Anna Sofia x Either Way

ANNA SOFIA REVEALS GORGEOUS EITHER WAY GARAGE SESSION VIDEO: WATCH HERE

Continuing to reveal content from her stunning Broken Perfection Garage Sessions EP, rising Canadian newcomer Anna Sofia today reveals a gorgeous, stripped back video for delicate EP track Either Way. Dive into the video HERE.

Anna Sofia has cemented herself as an artist to watch for this year and beyond, gaining acclaim from the likes of Wonderland, IDOLATOR, American Songwriter, CLASH and more for stellar indie-pop showcase, Broken Perfection. The Garage Sessions showcase the otherworldly vocal ability of Anna Sofia, further cementing her as one of the most exciting new talents around.

At just 17, the Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has won critical acclaim, millions of streams and legions of dedicated fans for one simple reason: she’s being herself. Her music is not the result of focus groups, marketing or following trends. There’s no hindsight and no lecturing. She’s just an artist living in the moment, reflecting life back to the same people coming of age and navigating the drama of becoming an adult – with sophisticated but immediate indie meets R&B bangers that are totally free of pretense and bullshit, singing directly from the heart of the Gen Z experience.

While determined to reach as many people as possible, Anna Sofia has no manifesto or mission statement – just to stay true and speak to others. “I don’t have a message. It’s just real life,” she admits. “One day, I hope to fill stadiums all over the world. I want to have fans everywhere and have some way of helping them or guiding them through my music. My confidence comes from being myself and connecting with people.”

Look out for more from Anna Sofia very soon

Trailblazing new artist Isaac Dunbar releases the music video for “miss america”via RCA Records. Watch HERE. The video is directed by Griffin Stoddard. “miss america” released last week and was declared a “…soaring, powerful ballad…” by The Interns.

Isaac says, “The video for “miss america” is inspired by the novella “le petit prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, with a twist. I’m the prince in the video, and I’m on the moon far far away from earth, reminiscing of the good things i experienced and creating a civilization of my own. this is metaphorical of me wanting a society where people can live equally and freely. when i first made the song, i had this whole visual of being in space in my head and i think it translated well”

“Don’t Play Pretend” is from her latest EP “Broken Perfection,” an EP that was featured on Spotify playlists like Indie Pop and Pop Sauce.

She might make the nastiest smoothie on the planet- check out the video right here if you want to know what I’m talking about. All that said, at least she doesn’t pretend to be something she’s not.

Sofia said she doesn’t have a message.

“It’s just real life,” she said. “One day, I hope to fill stadiums all over the world. I want to have fans everywhere and have some way of helping them or guiding them through my music. My confidence comes from being myself and connecting with people.”

JAWNY

JAWNY – Sabotage

Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist JAWNY released his brand new single “Sabotage” today. The “angsty yet anthemic” track is the first shared from JAWNY’s upcoming project For Abby, due out via Interscope Records later this year.
LISTEN TO “SABOTAGE” BY JAWNY HERE

“Built on a brilliant collision of bright beats and snarling riffs, “Sabotage” finds JAWNY looking back on a bad breakup with no regrets… With his signature self-aware humor, the 24-year-old artist boldly celebrates romantic destruction at the song’s shout-along chorus (“I sabotage my love/Just because”),” a press release reads.

“‘Sabotage’ is probably my most honest song on the entire project,” says the Bay Area native, “I was feeling really defeated in the room that day, and I feel like the song kinda embodies that.”

JAWNY’s 2019 viral hit “Honeypie,” hailed as a “slacker-funk gem” by DIY Mag, has seen a major resurgence this summer. Its accompanying music video surpassed 10.5 million views on YouTube and the track has now amassed over 53 million streams on Spotify, while JAWNY’s monthly-listener count has reached over 3 million.

Born Jacob Sullenger, JAWNY grew up outside Oakland and started playing guitar when he was just six-years-old. At age 13, he began making beats with his brother, eventually landing placements with several rappers in the SoundCloud scene of the late-aughts. By 2017 he’d gained a cult-like following thanks in part to a series of viral videos posted on Twitter, and drew further buzz in 2018 with a self-titled debut EP made under the name Johnny Utah. In 2019, he broadened his fanbase with widely praised singles like “Honeypie” and “4Tounce.” As labels came calling, JAWNY landed a deal with Interscope Records by the end of the year. With a process he describes as “very scatterbrained and manic and all-over-the-place” — and a happily warped musicality equally inspired by Tyler, the Creator and STRFKR — the L.A.-based artist is set to release his debut project for Interscope in late 2020.

