Top International Undrafted NBA Players

The top 3 international undrafted players playing in the NBA today

Typically, teams in the league would use the Summer League to evaluate drafted or undrafted talent to make roster decisions. With the pandemic, the franchises were not given that opportunity.

Even with the chances to watch those games, some teams strike out on undrafted prospects and allow other teams to swoop in and make a deal. That’s why you never seed betting sites, like BetMGM Indiana, set odds on undrafted players signing with teams. There have been some pretty solid undrafted international prospects in today’s league that have come to the NBA and made a difference in the league. These are currently the top three.

Tacko Fall-Boston Celtics (Honorable-Mention)

Fall enjoyed a four-year college career at the University of Central Florida; however, he didn’t move to the United States from Senegal until he was 16 years old. The 7-foot-6 big man is a recent member of the All-Defensive Team for the G-League after being undrafted in 2019. Fall has only played seven games in his NBA career, but he is still learning.

Joe Ingles – Utah Jazz

When it comes to international awards, the Australian has racked up quite a few. He is a former EuroLeague champion (2014), Israeli League champion (2014), two-time Spanish League champion (2011, 2012), and Catalan League champion (2012). In 2009, he started his trophy case by winning the NBL with the South Dragons.

Today, Ingles is a key contributor for the Utah Jazz, the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. Ingles is shooting over 44% from the three-point range and averaging 11.7 points per game. After playing five games with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014, he was shipped to the Jazz, where he has spent his entire career up to now.

Maxi Kleber-Dallas Mavericks

Kleber entered the 2014 NBA draft after spending three seasons playing professional ball in Germany. He went undrafted and then spent the next three seasons playing for German and Spanish Clubs. In 2015 and 2017, he was a German League All-Star, which led to him joining the Dallas Mavericks in 2017.

Kleber’s breakout season came last year, where he averaged 9.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and shot 37.3% from the three-point range. He has gone back and forth starting for the Mavericks this season. This year, he is spotting an impressive 47.5% clip from the three-point range.

Chris Boucher-Toronto Raptors

Boucher hails from Canada and is having a breakout campaign with the Raptors. Boucher has spent the last three seasons with the Raptors after starting his career with the Golden State Warriors in 2017. Currently, he is averaging 13.2 points per game and 6.8 rebounds.

He was a member of the Warriors championship team in 2018 and then won a title as a reserve in 2019 with the Raptors. In 2019, he was the G-League MVP. In what has been an early career, he has accomplished more than some veterans have ever achieved.

LA Lakers Dominate NBA’s Social Media Rankings

LA Lakers Lead Social Media Rankings In NBA As Of March 2021 – Over 30M Followers

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most iconic American sports franchises in history. Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant are just some of the legendary names to have worn the famed purple and gold, making the Lakers one of, if not the most popular team in the NBA. According to data presented by Safe Betting Sites, as of March 2021, the Los Angeles Lakers lead the NBA’s Social Media rankings with the most followers on Facebook and Twitter.

Los Angeles Lakers Most Followed NBA Team On Social Media – Over 30M Followers

The Los Angeles Lakers are not only one of the most popular American sports franchises, but also one of the most successful. The Lakers have won the NBA world championship a record-tying 17 times since the NBA began. Ther most recent championship came from the improvised 2019-2020 season when they were led to victory over the Miami Heat by superstar Lebron James.

The Lakers’ sustained success over decades of basketball seasons has earned the team one of the most passionate fanbases, not only in the U.S., but also globally. This large fanbase is evident in the Lakers’ over 30M combined followers on Facebook and Twitter, making them the most followed NBA team on social media

The NBA and Social Media

The NBA is one of the most popular sports leagues in the world, and basketball has become a global game because of the league’s international reach. The league is also at the forefront when it comes to fan engagement and outreach, constantly seeking to expand the game beyond American shores.

In recent times, the NBA has also shown a willingness to innovate and adapt to current trends. When social media started to permeate the mainstream, the NBA was one of the first to embrace it and eventually harness its capabilities. As of March 2021, The NBA’s Facebook and Twitter Profiles had an estimated 72M followers combined. Notably, in 2020, the NBA brand was the third leading brand on Instagram based on user engagement in the US.

