Meghan McCain Speaks Against Antisemitism

Top Individuals Positively Influencing Jewish Life include Attorney General of New York Letita James, Comedian Bill Maher, Selma Blair, Noa Tishby

“I cannot stay silent when I see or hear antisemitism,” said actress Debra Messing on receiving the Algemeiner newspaper’s ‘Warrior For Truth’ award. “During Will and Grace it was important to me that Grace’s Jewishness be central to her identity because representation matters. I know that speaking up is a value shared by all of us here.” TV personality Meghan McCain followed Messing in the award ceremony, passionately declaring, “Antisemitism is abhorrent and innately un-American. We are Americans. What do Americans do when we meet up with the fanatical movement bent upon the eradication of Jews? We fight them. We’re going to fight these people too,” said McCain, “there is no place in America for antisemitism.”

The Ambassador of Israel to the U.S. and U.N. Gilad Erdan, philanthropist Nina Rennert Davidson, and Algemeiner Editor in Chief and CEO Dovid Efune, with his wife Mushka Efune were also honored at the Algemeiner newspaper’s 8th annual J100 Gala at the Rockleigh Country Club on October 12, 2021.

Joseph Borgen, the victim of a vicious antisemitic attack earlier this year in Manhattan and who McCain invited onto ABC’s The View, was a guest speaker.   It was an emotional moment at the J100 gala when McCain and Borgen met in person for the first time. “The only publication that continues to act as a voice for me and bring attention to my situation is The Algemeiner,” said Borgen, “They bring light to the issue and hold people accountable for what took place. They make sure that antisemitism is not washed away or forgotten.”

Ambassador Erdan, introduced by Malcolm Hoenlein, reinforced this position, saying, “The biggest threat facing Israel and the Jewish people today is the deadly combination of lies and disinformation. Disinformation may begin as words but violence is only one small step away.”

Dovid Efune and Chairman Simon Jacobson shared the importance of the evening, “After the events of the past year,” said Efune, “when we witnessed again 1,000 strands of falsehood weaved together into a thick rope of hate, that a line has been firmly drawn under our long-held conviction that lies can kill and that the truth saves lives. It is often the case that stories first reported by The Algemeiner would simply not see the light of day, that the historical record would remain uncorrected, without the diligent skills of our team. The voice of the Algemeiner is indispensable.”

Nina Rennert Davidson implored the live crowd to join her and the other honorees in their fight, “Please speak up at board meetings and parties. Please do not allow your schools to have speakers, teachers and curriculums that attack Israel. If we do not respect our heritage, how can we ask anybody else to?”

TV journalist Dana Arschin served as Master of Ceremonies. The Event Chairs were Neil and Sharon Book, with Bernard-Henri Levy as Honorary Chairman.

The J100 Gala celebrated the release of the Algemeiner’s highly anticipated J100 List. The Algemeiner newspaper releases an annual list of 100 significant individuals who positively influence Jewish life, called the J100 List. On the importance and relevance of the J100, Efune said, “This year we’ve placed particular emphasis on those standing at the forefront of the battle for truth.”

The 2021 list includes Attorney General of New York Letita James, comedian Bill Maher, actresses Noa Tishby and Selma Blair, actor Jonathan Lipnicki, celebrity chef Jake Cohen, Morton Williams Supermarket owner Avi Kaner, publising mogul Mathias Doepfner, Papaya Global CEO Eynat Guez, and MLB athlete Jacob Steinmetz.

ABOUT THE ALGEMEINER

Now celebrating its 49th anniversary, The Algemeiner newspaper has been labeled the “fastest growing Jewish newspaper in the US” by CNBC. It has been described by former Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor as “the voice of the Jewish people and Israel” and hailed as “brave and relentlessly accurate” by longtime New Republic editor Marty Peretz.