Alexander 23 – Caught in the Middle

Rising indie-pop artist Alexander 23 has released the video for his lovesick song “Caught in the Middle.” Directed by Kee Hwang, the visual- shot in a LA-based bar- captures the early 2000s-feel of the nostalgic single. While “Caught in the Middle” first comes across as a happy-go-lucky, upbeat song, the underlying meaning is more thoughtful, focusing in on the uncomfortable familiarity of what was once a significant relationship.

Watch the video for “Caught in the Middle” by Alexander 23 here.

“Caught in the Middle,” follows the infectious, “IDK You Yet,” which blew up on the video-sharing site TikTok and landed the Chicago native in the top 10 of Rolling Stone‘s Breakthrough 25. Since its release in May, the track has garnered over 113 million global streams (44 million in the U.S. alone). On August 11th the Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist will make his late-night TV debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden with a performance of “IDK You Yet.”

Bastille's What You Gonna Do??? illustration done by Mina Tocalini of 360 MAGAZINE.

Bastille – What You Gonna Do???

Bastille’s electrifying new song might feel like a bit of a surprise release, not least to the band themselves, but as frontman Dan Smith says, “We finished the song, and it felt urgent. We didn’t want to sit on it.”

A thunderous, furious, short sharp shock, WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” feat. Graham Coxon comes after the dust settled on the band’s acclaimed third album Doom Days—the final instalment in a trilogy that’s spanned eight years and brought Bastille multi-platinum sales, global success and a position as one of the world’s most-streamed bands. Fans may have grown accustomed to albums arriving with fully formed, meticulously executed, creative ecosystems, but this time it’s all change.

WATCH THE OFFICIAL VIDEO HERE!

This next phase feels like a new beginning. It’s about completely tearing up our process, being spontaneous and starting again,” Dan states. “We’re just really excited by the new songs. I think we’re making some of the best music we’ve ever made. We want to put it out now and not wait for the whole album to be done before anyone starts to hear it. This is about where we are now and hearing us in real-time.”

Produced by Dan and Mark Crew, it’ll surprise anyone who thought they knew what to expect from the band—the song features Graham Coxon on guitar and vocals.

The tongue-in-cheek chorus of “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” explores a frustration with the attention economy in which our ears and eyes are fiercely fought over, yet so few use it for anything worthwhile. “Whether we’re outside or online, we’re perpetually hit by so many people vying for our attention,” Dan adds, “but we’re just left rolling our eyes at how rarely it’s for anything that decent or funny.” The track was written before 2020 turned on its head, but it’s hard to ignore the poignancy of a song that questions the squandered attention of billions of captive eyeballs.

The track’s extraordinary video sees Bastille collaborating with Rezza, a British/Iranian, London-based animator who brings a seismic visual shift for Bastille: the video is a mash up of mixed media using illustration, photography and live action, which results in a unique and innovative style that is winningly berserk.

Sonically “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” is either the first clue to a brand new chapter for Bastille or a complete red herring. Either way, it marks the beginning of an exciting and surprising new era for the band.

Hailed by Rolling Stone as “Britpop’s new crown princes,” Bastille was introduced internationally with the single “Pompeii,” which is now 6x Platinum in the U.S. “Pompeii” and subsequent hits, “Good Grief” (2016) and “Quarter Past Midnight” (2018), each topped the Mediabase Alternative chart in the States. The GRAMMY®-nominated band – comprising Dan Smith, keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist/guitarist Will Farquarson, and drummer Chris Wood – has global consumption exceeding 6 billion cumulative streams across all platforms, including 48 million adjusted singles and 7 million adjusted albums worldwide. Bastille’s hit single with Marshmello “Happier” topped charts around the world, with cumulative streams approaching 7 billion. Certified 6x Platinum in the U.S., “Happier” held the No. 1 position for 3 consecutive weeks on the Top 40 Radio Airplay chart. 2019 brought Bastille’s acclaimed third album, Doom Days, which charted in the top 5 in the U.S, making Bastille the only UK band to have achieved this chart landmark alongside The Beatles and Queen, and received massive critical acclaim, as NME called it “their most inventive boundary-hoping album yet.” Following a 2 month-long sold-out U.S. and U.K. tour last year, 2020 sees the band return with the ferocious “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???,” which sonically is either the first clue to a brand new era for Bastille or a complete red herring. Either way, it marks the beginning of an exciting and surprising new era for the band.