Bulls, Heat, Rockets, Warriors – 4 Next Most Followed Teams

The Chicago Bulls are the second most followed team on social media with 21.44M combined followers while their Eastern Conference Rivals, Miami Heat, was the next most followed team with 19.65M combined followers. The Houston Rockets, arguably the most popular NBA team in China, is the fourth most followed team with 18.52M followers. Former 2-time league MVP Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors round out the top 5 with 18.18M followers.

Sportsbooks favor LeBron and the Lakers to go back-to-back

The Los Angeles Lakers ended their decade-long wait for a 17th NBA Championship in October and with LeBron James and Anthony Davis set for another year in LA, they are favorites with the bookmakers to win another title in 2021.

Frank Vogel’s team is priced at +350 to surpass the record of 17 chips which they share with the Boston Celtics. The Celtics fell to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals this year, but could certainly go one better next time around.

Boston is +1400 with Bet365 to win their 18th championship which, considering there are some +800 numbers out there, might be considered very generous odds.

But as far as the biggest challenger to the Lakers is concerned, they can look a bit closer to home at the Los Angeles Clippers. It remains to be seen what happens to their roster with Ty Lue taking over the reins as coach, but Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are expected to stay put.

The Clippers, who at various points during last season were favorites for the title, are +550 to make up for what was ultimately a disappointing 2019-20 campaign.

Fans of the Milwaukee Bucks were also underwhelmed with how things panned out despite another MVP season for Giannis Antetokounmpo. A 4-1 series defeat by Miami in the Conference Semifinals was not in the script, and with one year left on the Greek Freak’s contract, the Bucks are a best price of +650 to triumph 50 years on from their one and only championship win.

Injuries to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, coupled with the departure of Kevin Durant, meant that the Golden State Warriors took a year off from title contention but they are +800 to come back firing next season with what would be their fourth chip under coach Steve Kerr.

Golden State has the second overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, and whether they grab a highly-rated rookie or trade it away in a win-now move, they are a force to be reckoned with in 2020-21.

Another team many anticipate great things from is the Brooklyn Nets, who the sportsbooks seem to be having a tough time pricing up. Some betting sites have them at +600, but others have gone as big as +1200 which is surely too big for a roster that boasts two former NBA All-Star Game MVPs in the shape of Durant and Kyrie Irving.

The Nets were swept by the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the playoffs last time out, but the plan was always for 2020-21 to be the year in which they make a proper run at it.

Not many predicted that Miami would make it all the way to the finals and come close to denying their former star, James, but a heroic team effort led by Jimmy Butler saw them completely surpass expectations. Repeating that is a tall order, but +1600 is a more than fair price.

At +2000 is the Toronto Raptors, while the Denver Nuggets can be snapped up at +2500 and the Dallas Mavericks are +2800 if you shop around. Each of those teams has plenty of potential and star power – it’s just a case of putting it all together.

It’s surprising to see the Houston Rockets as big as +3000, and likewise the Philadelphia 76ers at +4000, but in such a competitive league, they are perhaps a bit off the pace.

The campaign will begin in late December at the earliest, and the regular season may be shortened so that the normal October-June timeframe can be in-play for 2021-22.

LaMelo Ball Joins PUMA

By Justin Lyons

LaMelo Ball, top 2020 NBA Draft prospect and younger brother of New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball, signed with the sports company PUMA for a long-term sponsorship deal.

Ball said he’s excited to join the PUMA family as he kicks off his basketball career.

“I believe the brand is the perfect partner for me because PUMA will allow me to just be myself. I want to be 100-percent authentic whether that’s playing basketball or showing off my personal style, and that’s what I want to do with PUMA,” Ball said.

The 6-foot-7-inch guard with elite passing skills opted out of college basketball in favor of professional contracts in Lithuania and Australia.

Adam Petrick, the global director of brand and marketing at PUMA, said Ball is a natural fit for PUMA because of his personal style and his “physical gifts and dynamic play on the court.”

“We are thrilled to add him to our roster of talented athletes, and at just 19 years old, we can’t wait to see his impact on the broader culture surrounding basketball,” Petrick said.

