Vevo × Sam Williams

Vevo, the world’s leading music video network, announces the release of Nashville singer songwriter Sam Williams‘ DSCVR performances of “The World: Alone” and “Glasshouse Children,” off his forthcoming album, Glasshouse Children set to be released August 20 via Mercury Nashville. Vevo DSCVR focuses on the development of emerging artists, through performance content and careful curation. Vevo has a long history of helping emerging artists break through to new and wider audiences. Past alumni of Vevo’s DSCVR series include HARDY, Mitchell Tenpenny and Jade Bird. Vevo is committed to working with artists at an early stage of their career to create unique content that brings their music to life visually and provides exposure to new audiences through the platform.

Sam Williams, the grandson of country pioneer Hank Williams and son of outlaw legend Hank Jr., is the latest in a long line of American originals, but not here for the sake of tradition or legacy. Writing with a singular voice and style, he fuses gut-wrenching honesty and plainspoken poetics with raw vulnerability and deep empathy for a profound and cinematic sound.

Glasshouse Children was introduced to the world with the release of slow-burning single “The World: Alone” following the sudden death of Sam’s sister Katie, leading Sam to discover a deeper purpose in life. “That song was never slated to be a single,” says Williams, “but I knew no other way to honor Katie’s memory. She was front row at my Opry debut and always my biggest cheerleader. I wrote the track a year before her passing, having no idea I would be detailing a tragedy and the loss of a dream, but the music lives and grows, and I understand now that I was destined to do this and have to carry on.” It was released on what would have been Katie’s 28th birthday.

The album’s title track, “Glasshouse Children,” is an orchestral reflection on how past trauma can shape present strength. The haunting tune was co-written with Ronnie Bowman and The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, and highlights Williams tender, plaintive vocals throughout.

Simon Beck × The Sparks Brothers Film

Internationally acclaimed land artist Simon Beck has created a giant drawing of the band Sparks Brothers Ron & Russell Mael – on the beach at Brean, near Burnham on Sea, UK, to celebrate the acclaimed release of the film The Sparks Brothers.

“We’ve seen fan art, Sparks tattoos, Sparks fashion design, Sparks cosplay, etc., etc., but this is absolutely amazing in its scope and ambition. The remoteness of the location and the temporal quality of the beach sand drawings only adds to the sheer stunning head-shaking quality of it all. Yikes. Coming soon to a beach near you.” Ron and Russell Mael, Sparks.

Directed by Edgar Wright (Baby Driver, Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz), The Sparks Brothers explores the career of the hugely influential band who first came to prominence in the UK in 1974 with the hit single “This Town Ain’t Big Enough For Both Of Us” and who have now released 25 genre-defying albums in their extraordinary 50-year career.

A now-familiar sight on the Somerset beach, 62-year-old Taunton-based Simon Beck creates perfect, detailed geometrical designs using a rake and a magnetic compass. The former cartographer created his first design on snow (by running in snow shows) in the Alps in 2004, and his first sand design in 2014. The drawing of Sparks is Simon’s 175 design on the beach at Brean.

