella Poarch, Nessa Barrett, and Sienna Mae. Not to mention, it landed on the GRAMMY Award-nominated Bill & Ted Face The Music Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and ascended into the Top 30 at Alternative Radio.