Teddi Gold Bossa Nova Baby ft. Mi$HNRZ

Teddi Gold – Bossa Nova Baby

“There are a ton of exciting voices in pop music right now, which makes it more of a challenge to stand out among the crowd. Los Angeles singer Teddi Gold has managed to do it on her debut EP” – Uproxx

“Teddi Gold displays a refreshingly attentive take on modern pop, meshing bass-heavy Caribbean theatrics with innovative top 40-tinged hooks and commentaries on society” – The Line of Best Fit

Los Angeles-based indie pop singer-songwriter Teddi Gold released her newest single “Bossa Nova Baby” ft. Latin duo Mi$HNRZ. “Bossa Nova Baby” is the second single off her upcoming EP Vol. 2 which is set for release this fall. “Bossa Nova Baby,” showcases a slinky groove shakes under Teddi’s hypnotic delivery, which taunts listeners of the greatness to come with the rest of Teddi’s EP.

The track comes on the heels of Vol. 2’s debut single “Confetti” and “BOOM BOOM,” an anthem for equality Teddi released in honor of Pride Month and to support the Black Lives Matter movement.  In 2019, her single “Cash” paved the way for her debut EP Vol. 1. In addition to widespread praise, Teddi landed on Spotify’s coveted Fresh Finds and Pandora’s Top Hits Playlist. She was also proclaimed a “promising artist” by Pandora’s Next Big Sound. Maintaining this momentum, she joined forces with producer Jon Buscema, Drew Alexander and Jack Ventimigilia and sharpened her unpredictable and undeniable pop for Vol. 2.

Adam Hambrick – “Between Me and the End of the World”

ADAM HAMBRICK RELEASES COVID-19 INSPIRED SONG “BETWEEN ME AND THE END OF THE WORLD”

FEATURED BY THE ASSOCIATED PRESS’ ‘REFLECTING THE TIMES’

Capitol Records Nashville / Buena Vista Records’ Adam Hambrick released his new song, “Between Me and the End of the World,” today. Listen HERE.

The song is a heartfelt tribute to Adams’s wife, a physician assistant who has been treating patients throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, and what it has been like for Adam watching her help those in need despite the risk to own self. “This song is for all the people who step in and serve people when things go horribly wrong,” says Adam. “I have spent this quarantine watching my wife go off to work as a physician assistant to do her version of that, testing and treating people for the virus. It has given me a new appreciation for all the people who spend their lives serving others in difficult times. It’s terrifying seeing someone you love do what they were made to do but have to do it in harm’s way.”

In a departure from the norm, Adam wrote “Between Me and the End of the World” during a solo write and recorded the vocal in his bedroom while his wife was working alongside him. All of the additional recording was done remotely from each musicians’ home studio. The track was featured earlier this week by The Associated Press in their piece ‘reflecting the times’ describing the song as “a tearjerker.”

DROPS VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “KNEW YOU”

WATCH HERE

Bedroom-pop sorceress Kailee Morgue announces her upcoming EP, Here In Your Bedroom, is set for release on April 24th. She also releases the video for her latest single off of the EP, “Knew You,” out now.

The video, which Morgue wrote the treatment for, was directed by Ricky Anthony. Ones To Watch hails “Knew You” as “an exhilarating new sound” for Morgue, while This Song Is Sick says, “Kailee Morgue is proving herself as a force to be reckoned with in the indie-pop world.”

Of the inspiration behind the video, Morgue says, “The idea for this video was to have me sort of contrasting the spaces I was in, with the way I was dressed and how messy my hair was against the soft, light backgrounds. It was also supposed to hint at a sort of intimacy and waiting for someone else to arrive in that bedroom or the diner.”

Stay tuned for more from Kailee Morgue!