Josh A Releases New Album Lonely Vibes

Today, rising singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Josh A releases his much-anticipated new album, LONELY VIBES. Hailed for his malleable hybrid of pop, emo rap, and alternative rock, Josh A has amassed more than 1 billion worldwide combined streams and views, all while still under the mainstream radar and completely independent. LONELY VIBES threads together dexterous rhymes, surges of dynamic rock, and flashes of ethereal electronics into a cohesive story with a deliberate arc meant to mirror his own self-actualization.
“There’s a progression in terms of the message,” Josh explains. “The album starts out really depressed. As it unfolds, I’m building up my confidence. That happened in real life during the making of the record too. I broke through my comfort zone and gained confidence in my artistic ability. It’s a picture of someone who goes through the lowest of lows and slowly bounces back through self-reflection. After you accept yourself and embrace who you are, you become unstoppable.”
LONELY VIBES was heralded earlier this year with the releases of the infectious singles “Painless,” “ANXIOUS (Feat. guccihighwaters),” produced with Southern Beatz, and “Doubt Me,” recorded with co-producer/engineer Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, Motionless In White). PAINLESS (THE REMIXES) was also released earlier this year. The three-track collection includes dynamic new versions reworked by such luminaries as Dutch DJ/producer Arcando, GRAMMY Award-nominated production duo SMLE, and Bordeaux, FR-based producer/DJ Coopex.
“Lonely Vibes encompasses my existence,” Josh says. “I moved out at 18, and I’ve always lived on my own. I thrive on being alone. It’s when I work my hardest. It’s a term I’ve used online, and it’s become a lifestyle. I think a lot of people can relate.
“There are so many vibes and styles on the album that it can pretty much fit anybody’s taste,” he continues. “I’m showing the world everything I’m capable of. There are angrier tracks you can rage to, hype tracks you can go crazy to, and tracks you can really take to heart. As long you get five minutes of peace from the craziness of the world, that’s the main goal for me.”

L’FREAQ Shares Showgirl

Today, LA-based dark-synth pop artist, L’FREAQ, shares battle cry title track, “Showgirl,” from her sophomore EP, Showgirl, due out on September 23, 2021 via Position Music. Furthering the story from the debut single and music video for “Gimmick,” it’s clear that the upcoming EP is absolutely stacked with metaphor, all-star fashion, witchy vibes and an important message about the role media plays with children — especially young women. L’FREAQ is turning trauma into triumph, tapping into her heart and getting out of her head.
From puppet to powerhouse (just like in The “Gimmick” video), L’FREAQ breaks free of the monotony and shreds through the brainwashed stereotypes, as she literally shreds on a guitar. “Gimmick” showed L’FREAQ embodying themes of resiliency in a time of self-doubt, combining heart-pounding beats with passionate lyrics about believing in the power that everyone inherently owns and nobody else can take away. It also emphasizes L’FREAQ’s expansive “robust range (Refinery29),” which is also on full display in her recent live and unplugged version of “Gimmick.” This new track follows in those footsteps and takes it further into a deeper love of music, family and personal freedom.
On the title track, L’FREAQ says:
“My mother on I have been on an incredible journey together. She is my collaborator, photographer, and inspiration. I was about 8 years old when my parents divorced which sent me into a deep spiral of sadness, and shortly after that, she started dating a musician who was an all-around bad character. This made my relationship with music complicated and eventually forced me to rediscover why I love it. The experience of being beholden to him from around age 8-18 was incredibly difficult, but my bond with my mother actually strengthened through this and I wrote this as a battle cry for her “hold your hands up to the sky, feel the freedom as you cry POWER.” This song is a testimony to my relationship with my mother, a dedication to my delicate youth, and a reminder to anyone who needs it to stand in their deservingness and power.”
Having recently performed for Backline’s “Set Break” live stream alongside Alanis Morissette, Tom Morello, Ben Folds, Sara Bareilles and more to raise funds and awareness for mental health services to be distributed to music industry for free, L’FREAQ has been a champion for her community. This song is another chapter of that consistent commitment to rise up and bring people with her.
L’FREAQ, continues to remain an open book of emotions for fans as she lays out her own experience with rejection and struggles with mental health. L’FREAQ belts, “Got the courage to be vulnerable, got the guts to wear the crown, cause I dare to bare it all, I refuse to water down,” as a testament of truthfulness and self-confidence even when it’s hard. Intimacy on this level allows L’FREAQ to push the storyline forward when it comes to believing in dreams as a reality, especially in the face of adversity. NYLON says, “Look at L’FREAQ, draped in jewels and Cleopatra-esque eye makeup; then look a little harder. Behind the artifice, integrity abounds.”
L’FREAQ is all about being inclusive, and she is outspoken when it comes to defending the underdog. As an ally of everyone on the spectrum of gender and sexuality, bullies, racists and sexists are not allowed in L’FREAQ’s kingdom. She also shows her love for those closest to her, by highlighting their work: namely her fashion photographer mom, Kelly Cappelli (as seen in Vogue), who does all the photography and artwork for L’FREAQ.
The new release follows L’FREAQ’s debut EP, Weird Awakenings, which played with themes of self-discovery, as well as her 2021 single “Make Me Move.” Armed with a full book of poetry, L’FREAQ took pieces of her work and composed songs with Mike Irish, who also produced and mixed the EP at Shifted Recording Studios. The EP was mastered by Stuart Hawkes at Metropolis London Music. They took their time in discovering a sound that felt genuine, one that explored all the raw places she had been longing to find. Together, they created a modern amalgamation of L’FREAQ’s dark, thoughtful poetry and her raw musical instincts, which inevitably alchemized into songs that are all at once aggressive, sensual and moving.
Having shared a stage with ABBA, India.Arie and Jakob Dylan, it’s important to note her live performance prowess, even without tour dates on the books (speaking of longing). L’FREAQ played a packed NYC performance debut at SoHo House, and channeled Britney Spears (especially during her ferocious “Toxic” cover”), Nick Cave and Beats Antique vibes. The Deli Magazine later dubbed her “NYC’s Favorite Emerging Artist.” She’s also currently playing Amy Winehouse in Las Vegas show “27”, and has been featured on the news several times for her iconic portrayal of Winehouse, who inspired her to sing in the first place, leaving audiences moved to tears from the experience.
With over 500k streams, 240K plays on YouTube, and songs featured in “Riverdale,” Playboy, Netflix’s “Dating Around,” “Good Trouble,” “FBI,” “The Voice,” “City on a Hill” and more all born from her 5-song debut EP, it’s safe to say this follow-up EP is highly anticipated. Stay tuned for more visual components to follow, along with brand new singles. Showgirl is on the way.
Jenna Kyle image provided by Leigh Greaney and Big Hassle for use by 360 MAGAZINE