Amy Shark – All the Lies About Me × other announcements

Multi ARIA award-winning singer-songwriter Amy Shark announced that her sophomore album CRY FOREVER will be released on April 30th 2021 and is available to pre-order now via Wonderlick Recording Company/Sony Music Entertainment Australia/RCA Records. Shark also released a new track “All The Lies About Me” which will be featured on CRY FOREVER and is available now HERE. Additionally, Shark has  announced a massive headline tour of Australia in June/July 2021 in support of CRY FOREVER.

Shark’s national CRY FOREVER tour will be the Gold Coast local’s most ambitious live undertaking yet in some of the largest venues Australia has to offer. The tour will kick off at Qudos Bank Arena (Sydney) on June 12, before moving through to Rod Laver Arena (Melbourne) on June 18, Wrest Point Lawns (Hobart) June 19, HOTA (Gold Coast) June 25, Riverstage (Brisbane) June 26, Adelaide Entertainment Centre July 1 and will finish up in Perth at RAC Arena on July 3. Tickets go on sale Friday 11 December at 10am local time and are available from www.amyshark.com

Amy Shark sold in excess of 45,000 tickets in 2019 across her metro and regional tours, with her regional tour last week picking up the ARIA for ‘Best Australian Live Act’, paired with her ARIA win for ‘Best Pop Release’ for ‘Everybody Rise’. The CRY FOREVER tour will see Shark level up, rolling out world class production and musicianship as she brings her anticipated new album to life in arenas across Australia.

No stranger to the big stage, Amy Shark has headlined many major festivals, along with winning over the entire stadium at Fire Fight and wowing a huge national audience with her recent NRL Grand Final appearance. Guaranteed to delight fans across Australia, this career defining must-see tour promises to feature stand out performances of songs from the critically acclaimed LOVE MONSTER album, fan faves from the NIGHT THINKER EP and of course brand new music from CRY FOREVER including ARIA winning, platinum accredited ‘Everybody Rise’ which is nearing 20 million streams globally and spent 12 weeks in the top 10 Australian airplay chart.

I am so proud of this album and it’s time to hand these songs over to the fans,” says Shark. “To announce a tour of this size, after the year we have been through, gives me hope that the world is heading back to normality. I will give every show every part of me, this is going to be massive and I am counting down the days to perform.”

CRY FOREVER is the follow up to Amy Shark’s 2018 #1 ARIA Album Of The Year, LOVE MONSTER . Written and recorded between the US, UK, New Zealand and Shark’s home studio on the Gold Coast, her exceptional songwriting is on full display here, co-producing with A-List producers: Dann Hume (ARIA 2018 & 2019 Producer Of The year), M-Phazes (Ruel, Eminem), Joel Little (Lorde, Taylor Swift), Jamie Hartman (Lewis Capaldi, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man), Dan Wilson (Adele, Leon Bridges) and Sammy Witte (Harry Styles, King Princess). CRY FOREVER will also see Shark team up with Grammy award winning artist Keith Urban following on from her latest collaboration with Blink 182’s Travis Barker on new single, ‘C’MON.’

Through Shark’s honest and emotional storytelling, CRY FOREVER is set to be an evolution from her debut album LOVE MONSTER, “I am now a more confident musician and person than the Amy of 2018, and I feel like I am ready to share some moments from my life that I wasn’t previously ok to talk about, ” says Shark, “These are some of the most personal and confronting songs I’ve ever written, and I can’t wait to share them with everyone.” And to celebrate the album and tour announcement, Shark has dropped a new track, ‘All The Lies About Me’, featuring her trademark soaring vocals, powerful lyrics and acoustic guitar. “This song is me at my most confused, broken and lonely. It’s not easy hearing things about yourself that simply aren’t true. Sometimes the noise gets too loud so I had to write this song as it’s the only way I can talk.”

