R&B/Hip-Hop powerhouse and burgeoning entrepreneur Blxst continues impacting the culture in profound and innovative ways. Today, the LA-native announces a partnership with Chicago-based Streetwear Boutique Jugrnaut, label partners Red Bull Records, and his Evgle LLC imprint for a clothing collection. 
 
The Blxst/Evgle LLC x Jugrnaut x Red Bull Records My City to Chi City collaboration will include an athletic wear-inspired 4-piece clothing capsule. The line will debut at a 3-day pop-up during Lollapalooza at Jugrnaut’s flagship store, just 5 minutes down the road from the festival. Blxst will launch the pop-up and clothing capsule on Friday, July 29th with an in-store meet-and-greet.
 
In addition to the Jugrnaut collab, Blxst also tapped celebrity jacket designer Jeff Hamilton (Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant) for a one-of-a-kind jacket to commemorate the release of his latest project Before You Go.  The clothing capsule will also include a limited drop of a consumer-facing leather and wool jacket resembling Blxst’s for fans and collectors. The jacket bundle will include a branded garment bag and a collectible design sketch drawn by Jeff Hamilton.
 
Fans not attending Lollapalooza will be able to get in on the action and purchase the My City to Chi City clothing capsule via a 3D immersive microsite. The microsite will host an interactive e-commerce experience of the clothing capsule, a short film about the collaboration between Jugrnaut and Blxst, an official Apple Maps Guide listing must-see Chicago locations curated by Jugrnaut, Red Bull Records, and Blxst, and more – also available to view HERE.

JEFF HAMILTON:
Jeff Hamilton began his career as a fashion designer in Paris France. When he arrived in the US he forced his way into the top fashion circles making a name for himself as the creative genius behind Guess? for Men. After leaving Guess? MADAME TUSSAUDS HOLLYWOOD WAX MUSEUM

When you walk through Hollywood, you can find 2,690 stars along the sidewalk calling out famous and celebrated singers, songwriters, actors, directors, and anyone who has had a lasting impact on Hollywood. You can also escape the heat and bustle of the city by exploring Madame Tussauds where you are treated to life-size replicas of all your favorite Hollywood Superstars.

Madame Tussauds Hollywood features three floors filled with wax replicas of singers, late night hosts, actors and actresses, and even famous characters from movies like Boris Karloff as The Mummy. You are first greeted with a wax figure of Baywatch Zac Efron in front of the Santa Monica Skyline, a massive King Kong next to the Empire State building, and a game face ready Kobe Bryant. After you purchase your tickets, you are welcomed into the museum and given free rein to tour and visit all three floors. Following COVID-19 guidelines, guests are to start from the third floor and make our way down for one-way traffic to flow better. The first-floor features Hollywood’s newest members and current pop culture icons: Demi Lovato, Jason Derulo, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Jenner, Morgan Freeman, Simon Cowell and more. And not forgetting to mention, the brand-new Ariana Grande wax figure dressed in her Rule The World music video outfit. The figurine is also posed in a pink-themed set from her famous 7 Rings video with a pyramid of champagne glasses behind her. This is a new piece for the museum and not yet updated in all of Madame Tussauds locations, so it is definitely not to be missed!

On the second floor, you pass Meryl Streep, Obama, and Jim Carrey; the second floor also features all of old Hollywood’s stars: Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, John Wayne, esteemed directors: Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino, and even actors portraying characters from popular films of that era: Hannibal Lector (Anthony Hopkins) locked in his cell, Danny (John Travolta) next to his red-hot rod, and Edward Scissorhands (Johnny Depp). After you tour through Old Hollywood, you arrive at the last floor featuring all your favorite stars from the 90’s: Britney Spears, Tupac, Snoop Dog, Michael Jackson, Shakira, Beyoncé, Madonna, and so on. This section features the ultimate 90’s bedroom and would transport you back in time.

After your trip down memory lane, you will arrive the last feature in the museum, a Marvel theme wax exhibition, where you can check out a few Marvel cast members figures in full costume: Spiderman, Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), etc. Though it is not compulsory, you can also purchase the 4D Marvel Movie screening for an additional $5 for an immersive experience. The glasses the museum provides will allow you to see the 3D aspect of the film, and be prepared for sound effects, water, bubbles and even ropes to hit your feet. All of these elements make for an out of this world experience, the movie is 10 minutes long. Make sure to put any items you don’t want getting wet away! If you are not a fan of getting wet, I recommend sitting father back. Stop by the gift shop on your way out and grab a cup, key chain, or shirt to remember your visit to Madame Tussauds Hollywood.