Jenna Kyle × Ojos

LA-based indie-pop artist, Jenna Kyle shares the title track, “Ojos,” from her debut EP today, along with a lyric video. This new bop is the second single from the Ojos EP, will arrive on September 3, 2021. The track represents a new era for the Los Angeles-based singer/ songwriter, producer and live electronic artist, who has actively been leaving her mark as one of the 2% of female music producers in the industry. Jenna Kyle supports women’s rights and LGBTQ equality and stands with The Ally Coalition.

On the new single, Kyle says, “Ojos is the first song I wrote and produced myself. It’s surprising how few women are producing music still, but the doors are definitely open and there’s a strong group of us out here doing it! I vacillate between feeling enraged that there are so few women in the profession, while simultaneously feeling proud to help hold the torch for the next generation of female producers coming up, all while battling the imposter syndrome many of us feel when saying “I am a producer, I produced this myself!”

One of the ways Kyle has explored her newfound producer prowess is to integrate a multicultural world aesthetic that is so uniquely her own. Jenna Kyle’s forthcoming EP is influenced by her travels over the past several years and her long time partnership and collaboration with Brazilian / Argentine drummer Bruno Esrubilsky (Mitski, Hedwig and The Angry Inch, The Band Joseph), which contributed to a globally-minded sound and an influx of Spanish and Portuguese lyrics.

She adds, “Over the past few years, pre-Covid, we toured through Southeast Asia, Europe, and visited South America every few months to be with family. I was immersed in the music and rhythms while meeting so many wonderful people. Language barriers can provide a new opportunity to communicate. You don’t need to understand every word I say to know what I mean. Exploring writing lyrics and poems in Spanish, which I’ve studied through college and since I was a kid, and Portuguese, which is a newer language for me, opened up a more creative process; there’s more room for experimentation within the new rhyme schemes. I don’t get as caught up on a word being cliche. Ojos and all my new music feels like an opening of sound and mind as a direct result of the freedom from self-imposed language constraints, and deepening my skills as a producer.”