Amy Shark has come a long way since her breakthrough single Adore.  As shared on her Instagram account – in just a few years she has gone from moving 82 tickets in her home state of Queensland, to selling out arena-sized venues all across the country. After bursting on to the global music scene in 2016, her 5 x Platinum single ‘Adore’ put her on the map as one of Australia’s most formidable emerging songwriters. This was followed by 4 x Platinum and number one Australian Airplay Chart hit, ‘I Said Hi’ and the 2019 2 x platinum single ‘Mess Her Up’. Shark’s debut/breakthrough #1 ARIA album and Platinum-certified LOVE MONSTER was recognised in 2018 with four ARIA awards (Album of the Year, Best Female Artist, Best Pop Release, Best Producer [Dann Hume]) and was nominated for another five. LOVE MONSTER went on to become the highest selling album by an Australian artist for 2018.

Undoubtedly, 2021 is poised to be an even bigger year for Amy Shark with the release of her sophomore record and national CRY FOREVER tour.

The CRY FOREVER tour will be held with a commitment to a COVID Safe environment.  TEG LIVE will work closely with and comply with all requirements of the public health authorities in respect of these shows.

SEVANA UNVEILS “BLESSED” VIDEO FROM HER LATEST EP BE SOMEBODY

SEVANA UNVEILS “BLESSED” VIDEO FROM HER LATEST EP “BE SOMEBODY”

“The rising Jamaican star definitely has the range…manages to make the song’s already blissful hook sound even sweeter.”

NYLON

“Sevana has the octaves and pipes that give singers like Beyoncé their stripes.”

ESSENCE

“…poised for greatness…effortless, airy and buttery, it [Sevana’s voice] floats above dreamy melodies…forming a blend that feels timeless and yet profoundly modern.”

POPDUST

Sevana released her latest video for “Blessed.” The Jamaican singer gives reverence to a higher power on this Yoram Savion directed visual shot in the rustic terrain of Soda Springs, CA. Sevana towers over the bright horns as her voice overflows. This soul-baring anthem is off her acclaimed EP Be Somebody (out July 31 via In.Digg.Nation Collective / Six Course / RCA Records) and produced by IzyBeats, the hitmaker behind Koffee’s “Toast” and Lila Iké’s “I Spy.” Watch it HERE.

“The visual follows the story of a woman lost in the wilderness. She’s made a home there, but it all comes to a head when a threat finds its way into the home she’s made. Through divine intervention, she escapes. The threat is fear. The woman is me, “ Sevana explains.  It’s the story of my spiritual growth, how I awoke to a relationship with God as my world came crashing down. I  know what it feels like to never be alone again, I am covered, I am at peace. I am Blessed,” she adds.

The “Blessed” visual follows her “Mango” video which has over 2m+ views and is a favorite among the likes of actress Halle Berry and dancehall queen Spice. The latter song is also featured on her 6-track EP Be Somebody.

About Sevana:

Hailing from Jamaica gives any artist a certain legitimacy, but it also brings certain expectations — ones which Sevana lives up to, but also defies. While reflecting the island’s musical sensibilities in some ways,  Sevana’s vocals are strongly influenced by R&B and soul. Be Somebody comes after Sevana’s self-titled EP (2016), her 2018 breakthrough song “Sometime Love” and 2019’s singles “Nobody Man” and “Haul & Pull” off the Protoje and J Vibe produced Rock & Groove Riddim. In 2019, Sevana landed festival performances at Boomtown (UK), Reggae Geel (Germany) and Rototom Sunsplash (Spain), Sole DXB (Dubai) and joined Protoje on some of his major shows, including BRIC’s Celebrate Brooklyn! NYC concert and Jamaica’s largest annual music festival Reggae Sumfest. Sevana has earned notoriety by The FADER, ESSENCE, NYLON, COMPLEX, ASOS, VICE/Noisey, BBC (1Xtra), LargeUp and graced the cover of RIDDIM Magazine’s SPRING 2019 issue. Her naturally radiant look has made her a favorite of photographers and fashion labels. Most recently, she was included in PUMA Middle East’s 2020 campaign along with labelmate Lila Iké.

YOTELPAD × Park City

The first-ever YOTELPAD today announced it will open Dec. 17, 2020 in Park City, Utah. Having expanded its affordable luxury brand to the YOTELPAD experience, London-based hotel group, YOTEL has deliberately established its first YOTELPAD in a market that attracts today’s adventurous travelers, weekend commuters and traveling workers.

