Machine Gun Kelly’s ‘Tickets To My Downfall’ Debuts At #1

Machine Gun Kelly lands his first Billboard 200 No. 1 album with Tickets to My Downfall, selling a career-best 126,000 equivalent album units. Machine Gun Kelly delivers the first rock album in 2020 to top the Billboard 200. Executive produced by luminary Travis Barker, MGK’s fifth studio album bests his 2012’s Lace Up and 2015’s General Admission, which both debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. The album features collaborations with Halsey, Trippie Redd, Iann Dior and blackbear.

Lauded by Billboard for its “dazzlingly effective songs” and Vulture for its “punk rock excellence,” MGK’s fifth studio album has propelled him into a bonafide superstar in the rock world. After winning best alternative for “bloody valentine” last August at the 2020 VMA’s, in addition to his role in the latest Netflix film Project Power, starring Jamie Foxx, MGK’s ascension speaks to his tireless work ethic and sheer versatility.

Along with Machine Gun Kelly’s Billboard 200 success, he continues his torrid run inside Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative chart with “my ex’s best friend” and “bloody valentine” positioned at No. 6 and No. 9, respectively.

Earlier this week, fans were delighted to see MGK partner with NoCap to live stream a performance of his album Tickets to My Downfall in full on the legendary Roxy stage alongside Travis Barker. Next Thursday, October 8, fans can catch a full performance of his 2019 album Hotel Diablo from the stage of The Roxy.

Audio Up Media × Machine Gun Kelly – HALLOWEEN IN HELL

Audio Up Media has gathered an all-star line up of the music industry’s hottest and most relevant artists for a first of its kind, genre-busting horror/musical podcast. HALLOWEEN IN HELL is a four-part epic holiday podcast. Also, it features multi-platinum Interscope Records recording artist, actor and pop culture icon, Machine Gun Kelly (Colson Baker). As well as, acclaimed musician and performance artist Dana Dentata, multi-platinum 10K Projects recording artist and fashion icon iann dior, and recent 2020 XXL Freshman class recipient and multi-platinum RECORDS/Columbia Records’ recording artist 24kGoldn (at time of press 24kGoldn and dior hold the #26 slot on Billboard Hot 100).

Jared Gutstadt, CEO of Audio Up, and Machine Gun Kelly, created this podcast. It is a new take and homage to music horror hits like “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” meets the dark comedy of “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” It premiers October 10th via all podcast platforms. In addition, the series accompanies a four-part making-of documentary, as bonus content.

Written by Jimmy Jellinek (Webby nominated writer of the smash hit podcast, “Bear and a Banjo”) and created by Gutstadt (who has penned songs with and produced music for the likes of Bob Dylan, Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, Timbaland and countless others), the horror/comedy/musical podcast is set during Halloween. 24kGoldn and metal mistress, Dana Dentata, find themselves trapped on a soundstage reminiscent of Hell. Also, there is a sadistic host who has lured them into a competition. It’s there they must impress a jury of the damned (R.Kelly & Phil Spector) and rescue themselves from the clutches of evil. With each of the cast playing fictional versions of themselves, these performers go on a journey to hell and back. Also, there is an original soundtrack that features new music from 24kGoldn, Dana Dentata, iann dior, and Machine Gun Kelly. Further release details are forthcoming.

Audio Up CEO Jared Gutstadt explains, “Halloween, much like other major holidays, deserves its own entertainment tent pole. While people focus on Christmas, we believe that Halloween is the time of year for folks to enjoy original content. I was always a fan of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ and ‘Nightmare Before Christmas,’ and we believe we’re creating an evergreen franchise that will allow us to unlock new stories every year with original music, possibly ending up in the realm of live or visual content. Machine Gun Kelly was an extremely logical and obvious partner for us. His brand pairs well with the season.”

Jimmy Jellinek wrote HALLOWEEN IN HELL, and Jared Gutstadt it. 24kGoldn, iann dior, Dana Dentata, and Machine Gun Kelly created the special music for the four-part holiday extravaganza. Gutstadt is the executive producer of the podcast for Audio Up Media. Steve Astephen reps Machine Gun Kelly by Steve Astephen at The Familie; WME and Electric Feel reps 24kGoldn; UTA and Electric Feel reps iann dior; and Dana Dentata is a recent signing to iconic hard rock label, Roadrunner.

The official soundtrack of HALLOWEEN IN HELL will be released by Audio Up Records. Also, it is produced/co-written by Gutstadt, with musical contributions from Machine Gun Kelly, 24kGoldn, iann dior, and Dana Dentata.

Here, MGK and blackbear gloomily ruminate about a messy entanglement with their exes’ closest confidant. Instead of wallowing in depression, the Ohio titan finds solace in his ex-lover’s best friend to rediscover love. “my ex’s best friend” continues MGK’s summer reign in the music space, as he readies his fifth studio album Tickets to my Downfall, executive produced by rock luminary Travis Barker. iann dior – Sick And Tired

iann dior has released a new song and video “Sick And Tired” featuring Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker, out now on 10K Projects. Produced by Omer Fedi (24kGoldn, Ella Mai, Trevor Daniel) and Travis Barker, “Sick And Tired” will feature on iann dior’s upcoming EP, I’m Gone, out this May. Produced by Noan Riddle and Infinity Studios, and debuted this morning by Complex, check out the Mooch directed video for “Sick And Tired” HERE.

“Sick And Tired” arrives on the heels of iann’s headlining nationwide ‘Industry Plant Tour’, which kicked off January 15 in Santa Ana, and wrapped up on February 20 with a sold-out show at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. iann released his debut album Industry Plant, in November 2019 – the project has since garnered over 190 million Spotify streams and over 60 million SoundCloud plays. The album includes the infectious hit singles “gone girl” featuring Trippie Redd, “Strings” featuring Gunna, and “Darkside” featuring Travis Barker.
Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Corpus Christi, iann found instant success with the first song he ever wrote. “I was in high school and my friends told me to make a song because they knew I was good at writing,” he remembers. Despite his lack of experience, the track earned 10,000 plays in a week, all through word-of-mouth. iann then began putting out a song a week, drawing more and more listeners, and eventually catching the ear of Internet Money founder Taz Taylor.

After arriving in L.A., iann started working with producer Nick Mira, and they went on to release “Cutthroat” together in February 2019. Within a month of its release, “Cutthroat” had amassed over 13 million streams on SoundCloud, and iann began to gain a major buzz for his moody and melodic brand of lo-fi hip-hop. iann’s rapid rise on SoundCloud brought him to the attention of 10K Projects who immediately signed him and released his debut mixtape nothing’s ever good enough in April2019. The mixtape features the single “Emotions”— a heavy-hearted but deeply infectious track that racked up three million plays in just a month. A year later and the track has over 98 million plays on Spotify and continues to grow.

In discussing his process, iann reveals that the dreamy and fluid feel of his music has much to do with his purely instinctive creative approach. “Anytime I hear a beat that I love, it’ll bring out the story I want to tell,” he says. “I’ll start humming the melody and the words will follow that—it’s all just whatever comes out of my head right in the moment.” At the same time, iann’s lyrics mine inspiration from the reflective, narrative-based songwriting of artists like J. Cole. “The whole reason I started making music was J. Cole,” iann points out. “He showed me that I could use songs to tell my own story, just like he uses his songs to tell his story.”