The track caught the attention of DJ/producer Sinego, who created a dark, organic house mix of “Ojos,” called La Noche Mix which will be released July 28. This collaboration highlights Kyle’s love of production and connection and takes the track to new places.

The debut single from the EP, “Tell Me,” is also streaming everywhere now along with a new video. “Tell Me” is a capstone of Kyle’s experience of trying on different personas and processes and the video explores the way people present themselves to the world. Kyle co-produced the new single with BAILE(Anjunadeep) and Grant Zubritsky (Verite, Nick Murphy) mostly remotely in their respective Brooklyn studios.

The accompanying music video emerged as an exploration with director Jay Harwood, art director Gina Schiappacasse and choreographer Cesar Brodermann. Kyle strikes somewhat contorted poses in a rotating lineup of wearable art pieces, masks, and headpieces by Brooklyn staple artists including PJ Linden and Max Steiner, nodding to the Tik-Tok and Instagram obsession culture weߣre all trapped in, as she sings ironically “Tell me what to wear, tell me what to think, tell me what to feel inside.”

After a handful of singles, Kyle is carving out her pocket of indie-pop that’s rooted in self-expression with a context that she defines. Her music is a permission slip for others to find their inner voice and go deeply into the heart space that seeks no confirmation or praise, where the goal is to express and not impress. Stay tuned for Ojos, the debut EP, due out this September.

Summer of Sorcery Live!

Professionally filmed and recorded before a sold-out crowd at New York City’s historic Beacon Theatre on November 6, 2019, the live concert extravaganza, Summer Of Sorcery Live! At The Beacon Theatre, expertly captures Little Steven, aka Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stevie Van Zandt, bringing the house down with his band the Disciples of Soul as they showcase their acclaimed 2019 album, Summer Of Sorcery, a 12-track record about the first rush of summer and the electric feeling of unlimited possibilities.

The full two-and-a-half-hour concert – the triumphant hometown culmination of the Summer of Sorcery’s European and U.S. tours – is out now via Wicked Cool Records/UMe in a variety of formats including Blu-ray video as well as audio-only versions on 3CD and as a limited edition 5LP 180-gram “Psychedelic Psorcery Pswirl” color vinyl box set, which is exclusively available via uDiscoverMusic  and LittleSteven.com. The Blu-ray features the entire concert in HD video with the audio offered in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound to provide the next best possible experience to being at the rock ‘n’ soul revue. The live album, which was mixed by Bob Clearmountain and mastered by Bob Ludwig, both career-long collaborators, includes thrilling performances of every song from Summer of Sorcery alongside tracks from throughout Van Zandt’s solo career, songs he wrote for Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, and some souped-up covers.

Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul were joined throughout the Summer of Sorcery tour by an array of legendary friends and family. Summer of Sorcery Live! At The Beacon Theatre is highlighted by a surprise appearance by the one and only Peter Wolf, who lends his inimitable vocals to powerhouse versions of J Geils Band’s “Freeze Frame” and Artists United Against Apartheid’s landmark protest anthem, “Sun City.”

Summer Of Sorcery Live! At The Beacon Theatre is rounded out with nearly an extra hour of live music featuring seven previously unreleased bonus performances recorded throughout 2017-2019, including with such superstar special guests as Australian music legends Jimmy Barnesand Peter Garrett, longtime friend and E Street Band bandmate Nils Lofgren, and the legendary Nick Gravenites, who joins Van Zandt for a spectacular rendition of the Electric Flag’s“Groovin’ Is Easy.” In addition, Peter Wolf returns for an explosive cover of The Showstoppers’hit, “(Ain’t Nothin’ But A) Houseparty,” recorded during the Soulfire Tour but, according to Van Zandt, “too good to leave on the shelf.” The festivities come to a rousing conclusion with a star-studded version of “Sun City,” which edits together performances with Jimmy Barnes, Jake Clemons, Sam Fender, Peter Garrett, Courtney Hadwin, Garland Jeffreys and Bruce Springsteen.