In addition to offering a fun and safe day out of the house, you are also able to learn about the process of making a wax figure, see examples of the process, and in pre-Covid times purchase your own wax mold of your hand. It takes about 800 hours to create a wax figure, beginning with the detailed measurement of the model from the circumference of your head to the width of your ankle. Every measurement is specific to ensure the wax figure looks as accurate as possible. After the measurements are taken, workers begin sculpting, painting, designing, making the costumes and finally dressing and staging the wax figures. This is no easy task and while some figures are more life-like and realistic than others, they are all impressive. It really makes you question who in the room was real and who was a wax figure! The detail in every figure is astonishing, from freckles, scars, tattoos, and hair. It feels as if you are really meeting and interacting with these stars rather than standing next to a wax figure.

Toyota Corolla Apex

TMNA is releasing a new and updated version of the faithful Toyota Corolla in 2021: the limited edition Corolla Apex Edition. The company will manufacture only 6,000 editions of the SE and XSE editions.

As a bonus, Puma and Toyota collaborated on a limited edition Corolla Apex sneaker that corresponds with the car’s launch. Only 50 units were fabricated – we got number 25! They perfectly match the vehicle and they came just in time as we celebrated the Los Angeles Lakers Championship win, honking and flickering our lights in Downtown LA near the Staples Center. Just like LeBron during the NBA playoffs, this compact car was the star attraction. After all, it is one of the top selling cars in the world.

Model

This new model has the same horsepower as its predecessor, same TNGA-C platform, but is nearly unrecognizable in its new form.

Most of the editions will be equipped with the Dynamic Shift CVT, otherwise known as a continuously variable transmission, and colloquially known as an automatic. For those who love driving stick, Toyota is also offering just 120 models based on the SE edition that are equipped with a 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission.

Style

This car leans into sportiness that has never been characteristic of a Corolla, yet does so gracefully. The new model rides lower to the ground, flaunts bronze accents, a front spoiler, fog light covers, side moldings, a rear diffuser aid in high-speed vehicle stability, and an optional rear trunk aero spoiler for those who wish it theirs.

Chrome exhaust tips accent the vehicle and black mirror caps give it an edge. Low profile, black, 18-inch wheels that are lighter than Corolla’s standard and unique to the Apex, according to Anthony Alaniz of Motor1, add to its humble discretion. LED headlights, turn signals, and taillights make sure you are safe, while the smoked-out light lenses of the taillights add to its undeniable dominance, and a large sunroof is an added bonus, especially on lazy summer nights.

The SE model is attired in premium fabric upholstery, while the XSE edition sports black SofTex®-trimmed fabric upholstery, heated front seats, and an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support.

Power

This Corolla is powered by its 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Toyota Corolla engine, which obtains its power from high-compression Toyota D4-S fuel injection system (13:1), according to Toyota’s press release. The VVT-i on the exhausts uses an electric motor instead of oil, making for a more eco-friendly and efficient exhaust.

The limited edition model has a 169 peak horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 151 lb.-ft. peak torque at 4,800 rpm, which is standard in previous Toyota models.

With the automatic transmission in the SE model, the EPA-estimated fuel economy is 31 city / 41 highway / 34 combined MPG, and the XSE’s is 31/38/34, respectively. With the manual transmission, the fuel economy is 29/36/32 MPG.

Safety

Toyota also took the model one step further in safety. The Apex Edition, along with all 2021 Corolla models, will have Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite of driver-assist technologies, standard. This includes a pre-collision system with daytime/low-light vehicle and pedestrian detection, plus daytime bicycle detection, full-speed range dynamic cruise control (CVT only), lane departure alert with steering assist and road edge detection, automatic high beams, lane tracing and road sign assist.

In addition, rear side airbags were added to the design, bringing the total number of airbags in the vehicle up to 10. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert with a Blind Spot Monitor is now standard on XSE models, and optional for SE models with CVT. In addition, all 2020 Corollas gain an Automatic Engine Shut-Off. This add-on will automatically turn off the engine after a designated period in the event it is left running.

As a special value, Toyota’s press release notes that, “the 2021 Corolla LE grade (gas model) will offer a new Convenience Package that combines Blind Spot Monitor, Smart Key system and 16-inch alloy wheels.”

Technology

The new Corolla Apex Edition sports new Android Auto compatibility, which complements the Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa potential connections already standard in this model’s predecessor, the 2020 Corolla. In addition, SiriusXM and its 3-month trial period is now available across every Corolla model.

Furthermore, the vehicle is endowed with a more efficient cooling system; the two-discharge-port oil pump and variable cooling system with an electric water pump maximizes engine engine performance and efficiency. This ensures quicker cabin heating on cold days and quicker cool-down when the A/C is on. When combined with ultra-low internal friction, the 2.0-liter engine operates at a maximum thermal efficiency of 40 percent, which is among the highest for a current passenger vehicle, according to Toyota.

