BROOKS LAKE LODGE

Brooks Lake Lodge & Spa is Making News and Topping Multiple Best All-Inclusive Resort Lists at 100 Years Old

Historic Brooks Lake Lodge may be celebrating its centennial anniversary in 2022, but the exclusive Wyoming guest ranch continues to top a variety of “best of” lists, revealing that at 100 years old, the rustic-luxe Western all-inclusive getaway continues to impress the media. Recently receiving kudos as a best family-friendly resort and a best all-inclusive resort in the U.S.—plus a birthday shout-out from Cowboys & Indians magazine—the remote ranch keeps the grand tradition of the great Western lodge alive.

Brooks Lake Lodge & Spa has been known for providing unique hospitality for guests at its lakeside location near Jackson Hole, Wyoming, since 1922, when it was constructed as a stopover for travelers headed to Yellowstone National Park. Now, not even a year after earning “best all-inclusive U.S. resort” kudos from Reader’s Digest and U.S. News & World Report, the remote guest ranch hidden deep in the Shoshone National Forest boasts fresh recognition from additional travel media. It’s true the century-old lodge makes quite an impression, instantly transporting guests back to a time where the pace is a little slower and the views a lot longer—a 360-degree panorama of mountains, forest and lakes to be exact. And superb meals, outdoor adventure, nature-connected relaxation and VIP service are included in overnight stays, helping spark the recent “best of” honors.

In its new “17 Best Family-Friendly All-Inclusive Resorts in the United States” list, Trips to Discover highlights the guest ranch as a “great base for families who want to take advantage of the region’s wealth of outdoor adventures among breathtaking scenery.” As the lodge has witnessed, families love the “less tech, more trek” vibe as nature hikes and horseback riding reign supreme over iPads and screen time. New families quickly adapt to the ranch lifestyle and kids love the fishing, archery and yard games with many families making a trip to Brooks Lake Lodge an annual event – often a reunion of generations.

While Mexico and the Caribbean are famous for their luxurious all-inclusive options, “many people don’t realize that some of the best all-inclusive hotels are actually located in the United States,” writes travel website SmarterTravel, presenting its new list of “The Best All-Inclusive Resorts in the United States.” Noting Brooks Lake Lodge’s standing on the National Register of Historic Places, SmarterTravel praises the lodge experience as “luxury within seclusion” and calls out the “perfect blend of peace and adventure” – with everything from fly fishing and canoeing in summer to snowmobiling in winter as part of an amenity-filled all-inclusive stay. Adding to the amenities, it doesn’t hurt that the lodge boasts an on-site spa where guests can enjoy a deep tissue massage after a day of exploring the mountains, as well as farm-to-table meals and gourmet dinner served fireside in an expansive dining hall that also hosts a notable collection of Western art.

This year Brooks Lake Lodge opens its doors to summer season guests July 6 – September 18, 2022, while celebrating its impressive centennial birthday (and the celebration continues through winter season, which begins December 19). Congratulating the lodge on the milestone 100-year anniversary, Cowboys & Indians magazine recently praised that “The all-inclusive historic resort in Dubois, Wyoming, recalls the grand tradition of the great Western lodge.”

“It’s always so nice to be recognized for our all-inclusive resort experience,” says General Manager Matthew Tousignant. “Our 1:1 staff-to-guest ratio allows everyone to have VIP service and attention. It’s so fulfilling to see our guests arrive, take on new adventures, eat, drink, relax—and eventually return to their lives enriched by the beauty, the history, the fun and the simpler, more peaceful lifestyle we offer at Brooks Lake Lodge.”

Marlon Wayans Accepts His Daughter for Coming Out via Cision PRWeb for use by 360 MAGAZINE

MARLON WAYANS

Actor-Comedian, Marlon Wayans, shares the ultimate expression of love and voices support for his daughter’s “coming out” experience.

As Pride Month ends, members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community have been shining a light on the stories of hardship, acceptance, and advocacy which have shaped the community into what it is today. Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans weaved his experience into the tapestry of stories in an interview with Dr. James Flowers for the podcast series “Understanding the Human Condition.”

“Acceptance is the greatest love you can have,” Wayans declared. “Nobody should be closeted about their life. Everyone should be able to live their life to the fullest.”

When Dr. Flowers inquired about Wayans’ daughter’s “coming out” experience, Wayans revealed his family’s wide range of reactions. Wayans accepted her with open arms when his daughter came out to him. However, her confession was met with some ambivalence from non-immediate family members. In response to these hesitations, Wayans doubled down on the support for his child.

“It’s your life. As long as you’re smiling, as long as you’re happy, daddy loves you. Love is acceptance,” Wayans said in response to his daughter’s coming out.

Wayans is in full support of loving parenting styles that promote the well-being of children and LGBTQ+ youth to live their life as they wish.

Dr. Flowers applauds Wayans’ response to his daughter and provides some advice for parents struggling with acceptance.

“When your child comes out, it is crucial that you continue to support them. While you may have many questions, be sensible that coming out is very difficult and potentially stressful. There is nothing a parent can do to make their child gay or straight, but you can help them thrive and live their best life.”

Natura Ora

In celebration of Earth Day this month, The St. Regis Bora Bora is delighted to officially launch Natura Ora. Tahitian for “Living Nature,” Natura Ora is the resort’s sustainability initiative dedicated to protecting the environment, supporting local people and communities, preserving French Polynesian culture, and practicing more responsible consumption.