“We were born freaks, misfits, and outcasts,” Van Zandt writes in the album’s liner notes, which also include personal comments about each performance. “We got into this business because no other would have us. While we were here we figured we might as well create a world of our own, because we didn’t fit in the one we were being offered. Being on the road with a band is the ultimate manifestation of that fantasy. Together you travel, you perform, you dispense joy, and you get to see the world while avoiding it at the same time.

“Such was the case with the troubadour missionaries and part-time exorcists known as the Disciples of Soul as they sprinkled enlightenment to a dark world from May 27, 2017 to November 6, 2019. First as the Soulfire was lit in the overture and finally as the Summer of Sorcery played out its magical denouement. Herein embodies the still sparkling evidence of the latter, that which began as stranger’s prayers imagined and ended as a family’s promise fulfilled. Enjoy it at as much as we did at whatever volume is required to force your neighbors to call the cops.”

Arranged and produced by Van Zandt, with production assistance by GRAMMY® Award-winner Geoff Sanoff (Bruce Springsteen, Stephen Colbert). Summer of Sorcery Live! At The Beacon Theatre kicks off with a very special introduction from counterculture icon Wavy Gravy and from there traverses across Little Steven’s genre-smashing body of work, from Summer of Sorceryand 2017’s acclaimed solo return, Soulfire through classic songs and fan favorites from the songwriter, guitarist and band leader’s illustrious career, including an incendiary three-song salvo celebrating his work with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes (“Little Girl So Fine,” “Trapped Again,” and “Love On The Wrong Side Of Town”). Further highlights include spectacular covers of The Youngbloods’ “On Sir Francis Drake,” The Dovells’ “Bristol Stomp,” The Animals’ “Club-A-Go-Go,” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Tucson Train.”

Summer of Sorcery arrived in May 2019 and was immediately greeted by worldwide critical applause with Rolling Stone exclaiming, “it largely dispenses with protest songs and revels in the rock, soul and R&B of his Sixties youth,” adding it’s “the most eclectic record he’s ever made.” Van Zandt and his collaborators “pull out all the stops to make this sonic smorgasbord explode out of the speakers with passion and clout,” wrote American Songwriter. “Few artists have the artistic vision to pull off a thunderous production like this which is impressive in its scope and sheer booming audio audacity.” “A happy return for the Jersey Shore prince,” declared MOJO, while Classic Rock raved, “(Van Zandt’s) tangible labour of love defiantly captures old-school New York’s cross-pollinating melting pot with rich infusions of Latin (‘Party Mambo!’), blues (‘I Visit The Blues’), blaxploitation (‘Vortex’), classic rock ‘n’ roll (‘Superfly Terraplane’), Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes (‘Soul Power Twistin’’) and still making a social point on ‘Education,’” adding, “This unashamed celebration of endangered music and city life also makes a great party soundtrack.” “It’s all but impossible not to be impressed by the scope of Little Steven’s vision,” wrote All Music, “and the skill with which he and his collaborators bring it to fruition…Imagine Asbury Park, New Jersey encompassing an entire musical planet and you’ll have an idea of what Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul are doing on Summer of Sorcery, and if you dig rockin’ soul, this should be right up your alley.”

Van Zandt recently announced the publication of his first ever memoir, Unrequited Infatuations, due September 28 from Hachette Books; pre-orders are available now HERE. An epic tale of self-discovery, Unrequited Infatuations chronicles the twists and turns of Van Zandt’s always surprising life, from a bedroom in suburban New Jersey in the early ‘60s to the world’s largest stages in not only entertainment but activism as well. More than just the testimony of a globe-trotting nomad, more than the story of a groundbreaking activist, more than the odyssey of a spiritual seeker, and more than a master class in rock ‘n’ roll (not to mention a dozen other crafts), Van Zandt’s extraordinary odyssey shows how rock and soul has the power to change the world.