“Park City is the ideal setting for YOTELPAD’s first venue in the world,” said Brandon Tyler, general manager of YOTELPAD Park City. “It exemplifies the contemporary style of a modern hotel with the persona of today’s mountain resort enthusiast, including both winter skiers and year-round outdoors lovers.”

With 144 PADs (YOTEL speak for condominiums), YOTELPAD Park City is located at the base of Park City Mountain in Canyons Village. Equipped with self-service check-in stations, the fully tech-equipped hotel allows guests to access Grab+Go meals and drinks, a 24/7 gym with the latest Technogym equipment, ski valets, a fireside lounge and more.

“This hotel experience infuses modern international designs for indoors, outdoors and spaces in between, such as by the pool, around the fireplace and in the games room,” said Tyler. “Guests can relax in the hot tub, unwind by the pool and soak in Park City’s beautiful valley views from our deck.”

Innovative designs for various-sized PADs include Italian furniture that transforms into multiple uses in the same room space. European-inspired floorplans optimize every inch of the PAD, which can accommodate four to seven guests, to make it the perfect mountain base for adventure seekers.

“Built with creative forethought, these PADs and amenities offer incredible options for guests,” he said. “Intelligently designed PADs allow guests to enjoy the benefits of their stay without added expenses.”

Selling PADS for full ownership, YOTELPAD, which is 85 percent sold, also allows PAD owners to submit their residences into its nightly rental program.

“Owners who want to rent their PADs will instantly be listed in YOTEL’s worldwide network for guests seeking new experiences in an environment with modern design,” said Tyler.

YOTEL’s rapid global expansion is fueled from a well-calibrated combination of contemporary design and sociable amenities in popular locations. The tech-forward brand has built a strong following for its hassle-free solutions, with travelers seeking out hotels in cities and airports from San Francisco to Europe to Singapore.

Operating 17 hotels in eight countries, YOTEL recently opened YOTEL London, YOTEL Glasgow and YOTEL Washington, D.C.

“The YOTEL and YOTELPAD concepts are trending, with 13 more YOTELs under development globally and three YOTELPADs being built in Miami, Geneva and Dubai,” he said.

To provide mountain resort expertise, YOTEL has partnered with Benchmark, a global hospitality leader, to spearhead day-to-day operations of YOTELPAD Park City. Since acquiring Gemstone Hotels & Resorts in 2016, Benchmark has built a strong Park City presence and manages a portfolio of more than 70 unique projects across three continents, including ski properties in Park City, Vail, Lake Tahoe and Jackson Hole.

Known for novel design and amenities in great locations, YOTEL enlisted Replay to create four-season resort destinations where guests can play longer and more often.

A national resort development leader, Replay designs destination resorts so year-round guests can play longer, smarter and more frequently. Leading Park City’s Canyons Village masterplan design, Replay’s visionary team was part of the inspiration behind Whistler Blackcomb, consistently ranked as a top world destination.

Disrupting the world of hospitality through people, technology and design, YOTEL creates extraordinary experiences and a sense of fun and value in sought-after venues around the world.

Vitalik Buterin illustration by Kaelen Felix for 360 magazine

Vitalik Buterin × Ethereum

Vitalik Buterin, the 26-year-old Russian-Canadian and inventor of Ethereum, has amassed both wealth and fame as one of the most influential figures in the world of cryptocurrency.

A blockchain is a series of transactions that is based off of the other. A record of cryptocurrency transactions takes form, made up of code. This allows for decentralized governance and more secure transactions, because a third, intermediary party is not involved in the transaction. The transfer went from point A to point B (with many microscopic jumps in between). Thus, no data mined. This is what the blockchain platform, Ethereum, is made out of.

This disrupts the way we think about the internet, and the idea was coined by a 19-year-old.