“For several months, our teams have worked closely with our new Sustainability Development Officer, Lucie-Léa Viot, to develop the Natura Ora concept and we are excited to officially debut this important sustainability initiative in celebration of Earth Day,” states General Manager Emmanuel Richardet. “Our goal is to create lasting, pro-active programs under the Natura Ora umbrella that inspire colleagues and the local community to work together to protect our fenua (Tahitian for land), support the people and preserve the culture of French Polynesia.”

With an emphasis on collaboration and co-creation, the resort is working with various organizations to achieve Natura Ora’s goals including the local environmental protection organization, Ia Vai Ma Noa; Amazones Pacific, a non-profit organization supporting women whose lives have been compromised by cancer; Pae Tai Pae Uta, a waste management consultancy firm; and the Agency for Environment & Energy Management (ADEME).

“This is such an incredible destination that is rich with cultural and environmental treasures,” states Lucie-Léa Viot, the resort’s Sustainability Development Officer. “I’m proud to be given this opportunity to bring our vision for Natura Ora to life to ensure that French Polynesia’s fenua, its people, and its culture thrive for many years to come.”

Projects launched as part of the Natura Ora initiative include:

Waste Management – Repurposing of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)

The resort has partnered with the local charity, Ia Via Ma Noa, to collect and repurpose electronic and electrical equipment for donation to local families and businesses in need.

Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Market

As part of Natura Ora’s mission to support good health practices, an on-property weekly market was established to sell fresh, locally-sourced produce at below market prices to help make healthy eating more accessible and affordable for colleagues and the local community.

Coral Planting

“In French Polynesia, the protection of marine life, particularly the preservation of corals, is

essential for biodiversity,” states Sustainability Development Officer, Lucie-Léa Viot. To that end, the resort will launch a coral reforestation program that invites guests to actively participate in the planting of coral with the resort’s marine specialist. Guests will receive a diploma for their work and can follow the evolution of the coral they planted year after year.

The Green Council

This 10-person team was curated from different resort departments for the purpose of brainstorming and implementing new concepts and programs in accordance with Natura Ora’s goals and areas of focus.

Annual Earth Hour Event

On March 26 this year, the resort held its first annual commemoration of Earth Hour to increase awareness about the need to reduce energy consumption to help save the planet. Between 8:30 PM – 9:30 PM, electric lights were extinguished on the resort’s Main Beach—380 candles and two fire pits were lit to illuminate the area. The event included live music and a presentation about the origins and purpose of Earth Hour.

Additional Natura Ora projects in the pipeline include taking waste management practices to the next level by increasing recycling rates and improving sorting, further development of the coral reforestation program, installment of water fountains to eliminate the use of plastic water bottles, and increasing the consumption of local products to decrease the resort’s carbon footprint. For resort colleagues, more wellness offerings and volunteer opportunities are also in development.

The resort’s 90-rooms are comprised of charming garden view villas, beachside villas, two-bedroom reef side villas perfect for families, and the largest overwater villas in the South Pacific. Kokomo Murase Snowboard Win

Monster Energy congratulates Kokomo Murase on her first-place finish in Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle at the Audi SnowJam in Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic. In the official World Cup event sanctioned by the International Ski Federation (FIS), the 17-year-old from Gifu, Japan, earned a dominant victory. She now ranks first in FIS World Cup Slopestyle and has secured the Crystal Globe win in overall Women’s Park & Pipe rankings.

As the penultimate event of the FIS World Cup season, the Audi SnowJam was contested from March 16-19 for the first time in five years. The contest at the popular resort inside Krkonoše National Park offered one of the last chances to collect points towards winning the 2021/22 season’s coveted Crystal Globe trophies.

Scoring points is exactly what brought Monster Energy’s Murase to the Czech Republic. The young Japanese ripper dropped into the contest ranked in first position on the FIS World Cup Slopestyle leaderboards in a tie with Canada’s Laurie Blouin at 160 points. This was her chance to build a commanding lead.

And she did. On the creative downhill course, Murase worked the rail with a switch backside boardslide pretzel into a backside 900 off the jump, Cab 720 mute grab, lipslide pretzel the kicker rail and a huge frontside 1080 lien grab at the bottom. At 89.25 points, she finished 13.00 points ahead of the next competitor for a dominant victory. To learn more about snowboard terminology, click HERE

“I’m so happy, I did my best in riding this competition and I’m very happy I won,” said Murase.

After Saturday’s win at Spindleruv Mlyn, Murase now leads the 2022 FIS Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle rankings with 260.00 points, a strong 86 points ahead of Jasmine Baird in second place. With one more contest to go, Murase also commands an unbeatable score of 396.00 points in Women’s Park & Pipe overall World Cup standings. Leading the next competitor by 122 points, the Japanese ripper has secured the season’s Crystal Globe trophy.

Will Murase also claim the Slopestyle trophy? Stay tuned for the final World Cup of the season next weekend at Silvaplana, Switzerland, from March 25-27.

Prior to this weekend’s World Cup, Murase claimed bronze in Women’s Snowboard Big Air at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. At age 13, she made history at X Games Norway 2018 as the first girl to land a 1260 double cork in competition and became the youngest Winter X Games athlete ever to win a gold medal.