2021 has already seen the release of another live collection, Macca To Mecca!, a spectacular tribute to the Beatles available now via Wicked Cool/UMe on CD/DVD. The 14-track album/concert film – which includes a riveting performance of “I Saw Her Standing There,” recorded at London’s famed Roundhouse and featuring a special appearance by Paul McCartney – captures Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul’s extraordinary surprise set at Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club during the band’s sold out 2017 European tour. The intimate lunchtime gig was a salute to the kind of shows the Beatles used to play in their early days when they would perform for local secretaries, clerks and shopkeepers during their half hour lunch break. Van Zandt decided to bring that unique idea back 50 plus years later for a rollicking, jam-packed daytime set filled that honored the band with rocking renditions of “Magical Mystery Tour,” “Good Morning, Good Morning,” “Got To Get You Into My Life,” and “All You Need Is Love,” alongside iconic songs famously performed by the nascent Fab Four, including “Boys” (originally by The Shirelles), “Slow Down” (by Larry Williams) and “Soldier Of Love” (first recorded by Arthur Alexander).

Jonah Nilsson Bad image provided by Jim Merlis and Big Hassle for use by 360 MAGAZINE

Jonah Nilsson Covers Michael Jackson’s Bad

Jonah Nilsson, lead vocalist for Dirty Loops, a major YouTube sensation, shares his cover of the Michael Jackson classic “Bad”, adding his own spin and signature vocal range stylings to make a track that’s more powerful than ever. The track features Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Anomalie and Justin Lee Schultz. Music industry legend Quincy Jones has championed the Swedish singer and multi-instrumentalist, taking him under the wing of his management team. Now, Nilsson has been added to the recently launched Jammcard Records roster to release his first full-length solo album Now or Never on July 29.

He’s different though, he’s got the perfect balance of right brain creativity and left brain music theory. It’s in his blood,” praises Quincy Jones. “He’s got soul, with one of the biggest ranges I’ve ever heard.”

Jonah’s take on “Bad” beams with all the elements of a worldwide pop star in the making, while paying homage to the soul and spirit that originally made the track a hit in 1987, and adding a modern flavor that gives this version an entire life of its own.

“The song takes me back to my childhood,” Jonah reminisces. “Playing video games, swimming, and running around outside of our country house, just being a kid. With my version, I wanted to keep the essence of the song as well as stretching the musical elements as far as I could without losing the original feel, which inspired many of those childhood memories.”

The funk-pop artist has come a long way since his childhood dreams of becoming an artist. Singing has been part of his life essentially since birth. Jonah started singing at his parent’s church choir at the tender age of one. Then, at the onset of his skyrocketing career, Jonah’s life changed overnight when he and a couple long-time friends uploaded their own covers of huge pop hits like Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” and Justin Bieber’s “Baby” to YouTube. The unique covers spread like wildfire in the music community, garnered them millions of views, and got them the attention of many acclaimed artists, namely 16x Grammy Award winning producer David Foster. David took them under his wing and signed the trio named Dirty Loops to their first record deal at Verve Records. And just like that, Jonah went from singing in his friend’s basement to becoming an international touring star.

Jonah has made a name for himself through his pop sensibilities and masterful knowledge of music theory from his studies at the Royal Academy of Music, which set him apart in this new democratized era in which almost anyone can call themselves an artist.

Since Jonah’s early rise to fame, he’s since got a few headliner world tours under his belt and has acquired a significant fanbase of high-profile musicians, including Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, Brian McKnight, Rodney Jerkins, Dallas Austin, and the incredible Stevie Wonder. Even though that’s enough for some, Jonah’s humble demeanor continues to push him forward. His cheery outlook on life gives you the sense he’s unphased and ready to continue giving the gift of music.

“It’s a little scary and wonderful at the same time because I have the chance to explore and share a new side of myself that my fans haven’t seen before. I’m really excited, and I can’t wait to see what happens.”