Pricing

The least expensive edition of the Corolla Apex, the Corolla Apex SE with a CVT, is $2,695 more than its predecessor, which brings it to $25,070. The Corolla Apex SE with a six-speed manual transmission clocks in at $25,460, and the Corolla Apex XSE at $28,210.

Conclusion

Ultimately, the new model’s suspension and fresh look are most noteworthy. New coil springs with internal rebound shocks allowed designers to lower the suspension 0.6 inches. This, combined with rigid, stabilizer bars, creates a stiffer suspension. Roll stiffness is now 47% more stiff in the front and 33% more in the rear—a marked improvement. And, its look undeniably transforms any preconceived notions about the Toyota Corolla, as it seems to have evolved into a chic sports car.

adidas Originals reinvigorates an iconic silhouette that pays homage to an era of basketball legends

• The style is honored with a pop-up exhibition curated by Eric Emanuel, featuring works by New York City creatives Brock Fetch, Tyrrell Winston, and New York Sunshine. In attendance at the exhibition launch were a roster of New York athletes: Kristaps Porzingis (New York Knicks), Allonzo Trier (New York Knicks), Allen Crabb (Brooklyn Nets), Charone Peake (New York Jets) and Cody Latimer (New York Giants)

Following a long-standing lineage of basketball silhouettes over the past several decades, adidas Originals continues to honor the sport’s heritage with the special re-issue of Rivalry in New York City last night. Revitalizing a peak era of New York basketball, which spearheaded a communal spirit of fierce pride, the cult classic is for lovers of basketball style on and off the courts. Returning in all its glory, adidas Originals teamed up with notable sportswear designer Eric Emanuel to debut the latest Rivalry model, inspired by New York’s undying passion and love for sports.

The shoe was celebrated through a pop-up gallery exhibition curated by Emanuel, showcasing the indisputable influence of basketball style into the realms of fashion, art, photography and more. The blank space was transformed into an interactive gallery covered in gritty, city-inspired installations that bought the shoe to life through the works of photographer Brock Fetch, mixed media artist, Tyrrell Winston and creative collective, NY Sunshine.

In true Big Apple style, Rivalry wheat paste posters drenched the exhibition entrance, surrounded by a canopy of scaffolding and sneakers hung from wires. Guests then walked through an exclusive showcase of collaborator works that included photography, installations, and a product showcase. On view was the latest iteration of the Rivalry Hi-Top, accompanied by both an archival silhouette from 1986 and a preview of what’s to come from the three stripes brand and Emanuel later in the year.

Staying true and honoring its predecessors, the latest Rivalry iteration will feature premium leathers that nod to the famous “Team Series” from the late 80s. The model stands out in a bold blue and orange colorway with adidas branding emblazoned on the tongue.

Today, adidas Originals will open the gallery up to the men’s and women’s basketball team from local New York school, High School of Fashion Industries, as well as the general public from 12:00 pm through until 5:00 pm. The surrounding streets of the exhibit will also play host to adidas street scalpers handing out admission tickets to the pop-up where guests have the chance to grab a limited edition Rivalry-inspired t-shirt designed by Eric Emanuel.

The Rivalry High OG will be available at select adidas retailers on Friday, February 8th and will retail for $110 USD.

• 1oz. Perfect Puree Prickly Pear
• ½ oz. Agave nectar
• 2 lemon wedges
• Top with ginger beer
• Chipotle powder
Garnish with mint & chipotle powder. Serve in a cooper mug.

• ½ oz. Mezcal
• ½ oz. Aperol
• ½ oz. Agave nectar
• ¾ oz. lime juice

The Tigers square off today against The Sheep for the Championship in one of the most anticipated matchups of the basketball season. Fans can watch the big game online now HERE.

Coaches Molly Shannon (Tigers) and Terry Crews (Sheep) promise this will be a must-see game for basketball fans around the world. Given the stellar season the Sheep have had, some commentators have predicted that this David vs. Goliath competition will be “the hottest mess in history.” However, Katy ‘Kobe’ Perry, Team Captain for the Tigers, remains optimistic, anticipating an epic game where anything can happen. Hafþór Júlíus ‘Thor’ Björnsson, Team Captain for the Sheep, concurred.

Announcers Bill Walton and Rich Eisen will be on hand to deliver the play-by-play. Fans won’t miss a move thanks to Dave Meyers and his production crew, who will be courtside, capturing all the action. The game marks the GRAMMY® Award-winning video director’s first foray into sports broadcasting.