The first collaboration between the young phenom and PUMA will come in the form of a PUMA x LaMelo Ball T-shirt and hoodie set. The set will release Nov. 18, the same day as the 2020 NBA Draft where Ball is expected to go in the top five.

PUMA also intends to blur lines between sports, culture, music and fashion with its approach to the collaboration with Ball, which will likely be seen in the form of shirts, shoes and other apparel.

The partnership will follow PUMA’s “Not From Here” concept, something Ball cooked up himself to represent his unique attitude.

“I don’t know what normal is. I personally chose a different path to achieve my success because that defines who I am,” Ball said. “I know some people think I am mysterious or ‘not from here,’ and I might have to agree. I am someone who likes to be different and consider myself to be one of one. That’s the message I want to share in my upcoming projects with PUMA.”

Ball and PUMA will also join forces to host basketball camps, clothing donations, court refurbishments and more to support programs that encourage young athletes stay active.

With names like RJ Barrett, Kyle Kuzma and Deandre Ayton highlighting the list, Ball is the latest in a line of young talent to join PUMA.

In Ball’s 2019-2020 season as a member of the Illawarra Hawks, he played just 12 games before injuring himself during practice and deciding to leave for the NBA Draft. He averaged 17 points, 6.8 assists and 7.6 rebounds per game.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft after winning the NBA Draft Lottery. The Timberwolves had a 14% chance at landing the first pick, tied for the best odds with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, the team holding the worst record in the league.

With the Timberwolves trading for star guard D’Angelo Russell last season, mock drafts appear to have Minnesota targeting Anthony Edwards, the wing player out of Georgia.

Without a consensus first pick, there is also speculation that Minnesota could trade out of the first pick, opening an opportunity for a team looking for a point guard with passing abilities like Ball’s.

It all remains to be seen the night of the Draft Nov. 18, where one thing is for sure: LaMelo Ball’s name will be called.

adidas Originals reinvigorates an iconic silhouette that pays homage to an era of basketball legends

• Rivalry comes back in its iconic colors, influenced by the passion of New York basketball fans

In attendance at the exhibition launch were a roster of New York athletes: Kristaps Porzingis (New York Knicks), Allonzo Trier (New York Knicks), Allen Crabb (Brooklyn Nets), Charone Peake (New York Jets) and Cody Latimer (New York Giants)

Following a long-standing lineage of basketball silhouettes over the past several decades, adidas Originals continues to honor the sport’s heritage with the special re-issue of Rivalry in New York City last night. Revitalizing a peak era of New York basketball, which spearheaded a communal spirit of fierce pride, the cult classic is for lovers of basketball style on and off the courts. Returning in all its glory, adidas Originals teamed up with notable sportswear designer Eric Emanuel to debut the latest Rivalry model, inspired by New York’s undying passion and love for sports.

The shoe was celebrated through a pop-up gallery exhibition curated by Emanuel, showcasing the indisputable influence of basketball style into the realms of fashion, art, photography and more. In true Big Apple style, Rivalry wheat paste posters drenched the exhibition entrance, surrounded by a canopy of scaffolding and sneakers hung from wires. Guests then walked through an exclusive showcase of collaborator works that included photography, installations, and a product showcase. On view was the latest iteration of the Rivalry Hi-Top, accompanied by both an archival silhouette from 1986 and a preview of what’s to come from the three stripes brand and Emanuel later in the year.

Staying true and honoring its predecessors, the latest Rivalry iteration will feature premium leathers that nod to the famous “Team Series” from the late 80s. The model stands out in a bold blue and orange colorway with adidas branding emblazoned on the tongue.

Today, adidas Originals will open the gallery up to the men’s and women’s basketball team from local New York school, High School of Fashion Industries, as well as the general public from 12:00 pm through until 5:00 pm. The surrounding streets of the exhibit will also play host to adidas street scalpers handing out admission tickets to the pop-up where guests have the chance to grab a limited edition Rivalry-inspired t-shirt designed by Eric Emanuel.

The Rivalry High OG will be available at select adidas retailers on Friday, February 8th and will retail for $110 USD.