Jonah’s debut single, “Coffee Break”, featuring Richard Bona, was self-produced and released in 2018  one version which also features LUCAS from the massively popular K-pop group NCT and released by SM Entertainment. Since then, he has also released a cinematic single “Borrowed Time” and the jaw-dropping performance video of “Work Shit Out” with Dirty Loops. Jonah will continue to share new music, and when asked about how his music will differ from Dirty Loops, he says that the music will continue to have the flirtatious and cheeky sound that they were notorious for, but with more R&B and pop elements.

“I never in a million years thought I’d be here,” confesses Jonah. His piercing blue eyes and huge smile gives you the feeling that he’s wholeheartedly telling the truth. “Living in the present has kept my feet on the ground. I just want to create meaningful music… everything else that happens is extra.”

Bob Mould × Jason Narducy × Distortion and Blue Hearts Tour

Legendary musician Bob Mould taps Jason Narducy to open the solo portion of his “Distortion and Blue Hearts!” tour starting October 15, 2021, in Bloomington, IL at Castle Theater. These solo dates are the second part of a tour that begins with his band — Narducy on bass and drummer Jon Wurster on September 16 at Paradise Rock Club in Boston. The full run of dates and locations are below.

Mould also marks the 10-year anniversary of his groundbreaking memoir See A Little Light: The Trail of Rage and Melody by sharing a video clip of him reading from the book and then performing solo “Wishing Well” from his 1989 landmark album Workbook.

On top of that he shares a trailer for his fourth and final vinyl box Distortion: Live an 8 LP set that includes live recordings from Moulds solo career and his band Sugar. This set will be released on July 16, 2021, through Demon Music Group.

Mould sees parallels between the memoir and the Distortion box sets:

“After three years of writing my 2011 autobiography, See A Little Light, I was full speed ahead no more looking back. But over the past few years, during the production of the Distortion reissue series, many of the people, places, and circumstances that fueled those albums came back to life. Oddly, I didnt see that coming!

“As for today: the book is ten years old, Im thrilled that 30 years of my work has been re-released in so many configurations, and Im very grateful to be able to take these songs and stories to the stage later this year and hopefully many years to come. As time marches on, Im learning to embrace my past, enjoy the moment, and still have hopes and dreams for the future.”

As on the previously released box sets in the Distortion collection, the fourth volume sees each album being mastered by Jeff Lipton and Maria Rice at Peerless Mastering in Boston and is presented with brand new artwork designed by illustrator Simon Marchner and pressed on 140g clear vinyl with unique splatter effects. This box set includes 4 live albums: Live At The Cabaret Metro, 1989; the Sugar album The Joke Is Always On Us, Sometimes; LiveDog98 (first time on vinyl), and Live at ATP 2008 (first time on vinyl). In addition, the set includes a 28-page companion booklet featuring liner notes by journalist Keith Cameron; contributions from Bullys Alicia Bognanno; rare photographs and memorabilia, and a bonus LP Distortion Plus: Live, which features live rarities including B-Sides and stand-out tracks from the Circle of Friends concert film.

Opening the “Solo Distortion” part of the tour is Jason Narducy who has been the bass player in Bob Moulds band since 2005. The Evanston, IL-based musician first gained renown in 1982, when at 11 years old, he formed the seminal punk rock band Verb ten with his childhood friends in an Evanston basement. Narducy would later go on to front Verbow, releasing three albums with the band (one in its earliest incarnation as Jason & Alison). Since his days in Verbow, Narducy has gone on to tour with such acts as Robert Pollard and Telekinesis. Today, along with playing bass for Mould he performs the same role in Superchunk, and fronts Split Single, with whom hes recorded three albums with a rotating cast of stellar musicians, including Jon Wurster, Spoons Britt Daniel, R.E.M.s Mike Mills, and Wilco’s John Stirratt. Split Singles new album, Amplificado, is out June 25.