Buterin co-founded Bitcoin Magazine in 2011, which he wrote for until 2014. A noted fan of Bitcoin, Buterin set out to improve the cryptocurrency. According to Nathanial Popper of the New York Times, “the most basic aim of Ethereum was to make it possible to program binding agreements into the blockchain—the smart contract concept. Two people, for instance, could program a bet on a sports game directly into the Ethereum blockchain.” Once an official winner is declared, the money would automatically be allocated to the winner.

In 2013, Buterin published a white paper advocating for what was just his idea at the time, the blockchain platform known as Ethereum. Venture capitalist Peter Thirl then granted him a $100,000 fellowship, which allowed him to drop out of the University of Waterloo in Toronto, and devote his time completely to his idea, which is now worth more than $43 billion.

It is obvious that Ethereum and Buterin have a bright future ahead of them—and blockchain technology, even more so.

According to Matthew Braga of Canadian Business, “major financial institutions are already showing interest in blockchains.” If companies were to commit to Ethereum, they would become much more democratic. Executives would no longer call the shots, but rather, pieces of secure, man-made code would behave transparently in accordance with the consumer’s wishes.

And they have. In 2017, Popper reported that approximately 30 companies would form the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance. Key cast members of the 2004 comedy film “Napoleon Dynamite” will be reuniting virtually in a special pre-recorded program available at 5:00 pm PST/8:00 pm EST on December 4 on YouTube. In addition, a select group of special items from some of the cast will be available by raffle to donors contributing $75 or more. Item descriptions are available on The Hunger Project’sevent page: https://thp.org/events/cyber-dynamite-napoleon-dynamite-benefit-reunion/.

ANDERSON .PAAK RECEIVES TWO GRAMMY NOMINATIONS

“…a spirited .Paak runs laps around those who choose to stay mum during these trying times” Billboard

Esteemed singer, songwriter, producer, and three-time Grammy Award Winner Anderson .Paak has been nominated for two Grammys. The nominations are for Best Music Video: “Lockdown” and Best Melodic Rap Performance: “Lockdown”. Both follow his Best R&B Album win for Ventura and Best R&B Performance win for “Come Home” featuring Andre 3000 earlier this year. He won his first Grammy in 2019 for Best Rap Performance for his song, “Bubblin.”

.Paak released his highly regarded single “Lockdown” earlier this year on Juneteenth via Aftermath Entertainment, exclusively distributed by 12Tone Music, LLC. Inspiration for the song came from .Paak’s participation in a Los Angeles Black Lives Matter protest where peaceful protestors were being shot with rubber bullets by the police. A video directed by Dave Meyers featuring Andra Day, Jay Rock, Syd, SiR, Dumbfoundead & Dominic Fike followed in addition to a bundle including the remix with JID, Noname, and Jay Rock. The cast & crew who participated in the “Lockdown” video donated their salaries to Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM), Dream Defenders, and Color of Change.

Reacting to his multiple nominations, .Paak shares “THE PEOPLE ARE RISING!!!!! Special shout out to everyone involved!!! J.LBS, Rae Khalil, Vicky Nguyen, Jeff Gitty, Jhair Lazo, Dave Myers, Syd, SiR, Dumbfoundead, Dominic Fike, Jay Rock, Andra Day, my Full Stop Management, Aftermath Entertainment, 12Tone Music, and .Paak House teams! This song was our offering to the movement and I wouldn’t have been able to write it without the inspiration of the people that are out there fighting every day for equality and justice. I’m honored to be nominated. Thank you to the Recording Academy and everyone who voted. Special shout out to all the nominees!”

.Paak was also featured on this year’s Grammy Award nominated albums from Nas (Kings Disease) and Free Nationals (Free Nationals). He was a co-producer on John Legend’s “One Life” from his album, Bigger Love.

Born Brandon Paak Anderson in Oxnard, California, the three-time Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter, and producer played drums as a teen in his church band and later famously worked at a marijuana farm, all while honing his musical chops pursuing his dreams. His extraordinary talent was evident in his first incarnation as Breezy Lovejoy and it was fully realized in his transformation into Anderson .Paak.
